FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2009-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks currently, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Exposure to environmental conditions such as water mixed with road salt may cause the front fuel tank strap frame "T-Slot" bracket to corrode, possibly causing the fuel tank to drop and make contact with the ground.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will bolt a bracket reinforcement to the frame, free of charge. The recall began May 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U04.

Your fuel tank detached from underneath your vehicle while driving at 45 mph, dragging behind it by the wires. A bystander helped you secure it temporarily so you could drive home. Your dealer found that the front fuel tank strap bracket had corroded and needed replacement, which was completed. This issue was related to two NHTSA recalls your vehicle was subject to, but the manufacturer declined to perform the recall repair.

Your truck's fuel pump relay may fail, causing the fuel pump to run constantly or stop working entirely. This can prevent your truck from starting or cause it to run poorly while driving, which could lead to accidents. The relay is built into the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) and can't be replaced separately, so the fix typically involves bypassing the faulty relay or replacing the entire TIPM unit.

The contact owns a 2011 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to Meineke where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed integrated power module (TIPM). The contact was informed that the TIPM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.
Fule Pump continues running even when vehicle is turned off, leaking fuel, fire hazard, cruise control not functioning properly due to the issue,
There should be a recall on the problem I have had the same problem how can you guys cover the pump but not the electrical the most important part of the problem so stupid

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. MY TRUCK STALLED ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE ENGINE CRANKS BUT WOULDN'T START. AFTER SELF DIAGNOSTICS, I FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP ISN'T WORKING, CHECKED FUEL BYPASS RELAY, TIPM, TO SEE IF A BYPASS RELAY WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT ALL DIRECTIONS POINTS TO FUEL PUMP. MY TRUCK HAD BEEN TOWED FROM WHERE IS STALLED TO MY APARTMENT'S PARKING LOT AND IT REMAINS THERE AS I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET A NEW FUEL PUMP INSTALLED.
THE ENGINE IS STARTING BUT WOULDN'T RUN. I AM ASSUMING THAT IT MIGHT BE THE FUEL PUMP.
ANYTIME VEHICLE IS FUELED, UPON REACHING FULL, FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF FILLER NECK UNDER EXTREME PRESSURE. SOMETIMES BEFORE, BUT USUALLY AFTER THE NOZZLE HAS SHUTOFF DELIVERY. FUEL SHOOTS/ SPRAYS UP TO 2 FEET AWAY FROM VEHICLE CREATING A SERIOUS FIRE / ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. IT IS HARD TO JUDGE THE AMOUNT SPRAYED, BUT I SUSPECT ANYWHERE FROM A PINT TO 1/2 GALLON DEPENDING ON CIRCUMSTANCES AND FACTORS. SPEED OF DELIVERY AND THE AMOUNT TANK IS EMPTY. THE LOWER THE LEVEL THE WORSE/ FARTHER THE SPRAY. DELIVERY APPEARS TO PRESSURIZE THE TANK AND CAUSE SPRAY CONDITION NO MATTER WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE TAKEN TO AVOID. I PURCHASED VEHICLE USED AROUND 1 YEAR AGO AT A DEALER AND THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT FILLING STATIONS, EVEN THE NIGHT PURCHASED EVERY SINCE.

WHEN FILLING GAS TANK AT THE PUMP, THE TANK BECOMES FULL AND THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY AS EXPECTED BUT THEN A BIG SLUG OF GAS SURGES OUT OF THE FILL NECK AND SPLASHES ALL OVER ME AND THE TRUCK. HAPPENS AY EVERY FILL AND EVERY STATION. COMMON PROBLEM, DODGE IS WELL AWARE. DEFINITE FIRE HAZARD!

AFTER THE TRUCK IS PARKED, AND THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED THE FUEL PUMP MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN, DRAINING THE BATTERY.
I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 80 ON MY WAY TO WORK.THE FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP HOLDER WELDED TO THE FRAME RUSTED THROUGH AND THE TANK DROPPED ALMOST TO THE GROUND,I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO CHECK OUT THE NOISE. THE TANK WAS HANGING BY THE FUEL LINES. LUCKILY FOR ME I STOPPED. I STRAPPED THE TANK BACK IN WITH RATCHET STRAPS AND GOT TO WORK OKAY. THEN I JACKED IT UP TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SECURED. CALLED CHRYSLER AND DEALERSHIP ABOUT A RECALL AND WAS TOLD NOT YET
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,FOLLOWED BY " THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR " TRUCK ALMOST STALLED , THEN SEEMED SLUGGISH . DEALERSHIP REPLACED ACCELERATOR RELATED SENSOR. 2 WEEKS LATER, SAME THING HAPPENED, SAME LOCATION, ONLY THIS TIME, AFTER ALMOST STALLING, TRUCK HAD LITTLE POWER. TAKING A RIGHT TURN AT THE NEXT STREET I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHEN L TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL, CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY ARE EXAMINING THE WIRE HARNESS FOR A SHORT. I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL FEEL SAFE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE AGAIN.
FUEL SPITS-BACK ON SIDE OF VEHICLE AND GROUND WHILE FILLING TANK. HAPPENS BOTH ON AUTOMATIC FILL, BOTH SLOW AND FAST FILL, AND ALSO WHEN MANUALLY FILLING TANK. HAPPENS JUST AS THE BACK PRESSURE SENSOR ON THE SERVICE STATION GAS PUMP TRIPS OFF WHEN TANK IS NEARING FULL. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN DECEMBER 2016 WITH APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES. THE SPIT BACK DID NOT START UNTIL RECENTLY, APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 2017. HAPPENS EVERY TIME TANK IS FILLED NOW. IF MANUALLY STOP NOZZLE BEFORE TANK IS FULL IT DOES NOT HAPPEN.
TRUCK WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THE TIPM MODULE WHICH CONTROLS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS BAD. LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHERS DEALING WITH THE ISSUE ON THE 4.7 RAM 1500. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE THE OWNERS $1,250 TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY KNOW ABOUT. PURCHASED TRUCK ON JANUARY 13, 2017. IT HAD 75,000 MILES ON IT.
TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE. ENGINE CRANKS, BUT WILL NOT START. THIS IS A WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH MANY CHRYSLER AND DODGE MODELS. DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS "RARE". TYPE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE IN GOOGLE AND SEE THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. LUCKY THAT MINE FAILED AT HOME IN MY DRIVEWAY. DEALER WANTED $1200 TO FIX. ORDERED PARTS ONLINE ($250) AND FIXED MYSELF AFTER WATCHING YOUTUBE VIDEOS. EASY FIX. DON'T LET DEALER OR MECHANIC TELL YOU OTHERWISE. TOOK ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES. BASICALLY UNPLUG TO OLD TIPM AND PLUG IN THE REPLACEMENT. CHRYSLER/DODGE USED A CHEAP FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT IS FAILING WHICH REQUIRES THE ENTIRE TIPM TO BE REPLACED OR THE FUEL RELAY TO BE REPAIRED (WHICH MOST PEOPLE CAN'T DO THEMSELVES). FAILING TIPM CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO NOT START, BATTERY DRAIN (FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO RUN AFTER VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF YOU CAN HEAR IT RUNNING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE) AND WIPERS, LIGHTS AND DOOR LOCKS CAN ACTIVATE AUTOMATICALLY EVEN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. CHRYSLER/DODGE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL THEIR VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS DEFECTIVE TIPM!!
WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE FROM JUST MAKING A TURN AND ACCELERATING TO THE ROAD WAY SPEED OF 30 MPH, THE STAINLESS STEEL STRAP THAT SECURES THE FUEL TANK TO THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A FAILURE. THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY CORROSION OF THE FRAME CHASSIS AND THE STRAP SEPARATING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE 32 GALLON FUEL TANK TO LOWER TOWARD THE ROAD WAY AND THE REMAINING STRAP TO DRAG ALONG THE STREET PAVEMENT . THIS FAILURE CREATED A RISK OF FIRE/ AND SPARKS FROM THE DRAGGING METAL.

VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER (SHUT OFF/STALLED) WHILE IN MOTION ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS; 1ST TIME VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 80MPH ON FREEWAY; BRAKES AND STEERING LOST POWER FUNCTION MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO PULL OVER TO EMERGENCY SHOULDER AND AVOID POSSIBLE COLLISION; EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION; 2ND TIME VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING FROM STOP TO APPROXIMATELY 20MPH ON CITY STREET THEN LOST ALL POWER, HAD TO COAST VEHICLE ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND WAS NOT ABLE TO PULL OVER OUT OF BUS LANE; VEHICLE WAS NOT OUT OF GAS, NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS WERE ON, VEHICLE WILL NOT START (AS IF FUEL PUMP FAILED) TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS OR ANY SPEED AND LOSING ALL POWER IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS. ADDING THAT MOST PROBABLY TOW TRAILERS, ETC...MAKES THIS EVEN MORE HAZARDOUS. ALSO, WE ARE IN AZ WITH EXTREME HEAT, TRAVELING WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN, AND TO BE RANDOMLY STRANDED WITH ZERO POWER CAUSES ADDITIONAL LIFE THREATENING HAZARDS I PERSONALLY REQUEST, AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND FINDING AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED AND THOSE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY WAY OF REQUIRED RECALL AND RESOLUTION
ITS A SIN AND A SHAME THAT THESE BRIGHT MINDS WENT AWAY FROM THE STANDARD I PIECE RELAY IN THE FUSE BOX TO THIS COMPUTER MESS EVERY MORNING I GO TO WORK AT 4 AM AND I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY ON AND LET IT SIT FOR 10 TO 15 MIN BEFORE IT WILL START AND THEN DURING THE DAY IF I LET IT SIT FOR MORE THAT AN 1 HR I HAVE TO LET IT SIT ANOTHER 15 MIN BEFORE I CAN START THE TRUCK I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL DODGE/CHRYSLER OWNER SINCE 1999 AND UNTIL NOW HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY UNTIL NOW IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FIX IT AT NO CHARGE THATS THE WAY A REAL MANUFACTURER KEEPS ITS CUSTOMERS HAPPY
I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE GETTING MY TRUCK TO START. THIS PAST WEEKEND ( 3/11/2017 ) WHILE I WAS OUT SHOPPING, IT WOULDN'T START WHEN I GOT BACK IN IT. IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS. I THOUGHT THE FUEL PUMP HAD WENT OUT. I GOT IT TOWED, HAS THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE TIPM IS THE PROBLEM. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM FOR YEARS AND NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'M JUST GLAD I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS THING GAVE OUT INSTEAD ON THE HIGHWAY.
FUEL ALWAYS SPILLS EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK. I THINK IT MIGHT BE A DANGEROUS. OVERSPILL ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN FILLING TANK
FUEL PUMP WILLNOT SHUT OFF ,DOORS UNLOCKS AND LOCKS BY THEMSELVES, WINDOWS OPEN AND CLOSE BY THEMSELVES , TRUCK LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES IT ACTS AS IF IT'S STARVING FOR FUEL AND WILL NOT START
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT LOW SPEED, ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. DURING UP HILL CITY DRIVING, ENGINE WILL NOT MAINTAIN CONSTANT RPM OR SMOOTH ACCELERATION. IT TAKE APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES TO START THE VEHICLE. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND NOW THE BATTERY IS DRAINING EASILY AND IT WILL NOT START UNLESS YOU SWITCH IT ON AND TAKE IT OUT OF PARK INTO DRIVE FOR ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE TIMES. WHEN YOU PUT IT BACK IN PARK IT WILL START. I HAVE REVIEWED A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM OTHER OWNERS. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER DEALER THAT IT MAY BE THE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY BUT OTHERS WERE TOLD THAT TOO AND THEY STILL HAD THE SAME STARTING ISSUE AFTER PAYING A HUGE EXPENSE FOR THIS TYPE OF REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STALLING AND FAILURES WITH STARTING. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. UPDATE INSTALLED AND HAS NOT CORRECTED PROBLEM. MOST LIKELY HAS FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.. ..UPDATED 11/01/16 *BF THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULTY. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM BY SUPPLYING POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP, USING AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE. UPDATED 11/03/16.*JB
MY FUEL PUMP WONT STOP RUNNING AFTER VEHICLE IS SWITCH OFF, DRAINING MY BATTERY. TRUCK WON'T START UNTIL NUMEROUS TRIES AND SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE AT A TYPICAL GAS STATION, AND THE STATION'S FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY, FUEL COMES UP THE FUEL FILLER NECK AND WASHES DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT DOES HAPPEN MOST OF THE TIME, AND AT VARIOUS STATION LOCATIONS AND VARIOUS STATION COMPANIES. I'VE READ OTHER REPORTS THAT INDICATE THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR VEHICLES. AS SOON AS I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER, HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM. PER THE SERVICE MANAGER, THIS ISSUE HAS ONLY BEEN ADDRESSED WITH REGARD TO A FEW VEHICLE MODELS AND YEARS, AND THIS ONE IS NOT COVERED. WORKING WITH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE, A CASE NUMBER HAS BEEN OPENED. THE DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO LOWER THE COST OF THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE, HOWEVER WE WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR THE PART AND THE REPAIR FOR A KNOWN DEFECT. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 'WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN' AND THE "ABOUT HOW MANY MILES WERE ON YOUR VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT' FIELDS DON'T REALLY APPLY, AS THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, AND CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME I GO THE THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP THE VEHICLE. THE DATE I PROVIDED FOR THE 'WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN' FIELD IS THE DATE THAT I VISITED THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND SPOKE WITH DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

MY FUEL PUMP STAY ON WHEN I TURN OFF THE PICK UP AND WHEN IM DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IT WILL JUST SHUT DOWN NOW IT WILL NOT START WHEN COLD.(DEALERSHIP) SEZ IT A BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT IS INTERGRATED TO THE FUSE BOX. MY WIPERS WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. (DEALERSHIP) SEZ IT'S THE FUSE BOX AND HAS TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,000 MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 12,500 MILES ON IT AND IS 5YRS OLD. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES.

WHEN PULLING OUT OF BUSINESS DRIVEWAY ONTO BUSY RD., TRUCK JUST DIED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. HAD TO GET TOW TO SHOP AND HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACED. FUEL PUMPS DON'T JUST GO OUT AT 30,000 MILES ALL AT ONCE BUT, THIS ONE DID AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE TRUCKS. SITTING CROSSWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD IS DEFINITELY UNSAFE! THANK THE GOOD LORD FOR THE GOOD SAMARITANS WHO HELPED ME PUSH IT OUT OF THE ROAD, I AM 68 YRS OLD AND NOT IN THE BEST OF HEALTH.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE TRUCK WITH GAS, ONCE THE TANK IS FULL THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF AND A SECOND LATER GAS OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE ALL OVER ME THE TRUCK AND THE GROUND. I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND THEY HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. THIS IS A VERY MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALER NOE CHRYSLER WILL REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE. *TR
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE MALFUNCTION. FUEL PUMP CONSTANTLY STAYS ON, EVEN WHEN NO KEY IN TRUCK, DRAINS THE BATTERY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

A SECOND REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VAPOR CANISTER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,292.
PURCHASED NEW, IN NOV 2010. WHEN FILLING UP THE NOZZLE CLICKS AND SPRAYS FUEL BACK ON YOU AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK APPX LOSS OF .5 GALLONS PER FILL UP. EVEN IF IT MISSES YOU YOUR HAND WILL BE COVERED IN GAS AND CAUSES CRACKS IN YOUR FINGERS NOW THAT ITS WINTER. I CANNOT IMAGE IT IS GOOD FOR THE PAINT EITHER. *TR
I RAN INTO THIS ISSUE LAST WINTER AND WHEN THE WEATHER WARMED UP IT WENT AWAY. NOW, AGAIN IN DECEMEBER, WHEN FUELING THE TRUCK AT THE PUMP, AFTER IT REACHES FULL CAPACITY IT SPITS FUEL BACK OUT ALL OVER THE TRUCK AND ONTO THE GROUND. DOES IT AT EVERY PUMP. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT LAST YEAR AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE WITH OTHER DODGE AND JEEP MODELS. *TR
