TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SEVERE RUSTING ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE STRUT HOUSING AND FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD SPRAY A SUBSTANCE ON THE PORTION OF THE FRAME THAT WAS RUSTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HOW CAN A MAJOR CAR COMPANY BUILD A VEHICLE THAT HAS SO MANY RUST PROBLEMS. MY 1998 PATHFINDER HAS SO MANY RUST PROBLEMS. THE COMPANY HAS HAD RECALL ON THE FRONT STRUT HOUSING, FILLER GAS TUBE. WHY CAN'T THE COMPANY STAND UP AND TAKE CARE OF ALL THE RUST PROBLEMS. EVER 1998 PATHFINDER HAS RUST ISSUES FENDERS REAR QUARTER PANELS . IF YOU PAID $1000,00 FOR FACTORY RUNNING BOARDS THEY ALL HAVE RUSTED OFF. WHY IS IT THAT THE OWNERS HAVE TO ACCEPT THE PROBLEM WITH ALL THESE RUST ISSUES? THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST NISSAN I WILL EVER OWN. OH DID I ALSO TELL YOU THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED, REAR END MAKES NOISE,THE DISTRIBUTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED FILLER TUBE, NOW THE STRUT TOWER IS RUSTING. IS THIS EVEN A SAFE VEHICLE TO OPERATE ON THE ROAD? *KB
THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE UPON INSPECTION I REALIZED THE FRONT LEFT STRUT TOWER SEPARATED FROM THE CHASSIE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTION FROM A REGISTERED REPAIR SHOP THEY RENDERED THE VEHICLE UNREPAIRABLE DUE TO SAFETY LIABILITY. *TR
THIS IS FOR MY NISSAN PATHFINDER 1998 MODEL VEHICLE. FROM ABOUT 2008 I AM NOTICING CORROSION FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND WHERE TO LOG A COMPLAINT,NOW I KNOW. 1). THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR RUSTING COMPLETELY I THINK. 2. THERE IS BIG NOISE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR FEELING LIKE SOMETHING COULD BE RUSTED AND BROKEN. 3. THE 2 SIDE RUNNING BOARDS ARE CORRODED AND BROKEN AND SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE NOW. *TR
FRONT LEFT WHEEL WELL AT STRUT MOUNT HAS RUSTED THROUGH AT 155000 MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE CAR. HAVE FOUND OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. PROBLEM COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF FAILURE OCCURS WHILE TOWING. DEALER SAYS CAR CAN BE REPAIRED FOR $3000. CONTACTED NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WILL PAY FOR ALL/PART OF REPAIR. *TR
1998 NISSAN PATHFINDER LE (84,000 MILES) FACTORY OEM RUNNING BOARDS RUSTING FROM MOUNTING BRACKETS TO THE POINT OF SEPARATION FROM THE VEHICLE. THESE 20+ POUND PIECES OF METAL FALLING ONTO A ROADWAY AND BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE COULD PRESENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RISK. HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN MOTORS VIA LETTER (WITH PICTURES) AND VISITED A LOCAL DEALER. PHONE CALL FROM NISSAN MOTORS DENIED ANY AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR POOR DESIGN AND INFERIOR METAL ON THIS PART. THERE MUST BE MANY VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WITH THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT. *TR
BODY RUST IN REAR AND UNDERCARRIAGE. *TR
I DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT FRONT STRUT TOWER HAS BEGUN TO TEAR AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE BODY AT ITS BASE. THERE IS VISIBLE CORROSION AT THE BASE. I RECENTLY NOTICED UNUSUAL SWAYING AFTER HITTING BUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE TOP OF THE STRUT TOWER IS OBVIOUSLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT WITH THE OPPOSITE TOWER. THE BRAKE LINE TO THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL IS NOW UNDER STRESS. THERE HAVE BEEN NO KNOWN COLLISIONS WITH THE VEHICLE. NO KNOWN INCIDENT TO CAUSE DAMAGE. NO HEAVY OFF-ROAD. VEH. HAS BEEN USED TO TOW. *TR
I HAVE EXTENSIVE RUST ON MY CAR. I DO BELIEVE THAT IT IS MORE THAN IT SHOULD BE. THE FENDERS IN FRONT AND BACK ARE RUSTED, FRONT AND BACK BUMPER ARE RUSTED, DRIVER DOOR BY MIRROR HAS A HOLE FROM RUST. I WAS WONDERING IF THIS IS NORMAL FOR A 1998 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE? *YT
REAR AND FRONT BUMPERS RUSTING AWAY TO THE POINT WHERE THEY OFFER NO PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN A MINOR COLLISION ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE, AND EACH TIME BUMPER HAS COLLAPSED TO THE LEFT SIDE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
