Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 288)
Structure →7 issues
Your Jeep's frame has developed severe internal rust and crumbling despite regular undercoating. The manufacturer left open holes in the frame near the wheel wells without drain holes, allowing water to collect inside the frame where you couldn't see it happening. A compromised frame can fail while driving, causing loss of vehicle control and serious injury. Fixing this would require professional frame inspection and likely replacement of affected frame sections.

Your Jeep's frame is extensively rusted with visible holes throughout, which a mechanic has identified as a safety concern. The rust is severe enough that the vehicle may not be safe to drive, and you've had to stop using it. Addressing this issue would likely require professional frame repair or replacement, which is a significant undertaking.

Suspension →3 issues
Your brake pedal went to the floor after parking, and your mechanic found three rust holes in the brake lines leaking fluid. The mechanic also discovered severe rust damage to the frame itself, making high-speed driving unsafe. The issue appears related to water and salt spray entering the frame through side holes and rusting it from the inside out, particularly common in northeastern climates. Repairs will likely involve replacing the rusted brake lines and potentially significant frame repair or replacement work.

Your Jeep's frame has rusted from the inside out, which caused both the upper and lower control arms on the passenger side rear to separate from the frame. Fortunately, this was discovered during a safety inspection before you were driving the vehicle. The frame rust has compromised the structural integrity where the suspension components attach, and repairing this will likely require frame reinforcement, welding, or replacement of affected frame sections.

The bolts that attach the cross member underneath your Jeep have rusted out of their holes. More importantly, the frame itself has rusted completely through on both sides because water has no way to drain out, causing rust damage to develop. This could eventually affect the structural integrity of your suspension and frame. Addressing this will likely require removing the rusted bolts, repairing or replacing damaged frame sections, and ensuring proper drainage holes are created to prevent future water buildup.

Suspension,structure →2 issues
Your Jeep's frame has rotted from the inside out around the lower control arms, which caused the lower control arm to disconnect while driving on the highway. This left your rear axle unstable and free-floating, creating a serious crash risk. Water enters the frame through holes and gets trapped inside where it can't be seen or drained, causing hidden rust damage that requires cutting open and welding the frame to repair.

While driving over a bridge, your Jeep's rear end felt like it was separating from the body, making the vehicle impossible to control. A mechanic found that the frame had rusted from the inside, causing the rear control arms to separate from the frame with no solid steel remaining to repair it. This is a critical structural failure that requires frame replacement or a new vehicle.

Steering,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your Jeep's front frame has rusted severely from the inside out, nearly separating the steering gearbox from the rest of the frame, and the passenger side frame has become so soft you can compress it by hand. You noticed the problem when the Jeep suddenly became difficult to steer straight on the road. The rust progressed rapidly—there was no visible rust two years ago, and the frame appeared sound when the steering gearbox was replaced last year. Fixing this will likely require a complete frame replacement rather than repairs.

Structure,engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your Jeep caught fire underneath while you were driving, forcing you to stop and exit the vehicle immediately. The fire was severe enough to completely destroy the vehicle. This indicates a critical fuel system or engine issue that caused the fire.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your vehicle was involved in a crash at 60 mph when you swerved to avoid another vehicle and hit a rock wall barrier. The front driver and passenger airbags did not deploy during the impact, even though the collision caused damage to the front bumper and frame. While you experienced only minor soreness, the airbag failure is a serious safety concern. The airbags may need to be inspected and replaced, along with any damaged sensors or wiring in the airbag system.

Parking Brake →1 issue
Your Jeep Wrangler failed its state inspection because it's part of a parking brake recall (NHTSA Campaign 02V041000), but the replacement part is no longer available from the manufacturer. Even though you haven't experienced an actual parking brake failure, you won't be able to pass inspection without the recall repair. Getting the repair done may require finding an alternative solution or contacting a Jeep dealer to discuss options for completing the recall.

Fuel System, Gasoline →1 issue
Your Jeep has a strong fuel smell after refueling, along with rough idling and reduced power while driving. Your vehicle is included in a safety recall (94V106000) for the fuel system, but the dealer says the recall part has been discontinued and cannot complete the repair. The manufacturer confirmed the part is no longer available, and you've requested they replace the entire fuel pump assembly instead.

Electrical System →1 issue
While driving at various speeds, your speedometer and tachometer suddenly drop to zero, while your fuel, oil pressure, and temperature gauges continue working normally. A few seconds later, your check engine light comes on and the odometer displays 'NO BUS,' then everything returns to normal after a few seconds to a minute. In some cases, your airbag light illuminates instead of the engine light, then clears on its own. This happens randomly but more often on bumpy roads, and never occurs when parked. The issue likely involves a loose or corroded electrical connection in the instrument cluster or a communication bus problem that a mechanic will need to diagnose with a scan tool.

Suspension,structure,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your Jeep's frame is rusting in the area in front of the rear wheels because water collects inside the frame through drainage holes that were drilled at the factory. When rust becomes visible on the outside, the inside of the frame has already suffered more extensive damage. Fixing this issue requires welding and specialized equipment, so professional installation is critical to ensure the vehicle remains safe to drive.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your Jeep's frame is experiencing severe rust and deterioration that the owner believes is due to a design flaw. This is a structural integrity issue that could affect the vehicle's safety and durability over time. Addressing this would likely require professional frame inspection and rust treatment or frame replacement.
