AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BELT BECAUSE THE BELT FROM COMING OFF YOU CHANGE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THEN IT WOULD RUN FOR A LITTLE BIT THEN IT STARTED TO STOP AND NOT BE ABLE TO GET ENOUGH FUEL TO THE GAS PEDAL AND I'D HAVE TO REV IT UP. WE OPENED IT UP WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS WERE ON THE VALVE COVERS AND IT WAS HALFWAY FULL OF OIL WE GOT ALL THE OIL OUT WHEN WE ORDERED A NEW VALVE COVER AND SPARK PLUGS THE CAR RUN FINE FOR ONE DAY NOW IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. THE FAN TURNS ON LIKE IT IS RUNNING BUT THERE IS NO POWER TO THE CAR AT ALL. I READ THAT AFTER THE OIL GETS INTO THE VALVE COVERS THERE'S REALLY NO FIXING IT AFTER THAT. AND EVERY TIME THAT WE FIX IT ONLY LAST FOR ONE DAY AND SO IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER TO BE DRIVING AROUND IN THAT UNRELIABLE CAR WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THE RECALL.
I REMEMBER GETTING INTO HIGHWAY ACCELERATING, IT DID NOT WANT TO GO TO THE NEXT GEAR SUDDENLY IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS OFF. I FREAK OUT LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT THE WALL OF THE BRIDGE. I WAS HANGING FROM THE BRIDGE. I CALLED NISSAN AFFAIRS AND THEY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. MY VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS... THE CASE WITH NISSAN AFFAIRS CASE#38420940. BERENIZ AND DAKOTA WERE THE INVESTIGATORS ON THE CASE.
I'VE CALLED TO SEE IF THERE'S A RECALL ON THE CAR FUEL SYSTEM TO BE EXACT FUEL GAUGE IS READING FULL IS BROKEN.READS FULL WHEN THERE'S ONLY 5 TO 6 GALLONS OF GAS.THEY WON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT FREE OF CHARGE TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS.THIS HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING OR SITTING.

I WAS ON A BACK COUNTRY ROAD AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED
OVER TWO MONTHS AGO MY GRANDSON OPENED THE OUTSIDE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF MY NISSAN ALTIMA AND THE HANDLE CAME OFF IN HIS HAND. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY SON CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND SAID THERE WHERE NO RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH HE FOUND THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS. HE ALSO FOUND THE PRICES FOR FIXING WITH A DEALER OR OTHER MECHANIC. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE HANDLE BEING FIXED, IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT AND PASSED OUT NO ONE COULD OPEN THE DOOR IN A TIMELY MANNER TO REMOVE ME OR OTHERS (IF IT WAS A PASSENGER DOOR) FROM THE VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND FILED A CASE A DAY OR SO LATER. I RECEIVED A CALL WITHIN A DAY OR TWO AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND MY CONCERNS BUT I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS TOO MANY MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOO MANY MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED PROBLEM AND THE SAFETY CONCERNS BUT NOTHING MADE A DIFFERENCE. I TOLD THE FIRST AGENT WHO INITIALLY TOOK MY CASE, WHEN ASKED WHAT NISSAN COULD DO FOR ME, I SAID GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF OUTSIDE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SURVEY FROM NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND AGAIN EXPRESSED MY CONCERN REGARDING SAFETY AND ALSO THE CONCERNS I RECENTLY HAD REGARDING THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH SINCE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THIS PARTICULAR DEALER. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY MORE FROM NISSAN HEADQUARTERS IN MORE THAN A MONTH. MY SON DID GLUE THE HANDLE BACK FOR ME, BUT JUST RECENTLY IT CAME OFF AGAIN. I MAY NEED TO HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED. IN ORDER TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE, I MUST UNLOCK IT WITH THE REMOTE (I THINK THAT IS WHAT IT IS CALLED) AND LET THE WINDOW DOWN AND REACH IN TO OPEN THE DOOR. AFTER HOLDING THE DOOR HANDLE IN MY HAND, I BELIEVE IT IS JUST MADE OF PLASTIC.

TECHNICIAN AT SHRED-IT/STERICYCLE LOCATED AT 81 WALSH ROAD IN PARSIPPANY NJ, KEEPS ILLEGALLY REMOTELY HACKING MY CAR. THE LIGHT COMES ON SAYING "TCS OFF" AND ANOTHER LIGHT COMES ON WITH IT STATING "SLIP." WHEN HE DOES THIS AND THESE LIGHTS COMES ON, THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE SAFELY AT ALL. THE CAR DOESN'T GO INTO GEAR EASILY AND IT SEEMS TO BE VERY ROUGH TO SWITCH GEARS. ALSO THE STEERING IS COMPLETELY OFF WHEN HE DOES THIS AS WELL AS THE DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE TOO. THIS LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE I AM DRIVING. I AM VERY TERRIFIED. HE HAS BEEN STALKING ME ONLINE FOR MONTHS SINCE I FOUND OUT THE I.T. DEPT PUT WEBCAMS IN THE COMPUTER STANDS AT MY JOB, AND SINCE HE HAS BEEN ELECTRONICALLY STALKING ME-WITH THIS ILLEGAL SICK REMOTE CAR HACKING BEING A PART OF HIS MALICIOUS BEHAVIOR TOWARDS ME IN HIS EFFORTS TO CLEARLY HARM ME. THE FLOORBOARDS ON MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. YOU CAN SEE THE CARPET FROM THE UNDERBED ON BOTH SIDES (DRIVER AND PASSANGER). I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS MAY BE A FLAW IN THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF MY CAR AND IT'S PRETTY COSTLY TO GET THIS REPAIRED & TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST, I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT REPAIRED. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ALTIMAS.
SUNROOF BLEW AWAY WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. ALREADY SUBJECT TO VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL: HOLLAND 700 AND HOLLANDIA 900. WE DID NOT HAVE THE INFO. WEBASTO IS UNHELPFUL IN GETTING CAR REPAIRED.
THE FLOOR BOARDS UNDER THE PASSENGER'S FEET ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. I WAS DOING MY RESERACH AND FROM ALL THE REPORTS, IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE NISSAN OR NHTSA IS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. YOU CAN SEE THE ROAD THRU THE HUGE HOLES.
DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR BOARD HAS RUSTED THROUGH FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THERE IS A DRAINAGE ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL. VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. WHEN DEALER IS NOTIFIED, DEALER REFUSES THAT THERE WAS A PAST RECALL ON THIS PART FOR THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH A 2.5 ENGINE. DEALER WILL NOT HELP. THIS VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF WHILE IN MOTION AS WELL AS STATIONARY . THIS VEHICLE ALSO WOULD NOT START UP. LOCAL MECHANIC IS QUOTED SAYING " VEHICLE'S ENGINE PARTS ARE THE EXACT ENGINE PARTS FROM WHEN THE CAR WAS MADE. THE PARTS WERE NEVER REPLACED.".
MY CAR HAS BEEN REJECTED 2 YEARS IN A ROW DURING MY ROUTINE INSPECTION, DUE TO RUSTED/ROTTED OUT FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT MY NISSAN TO KELLY NISSAN OF LYNNFIELD IN JULY 2014, AFTER MY LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC FAILED IT [JULY 2014] DUE TO RUSTED/ROTTED OUT FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP PASSED MY CAR IN INSPECTION AND TOLD US THAT THERE WAS NO CAUSE FOR CONCERN ABOUT THE FLOORBOARD. TODAY, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION [PAST DUE] TO MY LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC, AND THEY FAILED IT DUE TO RUSTED/ROTTED OUT FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY APPROXIMATED THE HOLE IS 4 INCHES BY 6 INCHES. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND CREATED A CASE FILE. I AM SUPPOSED TO BE CONTACTED BY A LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE BY COB TOMORROW. THE MANAGER OF KELLY NISSAN OF LYNNFIELD CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT HE CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME UNTIL A DETERMINATION IS MADE BY THE LOCAL REP, AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL GO THROUGH, AS IT APPEARS THAT I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO THEIR DEALERSHIP ENOUGH TO WARRANT THEM TO DO THE REPAIR. SO THAT WAS THE GOOD NEWS; THAT I HAVE ENOUGH HISTORY WITH THEIR DEALERSHIP THAT I COULD POTENTIALLY GET IT REPAIRED.
THE ENTIRE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED OUT. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR 10 YEARS EVERY 3,500 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER MENTIONED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS RUSTING OUT. I ONLY LEARNED OF THE ISSUE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION.
THE FLOOR BOARDS UNDER THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS HAVE RUSTED SO BADLY I CAN PUT MY FOOT THROUGH THE HOLE
A MECHANIC, DURING AN UNRELATED REPAIR, REPORTED HE COULD SEE CARPET FROM THE UNDERNEATH MY CAR AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION DISCOVERED TWO HOLES IN THE FLOORBOARDS ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDES (FRONT SEAT). I TOOK THIS IN FOR AN ESTIMATE AND IT WILL COST $700-1000 TO REPAIR. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN...THESE FLOORBOARDS SHOULD NOT RUST COMPLETELY THROUGH LIKE THIS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND AM WORRIED THAT ROAD DEBRIS OR SOMETHING RIPPING THROUGH THE CARPET FROM THE INSIDE COULD CAUSE INJURY OR WORSE AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
I RECENTLY HAD MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IN THE SHOP FOR AND OIL CHANGE & FRONT BRAKE REPLACEMENT. THE TECH REPORTED A RUST ISSUE ON THE DRIVERS & PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANS. HE GOT A NEARBY BODY SHOP TO GIVE A REPAIR QUOTE, WHICH IS ~$700. I TOOK A LOOK UNDER THE CAR MYSELF & WAS SHOCKED TO FIND FLOOR RUST ~18" X 9" ON PASSENGER & DRIVER FLOOR BOARDS. THE RUST HOLES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. THERE ARE NO OTHER RUST SPOTS ON THE CAR, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT. A LOOK ON LINE SHOWED WHAT I SUSPECTED; AN EPIDEMIC OF RUST IN THE SAME LOCATION ON EVERY ALTIMA! MY CAR SPENT ITS FIRST 8 YEARS IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN. THE LAST 2 HAVE BEEN IN FLORIDA. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE-KEPT ITS ENTIRE LIFE. THE ISOLATION OF THE RUST IS VERY OBVIOUS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN PROBABLY THE MOST RELIABLE CAR I'VE EVER OWNED, WHICH MAKES THIS RUST ISSUE SO DISAPPOINTING. FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE GATHERED, NISSAN HAS NO INTENTION OF STANDING BEHIND THIS ISSUE. I HAD PLANS TO TRADE THIS CAR IN ON A NISSAN QUEST IN 2016. I WILL BE CROSSING NISSAN OFF THE LIST.
FRONT FLOORBOARDS RUSTING THOUGH, LOOKING AT OTHER COMPLAINTS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR.
2005 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 59,270 MILES AS OF 06.07.15, HAS A RUSTED FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CONSISTENT WITH THE HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS TO YOU, TO NISSAN, AND AS OUTLINED ON THE TODAY SHOW. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, ONLY OWNER, GARAGED SINCE PURCHASE AND SHORTLY DUE TO NISSAN'S DESIGN AND ENGINEERING DEFECTS TWO THINGS WILL HAPPEN: 1. THE FLOOR BOARD WILL BE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND ALLOW EXHAUST FUMES AND WATER INTO THE CAR. 2. THE VALUE OF MY CAR WHICH I HAVE SPENT CONSIDERABLE TIME AND EFFORT MAINTAINING WILL DIMINISH SIGNIFICANTLY DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN. IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL THAT NISSAN HAS NOT HAD A RECALL FOR QUALIFIED CARS, AND I 100% GUARANTEE YOU THAT MY CAR WOULD QUALIFY. SO NOW EVERY TIME IT RAINS OR I WASH THE CAR, DUE TO NISSAN'S DESIGN AND ENGINEERING DEFECTS, I'M ONE STEP CLOSER TO HAVING A BUILT-IN EXHAUST FUME AIR CONDITIONER. SO BESIDES THE FACT THAT MY FLOOR BOARD ON MY DRIVERS SIDE HAS A HUGE HOLE IN IT, THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS CAUSE ME ENOUGH PROBLEMS TO WHERE I BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH, WHEN ACCELERATING IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS ABOUT TO SHUT OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CHANGE THE SENSOR. I'VE HAD MINE CHANGED FOUR TIMES. I AM ACTUALLY SICK OF THIS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. TO MAKE IT WORSE I CAN'T TAKE THE CAR OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE IT WILL GET HOT THEN THE CLUTCH STICKS TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE TO LIFT IT WITH MY FOOT AND IT STILL WON'T ENGAGE, IT LOSES ALL PRESSURE. I AM DRIVING A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R WITH APPROXIMATELY 140,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND COMING TO A STOP FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, PROBABLY AT 5 TO 10 MPH. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF FOR NO REASON. I WENT TO AUTOZONE AND GOT THE ENGINE CODE AND IT IS FOR CAN SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I BROWSED INTERNET AND THIS SEEMS A COMMON PROBLEM
I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY PERSONAL MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND A YEARLY INSPECTION. WHILE DOING THE INSPECTION THE MECHANIC TOOK NOTICE OF THE SEVERE RUSTING OF THE FRONT DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR BOARDS. HE SAID THAT IT PASSED INSPECTION AND THAT SOMETHING WILL HAVE TO BE DONE ABOUT THE RUST DAMAGE SOON BEFORE IT GETS WORSE AND I END UP PUTTING MY FOOT THROUGH IT. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME I LIVE IN A 4 SEASON STATE AND THAT IT IS NORMAL DO TO SALT EROSION. I HAVE HAD A GARAGE KEPT VEHICLE AND I AM CONSTANTLY CLEANING THE CAR DURING THE WINTER BECAUSE I KNOW SALT EATS CARS. HERE I AM 2 MONTHS LATER AND I SEE THE OUT CRY OF OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS ON THE TODAY SHOW. HOW CAN THEY BE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS. I PLAN TO GET A NEW CAR WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR SO IN ORDER TO SELL THIS ONE I WILL HAVE TO SPEND THE MONEY TO FIX IT BECAUSE NO USED CAR BUYER WOULD WANT TO BUY IT IN THIS STATE. MY CAR IS A LEMON. *TR
I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM YOU GUYS AFTER THE FACT. MY CAR DEALERSHIP(SERVICE GUY). I WENT TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR SOMETHING ELSE AND THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT OF THE RECALL. SOMETHING COULD'VE HAPPEN TO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR WITHOUT WARNING. THEY DID REPROGRAM THE CAR MODULE. BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S THE ISSUE THE CAR IS STILL DRIVING AS IT DID BEFORE AND I HOPE I DID NOT PURCHASE ONE OF YOUR MANY CARS I'VE HEARD OF AS A LEMON. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW MY NEXT STEPS IN LOOKING INTO GETTING A UPGRADE ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE THESE ALTIMAS. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP AND GO THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN TAKE THIS CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO SWITCH IT OUT I ONLY HAVE 34,399 MILES ON THIS CAR. THIS WAS THE SECOND RECALL ON THIS CAR AND I ONLY HAD THIS CAR A YEAR I TRADED IN MY GALANT 01 AND THAT ONLY HAD 59,732 MILES ON IT SO I'M NOT HARD ON CARS I TAKE CARE OF THINGS. MY SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME I DON'T WANT TO HURT NO ONE AND I DON'T WANT NO ONE TO HURT ME OR GET KILLED. I'M BRINGING THIS MATTER TO YOUR ATTENTION FIRST ASKING YOU TO ALSO DON'T PUT MY SAFETY OR NOBODY ELSE IN JEOPARDY. PLEASE RESPOND BACK TO ME SO THIS MATTER CAN BE RESOLVED QUICKLY.
