HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 HONDA ACCORD AND CR-V VEHICLES. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WHICH MAY CAUSE INTERMITTENT SPARK FIRING OR THE ENGINE TO STALL.
Fix: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE IGNITION WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 24, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

While backing out of your garage, flames and smoke came from under your hood, originating from the alternator and lower engine area. You used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and had the car towed for service. Your mechanic replaced the alternator and starter, then the engine wiring, but these repairs didn't resolve the issue. The engine fire was severe enough that Honda opened an official case to investigate what caused it.

The contact owns a 2010 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when he drives his vehicle over 40 MPH, the check engine warning light was illuminated and the vehicle would lose power. The contact stated that the accelerator was depressed and the vehicle failed to increase in speed. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the crank sensor, spark plugs, as well as catalytic converter. The vehicle was driving normally for about a year, however, the failure reoccurred. The dealer or manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V004000 (Electrical System) however his vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 160,000
PASSENGER AIR BAG KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF . THERE IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT AND BACK LOCKS . THE VCT ACTUATOR HAS GONE BAD ON THE CAR WHICH CAUSE IT TO MAKE A LOUD RATTLE NOISE . THERE IS ALSO SOMETHING UNDER THE CAR THAT'S LOOSEN UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN YOU HEAR A KNOCKING NOISE . *TR
IN THE PAST 2 YEARS I HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS TWICE! I HAVE HAD TO TOP OFF MY OIL WITHOUT HAVING OIL LEAKAGE. I HAVE REPLACED MY BATTERY TWICE, AND NOW NEED TO REPLACE MY ALTERNATOR. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE OIL AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES.. IT MUST BE GETTING PAST PISTONS SOMEHOW. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE ADDRESSED!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, IT HESITATED WHILE DRIVING AS IF IT WOULD STALL. ALSO, THE MAINTENANCE AND SPARK PLUG INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. FURTHERMORE, THE TAIL LIGHTS SHORTED OUT AND FAILED TO ILLUMINATE RANDOMLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 11V395000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 11V004000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). CROWN HONDA OF SOUTHPOINT (1001 SOUTHPOINT AUTOPARK BLVD, DURHAM, NC 27713, (919) 883-4960) WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT AN APPOINTMENT NEEDED TO BE SCHEDULED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL OR WARRANTY CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE IN CITY AND HIGHWAY THE DOOR LOCKS KEEP LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. ELECTRONIC KEY LOCK ONLY LOCKS AND UNLOCKS THE THE PASSENGER SIDE AND NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
I HAVE A BROKEN AIRBAG SENSOR WIRE UNDER MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE WIRE BROKE ON IT'S OWN FROM SIMPLY MOVING THE SEAT FOR MY DAUGHTER TO GET IN THE BACK SEAT. HONDA WANTS OVER $400 TO REPLACE THIS AND CLAIMS THE WIRE LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN CUT. HOWEVER I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE & NEVER CUT THIS WIRE. I TOOK THE CAR TP ANOTHER AUTO SHOP WHO GAVE ME THEIR OPINION THE WIRE SIMPLY BROKE THRU NORMAL USE. I BELIEVE HONDA NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS AT NO COST AS IT'S A SAFETY CONCERN & NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS LIT UP AT ALL TIMES & I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIRBAGS WILL WORK IN AN ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED HONDA AGAIN TODAY ABOUT THIS & EVEN WITH THE OPINION OF AN AUTO SHOP THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN'T HELP SINCE THE VEHICLE ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY.
THE CAR JOLTS WHEN PUT INTO GEAR AND WHEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BETWEEN GEARS. FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO STALL DURING TRANSMISSION SHIFTS DURING ACCELERATION/DECELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND D LIGHT IS BLINKING. REQUIRED THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS AND DRIVERS UNDER DASH FUSE BOX TO BE REPLACED. HONDA SAYS THE CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL FOR THIS EVEN THOUGH HONDA HAS A RECALL FOR POTENTIAL FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FOR THE 2010 ACCORD. *JS
ALL 4 OF MY LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE GONE OUT IN ABOUT A 6 YEAR PERIOD OF TIME. THEY WENT OUT INDIVIDUALLY APPROXIMATELY A YEAR APART. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. HONDA DID COVER THE FIRST BUT REFUSED TO COVER THE OTHER 4. I️ HAD ASKED TO TO HAVE ALL OF THEM REPLACED INITIALLY AND WAS TOLD NO. HONDA OBVIOUSLY BOUGHT A BATCH OF BAD LOCK ACTUATORS. I HAVE OWNED 8 HONDA'S OVER THE LAST 35 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE LOCK ACTUATOR GO OUT IN ANY HONDA I️ HAVE EVER OWNED.
WITHIN THE LAST YEAR WHEN MY CAR IS FIRST STARTED IT GRINDS WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED. LIKE IT IS NOT BEING TURNED ALL THE WAY OR BEING HELD TOO LONG BUT IT ISN'T. DOES NOT HAPPEN AFTER THE FIRST START AND DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME. SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN IT IS COLD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ONLINE AND FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V004000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BURNED UP. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO PUT OUT THE FIRE...ON A CITY STREET.
DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE STOPPED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOORS ON THREE OF THE FOURS DOORS OF THE CAR. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR WITH THE KEY IN ORDER TO LOCK IT. THE TWO REAR PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT UNLOCK VIA THE INTERIOR UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND MUST BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED AND LOCKED BY FLIPPING THE DOOR LOCK ITSELF ON EACH DOOR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD .. TO HAVE ALL THREE DOOR AFFECTED IS FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND NOT INCORRECT USE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS BUT WE INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY IN THE ELECTRONIC KEYS. AFTER REPLACING IT AND THE PROBLEMS CONTINUING THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND WE WERE TOLD THE 3 ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
ON FEBRUARY 10, 2017 THE CAR HORN SOUNDED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, AND THIS REPEATED TWICE BEFORE 2 AM. THE CAR WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND NO ONE WAS NEAR IT. THE KEY WAS ON THE TABLE. THE ACTION WAS SPONTANEOUS. IT STOPPED ONLY WHEN I UNLOCKED THE CAR DOOR. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR LATER IN THE MORNING AT LEAST FOUR SAFETY WARNINGS APPEARED INCLUDING "BRAKES" ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS BEHAVIOR WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALER DARCARS HONDA IN BOWIE MARYLAND, WHERE IT WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A FUSE BOX WHICH MUST BE REPLACED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR, EVEN IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED, BECAUSE OF THE CAR'S SAFETY WARNING.
WHEN MAKING TURNS THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK AND CABIN LIGHTS COME ON AS SOON AS YOU START DRIVING STRAIGHT AGAIN DOOR LOCK AND LIGHTS GO OFF. *TR
EVERY TIME YOU PRESS ACCELERATOR AFTER A STOP, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS CLICK AND WILL KEEP LOCKING/UNLOCKING THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS WITH KIDS IN THE CAR. PLUS IT IS VERY ANNOYING WHILE DRIVING. JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ONE DAY AGO. I HAVE READ WHERE MANY HONDA ACCORD OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.
SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO HERB CHAMBERS, SEEKONK, MA, AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SAFETY HARNESS THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PART AS THERE WAS A SHORTAGE OF THESE PARTS AVAILABLE. IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS TO GET THE PART. IT HAS BEEN APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM.

7/13/2011: 39,991 MILES, HUMMING NOISE FROM LEFT FRONT TIRE REPORTED AT HONDA SERVICE DEPT, PARTS ORDERED. 7/2172011: 40,954 MILES, REPLACED LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT HONDA SERVICE DEPT. 9/28/2011: 48,177 MILES, COMPLAINED OF SAME HUMMING NOISE AT HONDA SERVICE , WILL RETURN TOMORROW FOR REPAIR. 9/29/2011: 48,268 MILES, REPLACED RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT HONDA SERVICE. 3/22/2013: 95,778 MILES, COMPLAINED OF CAR RUNNING ROUGH, UNABLE TO GET TO HIGHWAY SPEED, REPLACED #3 SPARK PLUG WHILE ON BUSINESS TRIP. 4/05/2013: 97,100 MILES, COMPLAINED OF HUMMING NOISE, REPLACED BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AT HONDA SERVICE. *TR

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED IN THE VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUAL THAT IF THE KEY WAS TURNED TWICE, ALL OF THE WINDOWS WOULD OPEN WHETHER THEY WERE LOCKED OR NOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHANISM SHOULD BE DISABLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,200. UPDATED 4/4/11 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HOLDING THE HOLDING THE UNLOCK BUTTON FOR 10 SECONDS ON SECOND PUSH WOULD ALSO ROLL DOWN ALL THE WINDOWS. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE UNLOCK REMOTE. IN RECENT, COMPANIES HAVE CHANGED HOW THEY MAKE THE INSULATION FOR CABLES ATTACHED TO A CAR'S ENGINE. THE SOY PRODUCTS NOW USED TO CREATE THE WIRE INSULATION CONCERNS ME A GREAT DEAL. THIS WEEKEND MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR CAR, A 2010 HONDA ACCORD, AND WHILE ON THE ROAD THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE AND STUTTER VIOLENTLY, AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS COULD HAVE ULTIMATELY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND HARMED HER AND OTHER PEOPLE. AFTER HAVING OUR CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS EVIDENCE THAT A RODENT OF SOME TYPE HAD CHEWED ON THE CABLES. NOT ONLY DID THIS MAKE THE CAR UNSTABLE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD, BUT THERE WAS A THREAT OF ELECTRICAL FIRE BECAUSE THE WIRE'S INSULATION WAS CHEWED AWAY BY A SMALL ANIMAL THAT WAS ATTRACTED TO THE SOY-BASED FOOD SOURCE IN THE WIRES. ADDING THE SOY TO THE WIRES CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS INCLUDING UNRELIABILITY, FIRES, AND POSSIBLY EVEN DEATH. I DON'T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. AUTOMOBILE MAKERS ARE USING THE SOY MATERIAL BECAUSE IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE FOR THEM. OVERALL, IT COSTS CONSUMERS/INSURANCE COMPANIES MUCH MORE WHEN REPAIRS ARE NEEDED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY IS THIS DISHONEST OF AUTO MAKERS, BUT THESE TYPES OF SHORTCUTS ARE ILLEGAL AS WELL. PLEASE REQUIRE MANUFACTURERS TO MAKE WIRING INSULATION OUT OF NON-SOY-BASED PRODUCTS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY ALONG WITH YOURS. THANKS. *TR
