Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 300)
Electrical System →4 issues
Your heater blower fan stopped working, and when you checked it, you found the wiring harness was burnt and the wires had melted together. The exact cause isn't known yet. This is an electrical issue that will need professional inspection and rewiring or replacement of the damaged components.

When you drive through puddles or wet roads at speeds between 10-30 mph, your power steering stops working and a battery warning light appears on the dashboard. You have to pull over, turn off the engine, and restart the vehicle to get the power steering back. This suggests water is getting into electrical connections and causing temporary power loss.

After starting your engine, your wipers, radio, power windows, and interior fan frequently stop working for anywhere from a few seconds to an hour before coming back on. The problem seems to happen more often in bad weather and doesn't always occur, making it unpredictable. You've already replaced the fuse box and computer without fixing the issue, and the real concern is that your wipers may not work when you restart the vehicle in rain or snow, creating a safety hazard. This likely involves diagnosing an electrical control module or wiring harness issue that's preventing power from reaching these components intermittently.

You received a recall notice for your 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan's electrical system (NHTSA Campaign 14V234000), but the dealership told you the required part was unavailable to complete the repair. You haven't experienced any actual electrical failure yet. The manufacturer has been notified of the parts availability issue.

Air Bags →3 issues
Your passenger airbag system is defective and triggering a warning light on your dashboard. The dealer has repeatedly reset the warning code instead of fixing the underlying problem, and the light keeps returning. They're now asking over $1,000 just to diagnose whether it's a wiring issue, connection problem, or a faulty airbag itself. The repair will likely involve removing the dashboard assembly to access and repair or replace the airbag system components.

Your airbag warning light is turning on and off when you start the vehicle. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as a faulty front passenger seat belt pretensioner, which is part of your airbag safety system. This needs to be repaired to ensure your safety systems work properly. The fix will likely involve replacing the faulty seat belt pretensioner component.

Your airbags deployed during a very low-speed collision at approximately 3 mph while merging into traffic. The driver's side airbag inflated and struck your face, chest, and thumb, though neither vehicle sustained any damage otherwise. The airbag deployed a second or two after the initial contact. Repairing this issue will require replacing the deployed airbag module and having the airbag system reset by a technician.

Your van caught fire under the hood while driving on the highway. You heard a backfire, then noticed an orange glow coming from the engine area. The hood was too hot to open, so you safely pulled over and called emergency services. The fire department responded and your van was towed for inspection to determine the cause.

Your car is producing a strong fuel smell inside the cabin when you're driving at low speeds or idling. This smell is coming from the vehicle itself while the engine is running. You should have this checked to locate the source of the fuel odor.

Power Train,engine →1 issue
Your van randomly stalls while driving, whether on straight roads or curves, and regardless of fuel level. After stalling, it won't restart immediately, though it sometimes restarts on its own while still moving above 25 mph. You've already replaced the battery, starter, and fuses without solving the problem. This issue could involve the ignition system, fuel delivery, or engine control electronics.

Suspension →1 issue
Your rear axle is cracked, which is a serious safety issue that could make your vehicle unsafe to drive and potentially cause loss of control or injury. This requires immediate inspection and repair to prevent the axle from failing while you're driving. You'll likely need to have the cracked axle replaced or welded by a professional mechanic.

Your rear door handle melted from sun exposure and won't open. Additionally, your driver's side dashboard melted and cracked from the sun, causing pieces to break off and hit you while driving. The dealer and manufacturer were notified but didn't offer help. Fixing this will likely require replacing the door handle and dashboard panel.

Engine →1 issue
Your catalytic converter has become clogged, which is reducing your engine's power, especially when driving at highway speeds. This happens when the converter can no longer filter exhaust gases properly. The fix will likely involve replacing the catalytic converter or having it professionally cleaned and inspected.

Air Bags,service Brakes →1 issue
Your airbag warning light turns on every time you start the engine and doesn't go off. This indicates a problem with your airbag system that needs diagnosis. A mechanic will need to scan your vehicle's computer to identify what's triggering the warning and may need to replace a faulty sensor or airbag module.

Wheels,unknown Or Other →1 issue
The rear axle on the right side of your vehicle rusted through, which caused the wheel and brake assembly to become loose. This happened while you were pulling into your driveway after going over a bump. The repair cost approximately $800 and involved replacing the rusted axle component.

Unknown Or Other,engine →1 issue
Your serpentine belt keeps slipping off its pulley when driving in wet or snowy conditions at speeds between 20-70 mph, causing you to lose power steering and triggering the battery warning light. An independent mechanic determined this is a design issue with your vehicle and said there's no fix. This problem has happened multiple times. The belt likely needs to be replaced and realigned, but the underlying pulley or belt design may need to be addressed to prevent it from happening again.

Electrical System,engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your fuel rail cap is leaking gasoline onto the spark plugs, engine, and electrical components when you first start your vehicle in the morning. Gas pooling on electrical parts creates a fire hazard and can damage engine components. The fix will likely involve replacing the fuel rail cap and possibly inspecting the fuel rail connection for damage.

Steering,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your steering becomes difficult to control when it rains outside. Additionally, your left speaker isn't working, your tape deck doesn't function, your driver's side window is slow to roll up, your sliding doors don't operate smoothly, and the right sliding door won't open at all. The steering issue may require inspection of the steering system for water intrusion, while the other problems involve electrical and mechanical components throughout the vehicle.

Steering,vehicle Speed Control,engine →1 issue
Your engine is shutting off unexpectedly while driving, though it restarts without difficulty. This happens intermittently—sometimes 2-3 times a day, other times the car runs fine for extended periods. You've already replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel pump relay, and starter relay, and a mechanic confirmed the fuel pump itself works properly, but the diagnostic computer shows no error codes. The issue likely involves an electrical connection, ignition system component, or sensor that needs systematic testing to identify.
