2020 Honda Odyssey Collision Avoidance Problems

The front-facing camera stopped working, and all associated ADAS systems no longer functioned (Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance). Several errors needed to be cleared every time the vehicle was started.

the front monocular camera is defective causing the safety features (adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane shift warning, auto brights, auto braking) to not function at all. This seems to be a known issue with many honda owners. The warnings show every time I start the van.

My Multi-Purpose Camera System has gone bad after only 5 years. Collision mitigation, cruise control, brake system, lane keep assist, among other safety features are failing because of this.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety defect involving my Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda Sensing technology. During normal operation and without any accident, impact, windshield damage, repair, or environmental event, all Honda Sensing safety systems suddenly and simultaneously stopped working.

Upon start up my 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L throws a slew of pop-up’s on the dash (collision mitigation problem, auto high beam problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane keep assist problem, road departure mitigation problem). It's been doing this for months, but when it started, I had just gotten an oil change 2 weeks prior and knew my mechanic would've caught this if it was something major.

In December, out of the blue suddenly had rotating list of warning on dash panel (Lane Keeping Assist problem, Collision mitigation system, departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, Adaptive cruise control problem) plus Brake Warning system light is on constantly and brake hold not working. At first this was intermittent but now on constantly when starting and driving car.

Several warnings lights appeared on the dash at the same time regarding the accident safety features including: Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assistance. None are currently working. The warning randomly appeared.

All warning lights came on for Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assistance.Based on my research, it seems the forward facing camera has failed. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it and it is only 5 years old.

Windshield monocular camera has became faulty. No longer have adaptive cruise control, lane departure, forward collision braking. Looks like about a $1,500 expense to fix.

On Sunday 9/28/2025 I started up my vehicle and received numerous error messages: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Brake system light I contacted the dealership in which I purchased the vehicle and they did diagnostics. It came back that the front facing camera needs to be replaced.

The camera sensor is malfunctioning. It is affecting the collision sensor and lane assist sensor. Also adaptive cruise control, road mitigation and auto high beams.

The front multipurpose camera has failed “due to internal failure” according to the service tech at local Honda dealer. The camera functions - lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, and auto High beam lights, have not functioned for the past month.

When turning on vehicle the attached picture’s warning lights show on dashboard. Unable to reset them. Vehicles collision sensor not engaged when driving.

For the past couple of weeks, every time I drive the car, I get a number of error messages regarding problems with the advanced driver assistance features. These include: "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem", "Collision Mitigation System Problem", Lane Keeping Assist Problem", "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem", and "Auto High-Beam Problem".

All Honda Sensing technology is not working and brake system indicator is on. ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation, auto high beam, road departure. I read online that a lot of Honda Odyssey owners are experiencing same problem.

While driving, all at once several messages displayed, all of which are related to forward facing camera.

Starting at 50,000, I began receiving six different warning signs every time I turn on my car: (1) collision mitigation problem, (2) auto high beam warning, (3) lane keeping assist problem, (4) road departure mitigation problem, (5) adaptive cruise control problem, and (6) brake system light stays on. Online forums show this is a pervasive problem with 2020-2021 Odysseys at around 50,000 miles.

The vehicle automatically brakes when approaching a small bridge crossing that had a slight 2 inch lip from pavement to bridge concrete , it also tries to alert of a collision when going around a slight curve when a vehicle is passing .

Turned on the car. It was parked for 1 day after the last driving event with no issues. Today was 15 degrees hotter than yesterday.

Out of nowhere I got a bunch of errors involving the addaptive cruise, lane keep assist, auto highbeams, collision avoidance, and the brake system light came on. the van has under 40K miles on it. From a quick search I can see that this is a VERY common issue.

On 3/3/2025, the multipurpose camera started failing and I was seeing warning lights all tied to this system. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Auto High-Beam Problem, and Break System lights all came on. The problem was confirmed by the Honda dealership claiming there was an internal short that caused the issue.

We bought this van with a clean bill of health as far as accidents and single owner prior to us. The car had a documented maintenance history but after 5K miles of driving it the active cruise control began to through all kinds of errors. I researched this issue and find that many more Honda owners with active cruise control have the same issue.

The windshield camera malfunction caused a loss of all adaptive features include: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, collision prevention, automatic emergency braking system, and automatic highbeam.

__ The present complaint alleges as follows: 1. Honda has a defective design in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of all Honda Odysseys, models 2018-2023. Namely, Honda has placed the RADAR behind the large HONDA emblem on the front grille.

I am writing to report a significant safety issue with my 2020 Honda Odyssey. The Front Assembly Assist Monocular Camera (OEM part 36160-THR-C01-M1) has failed, causing the loss of several critical safety features, including auto high beam, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).

After owning this vehicle for a little over a year without issues, I turned on the vehicle and randomly received the following five (5) error messages: Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control Problem (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, and Auto High-Beam Problem.

All of a sudden warnings appear related to Collision Mitigation system Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Auto High Beam Problem Adaptive cruise control problem Road departure mitigation problem This is a major issue. I don’t feel safe driving this car with my family. Therefore NHTSA should get Honda to issue a recall for this vehicle given the magnitude and sheer scale of the problem.

I have a 2020 Honda Odyssey and had it into the dealer for service. The battery needed to be replaced. I replaced the battery myself and had the below 5 error messages.

September 2024, I bought my car to the dealership to check multiple warning lights showed up on my dashboard. The dealer read the code and determine the multipurpose windshield camera had internal malfunction. The dealer told me that my multipurpose windshield camera need to be replace on my 60k mi 2020 Odyssey EX-L for ~$2.3k in Conshohocken PA.

On 6-11-24 The warning lights cycle through Auto Highbeam problem Lane Keeping assist Adaptive Cruise Control Collision Mitigation System problem Road departure Mitigation System problem Earlier in the day I had maintenance at the dealership performed on my car: brake fluid , trans svc,new tires and alignment, oil change and rotate tires, AC filter change, air cleaner element replaced.

After the last recall I had corrected by Honds, I started having issues with my LKAS system. The following notifications started coming periodically and now they always come on every time I start my 2020 Honda Odyssey. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Auto High-Beam.

The design defect of the camera in front of the car seriously affects the life safety of the driver. The dealer did not pay attention to this problem. The car did not collide, but six error prompts appeared during driving: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Auto High-Beam Problem.

Adaptive cryise control, collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, lane keeping assist, auto high beam all have errors and are not working. It happened without cause. Apparently it isn't uncommon for radar and sensor safety systems to just fail for no reason.

The entire ADAS system has begun loosing sensing capabilities for a time period but start working again later. It comes and goes regularly at this point. This inconsistency could cause and accident.

LKAS, Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning all malfunctioned. Dealer inspected and determined it is an overheated camera that controls all the mentioned safety functions. This happened while driving on highway and has never worked again.

The front camera that controls adaptive system died within 4years of owning the vehicle so all the warning lights come on now.

Went to pull into parking lot, ADAS system starting going crazy. Throws transmission malfunction error. Headlights won’t work - they turn on and off or go extremely dim.

The forward facing camera failed on my 2020 Odyssey with only 90,000 miles. Because of this failure, I am loosing all my forward facing safety features. This seems to be a common issue across many Honda vehicles and most users report being told the issue is being caused by overheating.

The camera controlling many systems regarding safety failed and caused numerous warning lights to come on. Complete camera replacement was necessary.

The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and they confirm that the cause of all this problems is the Multipurpose front windshield camera.

The camera is faulty and I've brought it in once early on and the dealer said a wire needed to be tightened. It happened again and they said no such loose wire this time. The code says camera needs to be replaced.

Vehicle was acting normally, and unexpectedly 5 warning alarms came in concurrently all related to ADAS features, creating confusion for the driver. No other abnormalities were observed. Vehicle runs and drives normally.

All systems associated with the Lane Keeping Assist System are intermittent. No event caused them to initially fail and no discernible conditions cause it to fail currently. The system works intermittently.

While driving at various speeds, my vehicle will intermittently brake without warning on its own. The brake warning symbol will flash on the instrument panel and the steering wheel shakes. The surprise and unexpected braking caused me alarm as well as my passengers who did not understand why the vehicle suddenly braked for no apparent reason.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently brake independently as the brake warning symbol would flash on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the steering wheel would shake during the failure.

System is starting to fail by alerting me to clean windshield. Windshield and camera have been cleaned, still getting multiple warnings that system is shutting off safety features during my commutes.

The front camera that regulates the adaptive cruise control failed. Now it does not allow for any of the safety features to work. I’ve gone on multiple Honda forums and a lot of people have the same issue.

The front camera is malfunctioning, affecting all of my safety sensors.

The ADAS front windshield camera failed on our 2020 Honda Odyssey. This vehicle is too new to have a failure like this and this is a very common issue that I have seen across all Honda Odysseys of same generation. Honda needs to be held accountable.

The entire Advanced Driver Assistance System failed. My vehicle has not been inspected. The entire ADAS does not work upon startup.

Camera sensor fails from time to time and break system light come on. This is reported to happen on most Honda from 2018 to current model.

ACC system started giving errors, diagnostics ran at Honda pointed to multi function camera. System was quoted for replacement at 1500 this seems to be a big problem across these models. Please investigate.

It seems our multi-purpose camera is malfunctioning and therefore causing all of the systems to go offline and light up on the dashboard when we turn on the car. It seems the only solution is to replace this. That seems insane that we should have to pay for this if this is a major safety feature of the car and one of the reasons we purchased the vehicle.

It’s starting raining and the brake system light came on and hasn’t went off.
