ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, and Sentra, model year 2013 NV200 (aka Taxi) and Infiniti JX35 and model year 2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall began on April 14, 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Your shifter is stuck in Park and won't move when you press the brake pedal normally. You have to manually press the shift release override button to get the car into gear. This is a safety concern since you can't shift out of Park reliably at traffic lights or in emergencies.

Your tire pressure warning light is illuminated on your dashboard, but when you check the actual air pressure in your tires, they're all at the correct levels. This typically means the tire pressure monitoring sensor itself may be faulty or needs recalibration. Sometimes when I'm driving the car starts idling as if I'm going fast that's how it sounds and I'm making a turn and it's sounds like it's accelerated but it won't go as much as I step on the gas it will not go so I got to pull over to the side wait for a little bit turn off the car and let it sit and then I'll go back tomorrow and it's every time this light turns on the dashboard with a car with the swively lines
OCS System for Passenger Airbag is not working properly. Went to two dealerships and they said it was not covered under the recall 16V-244. I spoke with Nissan Consumer Affairs and they said that the recall was addressed in the past but was not able to provide when and where. The dealerships I go to for servicing do not have any history of the OCS ever being repaired which means that it was probably repaired sometime with the original owner. Assuming it was actually replaced in the past, with replacement, the part is still failing and not having reached the 15 year mark for the car or the actual recall itself is alarming.
Headlights
The headlights on low beam do not put out enough light to see what is in front of the car and I still have them. It is unsafe to drive a care with inadequate low beam lighting. Yes, dealer confirmed it but said 4/25/2022 was the last date to report the problem to have it replaced as part of the settlement. The dealerships are well aware of this problem. No warning, the lights just gradually got dimmer over time.
The airbag light came on the dash and stays on without the vehicle being involved in a crash. I took it to a shop to have it repaired and they stated it was a faulty airbag sensor.
Unknown, but the issue is beneath the passenger seat where it seems a wire has shorted out and even became disconnected and i am unsure but pretty positive that it has something to do with the passenger side airbags because shortly after a diagnostic scan shows several airbag fault codes. Also since then my car’s performance has changed and now i am receiving diagnostic trouble codes for different electrical components such as mas air flow sensor low voltage and its causing my car to stall at random times while driving and even on freeways. It also has caused my car to slow down while fully accelerating on the pedal. Very big safety concern as im driving on the freeway with my family in the car as well.
My 2013 Nissan Altima has serious electrical problems and continues to drain my battery, leaving me seeking alternative transportation to and from home, work, etc. The headlight low and high beams are dangerously dim! I have replaced the bulbs several times and the problems continues to get worse. I have seen litigation online with numerous people involved. I thought NTSB would have acted by now? I have also had numerous problems with the AC not working? I am getting estimates currently looking at a $2,000 problem. When a passenger sits in the front seat the airbag light on the dashboard indicates the airbag isn't armed. I have had a Nissan dealer "fix" it three times and it starts again in a few weeks. First time dealer said a connection came loose when the seat was adjusted. Same thing the second time and the third time they said they secured the connection. the light came on in a matter of weeks again . I will take the car back for a fourth time soon. I asked the dealer service rep if there were any service bulletins regarding this problem, he said there weren't any, I feel that I can't have the only car with this problem. Whenever there is a passenger in the front seat I worry about being involved in an accident and their airbag not deploying.
UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN ENGAGING FOOT BRAKE WHEN STARTING VEHICLE. SHIFT IS STUCK IN PARK. HAVE TO USE TOOL IN SHIFT LOCK RELEASE TO MOVE BETWEEN GEARS TO DRIVE CAR. I WAS DRIVING AND WAS STOPPED AT A RAILWAY CROSSING. PUT CAR IN PARK. ONCE TRAIN HAD PASSED I TRIED TO PUT CAR IN DRIVE POSITION AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. AFTER READING MANUAL I DISCOVERED THAT IF A FAULT OCCURS YOU MUST USE A TOOL ON THE SHIFT LOCK BUTTON RELEASE TO MOVE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS.
REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES DUE TO DETERIORATION OF REFLECTORS. COMMON FAILURE ON THIS MODEL. NO NISSAN RECALL. SAFETY ISSUE WITH FAULTY LIGHTS. SINCE REPLACING BOTH ASSEMBLIES, HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A BULB TWICE. GOING TO THE DEALER AGAIN BECAUSE OF LIGHT FAILURE.
TRANSMISSION ON NISSAN ARE EASILY DAMAGED MY CAR START BUT DONT DRIVE I JUST PAID MY CAR OFF IN STARTING TO HAVE PROBLEMS

MY AIR CONDITION/HEAT TEMPERATURE DISPLAY DOES NOT LIGHT UP. ALL THE FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND THEY ARE ALL GOOD. THE CONNECTION TO THE BATTERY HAD BEEN CHECKED AND THEY ARE GOOD.

COST ESTIMATE TO REPAIR FROM $800 TO $5,000 DEPENDING THE LEVEL OF DEFECT. OWNER BELIEVES THIS SHOULD BE NISSAN'S RESPONSIBILITY, AS IT'S NOT DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. *TR
THE VEHICLE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE FROM THE PARK (P) POSITION WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN SHIFT LOCK ISSUE BASED ON SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AS WELL AS NISSAN OWNER TESTIMONIES. THE FAULT AS IT WAS EXPLAINED BY A NISSAN TECHNICIAN WAS THE SHIFTER SHORTS-OUT THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID WHICH ENGAGES THE UNLOCK FOR THE SHIFTER WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. COST TO REPAIR THE ISSUE IS ROUGHLY $800 BY REPLACING THE SHIFT HANDLE ASSEMBLY AND THIS "REPAIR" IS DUE TO A FAILURE OF A LOW COST SOLENOID SWITCH. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE ACCOUNTABLE OF FAULTY DESIGN. ACCORDING TO NISSAN, THIS IS NOT A SAFETY OR DESIGN ISSUE, BUT WEAR AND TEAR OF THE VEHICLE. HOPEFULLY NHTSA WILL REVIEW THE FACTS OF THESE COMMON OCCURRENCES AND DETERMINE IF IT IS INDEED WORTHY OF RECALL REPAIR.
UPON STARTING THE CAR, THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. THE SHIFT LOCK SEEMS TO BE STUCK. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF POSTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL AND MAKE.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND IT STARTED STUTTERING AND IT CUT RIGHT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING .I THEN RESTARTED MY CAR AND IT DID THE SAME THING. IT IS RELATED WITH THE HEADLIGHT PROJECTOR HOUSING (CONFIRMED FROM DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS AND INTERNET COMPLAINTS) THAT IS LOSING ITS EFFECTIVENESS BY THE TIME. ALSO, REPAIRING THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COSTLY. BASICALLY, BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAVE TO BE CHANGED. WE, AS ALTIMA OWNERS, ARE WAITING FOR THE RECALL ACTION SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PROBLEM FROM THE NISSAN COMPANY. UNFORTUNATELY, IT IS VERY COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM AMONG 2013 -2015 ALTIMAS.

MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED AT 71 000 ALONG WITH MY AUTOMATIC BRAKE LOCK ON THE GEAR SHIFTER.
AFTER A FEW YEARS OF NORMAL OPERATION THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. THEY ARE TOO DIM TO RELY ON WHILE DRIVING ON DARK ROADS/HIGHWAYS. MUST USE HIGH-BEAMS FOR PROPER VISIBILITY. REPLACING BULBS DOES NOT HELP.

NO BRAKE LIGHTS NO PARK LIGHTS NO LIGHTS. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TIRE KINGDOM TO CHANGE BULBS ONLY TO FIND OUT THE NEW BULBS ARE NOT WORKING EITHER AND THE VEHICLE HAS A N ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. NEVER DID UNDERSTAND WHY DRIVERS BEHIND ME WOULD HONK THEIR HORNS AT ME OR BE FLASHING ME WITH THEIR HIGH BEAM LIGHTS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THEIR AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE ONLY GETS COOL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. YOU CANNOT HAVE THE A/C ON WHEN BEING STATIONARY THE A/C ONLY PRODUCES HEAT DURING THAT TIME.
TAKATA RECALL. ONE RECALL PERFORMED, SECOND AIRBAG LIGHT SHOWS ON DASH SOON AFTER FIRST AIRBAG REPLACED. DIAGNOSTICS ON NOVEMBER 30 SHOWS ALL ELECTRONICS PROBLEMS WITH DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. COST ESTIMATED MINIMUM FROM $651+ TAX TO $3427.92+ TAX. THIS FAILURE IS NOT DUE TO MISUSE. IT IS A RECALL PROBLEM. SEE ATTACHED DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR ESTIMATE ATTACHED. REQUEST THIS BE REPLACED UNDER RECALL.
I WAS TURNING RIGHT TO PARK MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA AND I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR TO STOP AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND JUMPED OVER THE CONCRETE CURB STOP. IT CONTINUED TO RUN UPSLOPE TO THE BUSHES AND OVER THREE BIG ROCKS WHILE I WAS TRYING TO AVOID HITTING THE FENCE IN THE FRONT AND BRAKING IT. I CONTINUED TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO DRIVE FORWARD AND I KEPT TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID A FENCE. THE CAR RAN OVER THE CURB STOP OF ANOTHER PARKING SPACE ABOUT FIVE SPACES ON THE RIGHT. THE BOLT IN THE CONCRETE STOP PUNCTURED MY OIL PAN AND THE ROCKS RIBBED OFF THE PLASTIC SHIELDS UNDERNEATH. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY PUMPING THE BRAKE AND WIND UP IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I CHECKED MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE. MY CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 43000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS HAPPENED AT THE PARKING LOT OF BERTELSON MEMORIAL PARK IN EL DORADO HILLS IN CALIFORNIA. WE BELIEVED THAT THERE WAS A COMPUTER FAILURE THAT CAUSED THE ACCELERATION OF THE CAR WHILE I WAS TURNING RIGHT AND BRAKING AND TRIED TO PARK. ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE EXPERT, AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER WHO HAS STUDIED SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN CARS FOR OVER 20 YEARS, STATED THAT "IF YOU'RE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, YOU HAVE A LOT OF STRESS ON THE FRONT DRIVE SYSTEM, SINCE EVERYTHING IS BASED ON RUNNING THROUGH THE COMPUTER, INCLUDING SENSORS ON YOUR DRIVE SYSTEMS, ANY ONE OF THOSE COULD CARRY ONTO THE SYSTEM, CARRY ON TO THE ON-BOARD COMPUTER AND ATTACK IT." WE FELT VERY UNFAIR TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 60 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED TO START PROPERLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE BATTERY HAD TO BE JUMPSTARTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED BENTON NISSAN OF HOOVER AT (205) 938-6103 (LOCATED AT 1640 MONTGOMERY HWY, HOOVER, AL 35216) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5SV , THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK , THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY OFFERED A 60/40 SPLIT BUT THIS CLEARLY BEING A SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD BE ISSUED AS A RECALL OR TAKEN CARE OF 100% BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS NOT SAFE IF YOU CAN'T GET YOU CARE OUT OF PARK, NISSAN KNOWS OF THE ISSUE BUT CONTINUES TO IGNORING THE PROBLEM.

ELECTRICAL ISSUE, MY CAR WOULDN'T START SAYING INCORRECT KEY, WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THE BATTERY POST HAD COMPLETELY BURNED OFF, WIRES WAS BURNT, AND BATTERY EXPLODED. THE FUSIBLE LINK FOR THE TERMINAL BREAKER FOR THE BATTERY WAS ALSO BURNT, EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO START MY CAR IT WOULD SAY KEY NOT DETECTABLE OR WRONG KEY ID. I THOUGHT THE BATTERY IN THE KEY PROBE WAS GOING OUT REPLACED IT AND THE PROBLEM STILL WAS PRESENT. I HAVE 2 CO-WORKERS AND THERE VEHICLE ARE DOING THE SAME THING ONE HAS A 2014 AND THE OTHER IS A 2016 BRAND NEW HAD LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DID THEIR DIAGNOSIS. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS, THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WHICH THEY SAID HAD INTERNAL PROBLEMS AND ALSO REPROGRAM THE SYSTEM OF THE COMPUTER OF THE CAR AT 29,326 MILES WHICH IS ODD TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS A NEWER CAR. SO NOW ITS 2016 AND I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN TO THE DEALER TODAY BECAUSE IT SEEMED AS THE WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN SLOW, THE CAR WOULDNT ACCELERATE RIGHT AWAY WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS (STALLING) AND IT WOULD SHAKE WHILE DRIVING OR AT A STOP, AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP IT WOULD JERK AS IF SOMEONE HIT MY REAR END. THEY DID THE DIAGNOSIS AND SAID THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION. SO I NOW BELIEVE THERE IS INTERNAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR WHICH IS PROBABLY GOING TO LEAD TO THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION TO GO ON ME. AND IT IS A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM BECAUSE I SHOULDNT OF HAD ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THESE FOR A 2013 NOW AT 46,000 MILES

AIRBAG SENSOR DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, THE LIGHT TURNS ON WARNING THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN A PERSON IS BUCKLED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. DROVE TO DEALER WITHOUT SPEEDOMETER ETC FOR AN APPOINTMENT AT NISSAN DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. NISSAN NOT EVEN WILLING TO ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, THE BRAKES STAY ON CAUSING THE CAR TO EITHER NOT MOVE, OR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE GEAR SHIFTER CAN BE MOVED OUT OF PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. ALSO, THE CAR CAN BE STARTED WITHOUT HAVING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. SOMETIMES, THE OUTSIDE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND MANUALLY OPERATING THE SWITCH WOULD NOT MAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL RELEASE AND VEHICLE ACCELERATES RAPIDLY, TO THE POINT OF LOSING CONTROL. SOMETIMES, A QUICK PUMP OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL RELEASE WHATEVER IS GOING ON-SOMETIMES NOTHING WILL CAUSE IT TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. REMOVING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WILL TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, BUT WILL NOT RESET THE PROBLEM. DEALER HAS NO SUGGESTIONS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, EXCEPT TO LET THEM KEEP THE CAR AND TO START REPLACING PARTS UNTIL THEY MAKE THE PROBLEM GO AWAY. NISSAN AMERICA SAYS NISSAN HAS ALREADY SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY TRYING TO RESOLVE PREVIOUS ISSUES ON THIS CAR AND WOULD NOT SPEND ANOTHER PENNY!!! PRIVATE MECHANIC THAT IS TRYING TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEM IS HAVING NO LUCK DETERMINING THE CAUSE. THERE ARE NISSAN TSB'S ABOUT SHORTED WIRING, BUT ONLY NISSAN TECHS CAN ACCES THOSE. CAR HAS BEEN IN SHOP 44 TIMES FOR 62 DAYS FOR VARIOUS MAJOR PROBLEMS THAT NISSAN CAN'T OR WON'T FIX COMPLETELY. BRAND NEW VEHICLE JUST SHY OF 1 YEAR BOUGHT AND CHECK ENGINE GOES ON TWICE FOR REPROGRAM OF OXYGEN SENSOR, ONCE IN TOWN BEFORE THANKSGIVING WEEK IN NOVEMBER 2014 AND A SECOND TIME WHILE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS. FRUSTRATING THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED AND IT WASN'T DONE THE FIRST TIME. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY JUST CLEARED THE SYSTEM AND THE LIGHT AND IT CAME BACK ON WHILE OUT OF TOWN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
THIS IS A COMBINATION OF PROBLEMS. APPROXIMATELY AROUND NOV. 7, 2015 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE AT THE DEALER (ALMOST ONE YEAR AFTER THE LAST TIME). I HAVE NOT OWNED MY VEHICLE 2 YEARS YET. I THOUGHT THEY HAD TAKEN CARE OF IT WHEN THEY TOLD ME THE LIGHT SHOULDN'T COME BACK ON. THEY SAID THE CODE WAS FOR REPROGRAMMING THE MASS AIR SYSTEM. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME LIGHT CAME ON BUT THIS TIME I LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN WHILE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD A COUPLE OF CLOSE CALLS ON BEING REAR-ENDED WHILE HAVING MY SON IN THE CAR. I HAD TO GET OFF IMMEDIATELY AND DRIVE DOWN TO THE DEALER WHICH TOOK ME IT SEEMED FOREVER BECAUSE IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. I HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS CLOSING. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT IT REQUIRED REPROGRAMMING OF THE MASS AIR SYSTEM. I HAD THEM DO IT BUT IT TOOK THEM 1 DAY TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ME. ABOUT 2 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THIS TIME FINDING THE PROBLEM WASN'T AS EASY. THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE LETTING ME KNOW THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE THROTTLE CHAMBER REPLACED. REALLY NOW...CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON A TOTAL OF 2 TIMES IN 1 YEAR + 2 MORE TIME IN ANOTHER YEAR, 1 ALTERNATOR REPLACED IN 1 YEAR , 1 THROTTLE CHAMBER REPLACED IN ALMOST 2 YEARS, LEAKING REAR SHOCKS IN 1 YEAR AND NISSAN DOES NOTHING TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE WHICH IS A CONSTANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO PULL OVER, POWER CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTART CAR. ON RESTART THE CAR RECOGNIZED THE OCCUPANT AND ENABLED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE DATE OF INCIDENT IS OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING MAY 2015 WITH APPROXIMATELY 29,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.

AS MANY OTHERS HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED, THIS 2013 ALTIMA WILL NOT DETECT AN ADULT PASSENGER (140+ LBS) AND WILL TURN OFF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE INITIAL SAFETY RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED ON THE CAR (PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE), BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WEDNESDAY NOV. 19TH I CALLED NISSAN USA EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THE CAR NOT BEING TRUST WORTHY. MCGAVOCK WROTE ON SERVICE ORDER THE CAR IS FLOODING THEN THE ACCELERATOR BURNT OUT. THIS CAR IS GOING TO GIVE PROBLEMS FROM NOW ON. I TOLD NISSAN USA I WANTED A NEW CAR WITH NO COST TO ME SINCE THE CAR IS NOW BASICALLY A LEMON. MY SON TALKED TO SERVICE ADVISOR AND SERVICE MGR. ON FRIDAY 14, 2014 APPROXIMATELY8:33 P.M. I WAS DRIVING DOWN N. TYRON ST IN CHARLOTTE, NC IN TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY DUE TO THE KEY NOT BEING DETECTED. THE KEY WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THEN A LADY MISS HITTING ME IN THE REAR BY A INCH; DUE TO MY CAR JUST CUTTING OFF INDICATING MY KEY WAS NOT IN THE CAR. I TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP WHEN I PRESS THE START KEY AND THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME TIME; IT WILL SAY THE KEY IS NOT BEING DETECTED. WHEN I PRESS THE AUTOMATIC START BUTTON ON THE KEY, THE CAR WOULD START UP BUT WHEN I PRESS THE START BUTTON AND THE BRAKE TOGETHER IT CUT OFF AND THE SAY THING COMES UP ON THE DASHBOARD. THEN ONCE IT DID CUT ON WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE THE CUTS OFF AND SAYS THE KEY IS NOT BEING DETECTED. THIS A SAFETY ISSUES AND VERY DANGEROUS, IF THE LADY BEHIND ME WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION IT WOULD OF BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT. I DON'T TRUST MY CAR AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. I HAVE A NEW 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL V6 I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS NEW CAR. BLIND SIDE WARNING, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYED ON ONE TIME. MY CAR WOULDN'T START UP SEVERAL TIMES AFTER WALKING UP TO THE CAR AND PRESSING THE BUTTON ON THE DOOR. THE KEY WOULDN'T UNLOCK THE DOORS, IT WOULDN'T AUTO START THE CAR. I HAD TO WAIT TO GET IN MY CAR, I ACTUALLY HAD TO STICK MY KEY IN THE DOOR TO GET IN THE CAR. I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA AND WITHIN 1 WEEK THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF DURING THE SAME TIME PERIOD THE PHONE WOULD RING IN THE CAR AND WOULD NOT STOP RINGING UNTIL THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CAR HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP OVER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME 2 ISSUES AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED, AS RECENT AS YESTERDAY MAY 31, 2014 THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 NISSAN FROM BILL SEIDLE'S NISSAN IN MIAMI FLORIDA. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR THEY TOLD ME THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 30 MPG WITH AN AVERAGE OF AROUND 26 MPG. MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I MENTIONED TO THE DEALER THAT THE CAR'S COMPUTER WAS SAYING AROUND 20 MPG AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED IT TO TRACK THE MPG MYSELF BECAUSE THE COMPUTER FROM THE CAR IS NOT ACCURATE. I TRACKED THE MILES AND THE RESULTS WERE 20 MPG. I TOOK THAT CAR IN TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT IS THE MILEAGE THAT I WAS GOING TO GET. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC KEY THAT ON MULTIPLE TIMES "NO KEY DETECTED" MESSAGE COMES UP AND IT TAKES ME A WHILE FOR THE CAR TO START. EVENTUALLY IT TURNED OUT THE BATTERY WAS NOT GOOD AND IT WAS CHANGED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS PROBLEMS CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE CARS TURNS ON THE MESSAGE STAYS ON FOR A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ALL THE TIME THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN VEHICLE ON, RADIO AND OTHER SYSTEM WAS ON, BUT COULD NOT PUT CAR IN GEAR, EVENTUALLY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT THE BCM HAS AN INTERNAL SHORT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND HAS UNDER 52,000 MILES, HAS NOT BEEN OWNED FOR EVEN 2 YEARS AND IT BREAKS DOWN WITH NO ONE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY ON THIS ISSUE ON A SEMI NEW VEHICLE. NISSAN CLAIMS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN ID# PC214, DATED APRIL 2, 2013. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STATUS LAMP IS LOCATED ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER STACK. THIS INTERMITTENT CONDITION HAS OCCURRED TWICE THROUGH THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2013. THE WARNING INDICATOR WILL TURN OFF AND OPERATE CORRECTLY AFTER I TURN OFF MY RUNNING ENGINE AND RESTART. *TR
RE: KEYLESS IGNITION SYSTEMS. THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR SO I DON'T KNOW VIN OR MILEAGE, OR EXACT YEAR. I RENTED A CAR LAST WEEK IN SAN DIEGO, MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH KEYLESS IGNITIONS. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ONE DAY AND WAS NOT USED TO THIS SYSTEM. LATE AT NIGHT I PARKED CAR, PUSHED THE IGNITION TO "OFF" STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, WHEN CAR STARTED DRIVING FORWARD BECAUSE I HAD FORGOTTEN TO PUT IT IN PARK. I WAS KNOCKED DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, IT WAS PITCH BLACK OUTSIDE, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING, UNTIL I SAW THE CAR DRIVING AWAY. I MANAGED TO CHASE THE CAR AND JUMP BACK INSIDE BEFORE IT HIT ANYTHING. HOWEVER, MY KNEE WAS TORN UP REALLY BAD, AND I AM STILL DEALING WITH THE INJURY MORE THAN A WEEK LATER. NOT HAVING ANY WARNING/SAFETY MEASURE TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK, COUPLED WITH A WHISPER QUIET ENGINE, IS A TOTALLY DANGEROUS COMBINATION, AND CLEARLY DEADLY FROM MANY ON LINE ACCOUNTS I HAVE READ. DON'T KNOW HOW THIS RIDICULOUS IDEA EVER MADE IT TO FACTORY, MUCH LESS APPROVED WITHOUT ANY WARNING SYSTEM IN PLACE. I HATE THESE CARS AND THINK THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED. VEHICLE JERKS AT STOPS AND TAKES OFF, RPMS CLIMBED ON THEIR OWN, VEHICLE WON'T START AND WAS TOWED IN, VEHICLE STALL IN MOVING TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, AND FAN BLOWER.
DRIVER' SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALERS TO REPLACE THE MIRROR AND MIRROR HOUSING AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. MIRROR CONTINUES TO VIBRATE. ALSO, I GOT SEVERAL LETTERS OF RECALLS ON THIS CAR, SUCH AS THE SENSORS ON THE AIRBAGS AND THE SPARE TIRE BEING OVER-INFLATED. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS TURNED ON TWICE AND DOES NOT TURN OFF, EVEN WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR AT ALL, THIS CAR IS A LEMON. *TR
WELL MY BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM AND LANE DETECTION SYSTEM BOTH DO NOT WORK CORRECTLY. MY BSM WILL LIGHT UP WHEN THERE IS NOT A CAR THERE AS WELL AS NOT LIGHT UP WHEN THERE IS A CAR THERE. THIS HAPPENS VERY OFTEN BUT NOT EVERYTIME. WHEN IT RAINS IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERYTIME. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IF YOU READ THE OWNERS MANUAL IT SAYS THAT THIS MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY. REALLY? I BOUGHT KNOWING THE SALESMAN TOLD ME THIS FEATURE WORKS NOT THAT IT DOES NOT WORK! THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO DIAGNOSE IT. VERY SAD. AND SAME WITH THE LDS WHERE IT WILL BEEP AND BLINK AND I AM NOT EVEN OUT OF MY LAN. AGAIN THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT IS DRY, WET, SUNNY, CLOUDY, SNOWING. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG AND NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH THE CUSTOMERS HAVE SPENT ALOT OF MONEY ON THESE FEATURES! *TR
WELL I NOTICED THAT MY PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WAS ON WITH A PASSENGER SITTING IN THE VEHICLE, IT HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES, AND I EVEN HAVE A VIDEO OF ME SITTING IN IT AND I WEIGHT 180LBS WITH THE LIGHT ON WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE RESET THE SEAT. IT IS STILL DOING IT, THE VIDEO CAME AFTER THE THIRD TIME AND JUST 3 DAYS AGO. I CALLED NISSAN ABOUT THIS AND MY OTHER BIG PROBLEMS AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS THROUGH NISSAN AND YET I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN 3 SEPARATE TIMES AND THEY STILL KEEP TELLING ME ITS OK. NO SIR. NISSAN SEEMS TO JUST NOT CARE I HAVE ASKED THEM MANY TIMES FOR A NISSAN REP TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT MY CAR AND THEY JUST KEEP TELLING ME TO TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THE PROBLEM IS ALL THE NISSAN DEALERS AROUND ME ARE OWNED AND MANAGED BY THE SAME COMPANY. AND NISSAN WILL NOT HELP ME WITH A LOANER CAR IF I DRIVE IT 200 MILES AWAY TO THE NEXT DEALER. SO I AM JUST SCREWED. VERY UPSET WITH HOW NISSAN RUNS THEIR BUSINESS. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST NISSAN EVER! *TR
AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF OWNING THIS NEW CAR, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ONWHILE I WAS DRIVING. I STARTED HEARING SQUEALING AND THUNKING COMING FROM MY BRAKES. THESE ARE NEW AND ON A NEW CAR, THE CAR JUST NOW HAS 6000 MILES ON IT AND IT STILL SHOULD NOT MAKES THESE SOUNDS. I TOOK IT IN THEY DID SOMETHING TO CLEAR THE BRAKE LIGHT AND SAID THE NOISES ARE NORMAL. THIS SHOULD NOT BE MAKING ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT NOISES. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIND THE PROBLEMS OF THEIR CARS AND FIX THEM! I FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING STILL WRONG BUT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT WANT TO LOOK ANY FURTHER. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING - EVERYTHING WENT DARK AND GAUGES DROPPED TO ZERO. THE DEALER TOOK IT RIGHT AWAY AND THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE CAR HAS 940 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME AND I HAD PURCHASED IT NEW 14 DAYS EARLIER. MILES DID NOT ACCUMULATE ON DRIVE TO THE DEALER (I COULD SEE THIS B/C I STOPPED THE CAR WHEN THE PANEL WENT DARK, BUT UPON RESTARTING THE MILEAGE WOULD DISPLAY BRIEFLY THEN DISAPPEAR. I DID THIS AGAIN AFTER I DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES TO THE DEALER - MILES WERE THE SAME). *TR
I WAS DRIVING A BRAND-NEW, NISSAN ALTIMA RENTAL CAR ON A BUSINESS TRIP. AFTER I RETURNED TO MY HOTEL ONE AFTERNOON, I FORGOT TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THIS VEHICLE HAS A KEY FOB AND A "START/STOP" BUTTON ONLY. THERE IS NO METAL KEY. AFTER I EXITED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE HORN DID NOT HONK WHEN I LOCKED THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB. THE TRUNK RELEASE DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY OPEN WHEN I USED THE KEY FOB. I MANUALLY PRESSED A BUTTON UNDER THE TRUNK LID TO RETRIEVE MY BAG. THE NEXT MORNING, I NOTICED STEAM AND WATER COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST TAILPIPES. (IT WAS APP. 34 DEGREES THAT MORNING.) I DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, AND THE CAR USED APP. 3/8S OF A TANK OF GASOLINE OVERNIGHT. MY CONCERN IS THAT A CAR LIKE THIS COULD BE DRIVEN INTO A GARAGE WITH THE ENGINE LEFT ON, AND THEN THE OCCUPANTS OF THE RESIDENCE COULD GET CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM THE EXHAUST FUMES. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS SOME TIME OF WARNING BELL, CHIME, ETC. TO REMIND THE DRIVER THAT THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING IF THEY OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND/OR EXIT THE VEHICLE. THANK-YOU. *TR
THE BSW AND LDW MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING ON BOARD FLASHED MALFUNTION AND SLIPP LIGHT WENT ON LESS THEN A WEEK HAVING THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RAIN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGAN TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. BROUGHT VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. INFORMED BY SERVICE PERSON THAT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, HOWEVER AN UPDATE IS BEING MADE FOR ALL VEHICLES AND I WILL RECEIVE A NOTICE IN THE MAIL TO BRING IN. AS OF TODAY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CONTINUE TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY RENDERING THE VEHICLE USELESS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. *TR
THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT PASSENGER AIRBAG DETECTION ISSUE WITH 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 SV. THERE WERE IN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN A FULL GROWN PERSON(WEIGHT > 150LBS) SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHILE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN, 'PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF' INDICATOR WOULD TURN ON, INDICATING THAT CAR IS NOT DETECTING ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND IN RESULT AIRBAGS WERE TURNED OFF. THIS WARNING INDICATION STAYED ON THROUGHOUT OUR DRIVE AND SOMETIMES TURNED OFF AFTER 10-15 MINUTES OF DRIVE AND IN OTHER OCCASIONS IT DIDN'T TURN OFF AT ALL UNTIL CAR WAS TURNED OFF. IF THIS WAS JUST A FEATURE ISSUE THEN MUCH LOWER PRIORITY SHOULD BEEN ASSIGNED BUT IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE/CONCERN AND I REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION. A BLATANT DISREGARD FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS ISSUE MAY RESULT IN DEATH, INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. I REQUEST THE HELP OF NHTSA FOR QUICK AND THOROUGH INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER.
