Electrical Recalls (1)
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. GM issued owners an interim notification on February 4, 2020. GM issued second notice and the recall began March 9, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192273510.
Owner Complaints (65)
Your vehicle suddenly lost engine power while driving at various speeds, even though the electrical systems still worked and the check engine light came on. The dealer replaced the battery, but the problem happened again. Despite multiple service visits and restart attempts, the issue persisted and hasn't been fully diagnosed or repaired. This may require battery testing, alternator inspection, or engine control module diagnostics to identify the root cause.

Your park assist system activates unexpectedly when you're stopped at a red light, even though there's nothing in front of you and auto stop is turned off. The owner discovered two ground straps were corroded, which is a known issue affecting 2019-2024 models under a recall—but their truck wasn't included in that recall. Fixing this typically involves inspecting and replacing corroded ground straps or their connectors.

I was driving up the road truck cranked up fine started a morning commute, on cruise control the truck instantly out of nowhere lost power completely with no signs of anything and engine won’t attempt to turn over now. I fear the worst has happened which would be catastrophic internal failure for to a faulty engine & its internals.
Complete engine failure. I was driving approximately 55 miles an hour, then all of a sudden the cruise control automatically shut off and a series of alarms are triggered. When pressing the accelerator pedal, the engine vibrated excessively in Cleary indicated catastrophic engine failure. I was lucky enough to make it to the nearby dealer who confirmed a complete engine failure. I ended up buying a new vehicle that day to avoid being stranded.
my engine went out with no lights or warnigns prior to engine going out. Now we still making payments for the truck, expensive truck and we haven't use it because we dont have the money to fix it.
This truck needs 2500.00 in work to replace Electrical Harness after months of problems and evaporating leaks.
My truck has a blue screen that appears randomly on occasion that states service rear view system. This is a major safety concern. And after reading online it is a very common occurrence on 2019-2025 gm pickups. It needs to be recalled and a for sure fix done to prevent from backing into someone or something. I have small children and my biggest fear is running them over while playing in the yard and I rely very much on my rear view/360 camera to make sure this doesn’t happen even after double and triple checking they are no where near danger before stepping in my vehicle.
Vehicle (2019 GMC Sierra SLT X31!Crew Cab 6.2 l gas engine) stopped running while driving down the road (Wednesday [XXX]. Tried to start truck - would crank over quickly but failed to start ( crank no start with no check engine light.) tried several times same result. Started after about 5-10 minutes and was displaying low fuel indicator even though we knew it had approximately 1/2 tank. We immediately put gas in it and it took approximately 1/2 tank to fill. Still no check engine light and confirmed no stored codes via onstar report. Drove the truck around for may 1hr and check engine light came on but was still running and did not stop running like it did earlier. On star reported ECM SYSTEM CODE P129F ( Fuel pump or fuel pump power control module). Long story short, put truck in independent repair shop I use. They diagnosed it was a defective fuel pump located in fuel tank. They told me GM technical support recommended to replace the fuel pump and fuel pump power and control module at a cost of ~$1325.00. It is my opinion this is a safety hazard and very similar if not exactly the same failure symptoms / modes as others have already reported. I requested to keep the failed parts and still have them in my possession. Please review and let me know if you need or want additional information . Subject: Urgent Vehicle Safety Complaint – 2019 GMC Sierra Denali Escalating mechanical and electrical failures — many beginning before 100,000 miles, and continuing as of today, at approximately 110,000 miles. These issues have made the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to drive. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have had it serviced regularly and reported that it was driving rough, jerking into gear, and showing early signs of engine and transmission problems. These issues were noted during multiple multipoint inspection services, yet no lasting solutions were provided. Major issues have included: •Engine performance failures •Fuel injector malfunction •Serpentine belt and idler pulley damage •A/C compressor belt failure •Power steering malfunctions •Vehicle stalling at traffic lights •Loss of power on major highways •Rear window water leaks •Significant and ongoing electrical system problems •Shaking when brakes applied after having brakes and rotors replace in March •Screen monitor going out after paying over $ 900 dollars for updated software and repairs to the electronic component that cost over $2500. Despite continued maintenance, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, my truck began losing power and smoking heavily while driving on a busy highway in Georgia. My grandchild, who was riding with me, yelled, “Grandma, it’s smoking — please get out!” as we pulled off the road in fear of a fire. This terrifying incident left us stranded and emphasized just how dangerous this vehicle has become. I filed a formal complaint with the GMC Corporate Office, but no support provided or an investigation. Over the past six months, I have spent more than $5,000 trying to keep this vehicle operational. So many critical systems have failed, despite consistent maintenance, raises serious concerns. Finally, the fuel injector repaired 3 days later a message on dashboard displaying service Tire monitor system and steering wheel shaking when brakes are applied.
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the message "Battery Saver Alert" was displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the battery gauge was reading 9V on the 12V battery. The vehicle was driven to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that a battery tender was needed. The contact asked the dealer to check the 12-Volt battery which was replaced 2 years prior by the same dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the alternator needed to be replaced. The contact was later informed that the battery fuse also needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V888000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 43,742.
Ok I know my vin don't go under the 10 recalls for 2019 gmc sierra limited 1500 rwd, but my truck has the same problem with the brake module has those recalls I feel like gmc might have used different parts for the other recall but used the same brake module for my truck cause I have that same problem has the recall. It's obviously a issue that needs to be look in and my brake module should be fixed by gmc
I’m contacting you regarding my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3L V8 engine. The vehicle is currently experiencing a cylinder 8 misfire (code P0308), accompanied by engine backfiring, ticking noise, and exhaust fumes inside the cabin. Additionally, the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) warning light is on, and performance is noticeably affected. To date, I have: •Replaced all spark plugs and fuel injectors •Verified proper ignition coil function •Had an oil change on September 23, 2024, during which I reported early concerns about engine performance (shortly after the powertrain warranty expired) •Had a transmission flush on March 17, 2025, in an attempt to resolve continued drivability issues Despite these efforts, the issue persists. Given the known issues with AFM lifters and camshaft wear on this engine, I suspect a mechanical failure related to that system.
Just purchased this vehicle, at 84000 miles had engine failure and electrical issues while traveling down interstate with my family. Lost power steering and all warning lights popped up. Safely exited busy interstate -- avoided major accident. This engine should have been included in the recent GMC recall - After a diagnostic $7000.00 plus to fix. UNSAFE ENGINE ISSUE!! Please help the consumer!!
Rear sliding glass window is leaking water around the exterior frame. This is addressed in TSB 18-NA-383 but not covered under any warranty. My rear seats and carpet are becoming wet. I am concerned about the possibility of mold and an electrical short/fire resulting from water intrusion. There are many reports and discussions on the internet regarding this issue. Full window replacement estimated at $1300. Patchwork repair with caulk is estimated at $600 with no guarantees of success. I would expect GMC to cover the replacement of the rear glass in kind and remedy any other damage to my vehicle due to water intrusion into the cabin area.
WHILE TURNING INTO A BUISNESS FROM A HIGHWAY, THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK. UPON LEAVING THE BUISNESS, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGING STALLED. RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE AGAIN AND IT STALLED AGAIN. RESTARTED AND TRIED GOING FORWARD AND IT RAN FINE. ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE LOW FUEL WARNING CAME ON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. AT THIS POINT I REALIZED THAT THE DOORS HAD UNLOCKED AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES KEPT SWEEPING UP AND DOWN. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. IT ACTED LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. AFTER WATING SEVERAL SECONDS, I TRIED AGAIN AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED. I NOTED THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND IT WAS NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NO DTCS PRESENT WHEN CHECKED WITH A GENERIC SCAN TOOL. MY SAFETY WAS PUT AT RISK BECAUSE THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET AS THEY ARE NOT OPEN TODAY AND I WANTED TO REPORT THIS WHILE ALL THE DETAILS WERE FRESH ON MY MIND.
When going to shut off vehicle, when you push the push start button the engine will turn off but the radio and all the instrument panel, gauge lights, and dinging noise are still on. It states on the screen to shift to park. The vehicle is in park and even sometimes has the parking brake on. It can stay on from 1 minute to numerous minutes, which is only running my battery and other things down on my truck. This has happened daily.
While driving at 65 mph on a freeway, the engine failed and cracked a rod with fresh oil and all maintenance done regularly. Truck brakes would not work after engine failure. Truck was fully disabled and I was stranded on freeway @ 90,000 miles. Lights on exterior of the vehicle were dim after engine failed
Complete engine failure. Absolutely insane. All lights on dash, engine seized while driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable that GMC keeps making us fix issues and pay for it! They won't cover the cost. This has been happening too much and putting my family at risk!
The contact owned a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle before the vehicle jerked forward. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road. The contact also stated that the radio would turn on, but there was no image on the screen. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer covered under an undisclosed Customer Satisfaction Program. The contact stated that the abnormal sounds and failure persisted, and the manufacturer was contacted again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a misfire and that the brake lights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
When accelerating it will over rev and then slip and then punch foward I had a diagnostic did and the sensor in the Transmission aren't working properly and then when just driving my etrak also randomly went out and I can no longer active cruise controll
At around 28,000 miles the truck started having intermittent electrical issues. The head unit will show a blue screen. Safty systems will automatically disable. Camera system failures. Even though the truck is a 2019 model it only has around 31,000 miles on it and is now out of warranty and I can’t afford to have the dealership chase electric issues. GMC should be ashamed of putting out such an unreliable vehicle.
Rear window leaks as also reported by GM when truck was manufactured (GM Service Bulletin 18-NA-383). Water from leaking rear window gets into the electronics used for safety systems as well as rear camera and eventually disables safety systems.
GMC of Vacaville California sold me a 2019 GMC Sierra that has a know back window leak issues. I was told by service worker GMC of Vacaville California sold me a 2019 GMC Sierra that has a know back window leak issues. I was told by service worker Brent Lewis/405 that is a common issue and GMC is aware of this issue that the vehicle was brought in before for this same issue prior from [XXX] but was not taken care of. I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] along with a 5k extend warranty that I was told is a bumper to bumper warranty. Come to find out it does not cover a manufacturer defected back window installation. My concern is that they are aware of these issues and water sitting on the inside of the cab due to a leak causes black mold and could cause serious illness to myself and my children. There is an issue with the drivers door locking mechanism. Something between the electrical and the mechanical components that lock and unlocks the door keeps breaking. So far you can always unlock the door manually by pulling the door handle but it sporadically will not lock or unlock by the remote or push button. Also it doesn’t always lock when put into drive like the rest of the doors do.
Complete system failure while driving. Lost control of vehicle, no breaks. Had it brought to dealership. Lifter failure and bent rod, top engine failure which caused everything to malfunction. Vehicle has 88K miles on it. This is a defect. We had taken it in for the ticking problem in the past and they did nothing for us. Everything is documented. We are afraid that bottom half of engine was compromised. Do not feel safe driving this vehicle anymore. I do not want it to blow or lose control of vehicle again. This is a known issue and must be addressed. There was a service bulletin put out for my engine and there is an exact part by part that needs to be replaced, however GM is unwilling to listen to us at this time. Please look into this because this will happen to more and more consumers. This is very scary. What is the cost of a life?
There is a water leak coming into the back cab of my 2019 GMC Sierra. My truck smells horrible the dealership can't find the leak. It smells very moldy and very concern for my children riding in the back breathing the unsafe air.
Question #1- “Service Trailer Brake System”-“Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care”-Brake System Failure 43 MPH Top Speed”-“Service ESC” Question #2- I experienced a Complete loss of braking ability, myself, a friend and, a coworker, as well as the properties around me where placed at risk. Question #3 Not yet I am having towed to the dealer today. Question #4 Not yet the vehicle will be towed to the dealer where I purchased it today. Question #5 Not my knowledge I do not recall any warning lights.
The contact owned a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the A/C stopped working. Additionally, the contact smelled an electrical wiring burning odor. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact then noticed smoke coming from under the glove compartment. The contact stated that he pulled to a carwash and exited the vehicle. An explosion occurred under the hood and the vehicle caught on fire. The contact stated that the vehicle burned significantly. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A police report was filed. A fire department report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 49,653.
Was driving around 70 MPH brakes started engaging and disengaging truck felt like engine was missing, brake light luminated and stated to stop vehicle ABS light luminated as I got to the emergency lane I had no brakes pedal went to floor and I came to a stop after coasting and pressing pedal. Once stopped trailer towing light luminated ( I was not towing anything). I exited truck and it was apparent this was a issue with the front brakes as they were smoking. Rotors appear to have marks in them when compared to rear. After about 30 minutes I started truck and there was no indication on dash of a problem had brake pedal. The truck has 50800 miles on it. Contacted dealer (Hendricks Chevy) this morning they said it was not covered and no recalls I discussed brake issues I read on line again they repeated no recalls in system for my truck, but would be glad to look at it in 2 weeks.
Alarm codes P25A2 & C05B0 -Brake system failure 43mph top speed -Service trailer brake system -Service brake assist -Service ESC -Check engine light -Traction control light My vehicle is not showing any recall, but obviously I’m not the only one with this issue. A quick research on google revealed several people with the same issue. I’m having to pay for this out of pocket for an obvious issue with GMC & Chevy trucks.
The rear window defogger is smoking and sizzling. The connection on the passenger side glass that connects the moveable harness for the center glass smokes and sizzles when the rear defogger is on. There is a recall on these vehicles in Canada for this issue. My concern is that it may start a fire. The connector is right behind the right rear passenger seat, imposing a threat to the occupant of that seat. Also, the rear defogger comes on automatically with heated mirrors when remote started. I cannot use remote start, mirror defogger, or rear glass defogger currently due to this defect. I noticed a sizzling sound while driving the truck. I pulled over and began searching. I found smoke being emitted from the connector attached to the rear glass on the passenger side. This is a serious issue. It is a fire hazard. The vehicle could catch fire while driving or while remote engine start has been activated in temperatures lower than 40 degrees. There is a difference in an uncommon electrical short and a known problem. General Motors is aware of this issue and there has not be a notification to owners in the United States nor are there any recalls or suggested repairs. The safety of consumers is in jeopardy with this known problem occurring in multiple lines of their vehicles. Any with a power sliding glass could be affected.
MY 2019 2500HD (49,00 MILES) TRUCK HAD WATER LEAKING IN THROUGH THE ROOF. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A BAD FACTORY TACK WELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ROOF SEAM. DUE TO THIS BAD TACK WELKD, IT CAUSED WATER TO LEAK DOWN THE A-PILLER, DOWN INTO MY ELECTRICAL FUSE BOX AND WIRING.
Rear Vision Module failure. Open circuit inside module. “Service rear vision system” on radio while backing up. Was intermittent Blut not always on when backing ip
Front passenger window when you push it up it goes up and then immediately back down.
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while at a traffic signal, the vehicle stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that he shifted the vehicle into park(P) and needed four attempts to restart the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact proceeded a few miles on the road and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer who informed the contact that the wiring harness nearby the front suspension control arm was chafed. The contact was informed that a short circuit had caused the vehicle to stall. The dealer stated that the failure was related to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-NA-149 (Engine Wire Harness Chafing). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,799.
Last Weekend was taking the kids and my brother and his son fishing, so 2 adults in front seats 3 kids on the backseat. Got my boat all hooked up and we're off. About 2 miles down the road the truck rebs up really high and then bottoms down hard on the RPM's. As soon as this happens all lights and instrument cluster goes crazy. Check Engine light on, Parking Brake Light On,Traction Control Light On, And I'm sure I'm forgetting more. The Cluster states ESC failure drive with caution, Do Not Exceed 43 miles per hour speed limit Brake Failure and So on. I have since found pictures pf the exact same thing that happened to me that morning and will provide. Needless to say I have no brakes and have a 19 ft bass boat behind me. All I could do was let off gas completely and push brake pedal all the way to the floor and pray that it stopped. Good Lord willing it did. Pulled over asap and killed truck, let sit a few minutes while I assessed the situation and cranked it back up. All lights and brakes were fine. Has not done it since but I only drove to dealership to find out the issue and 4 days later still no answer. Its a 2019 with only 26000 miles, and has never had 1 issue before this
Shift to Park lights Stays on sometimes.
While driving on a two lane road I proceeded to pass a slow moving vehicle, after accelerating from 45 MPH to 60 MPH my Check Engine light, Service Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Service Electronic Brake System lights illuminated on my display. My RPMs increased before shifting gears and I noticed a significant loss in power. Thankfully there was not an accident when the incident occurred; however, if an oncoming vehicle or bad weather it could have been a different outcome. I took my vehicle to a GMC dealer to diagnose the issue where I found out my lifters for my valves are bad and my fourth cylinder is inoperable along with a bad CAM. A new vehicle at 65K miles on it should not be having mechanical issues that can pose a danger while driving, putting others and my safety at risk. GM needs to reevaluate the products and materials their using to build engines to ensure there are no flaws starting with the valve lifters.
1ST TIME ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON HAD BRAKE CONTROL UPDATED. 2ND DID AUTO START AND AFTER THAT TRUCK WILL NOT START. AFTER 3 HOURS CAN START THE TRUCK BUT BRAKE CONTROL TRACTION CONTROL ABS WERE OFF. ENGINE HAS REDUCE POWER. DEALER UPDATED THE TRUCK AND CHECK BATTERY. 3RD TIME TRUCK WILL NOT POWER ON. ON JUNE 2, 2020, MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY AND CAUGHT FIRE. I'M NOT SURE HOW IT STARTED. I HEARD A LOUD BOOM AND WENT OUTSIDE AND SAW MY TRUCK FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 11/15/2019. IT HAD ONLY 4015 MILES AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE LAST TIME IT WAS DRIVEN WAS AT 4:00 PM ON JUNE 2ND AND AT 9:58 PM IT WAS ON FIRE.
WHEN TRUCK IS TURNED ON DASH SAYS SERVICE ESC BRAKE SYSTEM AND SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WILL NOT DISENGAGE FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE AND PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED AND WILL NOT DISENGAGE AND TRUCK WILL NOT MOVE. INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WILL FREEZE UP AND NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE RADION NAVIGATION ETC
AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF, THERE'S LOUD NOISES COMING FROM BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL THAT SOUNDS LIKE RELAYS.
JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DON`T HAVE AN EXPLANATION BUT THE BACKUP CAMERA MALFUNCTIONS. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS WITH YOUNG KIDS AND WHEN BACKING UP WHILE PICKING THE KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL AND AT LOCAL GROCERY OR DEPARTMENT STORES.
DURING NORMAL OPERATION, WHEN PLACING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN INTERMITTENTLY TURNS BLUE, FLASHES, SCROLLS, OR TURNS BLACK. OFTEN TIMES A MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED THAT READS "SERVICE REAR CAMERA". ALSO, WHEN DRIVING THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WILL TURN OFF, REBOOT, OR TURN BLACK INTERMITTENTLY.
AFTER MY RECALL WAS FIXED MY TRUCK LOCKED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND I LOST CONTROL OF ALL MY SAFETY FEATURES. MY LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK. THEY FIXED WHAT THEY SAID WAS A GLITCH IN THE RECALL AND 3 WEEKS LATER MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND MY BRAKE SYSTEM STARTED TO SHOW LIGHTS. THEY RECALIBRATED THE BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL AGAIN.
I HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY TRUCK UNTIL I WENT AND HAD THE MOST RECENT RECALL DONE FOR THE BRAKES. I SINCE HAVE HAD BRAKE ISSUES TWICE. ONCE, HOURS AFTER HAVING THE RECALL DONE I GOT IN MY TRUCK AND STARTED IT AND ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED AND I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AFTER ACCELERATING. THE OTHER INSTANCE WAS A WEEK LATER AFTER REMOTE STARTING MY TRUCK FROM THE PHONE APPLICATION HAD THE SAME SCENARIO PLAY OUT.
TRUCK PARKED IN MORNING, TURNED IT ON AND MULTIPLE WARNINGS CAME ON, SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM,SERVICE ESC,BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE AT 62MPH,GOT WARNING FROM ONSTAR THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH MY ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, I TOOK PICTURES OF ERROR BUT ONLY COULD UPLOAD ONE.
CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED I WAS ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING 65 MPH. HAD TO TAKE AN EXIT RAMP TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH VEHICLE IN FRONT OF AND BESIDE ME.
DEAR NHTSA, I RECENTLY LEASED A 2019 GMC SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK. THIS TRUCK IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR THE 6TH TIME, AND NEITHER GM OR THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CAN SEEM TO FIX ANYTHING ON THIS TRUCK. MOST RECENTLY, AS YESTERDAY I HAD MY CAR IN FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND SAID MY TRUCK WAS FIXED. AS I TURNED MY TRUCK ON, THE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP TO JUST DRIVE IT AND IT WILL GO AWAY. I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A GOOD/SAFE PRACTICE AND GM IS NOT HELPING ME TO GET OUT OF THIS UNSAFE TRUCK.
WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK I RECEIVED THE BELOW ERROR MESSAGES AND LIGHTS ON MY DASH BOARD: STEERING ASSIST REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SERVICE ESC BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE - 62 MPH TOP SPEED ABS CHECK ENGINE BRAKE TRACTION CONTROL I DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF AT THE GMC DEALER FOR TWO DAYS, I PICKED IT UP AND IT WAS FINE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THEN 7 DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME ERRORS MESSAGES AND LIGHTS ON MY DASH BOARD. AND THIS TIME IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO STOP THE TRUCK. I NEEDED TO PRESS DOWN ALL THE WAY TO STOP THE TRUCK.
I HAVE A 2019 GMC SIERRA I TOOK IT IN FOR RECALL SERVICES AND TOOK A ROAD TRIP TO TEXAS ONCE I REACHED TAX THAT EVENING I HAD A BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND HAD EVERYTHING LOOKED AT AND CHECK THEY SAID TRUCK WAS FINE AND THE NEXT MORNING ON THE TRIP BACK BRAK SYSTEM FAILED AGAIN AND BOTH TIME CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR ELECTRIC PROBLEM AS WELL. GO THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY AT NOW. THEY WILL DO THE SAME THING AND TELL ME THE TRUCK IS FINE OR REPLACE PARTS THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. I REFUSE TO PLACE MY FAMILY LIFE IN DANGER BY CONTINUING TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD

ALSO, WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TESTING THE BRAKES IN A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AND FELT AS IF IT COULD EXTEND TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 750.
FIRST WEEK OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD A WATER LEAK BY REAR DRIVER SEAT. WHILE INSPECTING THE LEAK, I NOTICE THAT THE PAINT ON THE REAR BRAKE SPOILER ABOVE THE REAR WINDOW HAD TWO BLACK MARKS. BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN RUBBED HIS FINGERS ON THE SPOTS AND PAINT WAS RUBBING OFF. I STARTED TO RECEIVE 'SERVICE STEERING COLUMN LOCK' MESSAGES INTERMITTENTLY AND REGULARLY DURING STARTUP. HEATING INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR ALL THE SEATS DO NOT LIGHT UP TO INDICATE THEIR SETTINGS. THIS OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR ON THE ROAD. THE REAR BACKUP CAMERA SCREEN TURNS BLUE AND DISPLAYS 'SERVICE REAR BACKUP CAMERA' WHILE REVERSING AND IT OCCURS OCCASIONALLY.
I AM A HEAVY HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR FOR WVDOH AND WHILE WORKING ON I 81 SB IN MARTINSBURG, WV THIS MORNING AROUND 2:00 AM WHILE PERFORMING MY DUTIES I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT OF MY LANE CLOSURE INTO TRAFFIC WHEN MY TRUCK LITERALLY GOT STUCK HALFWAY OUT INTO LIVE TRAFFIC. IT WAS AS IF I WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKES INSTEAD OF GIVING IT GAS. FORTUNATELY I REACTED SWIFTLY AND PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO MY LANE CLOSURE PREVENTING A COLLISION WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH. I WAS LITERALLY SHAKING WHEN I REALIZED HOW CLOSE OF A CALL IT ACTUALLY WAS AND THAT NOT ONLY COULD I OR THE TRUCK DRIVER HAVE BEEN KILLED, BUT SO COULD THE WORKERS ON MY JOB HAVE BEEN INJURED AND/OR KILLED. I HAD TO HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED BACK TO MY FIELD OFFICE. FOR SOME REASON THE TRUCK STARTED DRIVING PROPERLY AGAIN. THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG AND IT IS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE THAT NO INJURIES OCCURRED ON MY PROJECT. I DID NOTICE A POST ON THIS WEBSITE EXPLAINING THE VERY THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME THIS MORNING. THIS ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *CC *TR
WHEN I AM DRIVING MY TRUCK, I WILL GET NOTIFICATIONS SAYING THAT THERE IS A TRAILER DISCONNECTION ISSUE WHEN I DON'T EVEN HAVE A TRAILER CONNECTED. IT ALSO FLASHES AN ALERT SAYING THAT THE LANE DEPARTURE SYSTEM AND PEDESTRIAN SENSOR ARE BEING EFFECTED. AS THIS IS GOING ON, THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN FLASHES ON AND OFF AS WELL WHICH IS VERY DISTRACTING. THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO COME ON IN COLD WEATHER AFTER I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PROBLEM BUT IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE IT BECOMES BOTH A LARGE NUISANCE AND SAFETY HAZARDS WHEN YOU HAVE ERRORS MESSAGES AND LIGHTS FLASHING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW ABOUT 20 DEGREES (FAHRENHEIT) THE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTS DISPLAYING EMERGENCY CODES THAT REQUIRE CONSTANT CLEARING, ONLY TO HAVE THE ERROR CODES REAPPEAR. THE SAME THING HAPPENS ON THE INFOTAINMENT HEAD UNIT IN THE CENTER STACK -- IT FLASHES, RESETS, CUTS THE SOUND IN AND OUT AND DISPLAYS TRAILERING CHECKLISTS. ALL OF THIS IS IMMENSELY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AND CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE HAD IT SERVICED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD GM ENGINEERS ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE (ITS COMMON ON 2019 SIERRA AND SILVERADO 1500 TRUCKS) BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION. I HAVE VIDEO OF BOTH TYPES OF ERRORS.
TRAILER DISCONNECT WARNING WHEN NO TRAILER IS CONNECTED COLD WEATHER SEEMS TO CAUSE THE ERROR THE WARNING CONTINUALLY POPS UP
VEHICLE SCREENS INCLUDING BOTH THE DRIVER INFORMATION AREA AND THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN BEGAN FLASHING ALERTS/WARNING ABOUT DISABLED CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT, LANE KEEPING ASSISTANCE, AND TRAILER CONNECTION/DISCONNECTION WARNINGS. ALERTS HAPPENED EVER 2-4 SECONDS WITH SCREEN FLASHES EACH TIME. VERY DISTRACTING IN THE DARK WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD. ALMOST REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THIS ISSUES.
HAVE ABOUT 6000 MILES ON MY 2019 GMC SEIRRA DENALI 5.3 . I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING A VERY TROUBLING ISSUE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE ALREADY AND HAD A HARD TIME CONVINCING THEM THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK .EVERY TIME I DRIVE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME OR IDLE FOR 10+ MINS WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE I CANNOT GO FASTER THAN 5 MPH WITHOUT THE REAR BRAKES LOCKING UP. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS SOME KIND OF LIMP MODE OR WHAT .
