Your brakes failed to respond properly, preventing you from stopping your car in a critical situation with a large truck. You narrowly avoided a collision due to this brake failure. The issue likely involves the hydraulic brake system and may require inspection of the brake lines, master cylinder, or brake fluid levels.

I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON MICHIGAN HIGHWAY 91 BETWEEN LANGSTON AND TURK LAKE BETWEEN 2:30 AND 3:00 AM WHEN A DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR. I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AT THE TIME. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT DID HIT THE DEER. THE CAR WAS NOT SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND I CONTINUED ON. I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE MUSHY AND LESS EFFECTIVE THAN NORMAL AFTER THE INCIDENT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS I WAS TOLD THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD "BURST".
