Your car's brake hold feature unexpectedly released while you had your foot on the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to roll forward at 5 mph. When you tried to stop it by pressing the brake pedal harder, the brakes didn't respond quickly enough and you collided with the car ahead. The crash resulted in damage to your front bumper, grille, and headlights.

When starting the car in low temperatures, approximately less than 30 degrees Fahrenheit, the ABS, VSC, and BRAKE warning lights remain on after starting. subsequent reading with an OBD reader indicates a C1246 trouble code. Operation of the vehicle without working ABS and VSC systems makes the vehicle inherently less safe and stable. I experienced several episodes of poor braking and skidding when driving in snow or rain before the problem was successfully diagnosed and repaired. The vehicle was serviced by Orland Toyota several times before the problem was able to be reproduced and repaired. A complete replacement of the ABS controller was required.
AS I WAS TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET ALL MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS LITE UP AND I TRIED TO BRAKE AND CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK POSITION AND CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND THEN JOLTED AND CAME TO A STOP.
I WAS APPROACHING A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WAS TRYING TO USE MY BRAKES WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF TE BRAKES PEDAL.MY FOOT PUSHED THE BRAKES PEDAL AND THE GAS PEDAL. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE BRAKES PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL IS ONLY 2.5 INCH. THE BRAKES BOOSTER PUSHED THE BRAKES PEDAL DOWN TO THE SAME HEIGHT AS THE GAS PEDAL.

THE VEHICLE WENT ACROSS A THREE LANE HIGHWAY AND CRASHED INTO A CURB WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CLONINGER TOYOTA LOCATED AT 511 JAKE ALEXANDER BLVD S, SALISBURY, NC 28147, PHONE NUMBER: (704) 754-4342 BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID HAS HAD EPISODIC BRAKING PROBLEMS. AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES, OCCASIONALLY WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW/STOP THE CAR THE BRAKE PEDDLE NEEDS TO BE PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR. WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING I CAN HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING. IT IS NECESSARY TO PUSH EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO STOP THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO MCGEORGE TOYOTA AND AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM. NEITHER FOUND ANY COMPUTER CODES INDICATING THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA REMOVED AND LUBRICATED THE SLIDE PINS FOR THE CALIPHERS AND THEN REINSTALLED THE PINS. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR. AS THIS PROBLEM IS EPISODIC, NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM RELATED TO THE COMPUTER SENDING A WRONG SIGNAL CAUSING THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE RATHER THAN ALLOWING THE CAR TO STOP NORMALLY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL "CLOSE CALLS" WHERE THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION NEARLY LEAD TO MY HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR NOT STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR STRIKING A PEDESTRIAN..
WHILE DRIVING I SUDDENLY STARTED TO HEAR GRINDING ON THE FRONT ON BRAKING. IMMEDIATELY I ASSUMED ISSUES WITH BREAK PADS BUT PREVIOUS TO THIS THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY KIND FORM THE CAR SENSORS OR FROM A PREVIOUS SERVICE. FORTUNATELY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND A REPAIR SHOP. ASSUMING WORN BREAK PADS, I HAD ALL PADS REPLACED ON INSPECTING THE PADS IT WAS CLEAR THAT THERE WAS SOME QUALITY ISSUE TO ONE SET OF FRONT PADS AS ALL OTHER PADS WERE OF SAFE. IT SEEMS THAT THE PAD UNDER QUESTION BROKE APART WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I BELIEVE THIS IS PRODUCT QUALITY ISSUE. I HAVE RETAIN ALL THE PADS FOR INSPECTION OF REQUIRED.
AROUND 11:30 AM, I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON A TWO LANE ROAD, AT APPROX. 25 MPH. THE BLACK VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME APPLIED THE BRAKES AND STOPPED. I WAS ABOUT 4 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THE BLACK VEHICLE WHEN I QUICKLY APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR DID NOT STOP NOR EVEN SLOWED DOWN. I PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL TWO MORE TIMES, AGAIN, AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP NOR SLOWED DOWN UNTIL I HIT THE BLACK VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME.

I WAS ENTERING FREEWAY ON RAMP. HEAVY TRAFFIC. BEAUTIFUL DAY, DRY ROADS. VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MADE BRAKED SUDDENLY. I QUICKLY APPLIED MY BRAKES. MY BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 2-3 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND TRAVELING 25 MPH. WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES, MY CAR DID NOT EVEN TRY TO STOP, IT BASICALLY SLID 2 1/2 CAR LENGTHS INTO REAR OF VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED MOVING BECAUSE IT WAS STOPPED BY VEHICLE IN FRONT.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN MY 2013 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID LE. IT WAS EARLY MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. ROADS WERE WET. TRAFFIC WAS STOP AND GO. I WAS PROBABLY GOING ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED. I APPLIED MY BRAKES BUT MY VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. I HIT REAR OF VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I DID NOT FEEL MY BRAKES ENGAGE. DURING A PANIC STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT, AFTER THE ABS BRAKES PULSED THREE TIMES, AT LEAST THE TWO FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CAR TO SKID. I COULD NOT TELL IF THE REAR BRAKES LOCKED UP. WROTE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE CASE NUMBER IS 1409112221. MY BRAKES WERE INSPECTED BY MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO REPORTED TO ME THAT DURING A HEALTH CHECK OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE MECHANIC AND SERVICE MANAGER STATED TO ME THAT DURING HARD STOPS THE ABS BRAKES MAY LOCK UP. I THOUGHT ABS STOOD FOR ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. *TR

AS RESULT, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE APPLIED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
I WAS DRIVING AROUND THE CHICAGOLAND SUBURB OF WHEATON WITH MY MOTHER ONE SATURDAY MORNING A FEW WEEKS AGO. I BEGAN APPLYING THE BRAKES AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD AS WE APPROACHED A RED LIGHT. AS WE DREW CLOSER TO THE STOPPED CAR IN FRONT OF US, I APPLIED THE BRAKES MORE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR WAS ROLLING AT ABOUT 15 MPH, BUT IT WAS NOT SLOWING AS I APPROACHED THE STOPPED CAR AHEAD. I PUT MY FOOT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES ENTIRELY TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP! MY MOM BEGAN YELLING FOR ME TO STOP, AND I SCREAMED BACK THAT I WAS TRYING! I HAD MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND I WAS FRANTICALLY PUMPING THE BRAKE, BUT IT KEPT ROLLING, COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE PEDAL FELT "MUSHY" AND WAS GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND ALL TOO EASILY. I BUMPED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, WHICH IS WHAT FINALLY BROUGHT ME TO A STOP. THE BUMP WAS LIGHT ENOUGH THAT THE DRIVER DIDN'T NOTICE, AND THERE WAS NOT ANY DAMAGE. HE LET IT GO, AND A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. I SLAMMED THE CAR INTO PARK AT THE LIGHT AND GOT OUT SO I COULD LOOK AROUND THE PEDALS TO SEE IF SOMETHING WAS JAMMED IN THERE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING AROUND THE BRAKE PEDAL THAT SHOULD HAVE STOPPED IT FROM WORKING. IT WAS NOT A FLOOR MAT PROBLEM. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN DRIVE, AND IT CONTINUED ON NORMALLY, BRAKES NOW WORKING FINE. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO TOYOTA AND EXPLAINED THE INCIDENT (MY MOM SERVED AS A WITNESS), AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON MY CAR. THEY SEEMED DISTURBINGLY UNFAZED BY THE STORY AS IF THEY GET THIS KIND OF COMPLAINT A LOT. OF COURSE, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY SAID THE 2013 CAMRY SE WAS FINE, AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL ME. ALTHOUGH THE CAR HAS BEEN FINE SINCE, I AM TERRIFIED AT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WHEN I AM MOVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY!! I LOVED THAT CAR, BUT NOW I AM SOMEWHAT AFRAID OF IT! *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ON FLAT ROAD WITH A 3-WEEK-OLD CAR. A CLICK SOUNDED AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM, ABS SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL TURNED ON. THE CAR WAS JUST ABOUT IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. I HAD TO STOMP ON THE BRAKES WHILE COASTING UPHILL ON AN OFF-RAMP. THE ACCUMULATOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED REQUIRING A NEW BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER ASSEMBLY, BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY, BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET, AND BRAKE FLUID. TOYOTA'S MULTI-CITY MASTER TECHNICIAN COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THE ERROR CODE WAS NOTED (C-1391) BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. *TR
AS I TURNED INTO A PARKING SPOT IN MY 2013 TOYOTA CAMRY (7 MONTHS OLD) AND PUT ON THE BRAKES, THE WINDOW WIPERS STARTED GOING LIKE MAD AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AT AN ALARMING RATE.
