Your truck's coolant control valve is faulty, which is causing reduced acceleration and triggering the check engine light. You may also notice the cooling fan running constantly. This problem can cause your engine to overheat and the reduced acceleration could create a safety hazard. The coolant control valve will need to be replaced to fix the issue.

Formal complaint — outdated Android/Google Built-In security patch level on 2024 Chevy Silverado; potential cybersecurity defect and negligent maintenance by manufacturer. I am submitting a formal complaint regarding a critical cybersecurity and software maintenance defect in my 2024 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle runs Google Built-In / Android Automotive OS with an Android Security Patch Level of February 2024 (as displayed under Settings → About → Android version). As of this writing in December 2025, this patch level is nearly two years outdated, with no available over-the-air (OTA) updates and no clear communication from General Motors or Google regarding continued support or end-of-life status. This condition exposes the infotainment and telematics systems to known and documented vulnerabilities, representing both a cybersecurity defect and potential consumer safety. Description of the defect: The infotainment system reports “Android Security Patch Level: February 2024.” Attempts to check for updates return “Your system is up to date.” The system shows a red exclamation mark beside the patch level, indicating a fault condition or known update gap. Neither the dealer nor OnStar/Customer Support can apply an update manually or clarify the support cadence. This leaves the vehicle permanently exposed to Android-level vulnerabilities discovered and patched long after February 2024. Security and regulatory implications: The infotainment system runs a network-connected OS with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, and vehicle bus access. Unpatched Android components are subject to hundreds of known CVEs since February 2024 — including privilege-escalation, RCE (remote code execution), and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi stack vulnerabilities. The U.S. NHTSA Cybersecurity Best Practices for the Safety of Modern Vehicles (2022 update) and ISO/SAE 21434 require that manufacturers maintain timely security updates for all connected vehicle systems.

Formal complaint — persistent, non-disableable Bluetooth transmitter in [2024 Chevy Silverado] / privacy & safety risk; request for remediation and recall assessment I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a safety and privacy defect in the infotainment/telematics system of my vehicle, a The unit runs Google Built-In / Android Automotive OS. This complaint documents technical evidence that the vehicle’s Bluetooth radio broadcasts a persistent, non-randomized MAC address and cannot be completely disabled via any user-accessible control. I request immediate remediation, a formal security assessment, and confirmation whether this condition will be remediated by firmware/OTA update or recall. Summary of the issue The infotainment unit’s Bluetooth adapter emits BLE advertisements that expose a static, permanent MAC address i.e ([AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF]) that does not change across power cycles and is visible to passive scanners while the vehicle is parked and otherwise idle. The vehicle provides no persistent user control to turn off the Bluetooth radio; menus do not disable the hardware radio. Attempts to disable Bluetooth via the system settings are ineffective. The static MAC and inability to disable the radio create an ongoing privacy and tracking risk: third parties can uniquely identify and track the vehicle across time and locations by logging the broadcasted identifier. This configuration is inconsistent with current industry cybersecurity & privacy guidance that recommends minimizing exposed identifiers, providing user control to disable wireless interfaces, and implementing randomization of wireless addresses when possible. The static MAC plus non-disableable radio constitutes a persistent, unique identifier broadcast in public spaces. This defeats reasonable efforts by consumers to limit tracking and to control their privacy.

On [XXX], I [XXX] ) experienced the following issues with my new 2024, Chevrolet Silverado - 1500: • Front Windshield Wiper Washer Fluid not spraying/dispensing. • No messages or symbols displayed on the Driver Information Center dashboard indicating Windshield Wiper Washer Fluid Reservoir low/empty. • Inspected the reservoir that holds the fluid and did not observe low/empty. • Took it to the GM dealer 4 times and they were unable to repair. My vehicle has a recurring defect with the windshield washer system where the washer fluid does not dispense when activated. This issue occurred on a new vehicle and has persisted despite service attempts. When the washer fluid fails to spray, I am unable to clear dirt, dust, road debris, or moisture from the windshield while driving. This significantly reduces forward visibility, especially at freeway speeds or in conditions where debris from other vehicles hits the windshield. The inability to clear the windshield immediately creates a safety hazard because it can obstruct the driver’s line of sight and increase the risk of a collision. This issue is not cosmetic, it directly affects safe operation of the vehicle and the driver’s ability to maintain visibility during normal driving conditions. I am reporting this because the defect is ongoing and may affect other vehicles of the same model. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We took our vehicle to Weber Chevrolet in Granite City, Il on June 26 for an oil change. My husband and I purchased the vehicle on [XXX] from this dealership. We asked if they could put a heavier oil in the vehicle due to this being as one of the remedial fixes for the recall. The service department manager informed us that they would not be able to do this due to it voiding our warranty. They could not give a general answer as to when they will address the recall. My husband and I have safety concerns about taking this vehicle cross country for a family vacation at the end of July. We have decided to trade the vehicle in for a different model due to the uncertainty of the recall. Appallingly, no dealership, including the Chevy dealership we bought it from , is willing to take our 9 month old truck as a trade. We were informed by three separate dealerships that the car is basically worthless and they are not willing to have it sit on their lots depreciating until the recall is complete. It is completely unacceptable that we, as consumers, are stuck with a vehicle that has a potential safety risk. The car has already depreciated by $10,000 according to Kelly Blue Book. We have filed a complaint with the BBB, Illinois States Attorney Office, and with General Motors. General Motors informed me on July 2 that they will not address the recall until an issue occurs. If an issue occurs then they will address it at that time. Furthermore , they are not willing to buy the vehicle back, attempt to see if the engine is fine, nor willing to allow us to trade for another GMC vehicle. We are at a loss as far as our safety, loss of investment, and lack of any help from General Motors. I am adding screen shots of my communication with the general manager from Weber Chevrolet, jimmy Mckechan. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Every time I tow my travel trailer within 150 miles or so I will get a message that the Diesel Exhaust fluid (DEF)is low and needs to be filled soon. Within 50 miles of that happening I will get the message that the DEF is low and will be speed limited in 500 miles. When I stop and fill the DEF fluid it only takes about 2.5 gallons which isn't even halfway empty. When the Speed Limited to 65 in xxx miles warning comes on you are unable to view any other safety related information such as tire pressure or temperatures. I took my truck to Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, TX. in September and they kept a 6 month old truck for 23 days. They said there is an issue with the DEF software algorithm while towing and they don't have a fix. They have a technical service bulletin that tells them to instruct customers not to add DEF until they get the Speed Limited in xxx miles . In other words don't fill it up when it says it's empty. The DEF system is a government requirement and the manufacturer should be required to ensure that their system is accurate and working under all driving conditions.

The interior of the 2024 Chevy Silverado is trimmed in chrome accent pieces. These trim pieces reflect the sunlight directly into the drivers' eyes while operating the vehicle causing blinding reflections. I have had 2 near miss collisions because the reflection from the trim pieces blinded me momentarily.

Rear back up camera and front camera only work intermittently. This is concerning when backing up in congested areas such as busy parking lots and backing out of driveways. The dealership has been made aware of the issue, but I have not had time to take the truck in to get assessed. The only warning I get is a blank screen with a ‘X’ and a camera icon.
