Your car locked itself while your key fob was inside the vehicle, trapping an infant inside. You didn't press any lock button on the fob, and the car didn't warn you or offer any safety override option. This created a serious risk to your child's safety, and you had to get outside help to unlock the car. The issue likely involves a faulty door lock mechanism or control module that needs diagnosis and repair by the dealer.

While entering the highway at normal speed with no traffic around you, your sunroof suddenly made a loud boom and exploded with a glass shattering sound. You safely exited the highway and heard glass continuing to fall, then discovered your front sunroof was blown upward. The repair will likely involve replacing the damaged sunroof glass and checking the sunroof frame and seals for damage.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your brand new Telluride has rodent damage to the electrical wiring harness located under the floor. According to the service advisor, this is a known issue with newer cars because the wiring is made with soy-based materials that attract rodents. The repair will likely involve replacing the damaged wiring harness and possibly adding rodent deterrent measures.

Your instrument cluster display (the screen showing speed and fuel level) has gone black and won't turn on, even though the map screen next to it works fine. This means you can't see your speed or fuel gauge, which makes it difficult and unsafe to drive the vehicle. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the cluster's electrical connection or replacing the instrument cluster unit itself.

NHTSA #: 11713099
Power Train1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2025 Kia Telluride's transmission failed to hold the vehicle in Park when parked on an incline at just 3,903 miles, causing the car to roll freely despite the gear being engaged. The parking pawl (the mechanism that locks the transmission) was activating but not actually securing the vehicle, creating a risk of unintended movement. The dealership verified the problem during a test drive and determined the issue was internal to the transmission; a complete transmission replacement was needed to fix it.

Electrical System,vehicle Speed Control,service Brakes1 issue
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2025 Kia Telluride is experiencing sudden unintended acceleration where the vehicle speeds up on its own without you pressing the gas pedal, and your brakes don't respond during these episodes—only the car's internal safety systems can stop it. Additionally, your car is stalling unexpectedly, losing power when parked, cycling the electrical system back on without the engine running, and having trouble starting in the morning. These problems create serious safety risks while driving.

NHTSA #: 11725364
Visibility/wiper,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
criticalVISIBILITY/WIPER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Mar 2026

Your windshield cracked suddenly while driving on the highway in clear weather with no visible impact or debris — suggesting a possible manufacturing defect rather than road damage. Additionally, your adaptive cruise control randomly applies the brakes as if detecting a vehicle ahead when there isn't one, causing sudden unexpected deceleration at highway speeds. This false braking creates a serious safety risk of being rear-ended by following traffic. Repairs would likely involve windshield replacement and a diagnostic check or software update to the forward collision avoidance system.

NHTSA #: 11725371
Air Bags,seat Belts1 issue
criticalAIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS
CrashFiled: Feb 2026

Your 2025 Telluride was involved in a multi-vehicle collision at approximately 40-45 mph. Neither the driver-side nor passenger-side airbags deployed, and the seatbelts did not lock during impact. Your daughter was injured when she hit her head on the dashboard. A collision center inspection found no airbag error codes, but the system's failure to deploy during a significant crash is concerning. Resolving this issue may require Kia to retrieve and analyze the vehicle's black box data and perform a detailed diagnostic of the airbag and seatbelt systems.

Steering,electrical System,engine1 issue
criticalSTEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your engine has shut down unexpectedly while driving, with a message telling you to put the vehicle in Park or Neutral and restart. This happened multiple times in stop-and-go traffic and at highway speeds, causing all systems including steering and braking to shut down temporarily until you restarted the engine. The check engine light also came on, and the engine ran roughly afterward. The service department was unable to reproduce the problem when they inspected the vehicle.

Engine1 issue
criticalENGINE
Filed: Feb 2026

Your instrument panel started flashing and beeping while you were driving, then your engine shut down and displayed a message telling you to put the car in park to restart. This has happened multiple times, but your dealer says there are no error codes and they can't reproduce the problem. After 5 weeks at the dealership, they still haven't identified the cause. The repair will likely involve diagnosing the engine control system, electrical connections, and sensor inputs to find what's causing the unexpected shutdown.

Electrical System,vehicle Speed Control,forward Collision Avoidance1 issue
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Jan 2026

Your adaptive cruise control is applying the brakes on its own while driving at highway speeds, even when there's no vehicle, pedestrian, or obstacle ahead. This happens multiple times under similar highway conditions without any warning, and has created a dangerous situation where cars behind you could rear-end you. The dealership and Kia have been notified but haven't been able to fix it, and Kia has already issued a service campaign for 2024 Tellurides with the same problem. The issue likely involves a malfunction in the forward collision avoidance or automatic braking system that needs to be diagnosed and repaired by Kia.

NHTSA #: 11709481
Steering,lane Departure1 issue
criticalSTEERING,LANE DEPARTURE
CrashFiled: Dec 2025

While driving your 2025 Kia Telluride with lane assist active at 55 mph around a curve, the steering wheel began pushing and pulling erratically, then failed to respond to steering input and kept the vehicle going straight. Your vehicle drifted across the highway and crashed into a ditch, deploying the airbags. You sustained back injuries and bruises. The steering failure occurred at approximately 33,000 miles with no warning lights beforehand. Diagnosis and repair will require a qualified technician to inspect the lane assist system, steering column, and associated electronic controls.

While driving on the highway, you heard a loud explosion-like noise followed by a rush of wind. When you checked, you found the sunroof glass had shattered completely. This happened without any impact from another vehicle or object.

Visibility/wiper1 issue
highVISIBILITY/WIPER
Filed: Feb 2026

Your windshield developed a large crack (about 1/3 of the glass) without any impact or visible damage, after you heard two loud cracking noises the day before. The dealership acknowledged reports of similar defective windshield issues in Tellurides, though they initially denied awareness of the problem. You may need a full windshield replacement, as the crack appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than impact damage.

Filed: Jan 2026

Your car's driver display screen goes completely black when you start it in the morning, making it impossible to see your speed and fuel level. All of your driver assistance features, including lane departure warning and backup prevention, stop working when this happens. This is happening on a brand new car with less than 500 miles, suggesting a potential electrical or software issue. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the display and electrical system, possibly requiring software updates or replacement of display components.

Your sunroof glass suddenly exploded outward while driving at 70 mph, making a loud gunshot-like sound with no warning light. Glass shards scattered into the rear of your vehicle, and the sunroof opening is now exposed to the elements. The dealer suggested filing an insurance claim, but you believe this is a manufacturer defect. Fixing this will require a complete sunroof glass replacement and inspection of the sunroof assembly for any structural issues.
