2015 Kia Optima Other Problems

My Kia OptimaLX had no check engine light not running any different no warning or light indicators turned on but car caught on fire while parked after only driving less than 5mins less than 1 mile from home. Entire front dash burned all the way to the gear shift. Every recall notice recieved was taken care of as soon as I was notified that there was a recall and they had the part to change it out.

The car is experiencing the same problem reported on technical service bulletin SA187 (Blind spot detection (BSD) system logic improvement (SA 187)) BUT KIA states my VIN number is not listed under the service bulletin and therefore I have to pay $189 to get a software upgrade done.

Not sure what the exact problem is and my mechanic cannot figure out either, I had the car a little over a year purchased from carvana! First few months the brakes started messing up got caught in the rain ran into a trash can left minor scartches but nothing was wrong internally.

My 2015 Kia is burning 1. a lot of oil and 2. The second is the car smells of gas scared it is one that will catch fire

The paint on my pearl white 2015 Kia started chipping around windshield areas a few years ago. Front ,side and back. Now the whole trunk is coming off and an area around rear passenger side.

On the behalf of my daughter I am filing this formal complaint: * On August 10, 2022 my daughter was driving home from Des Moines to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was on the highway and all of the sudden her car engine shut down, no warning lights came on prior to this happening. She did not have power steering, it took all she had to pull the car over safely, she was able to use the brakes but barely.

My car caught on fire under the hood about 15 minutes after I drove and parked it. It was not running at the time the fire started. We tried to put it out with 2 fire extinguishers but were not able to.

My Kia Optima needs/needed to have a software update to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to installed. The Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) protects the engine from excessive connecting rod bearing damage.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Optima. The contact stated their daughter was driving at 55 MPH, the vehicle in front of the driver slammed on their brakes for a complete stop which caused the contact to depressed on the brake pedal however the vehicle did not stop or slow down causing the driver to crash into the rear of the vehicle in front. The driver-side air bag did deploy.

I started driving to work drove a mile went to accelerate to get on the highway, all my dash lights came on and and I pulled over, my break was stiff so I figured it died, it started to smoke, at first the door wouldn’t open for me to get out, I had to manually unlock it which is weird because if my car is put into park the door automatically unlock normally, when I got out I saw the smoke getting thicker, so I backed up within minutes the car was in flames.

The shark fin antenna cover comes off during high speed and my impact another vehicle which may cause an accident.

I was driving down i25 around 530pm after work when all of a sudden my sliding sunroof glass exploded. There was no one around me at all thank god because the glass went everywhere and I didn't have my 10yr old son in the car as I usually do. Kia in motor city colorado springs is where we bought it.

I own a 2015 kia optima. I have a panoramic sunroof that stretches he entire length of the car. I was driving down the highway during a very brutal winter where we had temperatures in the minus category a few times.

This complaint has nothing to do with my vehicle. It is about other people's vehicles that have the super-bright headlights. I get temporarily blinded by these late model vehicles with new technology headlights (hid or LED) when they are coming toward me.

I was driving on my driveway going less than 10mph and all the sudden I heard a noise like I was being shot at. I immediately stopped and got out to see what the problem was and noticed my sun roof had exploded outwards

Driving down the road today, going no faster than 70 MPH. Suddenly I heard something that sounded like gun shots. It was my sunroof, it had exploded!

On 11/29/17 at around 1:30pm while driving on the freeway on interstate 80 west bound I heard a loud bang that sounded like it came from above. The bang was so loud that it startled me. I then felt air rushing in from above my head.

Driving to work, that is less than 5 miles, started to hear a noise then car just stopped, called roadside assistance , towed to dealership. Had to wait for their diagnosis… I should be under my warranty. I have 44,400?

There seems to be some oil burning off when I drive. But none leaking on the ground. My car is consuming oil.

engine died while driving 45 on highway, tow to garage and was told to take to dealership because of a recall for my engine. towed the car to the dealership and they check and are telling me that my car engine wasn't covered and I would have to paid for the repair. I was told the problem was the engine manufactured with the rod bearing issue.

Driving down a highway and my engine completely turned off. I was lucky enough to make it to the edge safely, but my car would not start. Had it towed to a Kia dealership where they told me since the reset never took place, they would not honor the recall.

I have a 2015 Kia optima that started experiencing problems the week of January 26th. I contacted Kia Consumer Affairs and was advised to have my car towed to Van Guard Kia of Arlington TX since there were 2-3 recalls on the car that I was not aware of. I was told by Kia Consumer Affairs that if the problem with my car was related to a recall, that Kia would be responsible for the repair.

I was driving my car and was hearing a clicking/thumping sound, until I turned left into a street where the motor just started shaking and making a louder noise. I started to press on the brakes because the sound and feeling of the car was very unusual. I came to a complete stop and put my car in park and waited where finally the engine just cut off even though the lights stayed on.

On Monday, August 02, 2021, I was driving home from work and suddenly, when I stepped on the gas pedal, the car didn’t move but the RPMs were reveving very high and all the lights, accessories continued to work. The car had to be pushed out of the street and into a parking lot, until it was towed the following morning to my local mechanic.

Was driving on the freeway at about 55 MPH, got in lane 4 to exit the highway when my engine just turned off. I drifted to the side of the highway and tried to restart the engine. When I tried to restart the engine smoke started to come from the engine.

I am writing to file a complaint regarding a 2015 Kia Optima I purchased from Synergy Auto Deals LLC (formerly located at 1001 S State Road 7 Hollywood, FL 33023). The dealership failed to disclose a critical open safety recall on the vehicle at the time of sale, which I believe violates consumer safety standards and puts me at significant risk. Window regular has been replaced 2 times in 2 years.Having problems again with the same drivers side window. Costing over $600.Window keep getting off track want go up and or down. couldn't drve rain pouring in .Regulator replaced year 2022, 2023 now awaiting a appointment for another replacement

I have a leak in my truck after it rains.

Passenger door handle fell off in my hand. Worried the orhers will do the same. When I called the dealership in Cocoa FL they said that was the 5th call for door handles falling off this week.

My sunroof basically spontaneously combusted while I was driving, sending tiny shards of glass flying. Thank goodness my sunshade was closed to catch all the glass shards and that no vehicles or bystanders were nearby to be hit by glass. The loud noise startled me but I was able to keep calm enough to drive the car to a safe location to inspect what had happened

Pearl white paint is peeling and chipping. I have photos, paint Samples and Receipts from having to repair to prevent rust.

The paint on my white 2015 kia optima is coming off and when my windshield was replaced more paint came off on the roof above the windshield.

The fuel rail seals keep leaking and spraying fuel all over . Fuel rail needs replaced

Driving down the road and suddenly there was loud knocking and smoke coming from under the hood and got it to the side of the road and turned it off and now it won't crank. The dash lights come on when you turn the key and that's all it will do. No noises at all.

Kia cars lack an engine mobilizer or something and thieves are able to break in and bypass the cars alarm and break the steering column down and start the car with a simple USB and steal the car. Kia’s are being targeted because of this issue and are being stolen . This is a major safety problem and should be fixed .

Heard noise, while driving, hitting car. Fin cover for antenna broke off. Pulled over and luckily found it.

I buy the car 2 week ago and star turn on light slow I just get afraid because I didn't know that the car need to go back to Kia for the recall and is a used car I will like to see how soon I can get to the dealer to get fix is the only thing that I have for work . The motor in my vehicle failed. It put myself, passengers, and others traveling on the highway at risk because the car shut down immediately in the road. The problem was identified by an independent service center.

Hi my 2015 kia optima on 08/07/2020 I put the recommended gas in my tank and then got onto the interstate after about 5-15 mins it started loosing power and I could no longer accelerate past 60. Also now when I start driving it jerks really bad and won't go past 2 on the rpms. When it jerks I'm assuming that it is the gears trying to change.

've had nothing but problems with my car, first with my break light switch, then my a/c control panel went out .

Their is a continuous sound coming out from the top of the dash board, when you start the engine. This sharp sound sometimes occurs time to time to course discomfort to anyone inside the car. This sharp sound occur some times and not always.

I wanted to add more information to my complaint. When in motion in front of high school car went into limp mode with knocking noise coming from engine. My husband is a mechanic and discovered metal flakes inside engine.

AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FIND THAT THIS YEAR VEHICLE HAS THE MOST OVERALL CONSUMER COMPLAINTS AND THERE STILL HAS YET TO BE A RECALL ON THE ENGINE? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY KIA SKIPPED THIS YEAR?? LET ALONE BLAME CONSUMERS THAT IT'S THEIR FAULT FOR NOT FOLLOWING THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, YET WHEN TOLD THE SCHEDULE HAS BEEN FOLLOWED, WILL FIND SOME OTHER LAME EXCUSE SO THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT AT FAULT. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO HAVE THIS ENGINE RECALLED? WE AS CONSUMERS, MYSELF, A SINGLE HARD WORKING PARENT, DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST BECAUSE KIA SAYS IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT. THIS PROBLEM STARTED BEGINNING OF APRIL 2019, MY VEHICLE HAS 52K.

INTERMITENT EBGINE LIGHT AND GOES ON AND OFF. HAD IN A LOCAL SHOP AND THEY STATE ITS A CALAYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE DOES HAVE SLIGHT TICK ONLY WITH EXCILARATION ON AN UPHILL CLIMB BUT NOT HARDLY NOTICEABLE. NO LOSS OF POWER OR OTHER ISSUE. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 76,700 MILES.

The following happens anytime while driving the electronic control unit and software, sensors, actuators, warning lights, fault codes, and performance related concerns of the electronic stability control system. My passenger window won't go up once you put it down without a fight. I been to the dealer 4 times and it's not fixed.

When I get in the car sometimes it cranks right up with no problem but on that same day or the next I can try and frank it but it won't frank it just clicks the dash board will light up and everything and after two or three attempts it it will cranks up and have no problems for a few hours then I check it and then it might frank right up and might just click a few times and then crank right up I think its in the ignition switch I don't understand this has been going on about 4 months

In the past 2 months I have noticed my car shudders and shakes a lot when it is stopped at a stoplight or when parked with the engine idling it used to be that I didn't even know the car was running in either of these positions.

Back up camera failed in vehicle and kia dealer wanted to charge $1000.00 to fix it the car has less than 55,000 miles .

The issue I am having, is my car completely shutting off while driving. This happened for the forth time since leasing the vehicle new in 2015. After the first two occurrences which took place a few months after purchase, I took into the dealership and they weren't able to find the problem.

When turning on the a/c system I get a really strong mildew/horrible smell from the vents.

Paint is peeling off all over my car. I see this is a known issue with the white paint and nothing is being done about it. I have touched up a few spots but it is only getting worse

**This complaint isn't directly related to the safety of the car** However, due to outstanding number of similar cases I've witness online. I would like to formally make a complaint for the defective White paint on my Kia vehicle. Like many other "white" Kia and Hyundai vehicles, the white paint is bubbling and peeling from multiple areas of my vehicle all at once.

The paint is cracking and peeling off by the back window on the roof creating rust areas.

Well my paint is peeling everywhere I only had car 4 years, I can barely wash it because the car wash takes more paint off, I seen Hyundai do a paint recall or something like that so I'm wondering if it's the same for Kia.

Paint flakes and chips while driving or during car washes. Paint is "Snow White Peral". Numerous complaints have been filed about this paint to Kia as well.

I bought the car odometer and title both said 98xxx on the car. 3 days after I purchased the car the motor started knocking. Come to find out the actual miles are over 240,xxx.

on 1/18/2025 my teenage daughter was driving down the highway at a speed of around 70 MPH when she heard a loud boom and her sunroof front panel blew broken glass into her car and all over her. She did not run into anything or see any items fly in the air at her car

There is serious peeling/delamination of the paint off of my car.

My vehicle is painted in the Snow White Pearl. The paint started out looking almost "bubbled" but definitely showed serious signs of delamination, quickly after noticing the delamination, the paint flaked off in relatively large pieces all over my vehicle.

Hi I have a 2015 Kia optima white(pearl). Like many other white Kia’s on the road, my paint is continuously simply flaking off. This problem is being ignored by Kia which is very frustrating.

The back passenger door wont close, the door latch is broken making it to where it will fly open at any time driving down the road.

Hybrid system malfunction

My paint is delaminating all over my vehicle and is flying off in large sheets. My car now has metal exposed which is susceptible to rust which poses a risk to the structure of my vehicle and the potential of my windshield flying off as a result. This first started occurring about a year ago.

While driving doesn't matter the speed, my car doesn't accelerate and jerks, it had does these many times and I take it into the shop, at least 3 times now, and they can't find anything. Since it doesn't do it when they test drive it, they don't know what is wrong. But it is very annoying, since there are times I have been on a highway and my car doesn't speed up.

While I was driving the car just stopped accelerating, the dash was still lit but the car went completely out would not turn over or restart,

The paint on my Kia is abnormally bubbling and flaking off.

I have a 2015 Snow White Pearl Kia Optima. My car have several spots where the paint has started to boil and peel off the car. The peeling has spread to all over the car and I can see new spots that start off looking like a cigarette burn, you can also see where the paints bubbles up.

The paint is chipping off in large pieces. We hand wash this vehicle and the paint will just chip right off.

Car was stolen because of kia issue

My paint is bubbling, chipping and is destroyed for no reason. I was my car by hand with a special car wash soap and dry it with a shammy. I took pictures and within 2 months of having my car sit the paint it boiling?

In early February, my Kia was broken into and attempted to be stolen. There has been a lot of word going around about how Kia’s are easy to steal. My car fell victim to the viral trend of Kia theft.

Have a white pearl paint that is completely chipping off by the pillars, windshield sides, top of the trunk, roof, around the gas tank and some car door edges. Have read an excessive amount of kias with MAJOR white paint job problems. It is also obvious the paint is thin as water which is contributing to this issue.

Sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving down the road. The glass is pushing outward like it was broken from the inside of the car. Nothing hit the care at the time, there was a loud explosion sound and then cracking sounds after that.

I purchased a 2015 Kia Optima SXL Turbo in Snow White Pearl color on Dec 11,2020. In Mid 2021 I started to notice little chip marks in different places throughout the exterior of the car. On April 16,2022 I was washing my car to prepare for vacation and as I was washing a large patch of paint flew off.

Rapid delamination of paint including severe chipping and paint bubbles. Car was inspected at an auto body shop who provided the final determination of this issue as well as provided clarity that this is a known Kia issue. Kia is refusing to handle this.

Using more than normal oil amount

It just started losing power. I looked it up online and there is a recall on the knock sensor harness/glow plug. Will not go over 60 MPH.

My car has a foul smell in it I took it to my mechanic and they told me that it has bacteria growing under the dashboard and the engine and that's why it smell like mold when I turn on the a/c I just bought the car about 4 months ago from drivetime in columbus.

The speed limit on the freeway at 70 and the car cut but all lights wher still on it to me to sit for 5 minutes and then it started but a few days later my check eingine light came on and they say it a p0014 code but the car is knocking.

On october 15, 2018, I purchased from pep boys four goodyear all season 205/65r16 tires. On two separate occasions since then I have had a tire puncture and flatten immediately as a result of very little measurable side impact with a curb. After researching this matter online I have determined that others are having the same issue with this goodyear style tire.
