WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, FELT THE VAN "JUMPED" THEN ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN WHILE IN REVERSE SWIPED A PARKED TRUCK, AND DID A HALF CIRCLE INTO THE DRIVE-THROUGH OF A PARKING LOT ONLY TO STOPPED WHEN IT HIT ANOTHER SUV. I FELT I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VAN WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING.
CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ALMOST DAILY. ANY TIME VEHICLE VEERS TOWARDS THE RIGHT ANTI-SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT, ALARM SOUNDS AND ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY, ON DRY ROADS, GOING DOWNHILL OR ON A CURVE, EVEN WHILE SWITCHING LANES NOW. THIS HAPPENS ABOVE 20 MPH. DRIVING BECOMES STRESSFUL AND WORRY-SOME WHEN ALARM BEGINS TO SOUND AND DASH LIGHT COME ON. FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL BECOMES GREAT, FEAR FOR YOUR PASSENGERS SAFETY AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS SAFETY BECOMES REAL. DURING THE PAST 3 MONTHS THERE HAVE BEEN 5 SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN WHICH THE VEHICLE HAS LOST ACCELERATION, PULLS STEERING IN ONE DIRECTION AND SUDDEN BREAK LOCK OCCURS. 2 OF WHICH TOOK PLACE ON THE FREEWAY ON RAMP AT A SPEED OF 35MPH, 1 DRIVING DOWNHILL, SLIGHTLY TOWARDS THE RIGHT, AT A SPEED IF 20MPH AND THE LAST 2 WHILE SWITCHING LANES, 35 MPH. VEHICLE BEGAN LOSING POWER AND SLOWING INSTEAD OF INCREASING SPEED. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH MANY DRIVERS IN MANY AREAS. WHY ISN'T THIS BEING INVESTIGATED? *TR
FROM DRIVING NORMAL SPEED, CAR CAP OUT AT 20 MPH AT HIGHWAY. ALMOST GOT INTO WRECK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS IS HAPPENED. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE . MANAGER CHECKED AND SAID IT HAPPENED TO HIS 2014 COROLLA, TOYOTA COVERED VARIABLE TRANSMISSION CELENOID UNDER RECALL. HE SAID TO CALL TOYOTA OR DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP IS SAYING, THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS KIND OF SAFETY ISSUE.
WHILE ON THE ROAD, INFREQUENTLY AS WE START HITTING CONTINUOUS CURVES, THE BEEPING STARTS WITH SLIP CONTROL SYMBOL COMING ON. THE BRAKES ENGAGE ON THEIR OWN. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW WE TAKE THE CURVES. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE AT THAT POINT AND IT STARTS BRAKING ITSELF FOR FEW SECONDS. VERY DANGEROUS ON THE CURVES AND ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE IS BEHIND YOU.
SHIFT CONTROL DIDN'T WORK AND VAN ROLLED AWAY. WE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE AND THE CAR SPED UP AND WENT OUT OF CONTROL. THE VAN WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND FINALLY STOPPED OUT IN THE STREET. THIS VAN SCARED THE DAY LIGHTS OUT OF US. COMPLETE DEFECT
HUSBAND PULLED INTO PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A STORE, HE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE SPOT AND BEFORE HE COULD PUT IN PARK IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FULL REV, HOPPED THE CURB AND HIT THE BUILDING. WHILE UP AGAINST THE BUILDING IT WAS STILL IN FULL REV. FINALLY IT STOPPED AND HE BACKED IT BACK OVER THE CURB. VAN WENT ABOUT THREE FEET INTO THE BUILDING. TIRE ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS FLATTENED. VAN HAS BEEN TOTALED. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF OUR VAN.
WHEN DRIVING THROUGH SWEEPING TURNS ON DRY, PAVED ROADS, THE VEHICLE'S VSC ENGAGES, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SELF BRAKE, PULLING TO THE LEFT (TOWARD ONCOMING TRAFFIC), AND THE VSC LIGHT ON THE DASH TO BLINK AND BEEP. THIS PUTS THE PASSENGERS OF MY CAR IN DANGER, AS WELL AS THOSE IN VEHICLES AROUND US WHO ARE NOT EXPECTING A SUDDEN APPLICATION OF BRAKES OR SWERVING INTO NEIGHBORING LANE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WITH NO FINDINGS WHICH WOULD WARRANT THE VEHICLE TO ENGAGE IN SUCH ACTIVITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ENGINE WOULD SURGE, THE RPMS WOULD DECREASE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND I HAVE AN L SHAPED DRIVEWAY. I WAS GOING APPROX. 2MPH AND THEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND WAS "COVERING" THE BRAKE AND SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND I TRIED TO BRAKE, BUT THE CAR SLAMMED INTO A PARKED CAR AND STILL DID NOT STOP. IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL I ENDED UP IN THE STREET. I WAS TRYING TO BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME, BUT THE CAR DID NOT STOP AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS. WE LIVE ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET IN THE SUBURBS AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. THE SIENNA AND THE PARKED CAR BOTH HAVE EXTENSIVE BODY DAMAGE.
ON MONDAY, OCT. 13, 2014, I WAS SLOWLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. I TRIED TO STOP THE VAN, BUT IT SPED BACKWARDS ACROSS THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, RAN OVER A CURB, AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED CAR. THE CAR THAT MY VAN STRUCK PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHICH WAS ALSO DAMAGED. THIS WAS MOST FRIGHTENING AND UPSETTING, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES TO TOYOTA. MY VAN WAS TOTALED, THE SECOND CAR MAY HAVE BEEN TOTALED AND THE THIRD CAR WILL NEED AT LEAST A NEW DOOR. A WOMAN WHO WAS IN THE THIRD CAR IS CLAIMING TO HAVE BEEN INJURED. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING IT, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REFERENCE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
DRIVING 45 TO 50 MPH ON A ROAD ON A DRY SUNNY DAY. SUDDENLY VSC LIGHT CAME ON AND WARNING BEEP AND AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKES ENGAGED CAUSING A RAPID SLOW DOWN OF THE VAN. I ALMOST SWERVED INTO THE NEXT LANE DUE TO THE BRAKES ENGAGING. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN ONE MORNING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT COULD CAUSE A COLLISION, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. *TR
2005 SIENNA WAS DRIVEN TO A PARKING GARAGE AND PARKED FOR TWO HOURS. UPON RETURNING TO THE SIENNA AND STARTING THE ENGINE, THREE LIGHTS CAME ON; CHECK ENGINE, VSC, AND TRAC OFF. DROVE VEHICLE HOME (150 MILES), THE 3 LIGHTS REMAINED ON AS WELL AS LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL AND AN INTERMITTENT COMPASS DISPLAY. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AT A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SKID CONTROL UNIT ECU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND OUT THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE 2005 SIENNA VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (ALSO CALLED ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) SYSTEM THAT HAS CAUSED INJURIES. EVEN MORE REMARKABLE, MY 2005 SIENNA HAS ONLY 62K MILES AND IN THAT TIME THERE HAS BEEN 2 OTHER INCIDENCES WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL IF THERE ARE ALREADY INJURIES IN THE DATABASE?? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE AS SHE HAD JUST TAKEN THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK.. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. MY WIFE HAD SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUE WITH OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA LE MINI-VAN. WHEN SHE WAS DROPPING OUR SON OUTSIDE OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX AT UNDER 15 MPH, CAR MAGICALLY ACCELERATED AND ENDED UP HITTING A TREE. FRONT PASSENGER WAS TOTALLY DAMAGED AND CAR IS TOTALED. WE HAD APPROX 65K MILES ON MINIVAN. *TR
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. MY WIFE WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND WHEN SHE MERGED BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE, THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED SPEED EVEN THOUGH SHE LET OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR. THE BUILDING SUSTAINED MODERATE DAMAGES. THE POLICE WERE NOT CALLED TO THE SCENE. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY; AND THE VEHICLE'S FRONT BUMPER PAINT EXHIBITED MINOR CHIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
WHILE VERY SLOWLY PULLING MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN INTO A PARKING SPACE, WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD NEARLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO FULL THROTTLE, HOPPING OVER THE CONCRETE BUMPER AT END OF PARKING SPACE AND CRASHING HEAD ON INTO A POLE. I HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATION INCIDENT IN MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. I WAS MAKING A SLOW U-TURN IN FRONT OF MY HOME INTO A PARKING SPACE BY THE CURB ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE STREET. THE WIDTH OF THE STREET IS SUCH THAT EVEN WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED FULLY TO THE LEFT, THE PASSENGER TIRE RISES UP A DRIVEWAY INCLINE JUST BEFORE THE CAR IS 180 DEGREES AROUND. AS I USUALLY DO FOR THIS TURN, I NEED TO TURN SLIGHTLY MORE THAN 180 DEGREES, HAVE THE PASSENGER TIRE COME OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THEN TURN BACK TO BE PARALLEL TO THE CURB. I HAD SLIGHTLY MISJUDGED THE TURN THIS TIME, AND REALIZED THAT MY PASSENGER TIRE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO DROP AN INCH OR TWO OFF THE RISING CURB AT THE EDGE OF THE DRIVEWAY. BECAUSE OF THIS I AM CERTAIN I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP MY SPEED DOWN. ABOUT 5 FEET BEFORE THE WHEEL WAS GOING TO COME OFF THE CURB, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD, JUMPED THE CURB VIOLENTLY AND FAST, AND CONTINUED MY TURN CARRYING ME PARTLY BACK INTO THE STREET. I WAS VERY SURPRISED, BUT BROUGHT THE CAR TO A STOP QUICKLY WITH THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE WAS NO LONGER REVVING ONCE I STOPPED. I ESTIMATE TAT THE ACCELERATION LASTED FOR NOT MORE THAN 2 SECONDS, POSSIBLY ONLY 1 SECOND. I REVERSED THE CAR AND THEN DROVE IT FORWARD INTO MY INTENDED PARKING SPACE. AFTER PUTTING THE SHIFTER INTO P, I REVVED THE ENGINE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AND NO DAMAGE I AM AWARE OF (ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER WHEEL DID MAKE A THUMP AS IT CAME OVER THE CURB). *TR

THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR DEFECT INVESTIGATIONS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN LOEBSACK'S OFFICE ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF TOYOTA SIENNA *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE TRAVELING WITH HER HUSBAND AND TWO CHILDREN. THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, NOR DID SHIFTING THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL, PARK OR REVERSE. THE RPM NEEDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND THERE WAS A LOUD ROAR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER PULLED THE KEY FROM IGNITION AT ABOUT 75 MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE. TOYOTA CLAIMED THE FLOOR MATS WERE THE CAUSE, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND CHECKED THE FLOOR MATS AND THEY WERE NOT THE PROBLEM. *JB UPDATED 06/15/10.*JB
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT WHEN MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND MY VAN LURCHED FORWARD INTO A TREE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE TO ME IN THIS, OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH, MY CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SCENE. I FILED A POLICE REPORT, AS WELL AS A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE CARRIER. I HAVE SINCE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA, BUT HAVE NOT YET HEARD FROM THE INSPECTOR ASSIGNED TO MY CASE. CURRENTLY, THE VAN IS AT A BODY SHOP AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE IS DONE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA HAD CRUISE CONTROL ON. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO 'SHAKE' AND THE SPEEDOMETER CLIMBED TO 80 MPH THEN DOWN TO 60 MPH. IT DIDN'T SEEM TO ACTUALLY BE ACCELERATING--IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS FIGHTING TO NOT LOSE POWER. I DEACTIVATED THE CRUISE CONTROL BY TOUCHING THE BREAKS. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY, TURNED THE MOTOR OFF, WAITED AND STARTED AGAIN AT A SLOWER SPEED WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. AFTER A WHILE THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO 'BUCK AND SHAKE', THE SPEEDOMETER RACED TO 80 MPH (THOUGH THE CAR ITSELF) DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE RAPID ACCELERATION) THEN THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 50 MPH. OVER THE PHONE MY HUSBAND ADVISED I TURN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AND TURN IT OFF AGAIN. I DID AND DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES HOME AT SPEEDS FROM 55-65 WITHOUT ANOTHER INCIDENT. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO CHECK OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 100,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY HUSBAND AND TWO CHILDREN. THE BRAKES COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, NOR DID SHIFTING IT INTO NEUTRAL, PARK, OR REVERSE. WE OWN A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT HAS HAD AN ONGOING SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2005. THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WHEN TURNING THE CAR AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE MEMBERS ON THESE SITES HAVE COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA FOR YEARS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR "REPROGRAMMING" BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE SITUATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING FROM CA TO VA IN MAY OF 2009 I EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL. THIS OCCURRED AFTER I WOULD SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC AND THEN ACTIVATE THE RESUME CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DURING THE TRIP EAST AND ON THE RETURN TRIP BACK TO CA. THE SPEEDS WITH THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION REACHED 95MPH ON THE FIRST OCCASION AND STOPPED ONCE I APPLIED THE BRAKES. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE ACCELERATION FROM REACHING MORE THAN 10 TO 15 MPH OVER THE ASSIGNED CRUISE CONTROL SPEED. *TR

I PURCHASED MY TOYOTA SIENNA IN JUNE 2008. THIS PAST SUMMER(2009) AND FALL MY WIFE COMPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OWN ITS OWN TWICE. TOYOTA 2005 SIENNA LIMITED XLE WHEN USING CRUISE CONTROL (WE ONLY USE THIS ON HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING SO THIS OCCURS AT THAT TIME. ON OR ABOUT OCTOBER 31, 2008, A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DRIVER STEERED THE VEHICLE AROUND CARS, CURBS AND OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH A PARKING LOT. ATTEMPTS TO BRAKE THE VEHICLE WERE FUTILE. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY HIT A CURB WHICH DEFLATED A TIRE, THEN CONTINUED THROUGH A CHAIN-LINK FENCE AND A FIELD AND INTO A PORTABLE BUILDING, FINALLY COMING TO A STOP. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND SLOWING TO A STOP, THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED AND THEN ACCELERATED FORWARD, PUSHING THE CAR THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR AND ABOUT 10 FEET INTO THE GARAGE BEFORE THE ENGINE STOPPED REVVING AND CAME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DUPLICATE FAILURE OCCURRED IN 2009 AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STUCK. THE CONTACT HAD TO REACH DOWN AND PULL THE PEDAL FROM THE STUCK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST THREE TO FOUR TIMES. 2009: ONE INCIDENT SEVERAL MONTHS TO A YEAR AGO IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN THAT MY CAR ACCELERATED. IT FELT LIKE MY CAR HAD INCREASED BY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT IN MPH. I THOUGHT I PRESSED THE GAS. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATED A BIT BUT THE CAR APPEARED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I BELIEVE I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AT SOME POINT BUT IT DID NOT CHANGE THE ACCELERATION. I CAN'T SAY IF I PUT ON BRAKES FIRST TO SLOW MYSELF DOWN OR ACCELERATED. HOWEVER, I DO KNOW NEITHER ONE AFFECTED THE CAR FROM THE ACCELERATION. THE ACCELERATION STOPPED ON ITS OWN. JULY 2008 I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA I WAS ON THE RAMP TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY DOING 35MPH WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY JUMPED TO 75MPH WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. I STAYED CALM BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR WITH AND I DIDN'T WANT TO SCARE THEM. THEY WERE TOLD THIS MODEL IS NOT DESIGNED FOR CRUISE CONTROL TO HOLD GOING DOWNHILL! I CONTACTED TOYOTA VIA E-MAIL AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS AND NEVER HAVE HAD CRUISE CONTROL NOT HOLD ON A DOWNHILL ROAD. IT WILL BE SET AT 60 AND CONTINUE GOING AS HIGH AS 80 WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND MADE A RIGHT TURN TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. I WAS HALFWAY INTO THE SPACE, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN I FELT THE VAN JERK-IT THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, WENT OVER THE RAISED CURB IN FRONT,ONTO THE EXIT LANE OF THE SHOPPING CENTER,TURNED AROUND BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT(THE WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE RIGHT STILL),HIT THE BUILDING BREAKING A COUPLE OF WINDOWS, AND THEN CAME TO A STOP AFTER HITTING A BARRICADED DUMPSTER ALONG THE WAY. ALL THE WHILE I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN THE PROCESS,THE FRONT OF THE VAN WAS BADLY DAMAGED. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO PEDESTRIANS IN THE LOT AND I DIDN'T HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLE AND MY SON AND I WALKED AWAY WITH MINOR INJURIES. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA. THEY INSPECTED THE VAN LAST WEEK AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR THEIR REPORT. THE VAN HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET-I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA AS TO THE NEXT COURSE OF ACTION. OWNER OF 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA LE MINIVAN PURCHASED IN DECEMBER 2004. 1. NOTICED THAT THIS PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS AND THE OCCURRENCE HAS INCREASED IN FREQUENCY. 2. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE THROTTLE WILL OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO RESPOND TO THE INITIAL PRESSURE BEING APPLIED TO THE PEDAL.
