FACTORY INSTALLED HITCH RECEIVER IS SEVERELY TWISTED. THE ISSUE HAS DEVELOPED OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS BUT WITH VERY INFREQUENT USE. IF THE VEHICLE HAD DONE A LOT OF HEAVY TOWING THIS UNIT WOULD HAVE FAILED FOR SURE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THE FAILURE WERE TO HAVE BECOME CATASTROPHIC. I HAVE COME TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED BY THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO HAVE USED THE VEHICLE FOR ANY INTERMEDIATE TOWING. *TR

DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM BEGAN AS A CRACKING SOUND WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE CONTROL ARM WAS MADE. ONE MONTH LATER, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. ON DECEMBER 29, 2005 THE CRACKING SOUND WAS HEARD AGAIN, THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GAIN MOMENTUM IN EITHER OF THE GEARS. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE FAILURE WAS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT, THEY NOTICED EITHER THE DRIVE TRAIN OR THE AXLE WAS DAMAGED. A HEAVY DUTY REMOVAL UNIT WAS USED TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND ON JANUARY 12, 2006 THE CRACKING NOISE WAS HEARD AGAIN. *JB
