Airbags Recalls (4)
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, 2002-2004 Pathfinder, 2007-2011 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback, 2001-2004 Infiniti I30 and I35, 2002-2003 Inifiniti QX4, 2003-2008 Infiniti FX35 and FX45 and 2006-2010 M35 and M45 vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated, frontal passenger air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators with alternate desiccated inflators, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 888-737-9511 or Infiniti customer service at 888-810-3715.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2002-2006 Sentra vehicles whose passenger air bags were previously inspected and may have been released without replacing the Takata air bag inflator. In the event of a crash, Takata frontal passenger air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Fix: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been completed. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will re-inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, replace the air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began January 22, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PM964.
AIR BAGS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2001-2003 Nissan Maxima, 2002-2004 Pathfinder, 2002-2006 Sentra, 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 and I35, 2003 FX35 and FX45, and 2001 I30 vehicles. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on June 15, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: On December 18, 2015 Nissan informed NHTSA of an amendment of this recall to remove 2004-2005 Infiniti FX35 and FX45 vehicles.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain air bag inflator replacement service parts that may have been installed as part of a theft or collision repair. The parts include certain passenger-side air bag inflators designed to fit Infiniti 2002-2003 QX4, 2006-2010 M35 and M45; Nissan 2001-2003 Maxima, 2002-2006 Sentra, and both driver and passenger-side inflators designed to fit 2007-2012 Versa Sedan and Versa Hatchback vehicles. Please see Nissan's recall report for the specific part numbers. These replacement inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the inflators as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 14, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

Your car has a safety recall for the passenger airbag, but local Nissan dealers won't repair it—one said they don't have the part in stock. You're concerned the airbag could fail or deploy unexpectedly. Getting this fixed will require contacting Nissan to order the recalled airbag assembly and having a dealer install it once parts are available.

Your Sentra was hit head-on by a truck traveling about 40 mph, causing severe front-end damage and totaling the vehicle. Neither the driver-side nor passenger-side airbag deployed during the collision, leaving you and your daughter without that protection. Your car was sent to salvage before you had a chance to take it in for a known airbag recall. The repair would have involved replacing the airbag system components as part of the safety recall.

While driving 65 mph, your brake pedal failed to engage, causing you to rear-end another vehicle. Your front airbags did not deploy and your seat belts failed to restrain you and your passenger, resulting in both of you hitting the windshield and sustaining head, neck, and back injuries. The vehicle had previously been serviced for an airbag recall several months before this crash. The brake failure, airbag non-deployment, and seat belt failure all occurred together in this collision.

Your air bag warning light has been flashing continuously, which indicates a problem with your air bag system. This could mean your air bags may not deploy properly in a crash. You'll need to have a Nissan dealer diagnose and repair the air bag control module or wiring to resolve the warning light.

Your 2005 Nissan Sentra is subject to a Takata airbag recall (NHTSA Campaign 20V008000), but the dealership has been unable to complete the repair because the replacement parts aren't available. You've been waiting longer than a reasonable amount of time for this safety recall to be fixed. The repair will involve replacing the faulty Takata airbag components with new ones once parts become available.

You received a recall notice for your 2005 Nissan Sentra's airbags, but the replacement part wasn't available when you tried to get it fixed. You've been waiting longer than seems reasonable for the manufacturer to supply the part needed for the repair. The manufacturer knows about this delay, and you haven't experienced any airbag failure yet. Getting this recall completed will require the dealership to obtain and install the correct airbag component for your vehicle.

I AM VERY UNSAFE DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE WITH A TAKATA AIRBAG THAT CAN BECOME A DEATH INSTRUMENT AT ANY TIME BY SHOOTING PARTS INTO MY BRAIN AND BODY. *TR
1) I HEARD THAT AIRBAGS ON MY CAR MAY NOT FUNCTION AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO. THERE MAY BE A RECALL. PLEASE ADVISE. 2) FOR THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS, I HAVE NOTICED A THUMPING SOUND/VIBRATION WHEN I PRESS MY BRAKES. IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERYDAY. SOME DAYS, AFTER THE CAR IS DRIVEN A FEW MILES, EVERY SINGLE TIME I USE MY BRAKES THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT, I WAS DRIVING AND HAD TO PUT ON BRAKES SUDDENLY AND I HEARD IT. NOW IT STILL HAPPENS, BUT I HEAR AND FEEL A THUMPING UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR ON THE LEFT BACK-WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER SITTING BEHIND THE DRIVER AND THIS SOUND OCCURS, THEY REPORT TO ME THAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY FEEL THE THUMP UNDER THEIR FEET. OTHER DAYS I DON'T HEAR IT ALL. IF I HAVE A FULL LOAD OF FOUR PEOPLE, I HEAR IT AND FEEL IT FREQUENTLY. SOMETIME IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS UNDER THE TRUNK OR IN THAT BACK SEAT AREA. WE HAD THE CAR EXAMINED BY A LOCAL REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP, THEY DID NOT HEAR THE THUMP AND STATED THEY WOULD HAVE TO HEAR IT OR FEEL IT IN ORDER TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS.. THEY DID EXAMINE THE CAR AND FOUND NOTHING THAT SHOULD BE MAKING THIS NOISE, IN THEIR OPINION. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT IS GOING ON. CURRENT MILEAGE: 172,000. CELL PHONE: [XXX]. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN SENTRA WHICH MY DAUGHTER DRIVES. THIS CAR HAS FRONT AIRBAGS AS WELL AS SIDE AIRBAGS. MY DAUGHTER HAD AN ACCIDENT 2 YEARS AGO. SHE HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR. THERE WAS $4,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. I WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ON SATURDAY SHE WAS DRIVING TO NY FROM VA AND WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH AND A CAR STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. SHE TRIED TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY, BUT ENDED UP SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF THE OTHER CAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR YESTERDAY....AGAIN NON OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND IT ALSO SMASHED THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, FRONT OR SIDE. *TR
