My car is a 2013 Rogue S with 118,000 miles. Two weeks ago I was on the I-95 at around 70 miles an hour and the car suddenly goes to 45 miles, despite my insistence to maintain my speed, I had to give up and pull over to the right ... I was able to go home at low speed and this experience traumatized me. After that I consulted a mechanic who told me without joking that these cars have the worst transmission and I should contact Nissan. I contacted Nissan customer service to explain the problem, they told me no and gave me a case number (52135330). After checking, it turns out that following repeated complaints Nissan would have increased the warranty up to 120,000 miles, but not for me!

Since about 100,000 miles the engine valve cover/gasket is leaking engine oil which has leaked below and caused deterioration on other parts below like the tie rod boots etc. Vehicle is currently in the shop and I can send any documentation once I get it back.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH on the highway, other vehicles were honking attempting to get her attention. Then a strong abnormal odor was coming the vehicle and it was discovered that there was a fire coming from the driver’s side footwell. The contact merged to the shoulder of the highway and safety exited the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. The police were on the scene and a report was filed. The origin of the fire was unknown. The contact stated that she sustained emotional distress due to the failure. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure and no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 260,000. The VIN was not provided.

only a month after I bought the car I was going normal highway speeds(around 70mph) and it felt as if my car slipped into neutral, I had 0 acceleration and continued to slow down on the highway, I shifted into low gear and back to drive and it picked up again. This has happened four more times where the cars automatic transmission has slipped.

After driving on the freeway in hot weather the car car decelerates and will not accelerate. Car goes from 65 MPH to around 40 MPH. This is a very dangerous situation in traffic. This has happened several times every year since we bought car. I have 'googled' this and it seems to be quite common with this Nissan model. Also other Nissan models. I am afraid to take this car on any road trip. Nissan will not address this issue. Something needs to be resolved before someone gets killed in this car!

SIMILAR TO OTHER NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS OUR 2013 ROGUE HAS LOST POWER WHILE DRIVE ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND OFTEN STRUGGLES TO KEEP SPEED. ONE INSTANCEWE WERE AT A RED LIGHT ON A STEEP INCLINE WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER. THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACK TOWARD THE CAR BEHIND AND WE NEARLY AVOIDED A COLLISION. WE NOTICED THIS ISSUE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AND SEVERAL TIMES AFTER TO REPORT THE ISSUE BUT THEY KEPT SAYING NOTHING WAS WRONG. WE HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDEDMAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS FROM NISSAN BUT NOW AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS ENDEDTHEY INFORMED US WE NEED TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION.NISSAN HAS BEEN ACTING VERY UNETHICALLY AND ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITYFOR THIS ISSUE THAT COULD BE FATAL TO OTHER DRIVERS.

MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO GO INTO LIMP MODE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. A MECHANIC STATES THAT IT THE CVT, TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I JUST WENT OVER MY WARRANTY AND NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET 3,000-5,000 DOLLARS TO HAVE FIXED. I HAVE SPOKE WITH MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, 2013-2018 WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT TAKE THE GAS AND ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE RODE THREE TIMES DURING MY TRIP. ONCE I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF, IT WOULD DRIVE NORMAL UNTIL I DROVE FOR ANOTHER HOUR OR MORE.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO MATT CASTRUCCI NISSAN (3013 MALL PARK DR, DAYTON, OH 45459, (855) 299-1946) TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THEY HAD TO "DROP THE PAN". THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY 60% OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

IT IS SCARY WHEN YOU ARE NEEDING TO TURN OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION FOR INSTANCE, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY ENOUGH, WHICH A PERSON COULD BE HIT BY OTHER ONCOMING CARS. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM AND AFTER THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED TO ME, I TOOK IT INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH THE 2013 ROGUES. SO AFTER LEARNING THAT, I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND FOUND THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR ROGUES. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW THAT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT CAR. THE DEALER (ABELOFF NISSAN, 3259 PA-611, BARTONSVILLE, PA 18321, (877) 715-4935) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE VEHICLE LEFT THE DEALER, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE, BUT THE DEALER INSISTED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE AND SENT THE CONTACT A COMPUTER PRINTOUT TO BACK UP THEIR OPINION. CVT TRANSMISSION DIED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THREE DIFFERENT TIMES THIS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE HIGHWAY GOING AT 75 MPH AND LOST COMPLETE ACCELERATION WITH THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY. MY RPMS WENT UP TO 8000 THIS LAST TIME. ROSEN NISSAN IN MADISON DID THE DIAGNOSTIC ON IT ON THE THURSDAY PRIOR TO MY DEPARTURE ON MY TRIP , AND SAID THAT ALL THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED. APPARENTLY THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. PRIOR TO MY HAVING THIS ALL DONE I HAD RESEARCHED WHY MY CAR WOULD STOP ACCELERATING COMPLETELY AND THE REASONS WERE DUE TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH HAD BEEN RECALLED IN A NUMBER OF ROGUES AND MURANO AND VERSA'S. MANY HAD TO HAVE THEIR TRANSMISSIONS REPLACED AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES ON SOME OF THE MODELS TO 120K/10 YR. MINE WASN'T! TELL ME WHY A CAR WITH 110K THAT'S 5 YRS OLD WOULD ALL OF A SUDDEN DIE IF THERE'S NOT SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ACTUAL RELIABILITY OF THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS BUILT IN THE FIRST PLACE? GOING IN CIRCLES WITH NISSAN THEY'RE DENYING ANYTHING WRONG ON THEIR END AND WON'T REPLACE SOMETHING THAT CLEARLY A LOT OF ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH THIS TRANSMISSION!! IS SAFTY HAZORD ON ROAD BECAUSE IT WILL STALL OUT WITH NO NOTICE AND NO WAY TO EVEN GET POWER TO MOVE OFF OF ROAD IF COME TO COMPLETE STOP AFTER 2-3 HR DRIVE AND STOP AT LIGHT. DATE IT HAS HAPPENED ARE SEVERAL 08/25/2014 (CASPER OVERPASS) 09/10/2015 (LANDERS WY ON HWY) 05/18/18 ON I-70 GOING UP EISENHOWER PASS/TUNNEL NO POWER MADE IT TO TOWN AND STOPPED TO EAT TO GIVE TIME TO COOL OFF BUT WITH THEY WAY THE CAR HAS PREFOMED IN PAST AND WAS LOSING POWER IF MPS WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TO 20MPS AND I WOULD HAVE STOPPED CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN STALLED AT LEAST 15 MIN ON THE ROAD. THE ONLY THING I HATE ABOUT THE ROGUE IS LOSS OF POWER AND OVERHEATING. PLEASE F/U WITH MANUFACTURE TO CHECK INTO ENGINE OVERHEATING. I KNOW MY SISTER ALSO OWNED ONE THAT HAD TO HAVE HEAT SENSOR PLACED ON ENGINE TO HELP WITH OVERHEATING ON ONE SIDE AND HERE MODEL WAS ALSO A ROGUE CLOSE TO SAME YEAR. DRIVING FROM YUMA TO SAN DIEGO DOING 70 TO 80 MILES PER HOUR UNTIL I HIT THE HILLS. I REDUCED MY SPEED TO 65 AND SET MY CRUISE CONTROL. NEVER HAD A/C ON IT WAS STILL COOL, BEFORE NOON. HALF-WAY THROUGH THE HILLS I LOST ACCELERATION AND CRUISE CONTROL SHUT-OFF. REST OF THE WAY THROUGH THE HILLS WAS IN THE SLOW LANE/EMERGENCY LANE GOING 25 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. FINALLY MADE IT THROUGH THE HILLS BUT BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO EXIT I8 I WAS GOING 20 THEN 15 THEN 10 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER AN HOUR OF LETTING THE CAR SIT I STARTED AGAIN PUT IN IN REVERSE AND THAT'S AS FAR AS I GOT. I HAD NO POWER AT ALL IN "D" OR "L", HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED 51 MILES. OBVIOUSLY NISSAN HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROGUE MODEL AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM.

THIS ISSUED LASTED FOR SEVERAL MILES UNTIL IT JUST STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED OFF AND ON FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP TO AND FROM CALIFORNIA . THERE WAS EVEN MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE THE ROGUE WOULD NOT EXCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT . I PUSHED THE GAS MEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD MOVE MORE THAN 5-10 MPH FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET UNTIL IT WORKED AGAIN. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. WE LIVE IN ARIZONA WITH EXTREME HEAT AND I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLE'S POSTS ABOUT HEAT COULD BE A PROBLEM, HOWEVER WE SEE EXTREME TEMPERATURES EVERY YEAR SINCE WE OWNED IT WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW.

WHEN DRIVING UPHILL THE VEHICLE ALMOST STALLS AND ACTS LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL, IT SLOWS DRAMATICALLY AND TAKES AWHILE TO RECOVER POWER. I CANNOT ACCELERATE. IF THERE IS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME, IT GETS VERY CLOSE, VERY FAST. THIS HAPPENS ON REGULAR BLACK TOP ROADS AND DIRT ROADS.THIS VEHICLE ALSO POPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON ROUGH DIRT ROADS AND UPHILL (I LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD). THIS IS NOT "OFF ROAD DRIVING." BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE ONGOING SINCE I GOT THIS VEHICLE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS NEW. THEN I THOUGHT I WAS DRIVING INCORRECTLY. NOW I KNOW IT IS JUST THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOUR TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, A ROARING NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS ADJUSTED AND THE MOTOR MOUNT REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. IN ADDITION, A SPECIALIST PERFORMED AN INVESTIGATION AND THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,822.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2013 NISSAN ROGUE IN APRIL OF 2013. WE ASSUMED THAT THE ROGUE WOULD HAVE THE SAME 2.5 LITER ENGINE AS THE 2009 ALTIMA WE OWN AND LIKE. AS SOON AS WE DROVE ROGUE ON OUR FIRST TRIP INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF NC WE DISCOVERED A PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING UP A GENTLE SLOPE THE RPM WILL GO FROM 2000 TO 3000 WITHOUT ANY APPRECIATIVE INCREASE IN SPEED, WHEN MORE SPEED IS REQUIRED TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC OR TO PASS, AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO 5000RPM NO INCREASE IN SPEED IS AVAILABLE. I FEEL EXACTLY LIKE SOMETHING IS SLIPPING. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO PASS ANY CAR BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE ANY POWER RESERVE AVAILABLE. AT THE HIGH RPM THE ENGINE IS ALSO USING A LOT OF FUEL. MY WIFE AND I ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.
