You noticed a strong fuel smell inside your cabin and your check engine light came on. The dealer found that severe rust on your vehicle's subframe and rear cross member caused your fuel tank to become loose and unsecured, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. The dealer also identified a faulty catalytic converter that poses a fire hazard. Addressing this will require replacing the rusted subframe and cross member components, securing the fuel tank properly, and replacing the catalytic converter.
