ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS MAKING CAR FALL DEAD WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEEDS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A TICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FAN BOX LOCATED INSIDE THE DASHBOARD, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE TICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED TICKING NOISE IS DRAINING THE BATTERY AND CAUSING ALOT OF PROBLEMS. THE CHECK BATTERY SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ON FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS ,WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNT TO THE GROUND, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND STATE.POLICE SAID THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. IWAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND BARELY GOT OUT OF THE CAR BEFORE THE WHOLE CAR WAS UP IN FLAMES.
KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK AND POWERED OFF. I AM TO UNDERSTAND THIS IS DUE TO POOR WIRING.
TRYING TO PUT CAR IN GEAR ITS STUCK IN PARK ALL BECAUSE OF WIRING NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE GEAR SHUT THE WIRING IS WEAK AND BREAKS REAL EASY WHITCH IS A SAFETY HAZZARD BECAUSE THEN YOU CAN BE STUCK SOMEWHERE. THIS HAS HAPPEND ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS TO ME AND OTHERS I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THICKER WIRES.

WIRE HARNESS CONNECTION BEHIND PASSENGERS SIDE KICKPLATE MELTING DUE TO REAR DEFROSTER WINDOW NOT HAVING A TIMER TO SHUT OFF. IT STAYS ON THE WHOLE DURATION OF HAVING THE DEFROSTERS ON WHICH IN TURN MELTS THE CONNECTION DUE TO NOT HAVING A INLINE FUSE. THE MELTING CONNECTION CAN CAUSE FIRE DUE TO ARCING CONNECTION.
THE CHEVROLET IMPALA I OWN HAS HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR.... THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL AREA IN THE FRONT HAS WENT HAYWIRE ON ME.... I CANNOT SIGNAL, OR TURN MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON AT ANY TIME.... PLUS, IT WILL NOT START FOR ME WHEN I NEED IT TO, I ALWAYS HAVE TO GET A JUMP FROM SOMEONE, & THAT EVEN TAKES BETWEEN 10-20 MINUTES.... THE PLACE THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM, THE REPAIRMEN CANNOT FIX IT RIGHT FOR ME, IT IS NOT FAIR TO PAY ALL THIS MONEY FOR MY CAR, WHICH WILL NOT WORK RIGHT... NEITHER OF THE TWO HORN BUTTONS ON THE STEARING WHEEL ACTIVATE THE HORN. EITHER THE BUTTONS DO NOT WORK OR THE HORN DOES NOT WORK.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER WHERE THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,446.

ONGOING ISSUE WITH ERROR MESSAGE RELATING TO "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" APPEARED 4/10/2016. ONGOING HISTORY AND SERVICE RELATED TO THROTTLE POSITION AND SENSOR (ALSO SERVICED) CODES P2176; P 2135. 8/1/15 I HAVE ADDRESSED THROUGH REPLACING OF THROTTLE POSITION AND SENSOR; BATTERY CABLE (DEALERSHIP SVC DEPT SUGGESTED LOW VOLTAGE RELATED TO THIS ISSUE - RETESTED, ISSUE CONTINUES) PARTS STORE HAS SUGGESTED "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MODULE P 1516' CODES ALSO INCLUDE P0121, PO2135, P2119 FOUND PMC TO BE FAULTY -- "REPAIR AND REPLACED" 12/30/2014; THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED ON APRIL 5, 2014. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR TWO YEARS. ENGINE POWER DROPS AND CAR WILL ONLY DRIVE AT A LOW SPEED < 40MPH. THIS IS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. THIS ISSUE BEGAN AT APX 140K MILES AND HAS REOCCURRED AT 166L, 167K, 180K, 193K. SPEEDS THAT IT HAS OCCURRED HAS BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60-65MPG TO RESIDENTIAL 25-35MPH. RECORDS HAVE SERVICES DATES ARE AVAILABLE; TOO MANY TO UPLOAD ALL.
REAR DEFROST STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I LOOKED INTO WHY, I FOUND THE LARGE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR THATS BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER KICK PANEL TO BE COMPLETELY BURNT. THE CONNECTIONS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT RATED HIGH ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE AMPS NEEDED. WHEN I LOOKED ON LINE THERE IS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. THIS CIRCUIT IS ALSO NOT PROTECTED BY A FUSE. IT'S A MIRACLE THAT THIS DIDN'T BURN MY CAR TO THE GROUND. THIS IS A VERY LARGE PROBLEM WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF EFFECTED CARS. MINE WAS JUST A SMALL ELECTRICAL FIRE, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE.

AT START UP OF MY CAR THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD SAY SERVICE REQUIRED, BUT IT WOULD GO AWAY WHEN WE BUCKLED UP. WHEN IN A WEEK IT STARTED TO STAY ON. IT NO LONGER GOES AWAY. ALSO NOW Y WHEN I SHUT OFF MY CAR THE RADIO WILL STAY ON EVEN WHEN YOU OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND LOCK IT. I HAVE TO MANUALLY SHUT IT OFF.
HAD PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM DEALER IN ASHLAND VA BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2014. HAD NO CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE UNTIL FIRST TRIP NOT DRIVING VEHICLE FOR A WEEK AND UPON RETURN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. HAD JUMPED STARTED VEHICLE AND GOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH WAS ON FOR THREE DAYS THEN CUT OFF. IN FEBRUARY 2015 HAD NOT DRIVEN VEHICLE FOR TWO WEEK PERIOD AND UPON RETURN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. CHECKED BATTERY AND HAD REPLACED ALONG WITH CLEANING POSITIVE BATTERY POST FOR CORROSION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON FOR TWO TO THREE DAYS THEN CUT OFF - CHECK CODE AT FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP SHOWED CODE P2135 - DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE POSSIBLE POWER DRAINAGE COULD BE COMING FROM AND RECOMMENDED TO TAKE VEHICLE TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM TEST FOR POWER DRAINAGE. AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED/USED WITHOUT PROLONGED PERIOD OF INACTIVITY, VEHICLE OPERATION FOR THIS MODEL YEAR IS ACCEPTABLE.

AC BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR (THERE ARE 3 OF THEM) IS INSUFFICIENTLY DESIGNED TO HOLD UP TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE LOCATION OF THE SWITCHES MAKES MAINTENANCE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. IT WOULD BE ASSUMED THAT THE DESIGN WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO HOLD UP UNDER SEVERAL YEARS USE SINCE ACCESSIBILITY TO THESE PARTS IS VERY DIFFICULT. THE PARTS THEMSELVES COST ABOUT $27 (TWICE THAT AT THE DEALERSHIP) AT YOUR PARTS STORE BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND/OR INDEPENDENT MECHANICS CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE THIS PART. MY CAR IS NOW 10 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 3 OF THESE SWITCHES AT LEAST TWICE AND THE MOST DIFFICULT TO GET TO SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES. IT SEEMS THAT THE ACTUAL LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THESE PARTS (IN ACTUAL USE) IS APPROXIMATELY +/- 15 MONTHS. *TR

IGNITION KEY SWITCH. *TR
I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 IMPALA OFF AND ON FOR THE LAST YEAR, MAYBE MORE. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY GIVE ME AN ERROR OF "ENGINE POWER REDUCED." THE CAR SLOWS TO A CRAWL, HAS NO ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE SHAKES AND IT SPUTTERS UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS THE TPS SENSOR. HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. SINCE I WAS GETTING THE SAME CODES, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY MY BATTERY, BUT THERE'S NO WAY TO TELL FOR SURE WITHOUT TROUBLESHOOTING. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, ALL WHO SAY THE CODES POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THEY ALSO AGREE THAT I SHOULDN'T BE GETTING THESE CODES SO QUICKLY AFTER REPLACING THE UNIT - WHICH COST OVER $300. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WORKS AND GOES TO GRADUATE SCHOOL FULL TIME. I DON'T HAVE THE RESOURCES TO CARELESSLY DUMP MONEY INTO A CAR. I'VE PUT UP WITH IT BECAUSE I CAN USUALLY PULL OVER, TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT A MINUTE AND IT WILL CRANK BACK UP; HOWEVER, IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. LAST NIGHT, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CONSOLE READ "STARTING DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE." THE ENGINE THEN SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A DARK HIGHWAY, ALONE, WITH A CAR FULL OF GROCERIES AND A SON WHO WAS WAITING ON HIS MOM TO GET HOME TO PUT HIM TO BED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ON A ROAD WITHOUT A LOT OF OTHER CARS AROUND OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE DANGEROUS. I'VE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM CARS. AN INTERNET SEARCH WILL REVEAL THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND THE SAME RESULTS FROM DEALERS, ALL WITHOUT A PERMANENT FIX. THE GM "FIX" FOR THE IGNITION ISSUE IS TO REPLACE KEYS SO THAT NOTHING CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE KEY, INCLUDING NOT EVEN THE FOB, THE "FIX" IS NOT TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART TO THE IGNITION. I'VE HAD MY CAR SINCE 2006 AND DRIVEN IT ALL THIS TIME WITH A LOT OF OTHER KEYS AND THE FOB ATTACHED. DURING THAT TIME I HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION. I THINK THERE MAY BE AN ENGINEERING OVERSIGHT: IT STANDS TO REASON THAT HAVING USED THE KEY WITH THE WEIGHT ATTACHED FOR 8 YEARS PROBABLY WOULD HAVE WORN THE INTERNAL CONNECTIONS BASED ON THE WEIGHT OF THE INSERTED KEY. IT ALSO SEEMS REASONABLE, THAT NOW HAVING A KEY THAT IS LIGHT WEIGHT BEING INSERTED INTO THE SAME CHAMBER AS THE HEAVILY WEIGHTED KEY, WILL MEAN THAT THE NEW KEY WON'T FIT OR MAKE THE PROPER CONNECTION IN THE IGNITION BECAUSE THE NEW KEY WILL NOT BE AS HEAVY, AND THEREFORE THE "FIX" IS REALLY CREATING A NEW PROBLEM. WHY WOULDN'T THE WHOLE IGNITION APPARATUS HAVING TO DO WITH THE KEY BE REPLACED AS WELL AS KEYS????? I THINK THIS IS A BIG OVERSIGHT, AND A BIG PROBLEM. LAST JUNE I WENT TO THE STORE AND TRIED TO OPEN MY BACK DOORS AND THEY WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. I WAS ABLE TO OPEN ONE OF THE BACK DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE ONLY. THE DOOR LOCKS INDICATED THE DOORS WERE NOT LOCKED. IF I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEEDED TO GET PEOPLE OUT OF THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT ON THEIR OWN. THE LOCKING MECHANISMS FAILED ON BOTH DOORS. BOTH DOORS HAS THIS LOCK ISSUE FOR ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AND THEN ONE OF THE LOCKS STARTED WORKING AGAIN FROM THE INSIDE. EVENTUALLY THE OTHER DOOR STARTED WORKING AGAIN ONCE IT WAS GETTING CLOSE TO WINTER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS LOOKED INTO AND A RECALL DONE BY GM. MY 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, AS WELL AS THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. BOTH SYSTEMS USE THE SAME ANTENNA IN THE VEHICLE, AND THE MODULE CONTROLLING EACH SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. MANY TIMES A DAY WHILE DRIVING, AN ALERT WILL APPEAR SAYING "SERVICE TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM" AND I WILL LOSE READINGS OF MY TIRE PRESSURES. MANDATED IN 2005, TPMS SYSTEMS ARE AS IMPORTANT AS AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS IN VEHICLES, SO THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I RECENTLY HAD A FLAT TIRE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A BLOWOUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY HAD I NOT VISUALLY CHECKED THE TIRE BECAUSE THE TPMS SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. I HAVE FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH A DOCUMENT ID OF 1990156. I HAVE CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE WARRANTY AND A SERVICE BULLETIN IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE EQUIPMENT WITHOUT CHARGING MYSELF, THE CONSUMER. THIS SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE THESE SYSTEMS ARE IN PLACE TO INCREASE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY ARE NOT SERVING THAT PURPOSE DUE TO POOR DESIGN RIGHT OUT OF THE FACTORY. IN ADDITION TO THE FAILURE OF THE TPMS SYSTEM, THE DEFECT ALSO MAKES THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM USELESS DUE TO EXTREMELY POOR RANGE (~2 FEET). GM/CHEVY USED A SMALL BULKHEAD CONNECTOR FOR THE HIGH CURRENT DEFROSTER WIRES LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE KICK PLATE OF THE 2006-2013 IMPALA'S THAT BURNS OUT. THIS REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO A FIRE HAZARD. THE "HOW TO" FIX ON YOU TUBE LOOKS LIKE IT WILL WORK, BUT THIS REALLY SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED BY GM. TRACED OPEN CIRCUIT TO A WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR BEHIND PASSENGER SIDE KICK PANEL UNDER GLOVE BOX. FOUND THAT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER WIRE (PURPLE) WAS BURNED AND INSULATION WAS MELTED. SEPARATED THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR TO FIND THAT SPECIFIC CONNECTOR FOR THIS WIRE INSIDE CONNECTOR WAS ALSO BURNED AND MELTED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CONNECTOR. CONCERNED ABOUT FIRE HAZARD. *TR

MY CAR HAD BEEN SHOWING THE SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS. WHEN I CALLED SOUTHEAST KIA OF SOMERSET, THEY TRIED TO SAY IT WAS THE ACTUALLY BATTERY, KEEP IN MIND, I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR SIX WEEKS. I KNEW THAT IT WASN'T BECAUSE I HAD BEEN HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR WHATSOEVER BEFORE THIS, AND I WAS RAISED AROUND MECHANICS AND TRUCK DRIVERS, I DO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CARS. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I HAD THE BATTERY JUMPED THREE TIMES AND IT DIED SITTING THERE, WE FINALLY GOT IT CHARGED SO THAT I COULD DRIVE TO MY MOTHERS, BUT HAD PROBLEMS ON THE WAY THERE. AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL OF MY GAUGES COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING IN MY CAR, AND I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD DIED AND THAT I WAS COASTING. SO I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND REALIZED THE CAR WAS RUNNING. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, BUT IT KEPT RUNNING. NOW, KIA IS SAYING THAT IF IT'S THE ALTERNATOR IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER A TWO YEAR WARRANTY THAT I HAVE, BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO FIX IT BASICALLY. I HAVE BEEN SEVERELY RIPPED OFF, AND NOW ME AND MY CHILDREN ARE WITHOUT A CAR. I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT CAR LOTS ARE ABLE TO SEND OUT TERRIBLE AND UNRELIABLE CARS TO PEOPLE WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT, AND THEN DON'T WANT TO FIX THINGS. MY FIANCE WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON HIS WAY TO PICK MY CHILDREN UP FROM THEIR GRANDMOTHERS AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. AS HE WAS TRYING TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER SMOKE CAME INTO THE VEHICLE NEAR HIS FEET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. GOOD THING HE HAD THE WINDOWS DOWN PRIOR TO THE FIRE BECAUSE THAT WAS HIS ONLY ESCAPE. ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES BROUGHT OUT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND TRIED TO PUT IT OUT WITH NO LUCK. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS IN THE AREA OF THE FUSE PANEL AND WIRING HARNESS. MY CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AFTER JUST PAYING IT OFF JUST TWO WEEKS AGO! HEARTBREAKING. I'VE BEEN DOING MY RESEARCH AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO. I BOYGHT MY CAR FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 133,000 MILES. THE CAR WAS RULED A TOTAL LOSS, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, LUCKILY NOBODY WAS SERIOUSLY HURT, BUT GM IS CLAIMING THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FIRE. 2006 CHEVY SS IMPALA STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DASH BOARD READINGS, THE CAR WOULD NOT START BECAUSE IT WOULD SHOW THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE WHEN IT WAS NOT, THERE WAS NO READINGS FOR THE SPEED, ALL ELECTRICAL READINGS WERE OUT OF CONTROL, FINALLY THE ABS WOULD NOT WORK AND THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED IN. CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED AND I OWE MORE ON IT THAN IT IS WORTH. LUCKILY I HAVE GAP INSURANCE BUT FINDING A NEW CAR WITHOUT A SIZEABLE DEPOSIT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AND THAT THEY WERE SURPRISED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH FIRE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING AND SHE STILL EXPERIENCED THE BURNING SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED ON HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22000. VS

THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON.THE SERVICE TIREMONITOR SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON AND I JUST TOOK IT TO THE SHOP LAST WEEK FOR THE FOURTH TIME FOR THESE SAME PROBLEMS.WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR 5 MONTHS AND THIS COINTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AND APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO I STARTED TO RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER ON AT LEAST FIVE OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MORE THAN FULFILLED IT'S PART OF THE BARGAIN IN THAT THEY HAVE RE-PROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS AND HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE FACTORY REP. INDIVIDUAL SENSOR ON THE PROBLEM WHEEL, (RIGHT REAR), HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED, ALL TO NO AVAIL. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS CONTACTS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER DURING THIS TIME. THE LAST THAT I HEARD AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE AT THE SHOP FOR TWO DAYS WAS THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM A SERVICE REP AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONSIDERING REPLACING THE ENTIRE RIGHT WHEEL AND HUB. THIS WAS ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AND I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE IS NOT READING THE TIRE PRESSURE CORRECTLY. THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOESN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY EITHER. IN ORDER FOR THE KEYLESS ENTRY TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY, CONTACT HAS TO BE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND HE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH HIS VEHICLE. CONTACT CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNTIL FURTHER THE MANUFACTURE PROVIDES INFORMATION ON HOW TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAS COPIES OF THE INVOICES IF NEEDED.
CAR SPEEDS UP WITH NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN I THE HIT BRAKE IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. CAR WANTS TO STOP AT STOP SIGNS MUST STEP ON GAS TO KEEP RUNNING. DRIVING ALONG CAR SOMETIMES FEEL LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS AND SHAKES AND MISSES. AIR CONDITION WORKS SOMETIMES BLOWS COLD THEN GOES TO HOT AIR. I THINK THIS IS UNSAFE. DEALER CAN'T FIND PROBLEMS CHEVY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A 2006 CHEV IMPALA WITH 3.9 V6 ENGINE 8400 MILES ON IT . WE BOUGHT CAR IN MAY 2006 AND PROBLEMS STARTED RIGHT AWAY. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2006 IMPALA GT IN JANUARY. AROUND AUGUST 3, 2006, MY FOB KEY STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SAT. AUG 5. THEY FIXED MY KEY AND AS I WAS LEAVING AN EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD TO GET HER KEY FIXED APPROX. 6 TIMES. MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 2006 AS I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR I TRIED TO UNLOCK MY DOORS AND I COULDN'T; MY KEYS FAILED ONLY 2 DAYS AFTER HAVING IT FIXED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF I COULD BRING IT IN. I WAS INFORMED I HAD TO MAKE AN APPT. I MADE ONE FOR SATURDAY BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LET ME BRING MY CAR IN AFTER I CAME HOME FROM WORK EVEN THOUGH THEY CLOSED AT 7:00 PM. I TOOK MY CAR IN SATURDAY AND A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TRIED TO FIX IT HIMSELF. HE COULDN'T, SO THEY TOOK IT TO THE BACK. AS I AM WAITING FOR MY CAR, A MAN BOUGHT IN HIS CHEVY COBALT FOR THE SAME REASON, HIS KEYS WOULD NOT WORK. ONCE MY CAR WAS READY THE REP GAVE ME A RECEIPT AND TOLD ME THAT THEY USUALLY DIDN'T FIX KEYS ON THE WEEKENDS...I HAD THEM FIXED THE WEEK BEFORE AND NO ONE SAID ANYTHING, PLUS I HAD AN APPOINTMENT.*JB
THE 2006 IMPALA SINCE THE DAY WE PURCHASED IT HAS A HIGH PITCH EAR PIERCING LOUD NOISE THAT COMES MAINLY FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE SPEAKER AND LAST ABOUT 23 MINUTES. TURNING THE DIRECTIONAL ON EITHER WAY WILL MAKE THE NOISE CUT OFF. OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES NOW AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REMEDY OR KNOW WHAT IT IS??? WE HAVE ASKED SINCE DAY ONE FOR GM TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON OUR NEW VEHICLE AND WE FEEL WE HAVE A "LEMON". GM REFUSES TO ANSWER US AND DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT KIT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND UPDATED SOFTWARE TO THE RADIO AS WELL. THERE IS RUST UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AS WELL. ALL THESE ISSUES WERE SEEN BY US AND THE SERVICE DEPT 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WE NEED HELP!!!!! WE FEEL THE SOUND WE ARE HEARING IS SOME TYPE OF ELECTRICAL WARNING OR DEFECT. THE TURN SIGNAL BEING CONNECTED TO THE PROBLEM INDICATES SUCH. WE HAVE THE NOISE ON TAPE AND GOT A GM SERVICE SUPERVISOR TO WITNESS THE TECHNICAL ISSUE HAPPENING (6-10-06), THE VEHICLE THEN WENT IN FOR THE 5 TIME AND THEY REPLACED THE AMPLIFIER. THE NOISE CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY 6-18-06, THAT WE DROVE IT. IT HAS BEEN IN 5 TIMES NOW SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT 4-15-06 AND WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE PULLING OUT FROM A STOP THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO READ. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS AND THE ENGINE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THE FUSE BOX PANEL WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT THE FUSE BOX CONNECTORS WERE TIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT AND WAS AWAITING INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON, THEN CAR STOPPED. I WAS NOT FAR FROM HOME ON THE FIRST FAILURE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND A BAD GROUND WIRE AND REPLACED IT. THE SECOND FAILURE , THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE THIS TIME AND WAS TOWED. THEY FOUND A BRAKE SWITCH SHORTED AND WIRE SHORTED TO THE BCM THIS OCCURRED ON 10-12-05. NOW WHEN THE WIPERS ARE ON HIGH THE CAR ROCKS FROM FRONT TO BACK ! *NM
