Your rear suspension trailing arm body mounts have rusted severely, causing structural damage that compromises their integrity. While the mounts may look okay at first glance, they crumble easily when tapped, leaving large sections missing. If these mounts fail completely, you could lose control of your vehicle.

CALLED CUSTOMER CARE AND REQUESTED THEY STEP IN, ALL 4 STRUTS ARE BROKEN, THEY OFFERED TO FIX TWO. I PURCHASED THE TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED CARE WARRANTY, STILL NO RESOLVE. THE CAR WAS IN THE TOYOTA DEALER 12 DAYS BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED WITH NO MENTION OF THIS, A LOAD OF OTHER ISSUES NONE FIXED. TWO WEEKS AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED IT NEEDS NEW FRONT STRUTS. I PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES LAST YEAR AND THEY CANT BE ROTATED DUE TO WEAR FROM BAD STRUTS. I NEED ANOTHER SET OF TIRES TO STOP THE SHAKING THOUGH WAS INFORMED ONLY STRUTS WILL SAVE ME FROM BUYING ANOTHER SET IN 12 MONTHS. HELP RECALL THIS KNOWN ISSUE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FOR THE FAILURE THAT HAPPENED TWICE, ON EACH SIDE IN THE FRONT. IT WAS MENTIONED THAT THE METAL MATERIAL MIGHT NOT BE STRUCTURALLY SOUND. AFTER I DO THE INSPECTION AND CHECK THE STRUT, THE FRONT RIGHT STRUT NEED REPLACEMENT (IT'S BOUNCING A LOT WHEN I PUSH IT DOWN AND RELEASE). MY COMPLAINT IS WHY IT FAIL FOR ONLY 45000 MILES?. IS THIS SUPPOSE TO BE A RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT?. BECAUSE IT INVOLVE SAFETY DRIVING. AND I READ, THERE 30 COMPLAINTS ALREADY ABOUT THIS SUSPENSION.

MY BRAKES FAILED THE FIRST TIME ON 1/29/14 ON MY WAY TO WORK. LUCKILY, I WASN'T GOING TOO FAST, WHICH ALLOWED ME TO SAFELY PULL OVER ONTO ONE OF THE SIDE STREETS. MY CAR DISPLAYED THE ERROR MESSAGE: "CHECK VSC SYSTEM." I CALLED AAA, AND ONE OF THEIR TOW TRUCK DRIVERS SUGGESTED THAT RATHER THAN TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, I USE A DIFFERENT PLACE (WHICH HE CLAIMED WAS AAA APPROVED; IT WASN'T). NEARLY $500 LATER ($472.94 TO BE EXACT), MY CAR SEEMED FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEN ON 2/26/14, THIS TIME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. I GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AS BEFORE: "CHECK VSC SYSTEM." THIS TIME, I ASKED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. SUPPOSEDLY, NOBODY AT THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THIS SYSTEMATIC PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT 59 OTHER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. THAT'S ONLY THROUGH JANUARY; I CAN IMAGINE HOW MANY OTHER TIMES THIS HAPPENED THAT WERE NOT REPORTED. I ATE THE COST (THIS TIME UPWARDS OF $3,800) TO HAVE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SUSPENSION CONTROL (VSC) UNIT COMPLETELY REPLACED. THIS MORNING, 4/21/14, I TURNED ON MY CAR & WAS GREETED WITH THAT OLD FAMILIAR MESSAGE: "CHECK VSC SYSTEM." I'M AFRAID TO TRY DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK IN THIS CONDITION, AND MEANWHILE I'VE SUNK OVER $4,000 INTO "REPAIRS" THAT DO NOT SEEM TO LAST. I ALWAYS THOUGHT TOYOTAS WERE SUCH GOOD, RELIABLE CARS. TURN CORNER AND HEAR A BIG "CLUNK" AND LATER FIND A PIECE FALL OFF MY VEHICLE - STOP AND FIND OUT THAT IT IS PART OF THE COIL SPRING. I BRING THE BROKEN OFF PART INTO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THE "SERVICE SPECIALIST" AT THE CORWIN TOYOTA DEALER SAID - "LET ME GUESS, CAMRY..." I ASKED WHY SHE SAID CAMRY- SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY ONLY HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH CAMRY COIL SPRINGS AND NO OTHER VEHICLES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY WARRANTY OR RECALL ON THE ITEM AND SHE SAID "NO". MY CAR HAS ONLY 77,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS ONE THING THAT SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING ON A NEWER CAR. I WOULD UNDERSTAND IT IF I WERE DRIVING THROUGH FIELDS / CRAP ROADS BUT I AM NOT. THE FACT THAT THE LADY AT THE TOYOTA DEALER SAID THAT CAMRY VEHICLES ARE THE ONLY VEHICLES THAT THEY EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUES WITH IS ALSO A "RED FLAG" TO ME! A NOISE IS COMING FROM THE SUNROOF THAT SOUNDS LIKE METAL AGAINST METAL WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY OR GOING AROUND A CORNER OR OVER A BUMP. I HAVE OWNED 3 TOYOTAS AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO FRUSTRATED AS I AM WITH OWNING THIS TOYOTA 2008 CAMRY. FROM THE BEGINNING THE CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES THAT CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE, THE SUNVISORS FALLING, THE REAR WHEEL BEARING TO BE REPLACED AND NOW THE SUNROOF. I'M TAKING TIME TO WRITE THIS BECAUSE I WANT OWNERS OF TOYOTA TO BE AWARE OF HOW POORLY TOYOTA IS HANDLING THESE PROBLEM. I TOOK MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY TO WAL-MART JUST TO HAVE TIRE ROTATED, ON 7-2-2013 I WAS TOLD THE TIRES ON THE REAR WERE REALLY BAD ROUNDED OFF WITH BUMPS ON TIRES, I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS BAD, AND THAT HAD CAUSED THE BELTS TO BRAKE INSIDE MY TIRES. I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO SCOTT TOYOTA IN JASPER AL 1 YEAR BEFORE THIS AND HAD IT ALIGNMENT. I STILL HAVE MY PAPERWORK. I HAVE NOTICE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WAY IT HANDLED FOR A LONG TIME. ALSO THE SUNROOF HAS LEAKED LIKE A WATERFALL EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT. BUT TOYOTA SAYS IT'S NOT THERE PROBLEM. SPEAKING TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT CAMRY OWNERS, 50 PERCENT OF THEM HAVE REPLACED THE STRUTS AS WELL. MY MECHANIC NOTICED THAT ALL 4 STRUTS WERE LEAKING WHEN I HAD MY TIRES ROTATED. I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS VERY UNSTABLE ON THE ROAD AND SWAYING ALL OVER THE PLACE. TOOK THE CAR TO MY TOYOTA DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING, BUT ACCORDING TO TOYOTA EXTRA CARE, SOME LEAKAGE IS NORMAL AND THE STRUTS WERE NOT LEAKING ENOUGH TO HAVE THEM REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CAR CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND I TOOK IT BACK TO A TOYOTA DEALER ON 2/14/12. THEY TOLD ME ALL 4 STRUTS WERE LEAKING PAST THE NORMAL AMOUNT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THE FRONT AND REAL LINKS AND BUSHINGS SHOULD BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE CAR IS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND THERE IS NOISE FROM THESE COMPONENTS. THEY CONTACTED TOYOTA EXTRA CARE WHO SAID THEY NEEDED TO SEND AN ADJUSTER OUT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE ADJUSTER SAID THAT ONLY 2 STRUTS WERE LEAKING ENOUGH TO BE REPLACED AND NO OTHER PARTS NEEDED REPLACING. HE ALSO SAID HE DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE. AMAZING! EXTRA CARE HAS REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY ON THE OTHER PARTS BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY HAVE NOT FAILED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY SHOULD ALL BE REPLACED. I THINK IT IS ABSURD THAT TOYOTA EXTRA CARE IS STANDING ON A TECHNICALITY ON HOW MUCH THE STRUTS ARE LEAKING AND WILL NOT COVER ALL 4. THEY ARE LEAVING ME WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE CERTIFIED MECHANICS THAT HAVE LOOKED AT MY CAR ALL SAY THAT ONCE THE STRUT IS LEAKING IT SHOULD BE REPLACED NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY TOYOTA CAMRYS FROM THIS YEAR. I PAID FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND TOYOTA SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING. STARTED HEARING NOISE FOR REAR OF VEHICLE. AT 58,000 IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AS THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER AND THE VEHICLE JUST DID NOT HANDLE/DRIVE PROPERLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE ALL WORK DONE IN PAST. THEY ADVISED THE REAR TIRES WERE CUPPING, AND THAT ALL FOUR OF THE VEHICLES STRUTS WERE LEAKING TO THE POINT THEY MUST BE REPLACED. I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD TO REPLACE A STRUT ON A NEWER VEHICLE NO LESS ALL FOUR OF THEM. I BELIEVE THAT THERE HAS TO HAVE BEEN A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THESE STRUTS FOR ALL FOUR TO FAIL AROUND THE 50,000 MILE RANGE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE FROM 40 MPH, A NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT STRUTS WERE LEAKING OIL. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOT A FAILURE WITHIN THE STRUTS AND THE JERK IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS DUE TO THE WAY HE WAS DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,200.

FRONT END MAKING RUBBING AND CLICKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE WITH THE WHEEL TURNED; DOES NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING FORWARD AND DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE WHEELS ARE STRAIGHT. I'VE HAD IT IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. BOTH TIMES THEY SAY THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE PLASTIC WHEEL WELL RUBBING. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED A BOLT AND NOW THEY HAVE REMOVED ONE OF THE COVERS. WHILE TRYING TO DETERMINE WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE FRONT STRUTS WERE DISCOVERED AS LEAKING. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE STRUTS ARE LEAKING AND THEY AGREED. WHEN ASKED IF THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 50,123 MILES I WAS TOLD "IT IS NOT COMMON, BUT NOT UNHEARD OF." THIS WAS THE EXACT SAME ANSWER I WAS GIVEN FOR MY CRACKED AND LEAKING BATTERY WHICH WAS DISCOVERED THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT IN FOR THE NOISE. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACED THE STRUTS IN A NEW VEHICLE BEFORE...WHY SHOULD TOYOTA CAMRY'S BE ANY DIFFERENT? IT APPEARS THIS IS A DEFECT THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT WANT TO OWN UP TO. WANTS $850 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PARTS ONLY. WHO DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WHILE ROTATING AND BALANCING MY TIRES, WANTS $600 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PARTS ONLY, BUT SUGGESTS THE BACK BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME FOR EVEN WHERE ON ALL FOUR SIDES. I RECENTLY PURCHASE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SE. SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TOYOTA OF SANFORD, LOCATED IN NC, I NOTICE MY TIRES WERE CUPPING AND MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. I BOUGHT NEW TIRES AND THE NOISE STOPPED. JUST RECENTLY I TOOK THE CAR TO MIDAS TO HAVE A BRAKE JOB. WHILE THE MECHANIC HAD THE CAR ON THE LIFT, HE OBSERVED THAT THE REAR STRUTS WERE LEAKING FLUID AND ADVISED ME TO CONTACT TOYOTA. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY OF THESE NEW CAMRYS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR ONLY HAS 51000 MILES ON IT AND I THINK THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. I WORK VERY HARD EVERY DAY TO PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY AND PAY MY BILLS AND FEEL THAT IT IS A SHAME FOR ME TO SPEND TWENTY-THOUSAND DOLLARS ON A VEHICLE THAT STARTS TO FALL APART WITHIN TWO YEARS.
