FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS I STARTED SMELLING FUMES IN THE CABIN AND WHEN I RESEARCHED IT, IT SEEMS LIKE JEEP WRANGLERS SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. I PLAN ON TAKING IT TO THE SAME DEALER, WHO TOLD ME FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS, THAT I HAVE NO ISSUES TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE LIFE TIME WARRENTY

THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T COVER IT EITHER BECAUSE WE STOPPED THE FIRE... WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND IT SEEMED FINE BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I HAVE A OBD2 DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER AND IT SHOWED THE CODE P0306. THIS IS A MISFIRE ON THE NUMBER SIX CYLINDER. I TOOK IT TO LARRY H. MILLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DEALERSHIP IN ALBUQUERQUE AND THIS IS WHAT WAS DONE. "WI TECH DIAGNOSTICS FOR FAULT CODES, HAD STORE CODES FOR INJECTOR #6 CIRCUIT, NO WORK DONE, OPERATING AS PER DESIGN". I ASKED WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND [XXX] SAID THAT THE TECH COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY COULD NOT FIX ANYTHING. [XXX] OFFERED TO PERFORM A FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING BUT THIS WAS THE ONLY OPTIONS FOR NOW. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE JEEP AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I LOOKED UP THIS CODE 0306 ON THE JEEP JK SITE AND READ POSTS OF "PENTASTAR PROBLEM". IN ALL CASES THESE PEOPLE HAD TO VISIT THE DEALERSHIP 4 TO 5 TIMES UNTIL THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE ENTIRE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER THE MOST RECENT FAILURE AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS MY UNMODIFIED 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X HAS GIVEN ME AN AUDIBLE "DING" WARNING AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON WHILE STUCK IN VERY SLOW MOVING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC (APPROXIMATELY 0-10 MPH). BOTH TIMES IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 85-90 DEGREES F OUTSIDE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS OFF. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THE "HOT OIL" WARNING RECALL FIX HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE THAT WARNING NOR DID THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISE MORE THAN HALF THE WIDTH OF THE NEEDLE. TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DR 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH A BANGING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE, FOLLOWED BY A DECREASE IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN OPERATION TO THE RESIDENCE, AND UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000.

THE COMPLAINT IS HOW CHRYSLER CORP. IS ADDRESSING THE J30 RECALL. TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING CAUSING ENGINE FIRES. I OWN A 2008 WRANGLER THAT COST 50K. FOR THE J30 RECALL FIX THEY ARE ADDING A HOT OIL ICON ON THE DASH AND FLASH THE COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE A SENSOR. THE ENGINE CAN STILL CATCH FIRE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO ADD A NEW TRANSMISSION COOLER TO COOL THE FLUID, AND PREVENT THE OIL FROM BOILING. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER ENGINE FIRES CAN HAPPEN IN CITY TRAFFIC STARTING AND STOPPING. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD SELL ME ONE AT $500 WITH TWO HOURS OF LABOR AT $110 PER HR. IF THIS IS A RECALL, DUE TO FAULTY ENGINEERING, THEN WHY DOES THE CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE RECALL ??? I AM WRITING THIS BEFORE THERE IS PROPERTY AND OR PERSONAL DAMAGE. HOPEFULLY, SOMEONE IN NHTSA CAN HELP WITH THE WAY CHRYSLER IS HANDLING THIS PARTICULAR RECALL. *TR

ON NOVEMBER 19, 2007 AS I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT A RESTAURANT, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND QUICKLY NOTICED A RED DOT LIGHT ABOVE MY FUEL GAUGE. I HAD TO PULL MY PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID ROLLING ANY FURTHER. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START MY CAR AGAIN. INITIALLY, SEVERAL LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE MOTOR SEEMED TO RESPOND TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. HOWEVER, AFTER EACH ATTEMPT, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AFTER A FEW QUICK SECONDS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED. I WAS ACTUALLY JUST A MILE DOWN THE ROAD FROM JUST PICKING UP MY JEEP FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR THE PAST 8 DAYS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I HAD LITERALLY JUST PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS FINALLY RESOLVED. THE ACTUAL RECEIPT FROM THE SERVICE SHOP SHOWS THAT 0.2 HOURS WERE SPENT ON FIXING THE ISSUE WHICH INVOLVED THE WCM MODULE. THE 8 DAYS WHERE IT SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP CONSISTED OF 2 DAYS OF NO DIAGNOSIS, ESSENTIALLY JUST SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP; 1 DAY WHEN THE WCM MODULE WAS ORDERED AFTER DIAGNOSIS; AND THE REST OF THE TIME SPENT WAITING FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE AND PLACED ON THE CAR. THE FIRST STALL OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO JUST MOVE THE KIDS INTO THE HOUSE WITH NO REAL SAFETY INCIDENT. HOWEVER, THIS SECOND INCIDENT LED TO ME ROLLING INTO PARKING LOT TRAFFIC AND TOWARDS THE RESTAURANT SIDEWALK AND BUILDING. THE PARKING SPACE WAS AT AN INCLINE WHICH ALLOWED THE STALLED OUT CAR TO GAIN MOMENTUM AS IT ROLLED BACKWARD. FORTUNATELY SINCE THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT I QUICKLY REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE PARKING BRAKE. HOWEVER I DID WIND UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT BLOCKING TRAFFIC IN AND OUT OF THE LOT. *TR
