RECALLCampaign #20V026000

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 1998 Acura 2.2CL, 1998-1999 Acura 2.3CL, 1998-1999 Acura 3.0CL, 2001 Acura 3.2CL and Acura MDX, 1998-2000 Honda Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Sedan, Odyssey and Acura 3.5RL, 1999-2000 Acura 3.2TL, 1996-2000 Civic Coupe, 1997-2000 CR-V, 1997-1998 EV Plus, and 1998-1999 Isuzu Oasis vehicles. These vehicles were equipped with Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators (NADI) and do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, causing the inflators to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver frontal air bag inflator, and replace it if necessary, with an inflator of a different design, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138 or Isuzu customer service at 1-800-255-6727.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2001-2002 Acura 3.2CL, 2000-2003 Acura 3.5RL, 2000-2001 Acura 3.2TL, Honda CR-V and Honda Odyssey, 2001-2002 Acura MDX and 2000 Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Coupe, and Civic Sedan vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement NADI inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the air bags in the vehicles, replacing the driver frontal air bag inflator with an inflator of a different design, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138.

2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. ON 5/25/09 I WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 125MPH; I WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH. ONCE HIT, I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR, IT JUMPED THE CURB, WENT INTO THE WOODS WHILE STILL MOVING. THE FRONT OF MY VAN THEN HIT A TREE. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL FRONT END DAMAGE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SEAT BELT LOCKED PROPERLY EITHER. WHEN THE FRONT WAS HIT, BATTERY AND AIR FILTER AREA WAS BENT UPWARDS TOWARDS THE DASH AND BUMPER CAME OFF, ALONG WITH MAJOR WHEEL DAMAGE/BENDING ALONG WITH HOOD DAMAGE. INSIDE THE VAN UNDER STEERING WHEEL THE PANEL UNDERNEATH BENT INSIDE, FRONT PANEL NEAR RADIO FELL OFF WITH WIRES HANGING. THAT IS HOW HARD I WAS HIT FROM THE FRONT WITH THE TREE, ALONG WITH THE MAJOR FRONTAL DAMAGE. MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAD BROKEN RIBS, BRUISED LUNGS, DEEP ABDOMINAL BLEEDING THAT CAUSED VERY DEEP RED BRUISING ON MY STOMACH, PELVIC REGION, AND VAGINAL AREA ALONG WITH SWELLING, FRACTURED BONE IN RIGHT FOOT, SWELLING ON LEFT FOOT, BRUISING AND KNOTTING ON LEGS, KNEES, DEEP GASH IN RIGHT SIDE, CUT ON LEFT FOOT, ETC. ALSO KNOT ON MY HEAD AND A CLOSED HEAD INJURY INCLUDING SPEECH PROBLEMS, AND BACK AND NECK INJURIES/PAIN. I AM STILL RECOVERING FROM THEM 12 WEEKS LATER AND GOING THROUGH PHYSICAL THERAPY. SOME BRUISING/KNOTTING ON MY LEG STILL NOT HEALED. I HAVE SEEN MANY HONDA ACCORDS HAVE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT PROBLEMS WITH SENSORS AND SEAT BELT SENSORS NOT WORKING, PERHAPS THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT OCCURRED WITH MY ODYSSEY. I HAVE DIGITAL PICTURES I CAN SEND TO YOU IF NEEDED. *TR

WHEN I BUMPED A METAL SIGN IN THE WALMART PARKING LOT ON FEB 18 2002 DRIVING 5 MPH, MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE SEAT BELTS FROZE. I FOUND IN THE MANUAL THAT THEY ARE ONLY SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY UPON MODERATE TO SEVERE IMPACT. I ALONG WITH 3 OTHER BODY SHOPS AND MY INSURANCE, STATE FARM, FELT THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED FAULTY AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, DEMONSTRATING HOW LIGHTLY THE SIGN WAS HIT. THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE DEFECT THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT, IN CASE IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. *TS ****DIMSII IVOQ ENTRY POSTED AFTER 12/12/02 CUT OVER TO ARTEMIS****760765
