You heard an odd noise coming from your front driver's side wheel while driving at 70 mph on the interstate. When you stopped to check, you found one of the five lug studs had broken off and two lug nuts were loose enough to turn by hand. After tightening the remaining lug nuts and driving for 15 minutes, the noise returned and the lug nuts were loose again, making the car unsafe to drive. The dealership determined the lug stud was corroded and snapped, even though they had inspected it during a tire rotation service 2,500 miles earlier. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the corroded lug stud and possibly resurfacing or replacing the wheel hub.
