AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH STAYS ON THERE WAS A RECALL BUT HONDA IS DENYING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION, WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT, AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT AVOID THE OTHER VEHICLE, AS A RESULT THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK FROM THE SEAT BELT AND BACK. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES AND REAR LEFT PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK INJURIES ALL REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT MENTION THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS NIER HIS RESIDENCE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE THERE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED OF THE ACCIDENT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
AIR BAGS LIGHT NEVER STOP I FILL LIKE I'M NOT SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHIT MY FAMILY
CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. I SAW THAT THE 2005 HAD A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, WONDERING IF 2006 COULD BE IMPACTED WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM. LIGHT COMES ON BOTH WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION, AND WHEN CAR IS IN PARK.
TAKATA RECALL. WE RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THE SELLING DEALER TELLING US THAT A PROBLEM MAY EXIST WITH THE AIR BAGS IN OUR CAR. THEY PROVIDED US WITH A RECALL NUMBER ( EA 15001). I WENT TO OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER IN FORT MYERS FL. AND THEY TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR OUR VEHICLE. WE ARE NOT SURE WHO TO BELIEVE. PLEASE SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT. THE DRIVER DIED INSTANTLY IN THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE INJURIES SUSTAINED IN THE CRASH WERE UNKNOWN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY 2006 ODYSSEY WAS HIT ON THE PASSENGER 2ND ROW BY A VEHICLE THAT RAN A STOP SIGN AND SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER SIDE. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE ODYSSEY TO SPIN AND WAS PUSHED AT LEAST 20 FEET BEFORE BEING STOPPED BY THE CURB. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND SHE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES- NO ONE WAS IN THE 2ND ROW THANKFULLY. WHEN I VIEWED THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, AFTER INQUIRING FURTHER TO VERIFY THIS ASSUMPTION, I DISCOVERED THAT NO AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED. I WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THIS. THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND DID NOT. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MALFUNCTION, AND I AM INFORMING YOU OF IT AS SUCH. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A MATTER OF PUBLIC SAFETY BECAUSE A SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG SHOULD DEPLOY WHEN VEHICLE IS HIT HARD AND DIRECTLY ON ITS SIDE. I WAS LEFT WITH THE THOUGHT OF WHY DO THEY EVEN INSTALL THESE IF IT DOES NOT DEPLOY IN THIS TYPE OF ACCIDENT. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES WHICH SUBSTANTIATE THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT AND DAMAGE SUSTAINED. MVA OCCURRED WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO YIELD AND TURNED INTO THE PATH OF THE HONDA, THE HONDA WAS IMPACTED IN THE FRONT RIGHT AREA AND AIRBAG DEPLOYED CAUSING SEVERE SECOND DEGREE BURNS ON BOTH HANDS OF DRIVER. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WIRING OF THE AIR BAGS WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE VALVES, REAR BRAKES AND THE REAR ENGINE MOUNT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE CURRENT VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS 113,000 MILES.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN WHICH THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEFLATE AFTER DEPLOYMENT. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT AND REAR SEATS HAD THEIR HEADS STUCK BETWEEN THE AIR BAGS AND THE WINDOW. THE PASSENGERS HAD TO OPEN THE DOORS IN ORDER TO FREE THEMSELVES. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS TOOK LONGER TO DEPLOY THAN NORMAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BUT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 85,696 UPDATED 3/7/11 *CN
NONE OF THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. VAN WAS HIT HARD IN FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. THE SIDE AIRBAGS BARELY CRACKED THE CASINGS AND DIDN'T DEPLOY OUT AS DESIGNED. THIS HAPPENED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. A CHILD WAS SITTING BEHIND THE DRIVER. *TR

PURCHASED A NEW 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L WITH RES AND NAV IN JULY 2006 IN NEW JERSEY (PLANET HONDA). TWICE I NOTICED ON VERY COLD MORNINGS (OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 10 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AT 9:30 AM) THAT AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE THE AIR-BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO AWAY. AFTER DRIVING AROUND FOR 10 MINUTES (WITH THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT STILL ON) I SWITCHED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AFTER 5 MINUTES. THIS TIME THE AIR-BAG INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT STAY ON. I BROUGHT THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALERS ATTENTION. THEY HAD A LOOK AND CONCLUDED THAT THE SIDE IMPACT SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING (PART NUMBER 77970-SHJ-B81). THEY HAVE ORDERED TWO NUMBERS ??? HOW CAN THIS BE ? THIS IS A BRAND NEW MINIVAN WITH ONLY 5000 MILES ON IT AND NO COLLISIONS NOT EVEN THE LEAST MINOR ONES WHAT SO EVER. SEEMS THERE ARE SOME GAPS AND QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES IN HONDA'S MANUFACTURING PROCESS NOW THAT THIS MINIVAN IS ENTIRELY BEING BUILT IN USA. I AM JUST PLAIN LUCKY THAT THE AIR-BAG (WHETHER SIDE OR FRONTAL, I DON'T KNOW) DID NOT INFLATE IN MY FACE. *NM
ON 4 NOV 06 AT APPROXIMATELY 1128 MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED WITH A FRONT IMPACT CRASH AND THE FOLLOWING SAFETY DEFECTS OCCURRED CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY. THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT ARE AS FOLLOWS: WEATHER: CLEAR ROAD CONDITIONS: DRY LEVEL GRADE SPEED: APPROX 35 MPH VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING DOWN 2 LANE SECONDARY ROAD WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT OF IT. MY VEHICLE IMPACTED THE OTHER ONE IN THE LEFT REAR QUADRANT. THE DAMAGE TO MY ODYSSEY WAS DIRECTLY ON THE FRONT GRILL AND BUMPER AREA. THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS WERE DISLODGED FROM THE MOUNTS LOCATED ON THE INSIDE DOOR POST. I THINK THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND THE SEAT BELTS WERE DEFECTIVE. BOTH OF THE ITEMS WERE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP AND AIRBAG WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. PART NUMBERS LISTED BELOW.
