Your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalled without warning while you were trying to accelerate from a stop sign. The dealer found loose wires, and an independent mechanic suspected a faulty ignition switch, but the issue couldn't be reliably reproduced. The vehicle was never officially diagnosed or repaired, leaving the stalling problem unresolved. You may need to have the ignition switch and engine wiring connections inspected and tightened or replaced.

I HAVE 2 ISSUES. 1ST IS JEEP INTERMITTENTLY DOESN'T START. WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSES IT TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ON SIDE STREETS. IT CRANKS BUT DOESN'T FIRE. WAS TOLD IT COULD BE A BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY. NEXT ISSUE IS IT INTERMITTENTLY PUTS IN SELF IN ALL GEARS SOMETIMES WHEN I START IT AND SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE TO TURN JEEP OFF AND RESTART IT. WORST HAS BEEN WHEN I'M ON HIGHWAY AND IT DOES THIS I GO FROM 75MPH TO 20MPH AT A DANGEROUS RATE. I THEN HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF AND RESTART AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. AND PROGRESSIVELY GETTING MORE OFTEN.

AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE I STOPPED AND WENT INTO A STORE. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT IN 5-10 MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO STARTED IT, THE ENGINE FELT AS THOUGH IT WERE "JUMPING". HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT HAD DROPPED A VALVE SEAT. CHRYSLER DETERMINED THAT IT HAPPENED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN OVERHEATED. HOWEVER THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO OVERHEAT CODES IN THE COMPUTER. THE GAUGES HAVE NEVER READ HOT. IT WAS NOT LOW ON COOLANT. THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO LEAKS. IT WAS NEVER HOT.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A 5.7 LITER HEMI V-8. IT CURRENTLY HAS AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK BECAUSE JEEP USES CHEAP SCREWS TO MOUNT THE MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. AS SUCH, THE SCREWS SNAP CAUSING A LEAK. THIS IS A WELL KNOW PROBLEM FOR THIS ENGINE BUT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND THE REPAIRS WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $500. NEVER BUY A JEEP!

CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT ABOUT 124,000 MILES. LUCKILY IN THE DRIVEWAY WHERE I HAD PARKED THE CAR AFTER RUNNING NORMAL ERRANDS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED SINCE THE BATTERY WAS NEW AND THE STARTER SEEMED FROZEN. I TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF THIS CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND AT A TOP LOCAL GARAGE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. I WAS STUNNED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NOTHING. THE LOCAL MECHANIC SAW "CHUNKS OF METAL" IN THE PAN. I NOW NEED A COMPLETELY NEW ENGINE 5 WEEKS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN MY JEEP HEMI ENGINE. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTER OR NOTIFICATION ABOUT THIS APPARENTLY WELL KNOWN AND RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM. I HAD EVERY RECALL PERFORMED ON THIS CAR. THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WHICH APPARENTLY INCLUDES THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THE HEMI IS A GOOD ENGINE. REALLY??? NO APOLOGIES, NO CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. OUT OF WARRANTY, SO IT IS JUST TOO BAD FOR ME AS A CUSTOMER. THEY KNOW THE DESIGN FLAW EXISTS BUT DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. JUST THEIR BOTTOM LINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHERMAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM IN SKOKIE, ILLINOIS WHERE THE FOLLOWING SERIES OF REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE: THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS, THE FAN CLUTCH, COIL #6, A DRIVE CONTROL MODULE, THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE, FUEL INJECTION SERVICE, DECARBONIZATION SERVICE TO COMBUSTION CHAMBER, AND UPPER INTAKE TO THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

I OWN A 07 GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A 5.7L V8 HEMI. I LOVED THAT TRUCK AND TOOK GREAT CARE OF IT. NEARLY 10 MONTHS AGO I HAD A VALVE SEAT DROP WITHOUT WARNING AT 92K MILES AND NOW I NEED A NEW ENGINE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE AND I KEPT VERY GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES I STOPPED AT A STORE TO GET MATERIALS, WHEN I RETURNED AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER. IT HASN'T STARTED SINCE THAT DAY. IT WAS TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND $150 LATER THEY LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY "THOUGHT" THE ISSUE WAS, BUT I WAS STILL INFORMED THE ONLY WAY TO CONFIRM I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WAS TO CHARGE ME $1,500 TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART AND "DIAGNOSE" THE ISSUE, NOT FIX IT. THEY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND STILL TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. ON TOP OF THAT EVERY CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE AND MAINTENANCE PERSON I'VE TALKED TO ABOUT THIS ISSUE (4) HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL, TO THE POINT OF BEING RUDE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER, I WAS QUOTED NEARLY $8,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GUARANTEE THE ISSUE WON'T OCCUR AGAIN SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAME PARTS. I SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD THAT AMOUNT OF WORK, SO NOW I'M JUST MAKING PAYMENTS ON A DEAD TRUCK THAT'S OF NO USE TO ME. FCA IS A JOKE OF A COMPANY, AND THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.

IT CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND GOING UP HILLS. IT ALSO MAKES THE GAS MILEAGE TO PLUMMET. REPAIRS WERE TOLD TO ME BY THE DEALER TO BE $5,800. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THIS CAR. THE DEALER TOLD US THE ENGINE WOULD GO 300,000 MILES, NO PROBLEM.

THEY FINALLY FIIXED THE OTHER 2 (SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND IGNITION SWITCH. I CALLED 3 WEEKS AGO AS IT KEPT SAYING "SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE" AND SEVERAL TIMES SHIFTED ITSELF INTO 4 WHEEL LOW. NOW IT WON'T START AND IS STUCK AGAIN. LESS THAN 60,000 MILES AND IT IS WORTHLESS.

AFTER SPEAKING WITH A MECHANIC ABOUT THE CAR, I WAS TOLD IT IS PROBABLY A DROPPED VALVE SEAT. NOW, I AM LOOKING AT OVER $4000 TO SWAP AN ENGINE THAT WAS NEVER HOT-RODDED OR ABUSED. AFTER A SIMPLE SEARCH ONLINE, I FIND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINES. SO MUCH SO THAT I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL OR CLASS ACTION SUIT.

WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES STALL I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, TURN THE IGNITION OFF, THEN RESTART BY TURNING THE IGNITION BACK ON AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE BACK IN DRIVE. I DID HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR RECALL P41 / NHTSA 14V-438 WHICH WAS TO RESOLVE ISSUES WITH LOSS OF POWER DURING DRIVING BUT NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES HAVE BEEN NOTICED SINCE THE REPAIR. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ABOUT THE LAST THREE YEARS WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES, BESIDE THE RECALL REPAIR, WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT NEVER FIXED. THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY AS THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE ENTERING ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR DURING HIGHWAY TRAVEL. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS IT LOOSES POWER STEERING SO CONTROL AND SPEED PUT OURSELVES AND OTHERS AT DANGER. THE DATE AND MILEAGE MENTIONED BELOW IS THE LAST TIME THE STALL OCCURRED AND NOT REFLECTIVE OF ALL THE OCCURRENCES WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED.

SERIOUS HAZARD. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND NO DIAGNOSIS. TO ATTEMPT DIAGNOSIS NOW AT DEALERSHIP, AM CHARGED $130. IF NO DIAGNOSIS MADE, THEN I HAVE TO PAY THE CHARGES. THIS IS AN UNTENABLE SITUATION FOR WHICH THE JEEP MANUFACTURER IS NOT WILLING TO ASSIST - I HAVE EMAILED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS. TO GET RID OF THE CAR, I WOULD HAVE TO TRADE IT IN AT A DEALERSHIP SINCE IT IS NOT SELLABLE PRIVATELY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR STALLS IN MOTION OR AT REST AND HAS QUIT ON CITY STREETS AND FREEWAYS - VERY DANGEROUS!!! SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY AND HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS QUIT WHILE IN TURNS AND WHEN GOING STRAIGHT. IT IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR WHEN THE CAR IS COLD OR THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS COLD. ONE DAY IT STALLED 5 TIMES.

AFTER CLEANING TRAFFIC PUSHED GAS PEDDLE TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT. CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER OF ROAD AVOIDING ONCOMING AND APPROACHING TRAFFIC. SHUT OFF KEY AND RESTARTED. MERGED INTO APPROACHING TRAFFIC. RECEIVED RECALL IN SEPT 2014. HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTINUALLY. THEY CONTINUE TO ADVISE THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO REPAIR RECALL DEFECT AND THEREFORE CANNOT MAKE A RECALL REPAIR APPOINTMENT. I FEEL THEY ARE PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH MY LIFE AND THOSE OF OTHERS ON THE ROAD WHO MAY STRIKE MY DISABLED CAR AFTER IGNITION SHUT OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR AND THE LIFT GATE SENSOR ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE LIFT GATE SENSOR. ALSO, THE DEALER REPLACED THE PCM SENSOR AND UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR ILLUMINATING AGAIN. I BOUGHT A USED 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2 YEARS AGO IN ALABAMA. WE HAVE SINCE MOVED TO NEW YORK STATE AND THEY DO VEHICLE INSPECTIONS (ALABAMA DOES NOT). WHEN GETTING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CUT OUT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS NON EXISTENT. ALL OTHER CUT OUTS ARE PRESENT AND THE LED FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS PRESENT AND WORKING. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS STAMPED AS BEING ORIGINAL AND NOT AFTERMARKET. BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A CUT OUT THE LED FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT VISIBLE WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INSTALLED AND WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP (FX CAPRARA) AND THEY TOLD ME TODAY THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT. A NEW PANEL BEING $600 AND A USED PANEL FROM MY LOCAL PICK AND PULL BEING $125. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY AND THEY AGAIN TOLD ME JEEP CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND THAT IT IS UP TO THE DEALERSHIPS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULD BE UP TO ME TO PAY FOR THIS. IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED ON THAT LEVEL. CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS HAS 2 DIFFERENT SPARK PLUGS WITH SAME PART NUMBER RE14MCC4. THIS IS THE CHRYSLER OEM SUPPLIER ANS PART NUMBER FOR HEMI ENGINE SPARK PLUGS THROUGH 2007. ONE OF THE TWO SPARK PLUGS IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE HEMI ENGINE AND LEADS TO STALLING WHILE DECELERATING. THE CONSUMER HAS NO INFORMATION ON WHICH ONE TO USE. NATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE PARTS DISTRIBUTORS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE DIFFERENCE. CHRYSLER HAS AN INTERNAL MEMO ("STAR CASE") THAT DOCUMENTS THE ISSUE BUT HAS NOT RELEASED IT TO THE PUBLIC. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND IT TOOK NEARLY A MONTH FOR THE REPAIR SHOP TO LOCATE, RECEIVE AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY PARTS. MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY LOST POWER. I WILL BE GOING 70 MPH OR 15 TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND THEN IT STALLS OUT AND WON'T ACCELERATE. I WILL PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN MY CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WILL CORRECT ITSELF MOST OF THE TIME. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A TRANSMISSION PLACE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. THE CONDUCTED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND REPLACED SOME ELECTRICAL WIRING AND IT SEEMED TO HELP FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS. NOW JUST LAST FRIDAY (20 APRIL 2012), I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND ALMOST GOT BROADSIDED BECAUSE THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 2.5 RPMS AND 10 MPH. LUCKILY THE CAR HEADING STRAIGHT FOR ME SLOWED DOWN AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY FOR ON COMING 55 MPH TRAFFIC. I LOOKED ON NUMEROUS WEBSITES AND AN UNGODLY AMOUNT OF JEEP OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER YESTERDAY (23 APRIL 2012) AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER MODULE. I WAS GETTING CODES U0404 AND U0103. IT COST $1051.50 TO FIX. I CHECKED ON-LINE AFTER, AND THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAID THAT THE JEEP MECHANICS WOULD RECOMMEND EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD JUST BREAK AGAIN 3 MONTHS LATER. ONE MAN EVEN NOTED THAT THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY HAVE CHANGED OVER 1,000 OF THOSE IN HIS SHOP ALONE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED! WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 5.7 L HEMI. IT DROVE JUST FINE FOR THE 1ST FEW WEEKS OF OWNING IT. RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED STALLING WHEN AT STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS, WHILE DRIVING, AND WHILE IN REVERSE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP A FEW TIMES ALREADY. IT HAS BEEN THROWING OFF CODES OF P0884 AND P0688. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED US THAT THOSE CODES STAND FOR POWER UP AT SPEED (P0884) AND ASD RELAY (P0668). WE HAVE JUST CHANGED ALL THE SPARK PLUGS AND ARE NOW IN THE MIDST OF CHANGING OUT THE COILS EVERYTIME THE JEEP STALLS, WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR JUST A FEW DAYS AND ARE NOW ON #5 OF 8 AND IT IS NOT WORKING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RUN OUT OF IDEAS AS TO HOW TO GET THIS FIXED. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE READ REVIEWS ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEBSITES AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES WITH NO RESOLVE. WE HAVE ALSO READ SOME REVIEWS AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT CHRYSLER/JEEP WILL NOT STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND STATE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I AS A CONSUMER FIND THIS WRONG. WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A BUSY FREEWAY AND ACCELERATED UP TO 60MPH WHEN THE JEEP SUDDENLY SLAMMED INTO SECOND GEAR AND REFUSED TO SHIFT. I COULDN'T GET IT TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN "LIMP" VERY ROUGHLY TO THE SHOULDER. IF PEOPLE HADN'T SLOWED DOWN I WOULD HAVE BEEN BUSTED FROM SEVERAL POINTS. WHILE PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC, I BEGAN ACCELERATING TO THE SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH. I WAS ACCELERATING RAPIDLY AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING QUICKLY FROM BEHIND. THE JEEP STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED ALL OF THE DRIVE LETTERS WITH BOXES AROUND THEM. THE JEEP WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR OVER 20 SECONDS, CAUSING ME TO RAPIDLY PULL OFF OF THE ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE DEALER FOUND A FAULTY ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE AND REPLACED IT. THE VEHICLE HAS WORKED WELL UNTIL 2/15/12. AT 70,000 MILES, THE DEALER INSTALLED MODULE HAS FAILED AGAIN. ONCE MORE THIS HAPPENED WHEN ENTERING A HEAVY TRAFFIC ROADWAY. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. IN MY CASE, BOTH FAILURES RESULTED IN ME HAVING TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED THAT THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM MUST BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE POWER WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LOW DURING ACCELERATION. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,100.

2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 3.0 CRD DIESEL ENGINE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH FOR JUST A FEW SECONDS AND THEN ABRUPTLY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ON AN INCLINE (WITH A TRAILER IN TOW) AT THE TIME AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL BEING TOWED. THIS PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING HAZARD TO THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGERS IN THE JEEP AND TO ANY OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND TODAY (8/15/2011) I WAS TOLD THIS IS A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I DO KNOW OF OTHER 3.0 CRD JEEPS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO WHILE DRIVING. STALLING CAUSES ALL ELECTRONICS TO SHUTOFF, WHICH RESULTS IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. NUMEROUS TIMES, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NEARLY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES FOR THE STALLING ISSUE, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS RANDOM STALLING IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD THAT ENDANGERS BOTH ME, MY PASSENGERS, AND PEOPLE DRIVING AROUND ME. 1. MY 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (5.7 HEMI; 64K MILES) WAS DUE FOR A TUNE UP. I PURCHASED REPLACEMENT SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE RECOMMENDED FROM A LOCAL AUTO PARTS RETAILER AND CHANGED THEM. 2. SUBSEQUENTLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING (APPROX 5 TIMES IN 25 MILES TRAVELED). THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AT STOPLIGHTS AND WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. 3. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AS ENGINE LIGHT HAD ALSO BEEN ON DURING ENTIRE TIME. DEALER WORKED ON TRYING TO FIND PROBLEM FOR 3 WEEKS. AFTER CONSULTING A CHRYSLER ENGINEER THEY FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT THE AFTERMARKET PLATINUM TIP SPARK PLUGS WERE CAUSING INTERFERENCE WITH THE VEHICLE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. DEALER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. I WENT BACK TO MY PARTS SUPPLIER AND THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE CONCERN." INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AGAIN ON 7-1-2009, 7-4-2009 AND ON 7-6-2009. LOST POWER AT INTERSTATE SPEED WHILE DRIVING. I REPEAT AND WAIT 5 TIMES OVER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, IT FAILED TO START EACH TIME. FINALLY AFTER I HAVE WAITED ABOUT 2 MORE MINUTES, I TRIED AGAIN AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN IT SHUT OFF AND BEGAN TO COAST. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL ON JULY 11, 2007 REGARDING THE TIPM. THE DEALER CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE, BUT CANNOT GET IT TO START. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 4,260.

I OWN A NEW 2007 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT I HAD FOR TWO WEEKS WITH APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES ON IT. A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER PURCHASE I CALLED THE DEALER TO TELL THEM THAT THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT WAS ON. THEY SAID NO TO BRING VEHICLE TO DEALER AS IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO A LOOSE GAS CAP, AND WOULD GO AWAY IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. HOWEVER, THIS WEEK WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH THE JEEP STALLED. THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY FROM 3/4 FULL, AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION ON THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE FAR SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TOOK THE KEY OUT AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE FULL GUAGE WENT BACK UP TO 3/4 FULL AND I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM....THEY SAID THE VEHICLE IS FINE. THE RESET THE COMPUTER SO THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. THE NEXT DAY AFTER BRINGING IT HOME FROM THE DEALER, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I AM BRINGING IT BACK IN NEXT WEEK. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY AS I FULLY EXPECT THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I SAW AN ARTICLE THAT YOU WERE CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS PROBLEM, AND WANTED TO ADD MY NAME TO THE LIST AS THIS STALLING PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
