Open Safety Recalls (5)
NHTSA Campaign: 21V742000
Component: SEATS:MID/REAR ASSEMBLY:HEAD RESTRAINT
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 Pathfinder vehicles. The third-row headrests may have an improper weld or misaligned internal components, which can allow the headrest to move or detach. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
Risk: Headrests that move or detach may not adequately restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will replace all three third-row seat headrests, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 17, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC844.
NHTSA Campaign: 21V743000
Component: SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 Pathfinder vehicles. The second-row seat back frames may have insufficient welds that could separate.
Risk: Seat backs with separated welds may fail to adequately restrain occupants during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replaced the seat assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 17, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PC845, PC846, and PC847.
NHTSA Campaign: 21V706000
Component: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 Pathfinder vehicles. Insufficient welds may allow the secondary hood latch retainer bracket to detach from the front bumper assembly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 113, "Hood Latch System."
Risk: A detached secondary hood latch may allow the hood to open if the primary hood latch is not engaged, obstructing the driver's view and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the secondary hood latch bracket as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 17, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC840.
NHTSA Campaign: 22V111000
Component: SEATS:CRITICAL FASTENERS
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 INFINITI QX60 and Nissan Pathfinder vehicles. The second-row seat track may be missing a mounting bolt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
Risk: A missing mounting bolt may allow the seat track to move during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the second-row seat track and install a new mounting bolt as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PC867 and PC868.
NHTSA Campaign: 22V527000
Component: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Rogue, 2022 Frontier, Pathfinder, and Titan rental vehicles. When the Sirius XM subscription is set to "Not Subscribed," it may cause the infotainment head unit to reboot, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Risk: An inoperative rearview camera display reduces the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: The Infotainment system software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 29, 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22A5 PC901 PC902.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 124)
Service Brakes →4 issues
Your Pathfinder's brakes are wearing out much faster than normal—you've already replaced them twice and are on your third set at just 65,000 miles, with only 6,000 miles on the current set. You're experiencing a dragging sensation where the brakes feel like they aren't fully releasing, which makes stopping take longer than it should. This issue may involve the brake calipers, brake pads, or rotors, and you'll likely need a brake system inspection and replacement of worn components.

Your rear brakes are wearing out much faster than expected, and you're hearing grinding noises without any warning light on your dashboard. The dealer says this is normal for your vehicle, but you're concerned because brakes shouldn't fail this quickly under normal driving conditions. The fix will likely involve replacing the rear brake pads and possibly having the rotors inspected or resurfaced.

Your rear brakes are wearing out much faster than normal—you've had to replace them 4 times by 44,000 miles, compared to lasting around 41,000 miles on your previous 2015 Pathfinder. Nissan has covered some replacement costs, and the last service included replacing both the brake pads and rotors. The rear brake system may be undersized for your vehicle, causing premature wear.

Your 2022 Pathfinder is making a high-pitched squeaking noise when you reverse, even though it only has about 20,000 miles. Other owners report being told their rear brake pads are worn down to metal while the front brakes are fine, suggesting a brake system defect that's causing uneven wear.

Unknown Or Other →3 issues
Your sunroof suddenly shattered into glass fragments without warning while you were driving on the interstate at normal highway speeds, with your family in the vehicle. The interior shade was closed at the time, which prevented glass from falling into the cabin, but you heard loud shattering sounds and glass bouncing above you. There were no warning signs beforehand, no visible impact damage, and no debris on the road that could have caused it. The sunroof will need to be replaced and the cause of the spontaneous failure should be investigated by the dealer.

While driving at 65 mph on a cloudy day, the rear section of your panoramic sunroof suddenly shattered with a loud noise, leaving a softball-sized hole. You found no debris, no signs of impact damage to your car, and no object visible inside the sunroof—the vehicle ahead was 150 feet away and there was no rain or wind. The sunroof will likely need to be completely replaced, as the glass cannot be safely repaired.

You're experiencing a gurgling sound from the passenger side during rain or after washing, and you've noticed water leaking into your cabin from the upper middle console area and around the passenger window. This could be related to either the windshield seal or the moonroof seal. The repair will likely involve inspecting and resealing or replacing the weatherstripping around the windshield or moonroof to prevent water intrusion.

Power Train,electrical System,engine →2 issues
Your 2022 Pathfinder has shifted into neutral by itself twice while driving at normal speed, causing sudden loss of power in traffic — a serious safety risk. Your vehicle displayed a "SERVICE A/T" message and check engine light before and after these events. The dealership found a failed mass air flow sensor and an electrical problem, but couldn't reproduce or identify what's causing the unexpected neutral shifts. The underlying transmission or powertrain issue remains undiagnosed and could require replacing the failed sensor, repairing electrical connections, and thorough transmission diagnostics.

Your 2022 Pathfinder stalled after a gas station visit and wouldn't restart, with unknown warning lights appearing on the dashboard. The transmission was stuck in Drive and couldn't shift to Park or Neutral. After the dealer recharged the battery and reprogrammed the transmission control module, your vehicle would lose power while driving at various speeds — requiring you to stop, turn it off, and restart to regain operation. This power loss has happened multiple times, and the problem recently recurred with warning lights again appearing. The fix may involve diagnosing and potentially replacing the fuel pump or transmission control module components, as well as addressing any electrical system issues.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your airbag warning light is on, and the system is showing it may not work properly in a crash. The dealership has seen this same problem on multiple vehicles like yours but wants you to wait for a recall instead of getting it fixed now. Since airbags are critical safety equipment, a non-functioning system puts you at serious risk of injury or death if you're in an accident. The dealer will likely need to diagnose and replace faulty airbag system components.

Engine →1 issue
Your 2022 Nissan Pathfinder experienced a complete engine failure at 70,000 miles with severe engine knocking, even though no warning lights appeared beforehand and the vehicle was properly maintained with regular oil changes. This sudden failure could be dangerous if it happens while driving at highway speeds or in traffic. The repair required a full engine replacement costing over $8,000, which fell outside the manufacturer's warranty coverage. Addressing this issue may require a complete engine replacement or a thorough diagnostic inspection to determine the root cause of the failure.

Visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your panoramic moonroof has shattered without any impact or warning, creating flying glass that poses a serious safety risk. This is the second time this has happened to your vehicle—once in October 2022 and again in July 2025. Replacing the moonroof assembly will likely be necessary to resolve this recurring issue.

Vehicle Speed Control,service Brakes,engine →1 issue
Your car has experienced multiple serious issues: the engine unexpectedly shifts into neutral while driving on the highway, and once shifted into park while you were pulling out of your driveway, leaving you stuck in the road. Your brakes required complete replacement before 20,000 miles, and at 93,000 miles your engine failed completely and needed full replacement. Your sunroof has also been leaking. Resolving these issues would require diagnosis and replacement of the transmission control module, brake system components, and engine assembly.

Structure,unknown Or Other →1 issue
While driving on a clear road with no other vehicles nearby, your sunroof suddenly exploded without warning, creating a loud noise that startled you and your family. Although no one was injured and no other cars were involved, the sudden noise caused panic that could have led to an accident. The sunroof will likely need to be completely replaced and inspected to determine what caused the failure.

Power Train →1 issue
Your transmission is shifting itself into Neutral while you're driving at normal speeds, causing the engine to rev up and your vehicle to slow down. You have to manually shift back into Drive to resume normal driving. This has happened several times in different weather conditions and at various engine temperatures, mostly below 40 mph, and once even while parked where the transmission got stuck until you cycled the power. Replacing your OEM battery resolved the issue, though there were no obvious signs the battery was failing. The fix may involve diagnosing the electrical system and battery connection to the transmission control module.

Air Bags,engine →1 issue
Your airbag warning light turned on unexpectedly. Additionally, your electronic emissions control system appears to be cycling on and off intermittently every few months. Neither issue has caused a crash or fire, but the airbag light indicates a potential safety system malfunction that needs professional diagnosis.

Steering,wheels →1 issue
Your car pulls to one side when accelerating, and the problem has gotten worse over a couple of months—it now sways aggressively at highway speeds, even after an alignment. The dealer says the tie rods and control arms need replacement. This is a safety concern because the sway could cause you to drift into another lane.
