AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling specific 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2013-2016 ILX, 2013-2014 ILX Hybrid, 2003-2006 MDX, 2007-2016 RDX, 2002-2003 3.2TL, 2004-2006, and 2009-2014 TL, 2010-2013 ZDX and 2001-2007 and 2009 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2007 and 2010-2011 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began April 10, 2019. The vehicles are equipped with passenger frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2003-2012 Honda Accord and Pilot, 2010 Accord Crosstour, 2001-2011 Civic, 2002-2011 CR-V, 2003-2004, 2006-2008 and 2011 Element, 2007 and 2009-2013 Fit, 2010-2012 Insight, 2002-2004 Odyssey, and 2012 Ridgeline vehicles. The front passenger air bag may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began June 22, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are K1P, and M1O.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2001-2007 Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2001-2004 Honda Civic GX, 2003-2005 Honda Civic Hybrid, 2002-2006 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, 2006 Ridgeline, 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2003-2006 Acura MDX, and 2002-2003 Acura 3.2TL vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion and other factors, including manufacturing variability that, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238, select option 4. Note: Vehicles that have had their driver frontal air bag replaced previously as part of a recall remedy prior to September 12, 2014 need to have their air bag replaced under this recall as well. Vehicles that, on or after September 12, 2014, received a remedy for a prior driver frontal air bag inflator recall already received an inflator of a different design, and therefore are not included in this recall and do not require additional servicing. Specifically, vehicles sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa are addressed by this recall. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began January 26, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Honda is recalling certain model year 2003-2004 Honda Odyssey vehicles manufactured February 13, 2002, to August 13, 2004, and 2003 Acura MDX vehicles manufactured February 21, 2002, to September 23, 2003. Due to electrical noise, a component in the air bag control module may fail, causing the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Fix: Honda dealers will replace the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (SRS ECU). The recall began on February 22, 2016. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's number for this recall is JN6 (Odyssey), and JN7 (MDX). Note: This recall supersedes recall 13V-412. Vehicles that had a noise filter installed as the remedy for that campaign need to have the SRS ECU replaced under this campaign.

American Honda Motor Company, Inc.'s (Honda) is conducting a limited regional recall for certain model year 2003-2005 Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot and Acura MDX, model year 2003-2004 Odyssey and Element, and model year 2005 Acura RL, and 2006 Honda Ridgeline vehicles originally sold, or ever registered in California, and equipped with Takata-brand air bag inflators. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflators in all affected vehicles, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during August 2014. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

Honda is recalling certain model year 2003 and 2004 Odyssey and model year 2003 Acura MDX vehicles. Due to electrical noise, a component in the air bag control module may fail causing the front air bags, side curtain air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.
Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a noise suppressor unit, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2013. A renotification letter went out on July 11, 2014 for the 2003 Acura and the 2003-2004 Odyssey. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. IN A SECOND INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH A DEER CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END BUT NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURE THE DRIVER. A MESSAGE SRS FAILURE HAD DISPLAYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A TORSO INJURY AND SMALL LACERATIONS FROM THE SHATTERED GLASS. NO MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. MY DAD RECIEVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL SAYING HE HAS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE AIRBAG AND THE WEB SITES ARE NOT EVEN HELPING HIM MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION INFORMING ME OF THE RECALL, AND STATING IN THE LETTER "FREE RENTAL CARS ARE AVAILABLE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER FOR THE DAY OF THE RECALL REPAIR, OR LONGER IF A REPLACEMENT PART IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE." I CALLED A LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO ARRANGE THE RECALL REPAIR AND WAS INFORMED THEY DON'T OFFER THE FREE RENTAL CAR SERVICE. I CALLED HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION TO ENQUIRER ABOUT THIS SERVICE. THEY TOOK MY INFORMATION AND WILL HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME WITHIN 24-48 HOURS I CAN EXPECT A CALLBACK WITH AN AUTHORIZATION SERVICE. THE WAY THE LETTER IS WORDED IMPLIES A FREE RENTAL IS AVAILABLE, NO WHERE IN THE LETTER DOES IT STIPULATE UPON DEALER APPROVAL, OR ANY FINE PRINT INDICATING ANY STIPULATIONS AROUND THE FREE CAR RENTAL. FROM THE LETTER, I EXPECT A LOANER WHILE REPAIRS ARE PERFORMED, YET HONDA HAS TO AUTHORIZE THIS. THE DEALER INFORMED ME TO BRING THE LETTER IN WITH ME BUT I CAN'T TAKE THE TIME TO TRAVEL THERE IN CASE I'LL BE DENIED A RENTAL. I HAVE RECEIVED MANY NOTICES ABOUT SEVERAL DIFFERENT RECALS
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE A RECALL PERFORMED. THEY WERE TO REPLACE THE SRS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT REPLACED. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON. AFTER THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL MY SRS WARNING LIGHT IS ON. THE LIGHT HAS NEVER BEEN ON IN THE 10 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. SO AS IT TURNS OUT I TOOK A CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A RECALL PERFORMED AND THEY RETURNED A DEFECTIVE CAR TO ME. THEY REFUSE TO FIX WHATEVER THEY DID TO CAUSE THE SRS MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO COME ON AND STAY ON.
SRS LIGHT IS ON.DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND POSSIBLY MORE CHANGES THEREAFTER. ANYTHING RELATED TO SEAT BELTS IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY.

NHTSA TICKET #: 1068744 I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I TOOK MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY TO RUDOLPH HONDA IN EL PASO, TX TO CORRECT FOUR RECALLS. THE RECALLS WERE NOT CORRECTED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE NOW HAS ITS SRS INDICATOR LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON ALONG WITH THE SIDE AIRBAG OFF AND PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF INDICATOR LIGHTS FLASHING. TAKATA RECALL. WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM HONDA IN JUNE 2016 REGARDING A PROBLEM WITH OUR PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR. THE NOTICE SAID HONDA WOULD REPLACE THE AIRBAG INFLATOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS 16V-344. BEGINNING ON JULY 7, 2016, I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO CALL MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER (OURISMAN HONDA IN BETHESDA, MD) TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPLACEMENT. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE REFUSED TO CALL ME BACK TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. BOTH AMERICAN HONDA AND THEIR DEALER (OURISMAN HONDA) HAVE FAILED TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHIN 60 DAYS OF THE DATE THAT I FIRST CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR APPOINTMENT (JULY 7, 2016).

THEY MADE THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENTS OF THE AIRBAGS, SRS MODIFICATION AND SHIFT INTERLOCK. AFTER THIS MODIFICATION, THE AIR BAG SRS LIGHT LIT UP AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED A NEW SRS UNIT. THEY STATED THEY COULD SELL ME A USED ONE FOR $350-400 PLUS INSTALLATION. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT WANT A USED SRS UNIT AND WOULD PURCHASE A NEW ONE FROM HONDA. I HAD THEM INSTALL THE NEW SRS UNIT ON DECEMBER 17, 2014. IN MARCH, 2014, I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE (NHTSA RECALL 15V-045 STATING THAT HONDA SRS UNITS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND MY HONDA DEALERSHIP WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITH ME WHEN THEY RECEIVED A NEW SRS UNIT FOR MY VEHICLE. ON JUNE 10, 2015, KUHN HONDA REPLACED MY SRS UNIT A SECOND TIME BUT I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS AN AIR BAG SENSOR FAILURE, BUT ONE THAT WAS NONRELATED TO THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM THE HONDA AUTOMOBILE DIVISION ABOUT THE RECALL ON AIRBAGS FOR 2004 ODYSSEYS, AND I CONTACTED THE JEFFREY HONDA DEALER, IN ROSEVILLE, MICHIGAN. A CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS, BUT IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A MONTH AND NO ONE HAS GOTTEN BACK TO ME. ARE THE AIRBAGS OKAY, OR DO WE STILL NEED TO GET THEM FIXED? IF WE DO HAVE TO GET THEM FIXED, WHEN WILL THE HONDA DEALERS KNOW ABOUT THIS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A MODULE IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAUSING IT TO DEPLOY ON ITS OWN. THE ADDITIONAL PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THE " SRS " LIGHT IS ON WHICH AS I WAS TOLD BY THE HONDA MECHANIC THAT IT MEANS THAT THE AIR BAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY IF NEEDED . THEY ALSO REFUSED TO FIX THE LIGHT BEING ON BECAUSE THEY SAID THE 2 PROBLEMS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME MORE OF A SAFTY HAZZARD THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT INFLATE WHEN YOU WOULD NEED IT AS APPOSED TO GOING OFF BY ITSELF. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2012 I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT FACING THE SUN. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THE SRS (AIR BAG WARNING) LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AS I DROVE THE 3 MILES TO MY HOME THE LIGHT STAYED ON. BEGINNING AROUND NOV. 23, 2012, AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD STAYED ON AFTER ITS INITIAL TEST (BLINK ON AND THEN OFF) ONCE IGNITION TURNED ON AND ENGINE RUNNING. OVER NEXT APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS, LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY COME ON AFTER TEST AND THEN STAY ON WHILE ENGINE RUNNING. SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE MORE WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS WARM RATHER THAN COLD. HOWEVER, WITHIN THE PAST APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH (SINCE MAY 2013), LIGHT HAS BEEN STAYING ON CONSTANTLY AFTER INITIAL TEST AND IGNITION TURNED ON. VEHICLE HAS BEEN OPERATING NORMALLY OTHERWISE. I'VE CHECKED ALL SEATBELT CONNECTIONS AND FUSES AND NOTHING ABNORMAL FOUND. NO OTHER DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS, NOR HAVE THERE BEEN ANY ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, SO PROBLEM IS ISOLATED TO AIRBAG SYSTEM. *TR

DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 20 YARDS, THEN PLACED IT IN PARK TO ALLOW THE REAR VAN DOORS TO OPEN FOR OUR CHILDREN. WHEN THE KIDS GOT IN, I PLACED THE SHIFT LEVER IN DRIVE. IMMEDIATELY, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED VIOLENTLY. I WAS NOT IN MOTION, WAS NOT STRUCK BY ANY OTHER VEHICLE OR OBJECT, AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. AN OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER WAS PARKED RIGHT BEHIND ME SAW THIS AND CAME TO HELP. HE NOTED THAT THE AIRBAG FIRING MECHANISMS CONTINUED TO FIRE. "I'VE SEEN A LOT OF WRECKS" HE SAID "BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN THE AIRBAGS CONTINUE TO FIRE. THE HORN CONTINUED TO BEEP. SHE SUSTAINED POWDER BURNS ON BOTH ARMS, AND WAS, OF COURSE SHOCKED BY THE SURPRISE. IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FURTHER. I HAD MINOR POWDER BURNS ON MY ARMS, AND OUR EARS WERE RINGING FROM THE LOUD EXPLOSIONS. *TR

1. ON SAT, NOVEMBER 22, 2008, MY FAMILY AND I WERE RIDING IN OUR 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. WE WERE TRAVELING WEST ON 94 THROUGH MENOMONIE, WI AT A POSTED SPEED OF 65 MPH. IT WAS 6:15 OR SO, AND THE SUN HAD GONE DOWN. THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD AS IT WAS HUNTING SEASON IN WI. WITHOUT WARNING, 2 LARGE DEER JUMPED IN FRONT OF OUR MINIVAN. MY HUSBAND HIT BOTH DEER - ONE WENT OVER THE TOP OF THE VAN, AND ONE WENT UNDER THE VAN - BOTH DEER WERE KILLED BY THE IMPACT. MY HUSBAND DID NOT LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR, AND WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING ELSE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE, AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. 2. THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! WHILE THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL INJURY TO EITHER MY HUSBAND OR MYSELF, I KNOW THERE WAS A DEFECT AS THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN A FRONT END IMPACT AT THAT SPEED. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO DATE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS FRONT END OF MINIVAN NEEDS EXTENSIVE REPAIR IN ORDER TO BE DRIVEN AGAIN. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH ON DRY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, AND CAUSED A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A ONE WAY STREET SIGN. BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A THERMAL BURN ON THE TOP OF HER LEFT HAND, BRUISED KNEE AND RIGHT RING FINGER. ALSO, THE LEFT SLEEVE OF THE DRIVER'S JACKET SUSTAINED A BURN FROM THE AIR BAG. BOTH OCCUPANTS IN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WORE THEIR SEAT BELTS. THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS 15 INCHES AWAY FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE WERE NO PICTURES AVAILABLE, BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TOWING LOT, TO AWAIT INSPECTION.
