SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:RECLINER
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured August 15, 2012, through September 10, 2013, 2013-2014 Ford Escape vehicles manufactured June 5, 2012, through August 12, 2013, and 2013-2014 Ford C-Max vehicles manufactured from July 23, 2012, through May 28, 2013. The driver and passenger seatback assemblies may have been produced with sub-standard weld joints used to attach the seat back recliner mechanism to the seat frame. Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seatback, free of charge. The recall began on May 30, 2014. Owners may contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14C03.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to place the rear driver’s side and center seat in the upright position, the seats failed to move. The contact removed the bottom half of the seat bracket to get the seat in the upright position. The contact was however unable to reconnect the seat belt back in the correct position. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 70,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER SEAT MOTOR HAS FAILED RENDERING THE SEAT UNMOVABLE, SEEING AS HOW THE SEAT AUTOMATICALLY MOVES ALL THE WAY BACK, ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH THE PETALS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THIS AND IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS FIXED. IT JUST RANDOMLY HAPPENED GETTING OUT OF THE CAR AND THE NEXT TIME ENTERING THE SEAT WAS FROZEN ALL THE WAY BACK. IT'S A 362.40 REPAIR ON AN INOPERABLE CAR, UNACCEPTABLE.
ACCORDING TO NHTSA RECALL 16V-875, RECALL IS FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATBELT PRETENSIONER CABLES. THEY MAY SEPARATE AND NOT ADEQUATELY RESTRAIN DRIVER OR OCCUPANT IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. I'VE BEEN CALLING MY LOCAL FORD DEALER SINCE 1/23/17 AND THE PARTS ARE NEVER IN! WHAT GOOD ARE SEATBELTS THAT MIGHT NOT WORK AND REPLACEMENT PARTS THAT ARE NEVER AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM?? MY ONLY FORD DEALER IS THE FREDERICK MOTOR COMPANY, 1 WAVERLEY DR, FREDERICK, MD 21702, (800) 734-9118.
THE PASSENGER SEAT STARTED SMOKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON I PUT A PAPER TOWEL OVER THIS TO STOP IT FROM SPREADING. IT BURNED A HOLE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND LEFT TWO BROWN HASH MARKS - ALMOST LIKE IT WOULD HAVE SPREAD TO COILS. THE CAR WAS IN STATIONARY POSITION AND THE ENGINE WAS OFF. IT WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY ON RUNNYMEADE DRIVE IN MARIETTA, GA.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I DROPPED AN INK PEN BETWEEN DRIVER SEAT AND CENTER CONSOLE. WHEN REACHING FOR THE PEN WITH MY LEFT HAND, I SUFFERED A LACERATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF FIRST KNUCKLE OF MY THUMB. THERE IS A VERY SHARP, EXPOSED METAL EDGE ON THE FRAMEWORK OF THE DRIVERS SEAT.
