2019 Chevrolet Silverado Ld 1500 Electrical Problems

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ. 5.3 Ecotrac 8 transmission with 89,000 miles. I bought it used and have had it 12 months, but only drove it 9 before it malfunctioned causing severe electrical & mechanical problems.

Twice the vehicle has malfunction at high rates of speed no brakes no steering and almost caused serious injury to myself and young son the second occurrence I record the last 15 seconds safely to have proof of exactly the speed of disengaged control. For this very reason.

I was driving in Highway 85 going south 65 MPH I had my grandkids in the backseat and my truck automatically baked by itself and that electrical system control light came on break tire minor needs service and my engine started knocking. I almost had an accident in the highway I had to disconnect my battery for my brakes to release.

Blower motor quit working and started on fire,truck burnt down

Approximately 1 minute after startup, on a 85* plus day, with the vehicle sitting in the sun, the following failure alarms are displayed on the dash StabiliTrack failure Trailer Braking System failure Steering assist is reduced, caution should be used while driving.

I was given a 2019 Chevy Silverado and when I turned the truck off the shift to park light would stay on and in February the brakes froze with the bad freeze when it thawed the brakes just started locking up by them selves I could not get over 5-6 MPH so I made an app with dealership took it in told them what it was doing they had it a week they replaced shifter handle and bolt and reset codes I get the truck back did not have it 24 hrs I was leaving where I was fishing that morning I was going maybe 40 MPH when the ABS and other lights came on on dash and the brakes locked up again sending me sliding about 60 yards when I ended up in a ditch I tried to get out and the truck would not move so I get out and look to see my front passenger tire completely broke off folding up under truck.

The truck was parked in my home driveway monday afternoon. It was locked. On wednesday 2/24/21 our neighbor alerted my wife that there was smoke coming from the truck.

My truck is just over a year old. Has had 4 recalls on the braking system alone. One for excessive brake pad wear.

When backing the vehicle at night the camera screen is so bright it blinds the driver and chevy has no way of adjusting the screen brightness.as of 1-27-2020 chevrolet is failing to address the problem and it will cause a accident

The rear backup camera is full of static interference at night creating safety issues when trying to back up. It's virtually unusable and creates a safety hazard especially while traveling with my two children. I've almost crashed into different objects or vehicles in attempts to back up the truck.

Started vehicle up from a parking lot, proceeded to intersection. Went to hit my brakes for the red light. And warning lights started flashing.

On june 16th 2019 I drove down to atlanta, ga for a baseball game. Midway I stopped for gas. When I turned back on the truck, I realized that I had lost a and if I get an amount of my braking ability.

Multiple warning screens appear on the instrument panel and infotainment screen. They flash on and off, like a light show, and are extremely distracting while driving, especially at night. Each time they flash on they cause me to look down at the instrument panel.

In cold temperatures, this truck constantly throws error codes 'trailer disconnected' 'lane change alert disabled', and 'rear cross traffic disabled'. These errors are extremely distracting and have nearly caused me to get into accidents clearing the errors. Gm is aware of the issue but has no solution.

My DIC showed a message of Shift to Park. This has prevented me from turning my truck off. I have been stranded on a couple of occasions until finally I was able to push the Stop/Start button to turn my truck off.

Wires were improperly installed during assembly, on truck and rubs on a frame which chafes, which causes the protective covering to get rubbed off causing a short circuit on my wiring harness which causes the "check engine light" to stay on constantly. This is a factory mistake yet they want to charge me for the fix.

The electrical system: truck will make clicking noises after I turn it off and the keys are out of ignition. Radio won’t go off when it’s supposed to. I have fan on in my truck for the heat/AC and it blows out of the wrong vent or if I have dial on high there is nothing coming out.

At a major intersection of several lanes north/south & east/west silverado stalled while waiting for the red light to change. Engine cutoff, would not restart, and situation was high traffic time at a high traffic intersection. Car was towed, problem diagnosed as the electronic sensor would not allow electricty to the starter motor.

The wiring harness of the vehicle was placed too close to the frame and began wearing the wires down until they broke. Once this happened, the vehicle turned off while driving and would not restart for a few minutes. The vehicle would turn off repeatedly every few minutes leaving me stranded in the middle of the street until I could get the truck to turn off and restart.

ABS Brake Assist Module failed. Warning lights and indicators alerted the problem and the vehicle lost power assist braking. I was able to drive the vehicle to the local dealership as the warning message on the dash indicated the vehicle could not exceed 40 MPH with manual braking.

Truck was purchased brand new. Since I first got it I've had problems with the backup camera flashing, going completely blank, and giving an error to service rear camera system. Always occurs while in reverse.

While driving to school which is approx 70 miles from my house, I was approx 10 miles from my end location and had been driving for 1 hour and 15 minutes without issues. I was driving on I-70 at 75 MPH when the truck completely shut down. The engine shut off, brakes went out, steering locked, all electrical shut off.

I was backing up at a rate of 15 MPH when a message flashed on my dashboard saying something along the lines of unsafe to drive over 62 MPH, brake failure, electronic control system malfunction. I hit my brakes and nothing. I kept driving backwards.

It’s been draining the battery every couple of days,sometimes the screen won’t turn off it just stays on but black it won’t even play the radio the tailgate won’t open most of the time the dashboard is been over heating it gets extremely hot I tough it was just Texas weather but on winter days was hotter than normal when I put it in park it won’t it keeps beeping and showing a message to put packing on sometimes you can hear a very thin noise coming from the dashboard ..transmission vibrates over 50-60 MPH

Vehicle has been at dealership multiple times for the same issues and the cant figure it out. Constantly p303 codes. On highway doing 65-70 and truck starts to shutter and drop speed swerving down to about 40mph on highway in traffic.

Hello, I purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Trailboss LT from a Chevrolet dealership on April 23 2024. I noticed a few days later and after the first rain, the back window was leaking water inside. There is a service bulletin regarding this issue, I called General Motors and was told that they recommend me getting this repaired at my expense.

When turning off the vehicle, the DIC gives an indication of Shift to Park warning. After a few minutes the beeping and warning would turn off. Started happening at 62,000 miles.

Trailer brake service indication comes on constantly and cannot see speed use the radio or make a call. Already have changed the switch that they say is the problem, did not fix issues. Other mechanics on the internet are saying it's a wire harness between the switch and the module this needs to be replaced due to poor quality. We'll have a professional mechanic assess this but it looks like it's a common problem across the board. Please get GM to issue a recall on this because it becomes a safety issue, distraction and not able to read speed. Thanks

Rear Window Defroster Thermal Events. Using the rear windows defroster you can hear arching and smell electrical parting making bad or lose contact. I have found other truck from the same year, doing the same thing. NHTSA has a letter from the other truck and suvs in that range. But some how this truck is not on the list for recall.

While I’m driving the truck will start jolting and driving rough. When I looked at the dashboard it said that the parking break is on. This has occurred on several occasions now. I have never used my parking break in this truck because I live in an area that is pretty flat.

Vehicle would stall unexpectedly while driving. Had to pull over (coast to stop) and disconnect battery in order to get pickup running again. Dealership eventually found broken/corroded wires in main power harness to ECM. Appears to be related to GM service bulletin 21-NA-149.

When we go to accelerate, everything completely loses power. It has taken up to 5 minutes to power back up. When this occurs, all we can do is open the door if it's unlocked - there is zero power to any part of the vehicle and there are no noises coming from anywhere. We cannot turn on hazard lights, brake lights to alert others in traffic that we're unable to move or start the vehicle. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No, they're never able to reproduce the issue despite reporting it at least twice on service visits. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - It has been inspected by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Not before it happens, but after the vehicle finally starts up, the dashboard message indicates we should roll the driver's window down and back up again. The date of the incident is the last reported instance.

The touch screen controller is constantly going haywire. It’s very distracting while operating the vehicle. The screen will switch from maps that you are following by itself to the radio, home page or just freeze. The radio can’t be controlled, the Wi-Fi and satellite systems switch on and off at random. There’s many complaints listed on the internet about the issue. GM wants $675 to replace the system on a 4 year old vehicle.

Lifters need replaced and screen comes in and out

2019 Chevy Silverado RST turbo. 46K miles. Truck would feel like it skipped a gear a few times for a few months; I chalked it up to needing a new air filter. Had that and the oil changed. Ran normal for about 3 weeks. Check engine light came on and began flashing, service esc and service parking brake lights came on. Truck would vibrate while at an idle. Truck would not get up and go and when it go to 30mph, it would violently shake and stutter. Changed the 4 spark plugs, with number 4 being the worst, then 1, then 2 and 3. Mind you, the truck only has 46K miles. Got them replaced, removed the negative battery terminal to reset the codes and now the heat isn't working.

Pressed the brake and service ESC/ service Brake Assist/ Check Engine/ ABS/ lights came on. Speed was restricted to 43 MPH, speed was restricted to 62 MPH. Cruise control was disabled.

Backup camera turned blue, not allowing me to view if a child is behind my truck. This is a safety issue because a child could be killed because you cannot see them. I have found out that this is an issue with allot of gm trucks/cars. But gm does not see this as an issue enough to put out a recall!

Started truck had several warnings for Service ESC, Traction control, service 4wheel drive and parking brake would not release

I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 that has been well taken care of. I got into my truck and went to start it and a bunch of warning lights appeared stating brake system failure, service ESC, traction control off and 4WD off. The check engine light also came on with multiple other warning lights.

Recurring blackouts of IOR 7-inch in-dash Infotainment System, ranging from minutes to hours, which render access to vehicle controls, audio/radio, and safety features inoperative, including OnStar, vehicle navigation, backup camera, and other features. Additionally, without warning, radio has unexpected and sudden spikes in maximum volume even when powered down.

The screen for the backup camera is too bright causing the inability to use mirrors at night. I was told at the dealership that they could not touch it.

On multiple occasions while using an Apple phone that is connected to the vehicle via the USB port. While on a phone call, the call will drop, and the radio will turn up to full volume and will not shut off until the entire vehicle is pulled over and completely powered off. During the most recent event the radio did not shutoff even after vehicle was parked and powered down.

I have had several check engine codes on my truck. From what what the dealership tech put in his notes there is a bulletin on this. So, gm recognizes this is an issue.

Service Trailer Brake System - warning code is displayed every time the vehicle is started and must be dismissed. This does not allow for safe towing and braking. Social media has displayed numerous other Chevy Trucks with this problem and have stated "cheap wire harness." This needs to be replaced by the manufacture for using cheap materials.

The infotainment system on the 2019 Chevy Silverado fails when a passenger is using Carplay. While using Carplay for hands-free operation of a cellular device and or navigation the system will reboot continuously. Just prior to the system failures to begin the turn signals will begin to operate sporadically.

We were merging onto a highway from a sideroad & the gauges started going crazy the truck died. Wouldn't restart. Luckily we were able to get off of highway & onto shoulder.

On 2/22, my vehicle had to be taken in to the dealership due to it not starting. My check engine light came on. The issue was supposedly a software issue.

One week after buying the truck in october 2019 an engine light came on regarding the break system, too the truck in and in a few days I had it back after reprograming the computer. 27 jan 2021 after leaving work the breaks felt strange but with no alert I went on home.

Rear view camera on my 2019 silverado wt goes in and out when in reverse. It puts several lines which creating a fuzzy view on the screen. The picture on the screen prevents a clear picture of what's going on.

Display module goes dark, un-operative, extremely dangerous when using bluetooth during a call or using navigation setting while driving. Power windows unresponsive (not stopping at a particular level, going all the way down) while driving. Substandard windshield inside trim, foam coming off.

I have had truck now in 5 times for each and parking brake errors and still not fixed . This is a high safety concern for my wife and me and anyone else who rides or drives on roads with us !!! This truck needs the lemon law enacted especially on my truck if no one else wants it !!

The truck has had the battery die a few times over the past couple weeks for no apparent reason. Then we let it sit for a week and go to start it and all of our warning lights come on and lots of warnings start flashing across the screen stating reduced engine output, etc. The truck won't start.

Vehicle camera system failed once and displayed needs repair service. Working at the moment

The 7 inch infotainment system which controls the lighting , blinker controls and various other controls to include on star connectivity will randomly not work upon start up and not work at all until the vehicle is shut off for a at least a couple of minutes. Some times the blinkers work properly and sometimes they don't I have video proof of this however the file is too large to down load..

When I went to start the vehicle 'service brake assist", 'trailer brake malfunction (no trailer attached) and "service ecs" warnings illuminated on the instrument panel. I acknowledged the codes and was driving away and the brakes didn't work. I had to stand on the peddles to stop.

Purchased new vehicle with less than 4,000 miles was running fine when parked. When it was cranked to go home listed esc failure, service steering column lock, trailering system failure, lane departure disabled, speed limited to 60 MPH. I was able to get home, but the brakes were so hard that it was extremely difficult to stop.

While reversing the rear-view camera turns off intermittently. An error message shows on the display. The display also flashes while applying brakes in reverse.

Started the truck up and the check engine light, ABS, brake, traction control lights were all on with a message in the center brake system failure. Limped vehicle to the dealership to have worked on. The braking system is working at about 10%.

Reverse camera cuts in and out when backing up, lines in screen with a message saying service reverse camera. Went to dealer and they have no fix for it, this is a safety concern as it is a camera for assisting long for a driving purpose.

Putting vehicle in reverse the reverse camera pops up but is extremely low quality, I had better quality on a screen half this size from ford that was 6 years older the screen is hazy with lines running across it, while reversing or pressing the brakes the screen gets glitchy and will even completely cut off and say 'service vision system, I have less than 100 miles on this truck, this should not be happening but it seems the dealers have no fix for it apparently

The issue I have with my 2019 silverado is the rear vision or back up camera. The camera is basically useless at night because the resolution becomes extremely distorted and blurry. The camera will also go completely black while the vehicle is in motion such as backing into my driveway off a busy public road.

Key keeps getting stuck when I put it in park and turn off truck! It’s off and on park but it won’t release the key! This happens every day!

Truck goes into limp mode several times… fuses pop when it does..it does it when I drive or hit any slight bump

backup camera comes on when brakes are applied. Very dangerous at night time while driving as bright backup camera displayed on screen hinders your vision to see the road.

When the engine turns on the ESC light come up and start beeping. While driving the light goes off and later on while driving it appears that ESC is off after 1-2 minutes its says ESC is on again.

This 2019 Silverado pickup truck lurched forward on 2 different occasions. The first time it lurched forward, it was in a parking lot and no damage was done to the truck or any other vehicle. The second time our 2019 Silverado pickup truck lurched forward I was turning around at a farm.

The rear electric sliding window sealant fails in the there trucks allowing for water to get into the cab at times soaking the headliner. When this happens it can cause possible mold in the headliner leading to possible harm to any child seated in a car seat in the back seat. This should be a recall and fix by GM on these vehicles but they currently do not cover the fix.

Truck stay without breaks in the freeway randomly and bunch of lights came on

All my cameras go off and a blue screen comes up weather I’m parking or when I’m near another car. I can’t tell when Of there’s anything in front or behind me certain times and the parking alert comes up but cameras stay off.

Rear back up camera continues to error need servicing.

Brake sensor went off,lights stayed on inside cab,radio screen and lights inside went out,tailgate went down while being driven and tools etc were lost. Radio came on and changed channels non stop for almost an hour even after shutting vehicle off 4 timea. After 8 hrs it was back to normal.

3 issues with lcd display used for radio. Hands free devices and backup camera. !st issue is after being parked for several hours, the display may freeze on its last radio setting or may go completely dead.

Back up camera becomes "fuzzy" when put in reverse in the dark. This happens every time in the dark when there no lights outside/environment. This is really dangerous because what if someone walks in the back of the truck, and I can't see them because of the "fussy" camera.

Door lock actuators.. This can cause a child to open the door and fall out. No excuses on a 2019 vehicle.

Vehicle lost all power while driving for 4-5 seconds.

Truck would not start it would just keep cranking

Service brake system error messages appeared on the dic.

When backing up the rear view camera flash's out everytime I press the brakes and also there are lines through the screen.

While traveling backwards in reverse, the backup camera flickers, becomes fuzzy, or has a white line through the 7" touchscreen anytime the brakes are applied.

I was driving down i10 in baytown, tx the truck began to shake and I was unable to accelerate. I was in the middle of the highway hen the truck just decelerate and I was going 25 mi/hr in a 65 mi/hr zone.

Took truck in for recall to reprogram brake system software informed I have one of the 'few' trucks that will no accept update and apparently working to find solution

When I back up the back up camera flashes out, is blurry, and it seems as if when I tap the brakes it makes the screen flash out causing a serious hazard. I've contacted gm they are at this point I assume ignoring me and refuse to help with this issue on my brand new truck.

Brand new truck an the back up camera flashes flickers, is terrible to see, backing up.gm says its normal. Not normal especially when the catalog says camera is hd 7", never seen a back up camera be able to flash and flicker when the lights are actuated brakes are on. Means there is a draw in the system.

The rear backup camera is faulty. Randomly will get a blue screen (backup camera being inoperable) that says to "service rear vision system". Research online, says there is no current fix for this issue.

When backing up and stepping on the brake my backup camera shows lines and its blurry on the truck screen.

The rear view camera is absolutely blinding in low light conditions /at night. Also the screen is glitchy at best. The screen constantly cuts out and the picture distorts when applying the brakes.

With only 500 miles on the truck/engine oil pressure has been dropping drastically while going from drive to idle. It drops frim 60 to under 30. Also battery power gauge drops well below 14 when originally was over 14.

Rear view camera blury and fuzzy. Very poor street lighting while driving ! Safety related issues!!!!

Just driving lost brakes and esc came on won't speed up

On trucks equipped with the cheaper low trim backup cameras anytime I touch the brakes while backing up the camera cuts out. It's usually a white flash or solid white line but on occasion will cut out completely to a black screen.

Drivers mirror problem can't close or mirror unattaches and opens clear to the windshield and comes lose and moves while driving so doesn't function correct and service steering wheel lick issues comes on.
