Owner Complaints (82)
Your 2015 Hyundai Tucson's 2.4L engine developed a loud knocking sound while driving, which worsened over time and made the vehicle unsafe to operate due to risk of sudden engine failure. You've had the vehicle at a dealership for over a month, and they've diagnosed severe engine failure requiring a complete engine replacement at an estimated cost of $10,000. The dealership denied your warranty claim, stating a component other than the connecting rod bearing failed, though your symptoms match the known Theta II engine defect pattern affecting many Hyundai vehicles. Addressing this will likely require a complete engine replacement or rebuild to prevent potential loss of power, steering, and braking control while driving.

Your engine failed without warning while your husband was driving on a narrow highway offramp under construction, creating a serious safety risk in heavy traffic. The dealership discovered 5 outstanding recalls on the vehicle, including one engine-related recall (#966) that should have been completed before you purchased the car but wasn't. Hyundai Corporate has refused to replace the engine, claiming the previous dealer or owner should have handled the recall repair. Resolving this will likely require negotiating with Hyundai Corporate or pursuing legal action to determine warranty coverage and responsibility for the uncompleted recall.

While driving on the interstate, your car suddenly lost power and shut off completely without warning. After adding oil, the engine started but the check engine light came on. The engine appeared to have failed despite regular maintenance at Hyundai dealerships, and you had to be towed back to town. The repair likely involves engine diagnostics and possible engine replacement or major internal repairs.

Your engine's crankshaft suddenly seized while you were driving 55 mph on the highway with no warning lights beforehand. The failure caused significant damage, creating a large hole in the engine block. You had to coast to the shoulder and the vehicle was towed over 60 miles for repair. The dealership replaced the engine under warranty, though the cause of the sudden failure wasn't documented in your maintenance records.

Your engine seized suddenly while driving on the expressway at 63,664 miles, causing your car to stop without warning. You noticed a smoke smell and all dashboard warning lights appeared at once with no prior alerts. Both a repair shop and the dealer confirmed the engine was seized, and you discovered your vehicle is subject to a recall for known manufacturing issues with this engine model. Repairs will likely involve engine replacement or complete engine rebuild.

Your engine seized while driving on a California highway, leaving you stranded in the far left lane with no warning lights or messages beforehand. The shop confirmed your engine had completely run out of oil despite an oil change just 6,000 miles prior, which caused catastrophic engine damage requiring a full engine replacement. Hyundai is denying warranty coverage because you're missing oil change records from 2 of the past 9 years, even though you've provided 7 years of records including the last 4 years of consistent maintenance.

Your check engine light flashed and your car entered limp mode on the freeway, reducing power and limiting speed. A mechanic found metal debris in your oil, which your Hyundai dealer identified as likely piston and rod bearing wear — a known issue with this engine model. After a bearing clearance test passed, the dealer replaced your knock sensor, but the problem returned a week later with rattling from the engine block and smoke from the dipstick tube. Diagnosing and fixing this will likely require engine internal inspection or replacement.

Your engine is displaying a P1326 trouble code and the check engine light is flashing. You're hearing knocking noises when you accelerate, and the engine seems reluctant to accelerate—it feels like it might stall or shut off. The oil level appears low. These symptoms together suggest a serious engine problem that needs immediate attention.

Your engine failed at 86,000 miles and Hyundai replaced it under warranty. However, the replacement engine started knocking and stopped working about a year later, even though you followed all recommended maintenance including regular oil changes and careful driving. This suggests a potential defect with Hyundai's engines rather than an issue with how the vehicle was maintained. The repair will likely involve another engine replacement or extensive internal engine work.

Your engine is consuming oil faster than normal — after 3 years, it was 2.5 quarts low. Hyundai's service recommended repeated oil changes and shorter service intervals (3,000 miles instead of 5,000) rather than fixing the underlying problem. A diagnostic showed a knock sensor fault code, which can indicate worn engine bearings or sensor issues, and your engine model is known for clogged oil passages that prevent proper lubrication. The fix would likely involve either replacing the knock sensor and checking the wiring, deep cleaning the oil system, or potentially engine repair if bearing wear is confirmed.

Your engine is burning oil faster than normal, requiring you to top off the oil level about once a month. This problem started approximately a year ago. The issue may require inspection of the engine's internal seals or gaskets to identify where the oil is being lost.

Your engine is making a loud ticking sound and your check engine light is flashing. This typically indicates an engine problem that needs immediate attention. The issue could involve fuel delivery, ignition timing, or internal engine components, and you should have it diagnosed with a scan tool to read the fault codes.

I went to get my car looked at a couple months ago and was told the oil pan was leaking . So the day I get it changed the car shuts off while I’m driving ; I began to loose acceleration, the oil light starts to flash , the engine light is flickering while the car is shaking making a knocking noise .
I have a 15 Hyundai Tucson that has been shutting off on me while driving on a highway going between 55 mph to 70 mph. Engine went into limp mode, CEL is on and flashing. Knocking noise heard from engine and consuming oil. Diagnosed with P1326 code. Brought to local Hyundai dealership. Even though road test stated normal operation, technician notes that vehicle DID stall, shut off, on return to the shop. No codes. Was told Hyundai would not pay for man hours to look into further. So allowed me to drive off their lot. Upon re-search I found, with NO help from local Hyundai or the dealership I purchased vehicle from, that my VIN number is associated with the E2 class action settlement that just went live May 2023, that my engine is indeed infected, like a cough before the cold, and has the potential of starting on fire/failure. Now I purchase this vehicle in 08/2023 with no disclosure of this very concerning problem. I am told by Hyundai USA that there is a paper trail that every affected VIN in the settlement has been notified, by law, to owners of affected VIN’s, and still not disclosed. I reached out to Hyundai USA at the national level, was given a case manager, who sent my case to the buyback/legal department. My case manager reached out and stated that my case has been denied due to age and mileage of vehicle (even though automatically extended to 15yr/150,000 miles) I asked what my next steps should be as my vehicle is still shutting off on me while driving and was told to have a different Hyundai dealership diagnose vehicle, but to not tell them all of the information of it already going to one Hyundai dealership. I was told if I hear a noise from the engine that I should pull off to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. I said so Hyundai USA feels good allowing this vehicle to be operated on highways knowing the symptoms I am experiencing. They obviously do not care for my safety let alone passenger safety, nor other motorist on roads.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while driving uphill. Additionally, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. While driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The engine had been replaced. The vehicle continued to hesitate while driving uphill. The check engine warning light was illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Bought vehicle from dealership and 20 days later my car shut off as I was driving. Spoke to dealer they had me bring to her mechanic that she use since it was going to be in the shop dealer agreed to put new pads and rotors on. Picked up vehicle, ask them about the problem. They told me that it was all good and that they just cleaned up the mass air sensor that was dirty. Brought vehicle home. Mid of Oct driving down highway/55 mph vehicle shut off again on me this time it went into limp mode. Call dealership back and she wanted me to drive it to shop. I stated I’d did not feel comfortable driving it 45 miles in limp mode. Local shop Looked at it discussed with dealership. I finally spoke to the shop they gave me the information of the codes. Dealership texted me not phone call told me all about the code It was pulling and recommended that I take it to a Hyundai dealership as there is a service campaign on the vehicle. Dealership sent bank a copy of the service campaign. It states as required by federal law dealers must not place vehicle into customers use until campaign and all open recalls performed on vehicle. Campaign states it is a safety action. Campaign also states Q&A on the campaign. Hyundai strongly encourages customers to get this fixed. Also states what will happen if the wear in the engine bearings are malfunctioning. Also states that dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the engine. this is the second time vehicle has shut off while I was driving on Wisconsin highways. I have informed dealership that it was the second time that it has done this and that it was unsafe. Then I find out that the first shop I took it to that works with the dealership put in a used transmission a new Cadillac converter days before my purchase, and neither in person prior to signing purchase agreement nor on the Wisconsin buyers guide does it show that this dealership replaced anything into this car. I have only driven 1400 miles. I spoke with dealer, she won’t help!
I was drive home one night and the car cut off while I was driving I costed into a gas station good thing there was no other cars on the road. I call for a tow truck. The mechanic said it was a bad starter at first. A new starter was place in the car it started for 15 minutes and shut of they checked the starter it was working and that when I told me it was the engine. A very bad internal.engine problem
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that after reaching 100,000 miles, the vehicle started consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. Upon observing oil consumption, the contact stated that he had to add 1-quart of engine oil every 700 miles. The contact stated that previously the vehicle was receiving an oil change every 5,000 miles. The low oil warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic suggested that oil be added every two weeks due to the excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Oil burns it uses alot of oil like if it was leaking oil consumption

2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS DENIED DUE TO MAINTENANCE NEGLECT BASED ON FAILING TO PERFORM OIL CHANGES.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the solenoid was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the knock sensor was replaced. In addition, the vehicle lost motive power, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed as needing the knock sensor replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,500.
Driving on a 2 lane highway, engine shut off and left us stranded 2 hours from home. After the car being at the Hyundai dealer for a week, we get a text saying the engine had catastrophic failure. Internal bearing failure. Waiting to see if Hyundai with cover under 10yr/100,000 mile warranty. No light or anything came on prior to failure.
Even with have oil changes regularly and just about 2,000 miles ago *synthetic oil* the car started making very weird noises when accelerating and randomly having the oil light pop up. As I drove down the highway, with the pedal to the floor it would not speed up, the car then completely died and would not turn on. After having it towed and inspected they declared the engine was done and could not be fixed. They then informed me that because this issue is SO common it makes it extremely hard and expensive to find a replacement engine.
I was driving on the highway about 5 minutes away from home when I was avoid a reckless driver. (I called and reported it to the State police) Once I was trying to switch lanes my engine seized up in the middle of the highway. I keep up with the maintenance so I have no idea why it would do that. After getting towed and bringing it to the nearest dealership I was told my engine seized up and now I need to bring it to a Hyundai dealership to get it inspected before receiving service. I wont rice service until August 31st. This all new to me because my car fall in the recall of the many Hyundai's. How can I get rid of my vehicle as a second owner who bought t from a dealership? I don't feel comfortable or safe driving a vehicle like that.
Engine seized and needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 35 MPH and began to jerk and shake. The contact pulled off of the highway as the engine seized. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with rod bearing failure. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
While driving the vehicle suddenly went into a limp mode and had a flashing check engine light. The vehicle was in limp mode for approximately a half mile prior to having complete engine failure and shutting off completely. Vehicle has always been properly maintained. Dealer confirmed engine is seized. A manufacturing defect with the Theta II engine caused the premature engine failure. If this occurred on a major highway myself and other motorists would be put at a significant risk as there was limited time to act and find a safe place to roll to a stop.
My engine just started making a really loud noise and I lost all power to it
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the engine was seized. The contact was unaware if any warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and the mechanic retrieved fault codes: P0014, P0300, P0301, and P0441. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,051.
As part of Hyundai's class action lawsuit settlement, Hyundai promised to fix defective engines reporting the P136 error code and provide alternative transportation until the vehicle's defective engine is fixed. Instead I am without a car because Hyundai corporate claims they are "too busy" to fix it. For three weeks, Hyundai corporate has known that the engine of my 2015 Hyundai Tucson has reported the P1326 error code, and has been sitting at Key Hyundai at 4660 Southside BLVD; Jacksonville, Florida. Hyundai has refused to provide us with a loaner car, or authorize us to get a rental car, as required under the class action settlement, under the basis that the inspection has not yet been performed on the vehicle. When we asked for them to help find another dealership to inspect the vehicle, or any other assistance they could provide with alternative transportation, they refused. Hyundai assigned us a case manager, Ricardo (case number 19759747), who has repeatedly lied to us, and refuses to return our calls. For example, he claimed that he called the dealership to try to help us, even though the dealership reported no such call in their records and Hyundai confirmed that they did not have this call in their records. Hyundai refuses to assign anyone else to help with this matter. We have been calling Hyundai almost every day for three weeks and they have provided no assistance whatsoever. The constant theme has been to "sit and wait". I am requesting your office to help so that other Americans are not victimized by Hyundai. Hyundai promised to make the victims of their defective engines whole, and yet instead have vehicles subject to the class action lawsuit sitting around for weeks, and refuse to provide any assistance whatsoever with alternative transportation. Americans could lose their jobs and be forced into financial insolvency because of Hyundai not honoring their settlement agreement.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. There was an abnormal odor of smoke detected. The contact exited the vehicle through the window. The contact stated that ten of the air bags were deployed. There was water damage due to a storm. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and informed there was water damage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-55 MPH, he heard abnormal sounds coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under an unknown recall as the VIN was not included. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where it was diagnosed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The independent mechanic advised the contact to bring the vehicle back after 1,000 miles. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where the failure was diagnosed as an engine combustion failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
1. The engine lost oil without giving any warning. 2. Vehicle stopped in traffic and could not restart. 3. Yes (an independent service center). 4. Yes (others) the oil pump in the engine stopped working). 5. No warning light.
While driving down an interstate I accelerated to pass a semi truck. Immediately after passing the truck I took an exit and about halfway off the ramp my car lost all power...no noises or notifications. Had to coast to side of road. Once car was off thr road the engine light oil light and battery light were all lit. I bought a new battery and it did not fix my car. I had a mechanic look at my car and they believe the engine siezed up. The dealership said there is 3 recalls now on my car but engine is not one of them though is probably should be. Was told it would take 3-4 months to get my car in due so many needing repaired. I do not understand how this hasn't been recalled yet. I had my 1 yr old and 2 yr old in the car with me. If my car had quit just 10 seconds earlier we would have likely died. This is not ok for them to keep selling these cars with engine problems. Someone needs to open a lawsuit against hyundai.
My husband had taken my vehicle to work one day. He called me and told me that the car had shut off and wouldn’t restart. He had just turned onto a major highway and was able to pull off to the side of the road. We thought it might have been the key fob, so I brought the other fob with me. Still nothing. The brakes were stiff and the dash would light up, but the engine wouldn’t turn over. We had the car towed back to our home. We replaced the battery and starter, and after doing research, have come to the conclusion there is something in the engine that is causing the engine to not turn over. We believe we’ve narrowed it to the timing chain. Our next step is to take it to the dealership and have it evaluated, but possibly looking to upgrade.
After inspection by the mechanic it was determined that the engine seized. The vehicle is currently at the garage and is available. At the time the engine seized we were on the highway with a speed limit of 70 mph. The vehicle shut off but luckily I was able to pull over safely onto the shoulder. I had my entire family in the vehicle so I definitely feel our safety was at risk. The vehicle has only been inspected by my mechanic. The oil was changed less than two months ago and was changed at regular intervals. There was no warning lights or messages prior to the vehicle losing power. Once it lost power the oil light and engine light came on.
Our 2015 Tucson has the G4NC DOHC GDI engine, which unfortunately isn’t listed in any current engine settlement as of the writing of this complaint. Our engine started to rev at considerably high rpms while driving up hill, followed by a subsequent loss of power and speed. We managed to make it to the top of the hill and pull over, traversing over multiple lanes in front of on-coming semi trucks and other fast moving traffic with our hazards on. Upon pulling over, our engine died. There were no red or amber warning/caution lights on the dash, nor did the check engine light illuminate during the incident. After a few attempts at restarting the engine, we finally got it started and drove it home and brought it to the dealer the next day. They diagnosed it as a “clogged catalytic converter.” Although seemingly a secondary issue, and no further information as to what actually caused the clog in the vehicle inspection report, we reluctantly dished out the $3,200 for the repair of the vehicle we so desperately needed for work. They also installed a “knock-sensor” update. A couple months later… When driving the vehicle to work, the check engine light illuminates and flashes on and off continually. After pulling the vehicle over to a stop and consulting a Hyundai mechanic, I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership for diagnostics. Turns out the knock sensor update is what caused the engine light to illuminate to “prevent severe engine damage,” and I’m left with a large bill for engine repairs. Will the G4NC engine be investigated by the NHTSA? Will Hyundai honor my drive train warranty? Will Hyundai Corporate ever call me back? Tune in next week…
Driving down the street and the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of the roadway. Vehicle would not restart. Engine oil leaking out of tail pipe was noticed when vehicle was being placed on tow truck. Towed to Hyundai. They say seized engine and not covered under warranty due to low oil. No lights came on dash to include low oil or check engine. Only 66,000 miles. Oil last changed less than 4,000 miles. If there was no oil then how is it possible oil leaking from tail pipe. Looked at similar complaints. Appears rods and bearings are braking in these motors. 55 mph road when car suddenly shut off. Could have seriously injured driver. Could have caused serious accident. Hyundai does not stand by their product and warranty.
My engine ceased while driving, leaving me stranded on the road. I had it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer that was supposed to do any warranty repairs. Prior to this, I was needing to replace the oil, about 1 quart per week. I did my routine service maintenance and they tried replacing a seal or gasket but that did not stop the problem from reoccurring. When the car was brought to the dealer, the oil was low but there still was some oil in the engine. My engine light never came on to warn me about any issues. The car was sluggish and sputter which was when I would check the oil and put more oil in. I know there was a lawsuit which was settled with engine problems for the same make, year and model as mine but I have not received any recall notice for engine problems for my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, she noticed that the check engine warning light was illuminated. A few days later the contact was driving to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic when the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The contact was able to get the vehicle to restart and get the vehicle slowly into a neighborhood where the vehicle stalled again. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
My car Tucson is 2015 model. Since early 2018, RPM has risen while driving, cars have been shaken, and engine check lights have continued to come in. When I went to the car repair shop and checked, my car said it was an engine piston defect. And engine oil also disappears 500 to 1,000 miles after replenishment. So I have to make up for it regularly. I'm very nervous about the car, so I have to turn on the engine before departure and leave after 5 minutes, and I have a lot of inconvenience due to this and that problems. I want to know more about what my car is like and I desperately need your help.
On April 16, 2021 my husband was driving our 2015 Hyundai Tucson home from work at 10:30pm. Upon entering Interstate 77 S the Tucson suddenly came to a complete stop. He was able to get it off the side of the interstate. There were no dash lights that came on or noises to give warning this was about to happen. We had not had any issues with the vehicle till then. We had the Tucson towed to the car lot where we had purchased it on 12.26.2020. This could have caused accidents that could have harmed not only my husband but others traveling that interstate that night. Other than the mechanics that replaced the engine and an individual from Warranty Solutions no one else inspected the blown engine. We spent $6948.55 for a rebuilt engine and labor. We were without our vehicle from 04.16.2021 until 08.28.2021. Hyundai had a recall on engine components but for some reason ours was NOT included. I strongly feel it should have been. Not only did this failure put my husband in danger but also anyone traveling that interstate that night.
At 40,000 miles with no warning engine stalled while driving Upon inspection by dealership Bore Scope Scarring on all cyl walls predominate on 1 and 2 rf suspects lower engine issue Oil change records were provided
I purchased this vehicle after it had been leased. I purchased it with 48K miles in December 2018. I have maintained the vehicle, per the manufacturer's guidelines. In July 2021,at 69K miles, a high-pitched whirring sound came from engine when gas was applied. The noise did not occur when vehicle is in idle. The noise came suddenly when I was accelerating getting on a highway (on ramp). I took to my trusted mechanic immediately and they haven't been able to diagnose the issue at this time. However, they found busted metal pieces in the pan and have ruled out more common issues, like serpentine belt, timing belts, and exhaust. My mechanic was so far into the engine trying to find the clearly broken part (or parts), that it will be more cost effective to just replace the engine. I contacted my local Hyundai dealership, and they ignored my emails (until this point). A safety concern is that the car could still be driven, even though there was clearly something wrong with the engine. There were no warning lights of any kind in the dash, before or after the engine sound came on. Also, a qualified mechanic could not find/replace the broken part, and Hyundai is ignoring my engine issue requests. I also contacted Hyundai USA and am waiting for a response. The vehicle's engine, if defective, is out of warranty because I am second owner. The second owner warranty only lasts to 60K miles.
Engine failure. I changed car oil and filter every 3,000 miles. A strong noise came from the engine and Pep Boys mechanic say I needs oil. I changed oil ,drove one mile and the car stop.
Engine seized, yes available for inspection, no prior warning lamps, messages or symptoms, car just stopped. Fortunately this happened on a backroad and not on interstate 95 between home and school. Manufacture said they would not help, seized engine determined by mechanic, no oil. Car maintained as recommended by manufacturer. I'm now finding out this is a common problem with this make and model, it burns oil and engines seize. Who allows cars to be on the road that seize up!!!
The vehicle suddenly reduced power on 05/27/2021 while my 82-year old mother was driving home. When I checked the car, the check engine light was blinking. I Immediately took to a service center and noticed the same low power 'limping' performance and a knocking sound (previously unheard). On Friday, 05/28/2021, the service manager provided an update: that they found Diagnostic trouble code p1326 related to engine inspection. Performed oil change. Cleared the diagnostic code. Ran the engine. Could hear an internal knock at higher RPMs. Will need engine replaced or rebuilt. No parts are available to replace or rebuild at this time. They contacted Hyundai with the VIN who said the vehicle was out of warranty (110,000 miles). Drove the vehicle home (two blocks) at low RPMs with no issue. There was no previous indication there was any potential issue with the engine. Maintenance and oil changes have been completed on a regular basis. There were 600+ miles before the next 5,000-mile oil change was due. Drove the car the next morning, Saturday, 05/29/2021, to see about trading the car in at the local Hyundai dealer (5.1 miles away) before the situation got worse and purchase a new vehicle. I was expecting the car would be drivable - at least at lower RPMs. The car immediately began to lose power, the check engine light began blinking and stalled three times in traffic before crawling onto the dealer's lot. They had a mechanic look at the vehicle, said the engine was shot and offered $250 as all they could do was junk it since engine parts were scarce and it would not be cost-effective to replace the engine even though the body was in good shape. I felt I had no choice but to accept as it was now clear the vehicle was unsafe to drive. For the engine to die within about 15 miles of the initial onset without warning and the sudden loss of power, is a dangerous situation is this is waiting to happen to other vehicles.
I was driving down the road when suddenly the car started rattling. The oil light blinked on then off. The engine then made a squealing noise, the battery light came on, and then the engine froze. The accelerator pedal and the steering wheel were stuck. I turned the car off, but it wouldn’t restart. Thankfully, I was on a quiet neighborhood street and not in the middle of a busy highway when this happened. I had it towed to the dealer, who inspected it and stated that I needed to have the entire engine replaced. I then had it towed to another dealer for a second opinion, but they also said the engine needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, since I am not the original owner, Hyundai claims the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty does not apply, even though the car only has 85k miles.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH DURING 5:15 RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THERE WAS NO COMBUSTION, BUT THE BATTERY WAS STILL WORKING. WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE ENGINE HAD LOST COMPRESSION AND COMBUSTION AND NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THE CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
ACCORDING TO AN ATTORNEY MU ENGINE IS A NU ENGINE. AS FAR AS I KNOW NO RECALLS OR LAWSUITS ARE PENDING. CAR WAS DRIVING FINE, LOST ALL POWER TO A VERY SLOW CREEP, MAKING A VERY STRANGE SOUND IN ENGINE, FRIED STARTER AND NOW WON'T WORK AT ALL. EVERYTHING PEOPLE SAY THE THETA II ENGINE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN WE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THIS CAR...BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. WE HAVE NOTICED EXTRA OIL CONSUMPTION BUT FIGURED DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE. WE HAD A MECHANIC COME OUT AND HE SAID THE THINKS THE ENGINE IS FRIED OR THERE IS SERIOUS PROBLEMS. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. THIS ALL DURING COVID, MY HUSBAND IS HIGH RISK WE HAD TO GO BUY ANOTHER CAR AS WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO FIX. I NOW HAVE 2 HEFTY CAR PAYMENTS WITH 1 VEHICLE WORKING. I NEED HELP TO KNOW IF THIS ENGINE DISPLAYING ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS WILL TOO BE RECALLED .
MY CAR IS CONSUMING OIL - APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART PER EVERY 300 - 500 MILES. A REPAIR SHOP SAID THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I HAVE PAID OVER $500 SO FAR (REPLACED GUAGES, SPARK PLUGS, AND MORE) - I HAVE COMPLETED THREE OIL CONSUMPTION REPORTS (THE DEALERSHIP IS CHECKING THE OIL)- AND THE DEALER KEEPS SAYING THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I KNOW SO LITTLE ABOUT CARS AND ENGINES, BUT FEEL I AM GETTING CHEATED. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AT ONLY 47,000 MILES! WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN TELL I WAS LOOSING POWER, I HEARD A "KNOCKING" SOUND SO I PULLED OVER AND ALL OF MY LIGHTS COME ON MY DASH AND THE CAR IS DEAD! SO GLAD I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY! I HAD IT TOWED AND THE MECHANIC AND HA HAS CONFIRMED THAT IT IS A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE - I NEED A NEW ENGINE. CALLED THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID I'M OUT OF WARRANTY (5 YEARS / 60,000 MILES). I WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IF THIS HAPPENED A MONTH EARLIER. LOOKS LIKE I GOT TO PUSH THIS UP HILL. I'LL NEVER BUY HYUNDAI AGAIN AND I SWEAR TO TELL THIS STORY TO THE END OF MY DAYS!
ENGINE SEIZURE AND SHAKING. OIL LEAK. PREMATURE WEARING ON ENGINE BEARINGS.
ENGINE SUDDENLY FAILED. STARTING ALL WITH A RATTLING SOUND ONE NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. THR NEXT DAY, DROPPED MY CHILD OFF AND CAR JUST CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN MY APARTMENT LOT. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS WHEN IT JUST SHUT OFF.
ENGINE KNOCK .. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSE THAT NUMBER 1 PISTON STARVING FOR OIL AND ENGINE NEEDS TO TO REPLACED AND THE EXTREME DAMAGED COULD OF CAUSED A FIRE AND KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY IF I DIDN'T SHUT OFF WHEN I DID
WHILE DRIVING TO THE STORE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, IT STARTED TO RATTLE LOUDER AND LOUDER. I WAS DRIVING 40MPH AND PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION WHERE THE ENGINE NOISE GOT WORST THE ENGINE LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED, CALLED AAA AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHICH WAS 7 MILES AWAY, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THAT HE HAS BEEN COMING ACROSS A FEW OF THESE HYUNDAI'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ENGINE FAILURE.
ON NOV. 4 2020 AT 2PM, WHILE DRIVING ON F8 EAST FREEWAY ENTERING THE TURN ONTO CA125, MY 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON'S ENGINE BLEW WITHOUT WARNING. THE DASH LIGHTS LIT AS THE CAR LOST POWER THE HOOD BLEW OPEN AND SHUT AND MY 31YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS FORCED TO ALLOW THE CAR TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. IN A DANGEROUS SPOT. .SHE COULD NOT SEE IN FRONT OF THE CAR UNTIL THE HOOD FELL BACK DOWN. THE DANGER IS THE FACT THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS WARNINGS, THE HOOD BLEW UP AND THE CAR HAD STOPPED WHERE THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT SPACE FOR OTHER CARS TO PASS WITHOUT TAPPING MY SIDE MIRROR AND A HUGE TRAIL OF OIL LEFT BEHIND. SHE GOT OVER TO THE PASSENGER SEAT QUICKLY AND ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS SINCE IT WAS HOT OUT. FIRST SHE CALLED EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY. THEY TOOK OVER 2 HRS TO ARRIVE .WHILE MANY CARS DROVE QUICKLY BY BARELY MISSING MY CAR. SHE CALLED ME NEXT IN FEAR OF HER LIFE AND THEN CALLED HER DAD AND HE STAYED ON THE PHONE WITH HER UNTIL THE TOW ARRIVED .I ONLY HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 1 YEAR. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON JUNE 23, 2020 FROM REG OIL TO A SYNTHETIC BLEND. UPON CALLING HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE IT WAS SUGGESTED TO TOW THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF ITS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE ENGINE IS SEVERELY DAMAGED THE BEARINGS WERE DESTROYED AND A ROD THROWN. THE OIL FILTER WAS BLOWN OFF. MY CAR HAD NO PREVIOUS LEAKS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI/KIA FOR MY CARS YEAR BUT WITH THETA 1 AND !! ENGINES. MINE IS A GASOLINE DIRECT ENGINE THAT ALSO HAS PROBLEMS PER CAR COMPLAINTS.COM. WHAT ALSO MAKES THIS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS IS THAT I USE THIS CAR FREQUENTLY TO TRANSPORT MY 11YR OLD DISABLED GRANDSON TO RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL APPTS SINCE HE HAS CEREBRAL PALSY AND POOR HEAD AND NECK CONTROL. SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAVE NOT ONLY SNAPPED HIS NECK BUT ALSO CAUSE MASSIVE FATALITIES ON THE FREEWAY..
MY CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING. NO WARNING LIGHTS. NO NOISE FROM ENGINE. I WAS DRIVING HOME I LOOMED UP PROBLEM ON INTERNET AND FOUND MANY ISSUES LIKE MINE WHICH RESULTED IN RECALLS FOR SOME. MY CAR YEAR WAS MENTIONED BUT MY VIN CAME UP CLEAN I THINK A RECALL IS IN ORDER
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OIL FILTER HAS BLOWN OUT LEAVING ME WITH NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. MOST RECENTLY, IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT APROX. 37 MPH ON A STATE ROAD. I AM UNCERTAIN THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WHERE I LOST ALL OF THE ENGINE OIL BUT I WOULD HAZARD TO GUESS THE SYSTEM WHICH CONTROLS OIL PRESSURE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE PRESSURE GET SO HIGH FOR THE INCREASED RPM NEEDS IT BLOWES OUT THE WEAKEST POINT.

IN AROUND AUGUST 2018, I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON GLS BACK FROM WORK ON A HIGH WAY. THAT ALL (FOR NO REASON) THE INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP, THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND COME TO A HALT. I TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THE MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN DONE SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE. IT WAS CHECKED AND REPORTED AS A DAMAGE TO THE OIL PAN. BUT, THEY SAID IT HAS HIT A STATIONARY OBJECT (THIS WAS A LIE) BUT THERE WAS NO STATIONARY OBJECT ON THE HIGHWAY AS MANY VEHICLE WERE GOING BY. I WAS ON THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE FAST LANE. BECAUSE I DID NOT AGREE WITH THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE, I KNEW AN OBJECT HAS BROKEN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE AND STRIKE IT WAY OUT OF THE OIL PAN. MILEAGE DURING THE INCIDENT WAS AT 73,437. I THINK THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALL FOR THIS MANY REPORTED OBJECT DAMAGING THE OIL PAN. MY INSURANCE HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW REPLACE ENGINE BUT TO END UP WITH A USED ENGINE CHARGE $4500. A PICTURE (DOCUMENT) UPLOADED WILL SHOW EXIT DAMAGE FROM THE BROKEN METAL FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE CONTACT SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE STALLED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A LEASE RETURN AT 36K MILES. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR ALL THE RECOMMENDED SERVICES AND ALSO THE OIL CHANGES AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE AT ALL TILL NOW. AT JUST OVER 70K MILES I WAS DRIVING AT 75MPH AND THE ENGINE LURCHED AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE FASTEST I COULD GO WAS 60MPH. THE ENGINE HAD A WICKED KNOCKING SOUND. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SO I TOOK IT THERE. THEY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THANKFULLY I HAVE THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE & POWERTRAIN UP TO 100K, SO HYUNDAI IS EATING THE COST. BUT IT IS STILL WILDLY CONCERNING TO ME! I'LL FOR SURE BE SELLING THIS CAR BEFORE IT HITS THE 100K WARRANTY.
I'VE DONE MY REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE I'VE PURCHASED. DROVE TO TWO PLACES TODAY, AFTER SECOND PLACE ON START UP OIL LIGHT CAME ON WITH VERY LOUD ENGINE KNOCKING. CHECKED MY OIL TO FIND NONE ON THE DIPSTICK, FILLED BACK UP WITH RECOMMENDED OIL AND SOME OF THE NOISE WENT AWAY. STILL HAS VERY PROFOUND KNOCKING NOISES IN THE ENGINE BLOCK WITH LACK OF POWER. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH 44,500 MILES NOW HAS 50,500. SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE AT THIS MILEAGE AT ALL. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT WILL BE DONE. THIS VEHICLE HAS COMMON PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE.
MY PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH OTHER DRIVERS. I WAS DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT WHEN I TURNED A CORNER AND THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN DIED. NO WARNING SIGNALS CAME ON. NO LEAKING FLUIDS. VEHICLE WOULDN'T START UP ANYMORE. BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND STILL UNABLE TO START THE CAR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TESTED THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND NEITHER ONE WAS THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A LOCKED UP MOTOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO.
ON JULY 12, 2019, I WAS DRIVING TO MY HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 10:00 IN THE EVENING. I WAS APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES FROM MY HOUSE WHEN MY ENGINE SEIZED AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION. I AM VERY GRATEFUL THAT, THANKS TO MY FATHER AND A GOOD SAMARITAN, I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE STREET AND I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD BY AN AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI MECHANIC THAT MY ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CONSIDERING THE CAR ONLY HAS 86,000 MILES AND ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AND NO MECHANIC HAS EVER SAID THIS WAS A POTENTIAL ISSUE BEFORE, I FIND THIS TO BE UNACCEPTABLE.
2015 HYUNDAI TUSCON 2.0 ORIGINAL OWNER WITH 70,000 MILES, ENGINE IS BURNING THROUGH 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 500 MILES, RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THE THETA 2 MANUFACTURING PROBLEM IS THE CULPRIT AS WAS THE CASE WITH SONATA RECALLS. GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DEMAND A NEW ENGINE AS THIS IS THOROUGHLY DOCUMENTED WITH ALL THETA 2 ENGINES DURING THIS TIME FRAME
THE IDLE COMPONENT ON THE ENGINE SPUTTERS. IT'S BEEN SPUTTERING SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT. I MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING, BUT THE SPUTTERING IS GETTING WORSE AND AS THE CAR SITS IDLING WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKES OR IN PARKED OUT NEUTRAL IT'S SPUTTERS LIKE IT'S GOING TO CUT OFF.
THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY VEHICLE IS THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS AT ALL. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NO OIL LIGHTS, OR ANY SENSORS THAT POPPED UP FOR THAT ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WITH THIS ENGINE. I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED HIM WITH A ENGINE PROBLEM AND SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD IT THEN TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK WITHOUT GIVING ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. I CANNOT RECEIVE A LOANER CAR BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MY AFTERMARKET WARRANTY IS STILL TRYING TO INVESTIGATE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE AND NO ONE ELSE IS HELPING ME. I'VE BEEN OUT OF WORK NOW FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS WITH NO VEHICLE NO EXPLANATION, BUT YET THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET ABOUT THE ENGINE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS NO ENGINE AVAILABLE ANYWHERE FOR THIS VEHICLE PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN ISSUE. THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER IT PIECE BY PIECE IF THE WARRANTY WILL COVER IT. I PERSONALLY THINK THERE SHOULD BE AN INSPECTION ON THESE ENGINES AND A RECALL DONE BECAUSE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS AT THE MARKET. I HAVE READ OVER 30 DIFFERENT COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENGINE JUST DYING AND SEIZING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, WHITE SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, OUR OIL LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC HE SAID THE ISSUE WAS ACTUALLY THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC TOWED IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WITHOUT ANY PRIOR INDICATION OF ERROR, OR ANY SENSOR READING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND THE RPMS INCREASED. I SLOWED DOWN A BIT, AND CONTINUED DRIVING. THE ENGINE THIS SEIZED COMPLETELY AND DIED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FOR HELP, BUT THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BEFORE IT BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERITAGE HYUNDAI TOWSON (801 YORK RD, TOWSON, MD 21204, 877-387-5495) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CLAIM NUMBER: 11286287. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, IN THE "ECO" MODE. I TURNED LEFT, AND THE VEHICLE PAUSED FORWARD MOTION, UNTIL I PUMPED THE GAS PEDAL 2 OR 3 TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEH. IN 2016, WITH 16,000 + OR - MILES ON THE ODO. WHEN I TURN OFF THE "ECO" MODE, THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS, THOUGH NOT AS OFTEN. I LEFT THE CAR AT VANDERGRIFF HYUNDAI FOR A DAY WITH N.P.F.
2015 TUCSON ENGINE BLEW AFTER ONLY 70,000 MILES. IT DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF FAILURE BUT AS I WAS DRIVING THE ENGINE MADE A BANG NOISE AND JUST STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER I DID SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TUCSON TO HAVE ENGINE FAILURE AFTER 70,000 MILES.
ENTIRE MUFFLER PIPES AND CATALATER CONVERTER FELL OFF CAR IN ONE PIECE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND PULLED BUMPER OUT OF ALIGNMENT WHEN IT CAME DOWN. THANKFULLY WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. HEARD A LOUD BANG AND EMEDIATLY FELT AND HEARD A CHANGE IN ENGINE. IT WAS TERRIFYING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, A RACCOON ENTERED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND ATE THE INSULATION. TAYLOR HYUNDAI OF PERRYSBURG (12681 ECKEL JUNCTION RD, PERRYSBURG, OH) WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADMITTED THAT THEY USED A SOY-BASED COMPOUND FOR THE INSULATION. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
