CARBON MONOXIDE COMES INTO MY CAR - HONDA REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOUR TIMES - I WAS ALREADY INJURED FROM MY PRIOR 1990 LEXUS 250ES WHEN MY DANGEROUS AIRBAG EXPLODED POINT BLANK INTO MY NECK AND HEAD. MAT AIRBAG HAD NO TETHER. FIVE C-SPIN SURGERIES AND I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO WORK AS A SURGEON OR AT ALL. THIS WAS NEVER RECALLED BUT I STILL HAVE THAT CAR. AIRBAGS ARE NOT SAFE. THERE SHOULD BE H-BELTS THAT ARE SAFE. SODIUM AZIDE CAUSES CANCER. REGARDING MY 2003 HONDA - I ALREADY HAD THE AIRBAGS RECALLED THREE TIMES.....I REQUEST PERMISSION TO HAVE ALL AIR BAGS REMOVED TO SAVE MY LIFE. ANOTHER EXPLOSION WOULD KILL ME. NHTSA DEMANDS THAT CHILDREN SIT IN THE REAR AS OUT OF POSITION OCCUPANTS BUT I AM ONLY 5 FEET AND AM ALSO AN OUT OF POSITION OCCUPANT. DOESN'T NHTSA CARE ABOUT SHORT DRIVERS UNTIL 5'4"? I REQUIRE A RESPONSE. BTW I STILL HAVE THE LEXUS DEATH MOBILE. ALSO THE CARBON MONOXIDE CAUSED ME TO GET ILL, FALL ASLEEP AND CRASH. I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM NHTSA FROM MY PRIOR COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. IT IS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SOMETIMES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS SPONTANEOUSLY TO 2ND OR 1ST GEAR AND FEELS LIKE I'VE SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY APPLIED BRAKES TO THE CAR. THE SUDDEN STOP AND LURCH OF THE CAR IS VIOLENT AND SUDDEN AND CAUSES MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE TWO HONDAS 2010 (80000) AND ANOTHER ONE IS 2003 (87000) MILES. BOTH HAVE SAME PROBLEM OF A LEAK IN ENGINE OIL. ONE HONDA (2010) HAD A CAMPAIGN SO IT WAS FIXED AS PART OF RECALL. OTHER HONDA (2003) DID NOT HAVE CAMPAIGN SO HONDA IS NOT OFFERING THE FIX FOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT RELATED PROBLEM. THIS DEFECT IS DUE TO THE INCORRECT OIL SEAL USED IN THE HONDA AND THEY ARE NOT FIXING AND CREATING THE RISK FOR DRIVERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS FUEL SMELL IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE O-RINGS, FUEL INJECTOR AND VAPOR CANISTER BUT THE INTERIOR CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT THE FUEL SMELL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A SECOND MECHANIC FOR AN ANOTHER OPINION. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AS PER INSTRUCTIONS IN HONDA OWNERS MANUAL. IT HAS 119K ON CAR AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP OUT OF GEAR WHEN DRIVING, ACCORDING TO SEVERAL WEB SITES (HTTP://WWW.HONDAPROBLEMS.COM/PROBLEMS/TRANSMISSION-FAILURE.SHTML), (HTTP://CDONNER.COM/HONDA-ACCORD-2003-EX-V6-TRANSMISSION-FAILURE.HTM) THEIR ARE MANY MORE OUT THERE DOING THE SAME THING AND HONDA USA IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO THE PROBLEM. THE REAL ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSION, THE PAST FEW RECALLS INCLUDE JET KITS AND IGNITION SWITCHES AND A FEW FLASH FILE UPDATES TO TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE NEVER TRULY ADDRESSING THE REAL ISSUE WHICH IS A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE RECALLS ARE LIKE ANY OTHER RECALL WHEN A LARGE REPAIR IS NEEDED ON A BROAD SCALE, SMALLER MORE BAND-AID LIKE REPAIRS ARE INSTITUTED AS RECALLS TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY AND NO LONGER A PROBLEM FOR HONDA. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS KIND OF IRRESPONSIBILITY IS THIS, THE ISSUE IS NOT A CYLINDER WEAR ISSUE AND IT ISN'T A FUEL PUMP FAILING ISSUE THAT SIMPLY IS A FINANCIAL INCONVENIENCE TO THE OWNER, IT IS A PROBLEM WITH A TRANSMISSION FAILING TO STAY ENGAGED, A PROBLEM THAT IS LEAVING DRIVERS IN THE MIDDLE OF ROADS. A PROBLEM THAT IS CAUSING CAR TO LOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR CHANGING LANES, OR AT ANY MOMENTS WITHOUT WARNING, ENDANGERING THE DRIVER. LAST BUT NOT LEAST WHEN A PERSON DECIDES TO BUY A HONDA THEY ARE NOT ONLY PURCHASING A CAR WITH MONEY THEY PURCHASE IT WITH CONFIDENCE OF RELIABILITY. WHEN YOU MAINTAINED A VEHICLE AND YOU DRIVE IT LIKE A BABY AND IT FAILS AT 119K THAT IT WHAT I BELIEVE FALLS INTO THE CATEGORY OF PREMATURE FAILURE. HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DANGEROUS AND SUBPAR PRODUCT THAT THEY HAVE GIVEN TO THE BUYERS IN GOOD FAITH AND AT THE LEAST GIVE 100% PARTS GOODWILL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. UPDATED 05/05/11*LJ THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE NEEDLE WOULD NOT GO PAST 3/4. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND PUMP ASSEMBLY. UPDATED 07/22/11
EVAP SYSTEM FAILED FROM WATER SEEPING INTO DRAIN JOINT. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT CAUSED A RECALL ON OTHER VEHICLE ID NUMBERS FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. THE SAME FAULTY EVAP DESIGN IS USED ON ALL THE HONDA ACCORDS. *TR
SINCE OWNING THIS CAR JANUARY 2003, THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED TO IT: ABS HARNESS CAUGHT ON FIRE (CAR WAS SAVED, BUT HONDA REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANOTHER CAR AFTER WRITING THEM), RADIO HAS GONE OUT, CLOCK GONE OUT, TROUBLE STARTING VEHICLE - THIS IS APPARENTLY A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR - TECH NOTICE BUT NO RECALL. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE SILENTLY RECALLED ONLY IF YOU STATE YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN ONE BIG PROBLEM. *NM
I PURCHASED MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 ON DEC. 31, 2002. I SPENT 6 MONTHS RESEARCHING MANY MAKES AND MODELS IN ORDER TO FIND THE PERFECT CAR FOR MY WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD. I SELECTED THE ACCORD BECAUSE I FELT IT OFFERED THE MOST SAFETY FEATURES AND HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST RELIABLE CARS ON THE ROAD FOR YEARS. MY ONLY CONCERN WAS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A FIRST YEAR REDESIGNED MODEL, BUT WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER HE SAID THAT THE ONLY THING CHANGED BETWEEN 2002 AND 2003 WAS THAT THE VEHICLE HAD HIGH COMPRESSION HEADS AND THAT'S WHERE THE EXTRA HORSEPOWER CAME FROM. I STILL HAD SOME RESERVATIONS, HOWEVER I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, "IT'S A HONDA HOW CAN I GO WRONG?" SEVEN DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IT STRANDED MY WIFE AT WORK. SHE FINALLY GOT THE CAR STARTED AFTER 20 MINUTES AND GOT IT HOME AND TOLD ME IT WOULDN'T CRANK. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A FLUCK AND IT WOULDN'T DO IT AGAIN, 6 DAYS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN. I NOW THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS THE SECURITY CHIP IN HER KEY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM, SO I TOLD HER WE WOULD GET HER A NEW KEY. FIVE DAYS LATER USING MY KEY THE CAR FAILED TO CRANK. I CONTINUED TO HOLD THE KEY OVER TO SEE HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO FINALLY CRANK AND IT TOOK 45 SECONDS OF CONTINUAL CRANKING FOR THE CAR TO FINALLY FIRE OFF! THE NEXT DAY I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND SO I DID. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY HELPFUL AND CONCERNED AND THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO FIX MY CAR, HOWEVER PARTS WERE ON BACK-ORDER AND WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT. THEY GAVE US A RENTAL CAR AND SENT US HOME. IT TOOK HONDA MOTOR CORPORATION 27 DAYS TO DELIVER OUR PART AND WHEN WE GOT THE CAR BACK THE NEXT DAY IT ACTED UP AGAIN SO THE CAR WENT BACK INTO THE SHOP FOR ANOTHER 7 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS COMPLETELY REPLACED THE ENTIRE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM AND THE CAR STILL FAILS TO CRANK ABOUT TWICE A MONTH. THIS IS REDICULOUS, I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO BE RELIABLE AND SAFE FOR MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER, WHO IS NOW 2 MONTHS OLD.*AK
