While driving at 60 mph, your steering wheel suddenly jerked out of your hands and became very hard to turn in either direction. Your dealer found the steering rack and its wiring harness were faulty and replaced both parts. However, this same problem happened before — the wiring harness was replaced once already, but the steering failure came back again. Fixing this will likely require a complete steering rack replacement along with a new wiring harness and thorough electrical inspection to prevent the problem from recurring.

Your power steering suddenly becomes very hard to turn while driving, requiring much more effort to steer the vehicle. After pulling over, the steering returns to normal, but this problem happens repeatedly without any warning lights appearing. A dealer diagnosed water getting into the wiring connector for the power steering control module, causing it to fail. The connector seal didn't keep the water out, allowing moisture damage to the electrical system. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the wiring harness connector and power steering control module, plus sealing the connection to prevent future water intrusion.
