2015 Ford Focus Transmission Problems

My issue is part of the Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 19N08. The Transmission Control Module is defective and I have been waiting for over a year for a replacement part. The part has been on backorder for several years.

While returning from vacation, my transmission failed with only a displayed message that the transmission was hot and to stop for 5 minutes. I immediately pulled off the highway and parked the car for 15 minutes. The message cleared and I proceeded to drive about another 15 miles and the car lost power to the transmission while in traffic on the interstate.

Check engine light went on 2 minutes later a notification came on dash saying transmission hot safety pull over for 5 mins. Sat there for an hour scared to drive it cause I didn't want to make worse. When I went to drive home it struggles shifting into 1st and not even 3 mins after it shakes into 2nd gear it notifies me that transmission is hot to pull over.

I have read multiple reports on ford focus from 2012 and newer having the same issue as me. I was driving one day and the car started to rev, shake and drastically slowed down then the check engine light came on as I was almost rear ended. I took an obd reader and got code P07A5 came back to transmission friction element B stuck on.

They had issued me a 2018 ford fusion courtesy vehicle for 3 days while working on my car for the recall, as well as the wiperblade motors bogging down to nothing on their own while under warranty.

On june 15th 2019 I was involved in my first accident. I was at a stop going straight and in front of me was a car turning to go south on the street in front of me. As I was getting my first gear ready to go my car suddenly accelerated forward and I t-boned the person turning.

While in rush hour traffic the vehicles dps6 dual-clutch "powershift" transmission failed to downshift properly causing the car to rear ended the car in front of it. Impact was roughly 15-25 MPH.

I contacted ford regarding safety recall notice 18s07 / NHTSA recall 18v-169 and asked why my VIN number was not included in this recall. My ford focus 2015 was manufactured on march 20, 2015, in the same michigan plant and is experiencing the same clutch shuddering as described in your recall notice. Ford's answer was that VIN numbers are the sole method for determining recalls.

The transmission keeps slipping at 2nd and 3rd gear. The shop I got it at fixed it twice and this time the transmission light turned on. They told me to go through this process

Vehicle was checked by local dealer and stated repair code 14M02 needed to be completed. 10 year extended warranty was concluded in June, 2025, but this is a safety concern. The car stopped in the road, right off the interstate, because the transmission quit working properly. Gears shifted very hard when transmission started working again. After parking, the car would not go back into reverse.

The car would not shift into a gear, would not shift gear to propel itself in traffic causing a safety issue. A warning light would come on saying the transmission was getting overheated. Ford of Glenwood Springs Colorado refused to look at the car because of its age despite the recall on the clutch for the year, make and model of the car. A NAPA shop determined the clutches were out. NAPA quoted $4,253 to fix the problem. I called Ken Garff Ford in Fort Collins Colorado at 4809 S. College Avenue to get this fixed under the recall. They said my VIN number wasn't covered, and the cost would be $6,000. I called Ford 1-866-436-7332 spoke to Ron employee #2192738 and was told he would document the call but could not do anything. Ford is aware of the safety issue we simply want them to standby their product and fix the problem or reimbursing us for the repairs to avoid a further hardship to get to work. FORD Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02 - Transmission Control Module I purchased a 2015 Ford Focus for my son in 2021. I PAID WITH CASH. In June 2024, he moved from GA to UT for a job after he graduated college. 2 months later, his transmission went out with no notice. I paid to get the Focus towed to the Ed Kenley Ford Inc. Ford had a Customer Satisfaction Program that started in 2015. There are 7 supplements to the original issue. I called Ford to get some kind of reimbursement since they would not fix the module even though it was covered until June 30, 2025 (3 weeks ago). Ford says that there is nothing they can do since the date of June 30, 2025 has passed. I feel that this is FRAUDULENT BEHAVIOR as my son had to buy a newer vehicle to go to work. Bought this car from Dean Arbour Ford in Feb 2024. Seven months later it had issues shifting and would sputter. Took it back to dealership, they replaced a transmission clutch. Now here it is 1.5 years after purchase. Check engine light came on no issues causing alram, had the code reader put on it said it was the transmission actuator, later that night it no longer wanted to shift. But after a couple restarts it was back to normal. Husband found out that the same code had been cleared prior to us purchasing the car.

My oil pressure pump and tensioner are the issues . I need a new engine replacement. Everything that 23s64 ford describes on there engine replacement claims is what the issue im going through now with my 1.0 ford focus 2015 . I took it to ford to get it diagnosed already and they are the ones that told me and as well got a second opinion through repairpal and they said the same. I have everything documented. Due to this issue I almost lost my life and my child's while driving my ford focus. Lost all pressure while driving with her in the car. Now she's nervous and scared when we get in any car . Due to she saw the car coming rite into her side on passenger side. No warning lights came on till after the issue had already happened . My brake pedal won't go down . Yes, I had the work done in 2019 for the 14m02, TCM recall, and the dealer saw that the "clutch assembly" was worn and not performing within the necessary standards. This was covered by my general warranty, not the 14m02 extended warranty. I currently don't have the repair order from the 2019 fix as it's in my car at the independent mechanic, but can be provided. On 2/15/2021 while in motion and under acceleration events on the highway or the city streets, the throttle will become complete unresponsive and engine will have complete loss of power. When shifting into reverse from a complete stop the car will sometimes not engage reverse and seem to catch neutral and just rev and roll backward or forward depending on incline.

Over the past year my ford focus 2015 has begun suffering a terrible "shuddering" when going from stop to moving (specifically the first shift range of 15-20mph), and esp. When going from stop to moving on a turn (stopping at a stop sign then turning for example) , pushing more gas doesn't seem to help accelerate any faster.

Recently had my transmission replaced for 7th time, car still shuddering, hesitating with lack of power whether at a standstill or on the move.

When driving this focus, upon initial acceleration, this car shutters badly. Seems to shutter more on hot days, but this occurs all year round. After doing research, found that this is a major issue with this transmission.

Transmission shudders slips and is generally sluggish. Sometimes reads in neutral and car is in drive mode. Ford dealerships state clutch assembly and seals need replaced have written documentation from dealership confirming the issue.

The transmission in my 2015 ford focus has had numerous transmission control module updates ( tcm ) which the dealership kept saying would fix the problem which it did not in most cases made it worse. The dual clutch has been replaced 4 time's the throw out bearing, and the shift motors for the fix to last between 10,000 to 15,000 miles and the vehicle clutch being replaced again.
