On 11/7-22, I stopped at a major traffic light on my way to work and when the traffic light turned green and I motioned to drive forward, I noticed my car had stalled and proceeded to roll backwards in traffic. I quickly placed my foot on the gas pedal to move forward, however my car continued to roll backwards, almost hitting the vehicle behind me. So I immediately put on my emergency lights and pressed the brakes repeatedly, however my brakes were frozen (hard) and did not stop my car from rolling backwards. After several minutes, my car stopped rolling backwards and I was able to restart it and slowly drive off the major highway to get assistance. When driving off the highway my car was moving extremely slow and rough. Since the incident, my car have not been inspected or repaired by a mechanic. Prior to this incident, my car have stalled out at stops and while driving but never rolled backwards or lost brake control.
I AM FRUSTRATED WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND NOTHING BUT ISSUES, I WAS EXPERENCING WHERE I WOULD GO TO START THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER I COULD SIT AND TRY FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND IT WOULD TURN OVER. I LEARNED IF I POUNDED ON THE DASH IT STARTED. ALSO WHEN I AM DRIVING AT ANY ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD LIGHT UP AND THE SPEDOMETER AND RPMS STOP WORKING AND THE COMPUTER PART STATES NO DATA. SOME TIMES IT STAYS ON FOR A WHILE SOME TIMES IT GOES OFF IMMEDIATELY, ANOTHER REMEMDY IS I WILL LIGHTLY TAB THE DASH AND THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE A TRANSMISSION WAS JUST PUT IN AND NOW NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER IT IS SHIFTING HARD AND DRIVING VERY BAD. FROM LOOKING OVER THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. wHY ARE THEY NOT PUTTING OUT AN RECALL. SHAME ON FORD FOR THIS ISSUE
While driving my 2007 Ford Edge on the interstate highway, going around 70 MPH, I noticed a wrench appear on my dash. My speedometer also had stopped working and I got the error code “ODO DATA ERROR”. I eventually pulled over and turned the vehicle off and on, afterwards the vehicle did not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated that their vehicle's passenger rear sliding door failed to close. The contact noticed that the wires had been burnt which later caused malfunctions with the passenger headlamp and brake lamp to fail. The contact stated that while pulling into a stop at a stoplight they noticed smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact drove about a mile and a half at a slow speed to the nearest certified mechanic who stated that the wire harness for the sliding door needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed their vehicle's VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000
While driving on very hot days car would sputter and brakes would suddenly give out causing a burn smell under the hood and would cause my brake light bulb burn to the plastic pulled over got out to check the vehicle call explosed
TAILLIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE, PASSENGER SIDE, ALONG WITH DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL. THINKING IT WAS A BURNED OUT BULB, I REMOVED THE TAIL LIGHT CONNECTOR FROM THE PLASTIC HOUSING. I NOTICED THAT THE BULB HAD TOTALLY FUZED ITSELF TO THE CONNECTOR. WHILE THE BULB FILAMENTS APPEAR INTACT, THE BULB AND CONNECTOR HAD GENERATED ENOUGH HEAT TO ESSENTIALLY MELT THE BASE OF THE BULB TO THE CONNECTOR INTO ONE UNIT. ODDLY ENOUGH, WHEN LOOKING FOR THE CAUSE OF WHY SO MUCH HEAT WOULD BE GENERATED, I GOOGLED "CAR TAIL LIGHT CONNECTOR AND BULB MELTED". SURPRISE SURPRISE, I WAS DIRECTED TO THE FORD EDGE FORUM WHERE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT. NATURALLY, I NEEDED TO GET THIS FIXED QUICKLY AND MY HUSBAND WAS GOING TO THE SALVAGE YARD FOR UNRELATED PARTS, SO I ASKED HIM TO SEE IF HE COULD FIND A CONNECTOR, SINCE THIS PARTICULAR ITEM WAS COMMON TO MANY, MANY FORD AND MERCURY VEHICLES. HE FOUND T FORD FOCUS' THAT USED THIS CONNECTOR, AND BOUGHT THEM. OF NOTE, THE TWO CONNECTORS (1 WAS A "SPARE") HE BROUGHT HOME WERE BOTH SHOWING SIGNS OF DISCOLORATION OF THE PLASTIC ON THE CONNECTOR. THE FORUMS SAY FORD HAS NEGATIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS, BUT YOU GOTTA WONDER. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE POOR QUALITY OF THE CHEAP PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP USED TO KEEP THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTED TO THE CONNECTOR. I REMOVED FOUR UNITS. ALL FOUR RETAINER CLIPS BROKE OR DISINTEGRATED. MY FEAR IT THE POTENTIAL OF A FIRE HAZARD AND SIGNIFICANT ELECTRICAL FAILURE AS THIS IS NOT A SIMPLE BULB REPLACEMENT. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I DO HAVE THE BULB IN QUESTION IF YOU NEED ME TO SEND IT IN.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH AND SUDDENLY MY SPEEDOMETER AND GAUGES ALL SHUT DOWN. JUST AS FAST AS IT WENT OFF IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE FORD EDGE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SEVERE ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND SOMETHING NEEDS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FOR THE 3RD TIME THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR JUST STARTED SLOWING DOWN. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT GOES OFF, SO FAR IT HAS NOT COME BACK ON OR HAPPENED HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN THE HAPPENED THE SECOND TIME I GOT HOME TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE WIPERS CAME ON. NOT SURE IF THAT IS RELATED BUT IT IS UNUSUAL.
TAIL LIGHT SOCKETS ARE BURNT.
WE HAVE HAD 2 FORD EDGES IN 3 YEARS BOTH HAVING THE SAME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. OUR FIRST EDGE WAS A 2008, WE HAD IT LESS THAN A YEAR WHEN EVERYTHING WENT WRONG. WHEN IT WOULD RAIN ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD STOP WORKING, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULDN'T WORK, WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 80MPH IT WOULD JUST SUDDENLY QUIT WITHOUT WARNING, IT STARTED HESITATING, DRIVING ROUGH & LOSS ACCELERATION. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN TO GET IT REPAIRED WE WERE TOLD IT WAS IN THE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER SYSTEM AND WOULD COST AT LEAST $2,000.00 TO FIX AND THEY SAID EVEN ONCE THAT WAS FIXED THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE THERE WOULDN'T BE MORE WRONG WITH IT SO WE'D BE BETTER OFF TO GET RID OF IT. THEN WE BOUGHT OUR 2007 EDGE THAT WE'VE HAD JUST 2 YEARS AND THE #5 COIL HAD MELTED NEEDED REPLACE BUT AFTER REPLACED IT STILL WAS RUNNING ROUGH, HESITATING NOT ANY BETTER. WE WERE TOLD WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER. WE WERE THEN TOLD IT WAS IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM & WOULD COST AT LEAST $2,000.00 IF WE GOT LUCKY AND THE PROBLEM WOULD BE ACTUALLY FIXED. WE DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE NEAR THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED, WE SPENT ALL OUR MONEY BUYING OUR SECOND EDGE AFTER OUR FIRST ONE WENT TO HELL. THERE REALLY, REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! SOMETHING IS REALLY SCREWED UP WHEN YOU BUY 2 FORD EDGES WITHIN 3 YEARS AND THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME THING WRONG WITH THEM! IT'S RIDICULOUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW!!
THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS RUNNING KIND OF ROUGH AND SHIFTING KIND OF HARD REVERSE WOULD NOT WITH BANG AND IN GEARS ON THE FREEWAY BUT THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT AND HAD IT PUT ON AN ODB READER IT SAID P0353 IGNITION COIL C SO I HAD THAT REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS ALL SIX OF THEM AND IT DID NOT CLEAR THE CODE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR JUST DIED I HAD IT BROUGHT TO REPAIR SHOP THEY PUT IT ON THE SCANNER IT READ IGNITION COIL A B C D E F. SO I GOT AN IGNITION COIL PACK WHICH CONSISTED OF 6 IGNITION COILS AND 6 MORE SPARK PLUGS BRAND NEW AND HAD THOSE INSTALLED AND NOW THE CAR WON'T START AND I CHECKED THE FUSES SEVERAL RELAYS ARE BLOWN AND IT KEEPS POPPING FUSES AND THERE'S A DRAW ON THE BATTERY WHICH I HAD TO REMOVE THE BATTERY AND BUY A NEW ONE BECAUSE MY REVERSE LIGHTS JUST JUST THE REVERSE LIGHTS WERE ON WHEN MY CAR WASN'T EVEN ON OR HE WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND IT WAS NOT IN ANY POWER FOR ANY LIGHT SOURCE POSITION
I BOUGHT A 2007 FORD EDGE IN JULY OF 2018. LESS THEN 2 MONTHS LATER MY PCM HAS GONE BAD BURNING UP ALL 6 COIL PACKS IN MY EDGE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLENTIN ON THE PCM AND COIL PACKS, BUT WAS TOLD NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO PUT OUT A RECALL. I CAN NOT AFFORD OVER $2000.00 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. FORD IS AWARE THAT IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON IT. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC DURING RUSH HOUR AND THE SUV JUST LOST POWER. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I HAD NO WARNING OR ANYTHING THE SUV JUST SLOWLY STARTED LOSING POWER AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDNT EVEN CUT ON UNTIL AFTER I TURNED EDGE OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS IS AN ISSUE IN NEED OF A RECALL ASAP! I HAVE DONE ALOT OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THAT THE FAULTY PCM BURNS UP THE COIL PACKS AND EVERYONE WHO IS JUST REPLACING COILS IS GOING TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN SINCE IT IS THE FAULTY PCM BURNING THE COILS AND UNTIL THE PCM ($835) IS REPLACED THEY WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP REPLACING THE COILS ($80 X 6 =$480.00) NONE OF THESE PRICES INCLUDE LABOR! ALSO DOESNT INCLUDE THE COST TO REPROGRAM THE NEW PCM TO MY KEYS SINCE IF YOU DONT FLASH THE NEW PCM THE EDGE WONT START DUE TO THE KEYS OUR PROGRAMMED SPECIFICALLY TO THE PCM INSTALLED TO THE EDGE. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID TO HAVE THESE ISSUE FIXED PLEASE STILL CALL FORD WHEN AND IF THEY ISSUE A RECALL (WHICH THEY NEED TO!) YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR RECEIPT AND BE REIMBURSED FOR COST TO HAVE IT FIXED! THE PCM PUSHES TO MUCH ELECTRICITY TO THE SPARK PLUGS IN TURN BURNING THE COILS AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE THE SUV TO CATCH FIRE!!!!! I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY EDGE IN 3 WEEKS AND STILL OWE MONEY ON IT!
WHILE MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH CAR STARTED SHAKING AND LOSING ACCELERATION. LIMPED ALONG TO NEXT EXIT IN FEAR OF BEING FLATTENED BY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. WAS FOUND TO HAVE A MELTED #5 COIL. REPLACED COIL AND STILL SHUDDERING AND SHAKING. #5 MELTED AGAIN, PCM PROBLEMS. SEEMS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO MANY OTHERS. VERY DANGEROUS. HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING AT 162000 MILES. NEEDS A RECALL
2007 FORD EDGE ISSUES WITH ENGINE MISFIRING. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND I WAS TOLD AT LEAST ONE COIL PACK BURNT OUT ALONG WITH THE PCM (POWER CONTROL MODULE) WHEN THE MISFIRING OCCURRED IT CAUSED MASSIVE SHAKING TO THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS A HUGE DISTRACTION. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD, IN 2016, THERE WERE OVER 3,000 VEHICULAR FATALITIES RELATED TO DISTRACTIONS WHILE DRIVING. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC RECOMMENDED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER FOR PCM REPLACEMENT AND RE-PROGRAMING. DEALER SAID VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 71,000 MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY TOWED TO SUNTRUP FORD KIRKWOOD (10340 MANCHESTER RD, KIRKWOOD, MO 63122, (314) 822-9300), BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED AND DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY BLINKER LIGHT STARTED BLINKING REALLY FAST AND I KNEW THAT THAT INDICTATED THAT I HAD A BULB OUT. I SAW THAT IT WAS THE REAR LEFT AND PURCHASED A NEW BULB FOR IT. I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR HOW TO CHANGE THE BULB PROPERLY AND FOUND SEVERAL VIDEOS FOR HOW TO DO IT BUT THEY ALL SHOWED THAT THE BULB SOCKET HAD OVERHEATED AND WAS BURNT. SURE ENOUGH, WHEN I OPENED UP MINE TO CHANGE THE BULB, THE SOCKET THAT HOLDS THE BULB IS BURNT AND THE THE BULB WAS PARTIALLY MELTED INTO THE SOCKET. I CHECKED OTHER SIDE AND IT IS THE SAME THING. THE SOCKET IS BURNT AND CHARRED AND THE BULB IS STUCK IN IT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN OVERHEATING ISSUE AND I'M CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.
HAD ENGINE COIL FAILURE AND PCM BURNT UP CAUSING $1650 IN DAMAGE REPAIRS. THIS WAS UNSAFE SINCE IT HAPPENED WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THROUGH OUR TOWN AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE REAR TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS EXTREMELY CHARRED. THE LIGHT BULB ON THAT SIDE HAS FAILED 5 TIMES OVER 7 YEARS, CLEARLY FROM OVERHEATING, CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN LIGHT. THE OTHER SIDE HAS NEVER FAILED BUT SHOWS EARLY SIGNS OF OVERHEATING.

2007 FORD EDGE SEL FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTED OUT AND KILLED BATTERY. TRIED TO START CAR AND BATTERY WAS DEAD TRIED TO JUMP AND WAS NOT ABLE, PUT NEW BATTERY ON VEHICLE AND THE FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM STARTED SMOKING AND MY NOW DECEASED HUSBAND HAD TO QUICKLY PULL PUT THE STEREO SYSTEM AND OFF THE NEW BATTERY. THE EYE TO SYSTEM SHORTED OUT AND FRIED THE BATTERY BURNT THE WIRING AND STARTED TO CATCH FIRE WHEN REPLACED BATTERY. NOW HAVE NEW BATTERY ON VEHICLE AND NO FACTORY STEREO SYSTEM JUST A HOLE TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IN THE DASH BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT OF FACTORY ISSUES. PLEASE HELP.

ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DRIVING AT LOW RPM, 25MPH, CAR STARTED JERKING, LOST SOME POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. CHECK ENGINE - CYLINDER 1 IGNITION COIL FAILURE LEADS TO BURNT OUT PCMECM. REQUIRED IGNITION COIL 1 REPLACEMENT, ECMPCM REPLACEMENT, SPARK PLUGS, FUEL INJECTOR, PLENUM, ECMPCM REFLASH, 2300 DOLLARS, AND THEN THE CAR DIED 20 MILES LATER, WITH P0720 AND P0722 ERRORS.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER TWO COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, WITHIN MINUTES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CYLINDER 2 COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING ENGINE COILS TO BURN. FORD DID NOT EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THIS COMMON DEFECT. BUT FORD DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THE SUBSEQUENT MALFUNCTION OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE 1ST MALFUNCTION DESCRIBED.

UPON PULLING THE REAR BULB HOUSING, I NOTICED THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT SOCKET WAS BURNT IN APPEARANCE. OPON TRYING TO REMOVE THE BULBS, ONE OF THE RETAINING TABS ON ONE SIDE BROKE OFF. INSIDE THE SOCKETS (BOTH SIDES) WERE FULL OF WHITISH CORROSION. THE MAIN ISSUE HERE IS TWOFOLD: IF YOU LOOK ONLINE ON THE FORD EDGE FORUM, YOU WILL SEE MANY, MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. SECONDLY, THIS PRESENTS A FIRE AND DRIVING HAZARD. KEEP IN MIND MY WIFE'S CAR DOES NOT EVEN HAVE 70,000 MILES ON IT YET AND IS GARAGE KEPT. SHE DOES NOT RIDE THE BRAKES AND TURN SIGNALS ARE USED AS OFTEN AS NEEDED...HAZARDS HARDLY EVER USED. I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR 2 NEW SOCKETS AND BULBS WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

I WAS TRAVELLING WITH MY WIFE BEHIND ME AS AND SHE TEXT MY DAUGHTER THAT MY PASSENGER TAIL LIGHT WAS OUT BUT THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS WORKING. WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RUN VERY ROUGH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED, RAN VERY ROUGHLY AND HAD ALMOST NO POWER. I WAS IN TOWN SO I DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER PULLED A ERROR CODES INDICATING A FAILED POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH LED TO THE FAILURE OF THREE OF THE SIX COIL ON PISTONS. THIS IS AN IDENTIFIED PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR WITH A TSB IN PLACE. FORD WAS COVERING THE COST OF FAILURES FOR VEHICLES UNDER 80,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE, WITH 97,000 MILES DID NOT QUALIFY. FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE UNITS. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD LEAD TO ENGINE SHUTDOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT COST $2,097 FOR REPAIR. TO BE FAIR, THE PRICE INCLUDED REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS SINCE THEY WERE COMING DUE SO THE TRUE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS ABOUT $1,950. THE PCM WAS A BAD DESIGN PRONE TO FAILURE AND FORD SHOULD ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT RIGHT WITH CUSTOMERS. I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY OFFERED NO RELIEF, EXCEPT TO DOCUMENT BY DISPLEASURE. *TR

THE MAIN CONCERN IS WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT / SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING, THE DOOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. EVEN IF YOU PUSH THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THAT COMPANY HAS NOW DISCONTINUED THAT BULB AS OF JUNE 2014 SO NOW I AM UNSURE IF IT WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH ON FIRE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG & TO PICK IT UP. PRIOR TO PICKING UP, WE FOUND A TSB THAT DESCRIBED WHAT WE HAD BUT WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. MAY 2013, CAR DID SAME BUT THIS TIME, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. TOWED (TO ANOTHER FORD SERVICE DEALER),& ISSUE WAS FOUND. REPAIR MADE. NOT SURPRISINGLY, ISSUE WAS SAME TSB WE PULLED IN 2011. 7 MONTHS LATER, CAR SHUDDERED, & STALLED AGAIN. ONLY DIFFERENCE WITH THIS OCCURRENCE IS NOW THE ENGINE DIED. TOWED BACK TO DEALER. WAS INFORMED IT WAS THE PCM OR MAIN COMPUTER WHICH CAUSED THE IGNITION COILS TO BURN UP. SO, IN SHORT, OWNING THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS, HAVING TOWED 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, ALL IN 3 EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITIONS, HAS LEFT ME WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I FLOORED IT AND THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO OVER 4,000 BUT MY SPEED STAYED AT AROUND 70. I TAPPED THE BRAKES AND THE RPMS DROPPED TO RIGHT ABOVE 0 AND MY TRUCK STARTED SLOWING WAY DOWN QUICK AND I TRIED GIVING IT MORE GAS BUT WOULDN'T GO. THEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY IN THE 2ND LANE FROM OUTSIDE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN IT OFF TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE IGNITION COMPUTER (RPM) IS CAUSING ONE OF THE IGNITION COIL TO MELT AND CRACK. FOR SURE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN ON THIS CAR THAT REQUIRES RECALL. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR BLINKER HAS BEEN REPLACED EVERY 4-6 MONTHS. SOCKET IS COMPLETELY MELTED. BULBS ARE MELTED. BLACK IS ALL AROUND SOCKET. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I WILL NOT PAY THE DEALERSHIP AN ARM AND LEG JUST TO KEEP ME SAFE (CAR FIRE). ONE PERSON SAID THEY WERE CHARGED 98 DOLLARS. THAT'S ABSURD. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THIS SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH NO EXPENSE TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR

THE 2007 FORD EDGE STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEMS, SHAKING, STALLING. 6/1/12 TOOK VEHICLE TO PEP BOYS THINKING IT WAS A SENSOR OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. THE IGNITION COILS WERE MELTED FROM A ENCLOSE EXPLOSION OF THE PART.. UPON REPLACING THE PARTS, THE CAR FAIL TO RUN PROPERLY. PEP BOYS CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE FORD DEALERSHIP KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY OPENLY ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS A SERIOUS FIRE DANGER AND THE CAR HAD TO BROUGHT TO THEM TO FIX. HAS SOMETHING TO WITH THE ENGINE COMPUTER BUT..... NO RECALL FOR YEAR 2007 WAS TOLD HOW LUCKY I WAS THAT THE CAR DID NOT EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. THE FORD SERVICE DEPT HAS RUN INTO THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES AND SEEM TO AWARE OF THE DANGER OF THIS PROBLEM. I WAS FORCED TO PAY FORD DEALERSHIP PRICES FOR 6 FORD IGNITION COILS AT THEIR PRICE, NEW ENGINE COMPUTER AT FORD PRICE PLUS LABOR AT FORD LABOR PRICES, PLUS TUNE UP. AND NO ASSURANCE THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT CATCH FIRE OR EXPLODE FOR THAT FACT I WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS A CONSUMER SAFETY ISSUE, WOULDN'T YOU? *TR
THE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULBS ARE BURNING OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS OF APPROX EVERY 4-5 MONTH. THE BULBS AND ASSEMBLY BOTH SHOW SIGNS OF BLACKENING AND MELTING. THE ISSUE ONLY SEEMS TO BE WITH THE REAR TURN SIGNALS. I HAVEN'T HAD TO REPLACE ANY OTHER EXTERIOR LIGHTS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MAY 2009. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS REQUIRE FREQUENT REPLACING. BULBS AND SOCKETS ARE DISCOLORED AND SHOW MINOR MENTING OF PLASTIC SOCKET MATERIAL. THE CORRECT 4157K BULBS ARE BEING USED AS PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BY US NEW. *TR
THE PTU IS COMPLETELY GONE AND BROKEN AND MUST BE REPLACED, COSTING $2,000 AT MY DEALER. I HAVE GONE ON-LINE AND SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND YEAR. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE. RECENTLY I REPLACED 3 PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS IN A MATTER OF WEEKS. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO STOP BUYING CHEAP BULBS. HERE'S THE KICKER - EACH TIME I WENT IN TO AUTO PARTS SHOP TO BUY A BULB, THERE WAS SOME ONE ELSE THERE BUYING A BULB FOR FORD EDGE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT. AND I'VE NOTICED A MUNBER OF FORD EDGE'S ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT / TURN SIGNAL NOT OPERATING. THE LAST BULB I PUT INTO MY VEHICLE BURNED OUT SO BADLY THAT THE PLASTIC BASE OF THE BULB MELTED INTO THE BULB SOCKET! FINALLY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SOCKET, BUT NOT UNTIL I ALMOST HAD A FIRE. I THINK THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT FORD IS IGNORING OR DENYING TO AVOID THE COST OF REPLACING TAIL LIGHT SOCKETS ON THE FORD EDGE. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM IN 2 WAYS - 1. AN INOPERABLE BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL (BOTH CONTAINED IN ONE BULB) MAKES DRIVING DANGEROUS, AND 2. THERE IS A DANGER OF A FIRE IF THE SOCKET OR WIRING IS GETTING HOT ENOUGH TO MELT PLASTIC. I COULD SEND YOU A PICTURE OF THE BURNED OUT SOCKET IF YOU'D LIKE.
