SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:POWER ADJUST
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position.
Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. The manufacturer distributed interim letters to owners on September 11, 2014. The recall began on December 26, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14271.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FAILED TO MOVE UP AND DOWN. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF OIL. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED SANDS CHEVROLET ' SURPRISE (16991 W WADDELL RD, SURPRISE, AZ 85388, (623) 428-1865) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FAILURE WAS LIKE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V447000 (SEATS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY DRIVER SEAT IS STUCK IN THE FORWARD POSITION. IT WILL NOT GO BACKWARDS. IT WILL GO UP AND DOWN BUT NOT BACKWARDS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH LUMBAR SEAT SUPPORT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, A LOUD CRACKING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE FRONT DRIVER LUMBAR SEAT SUPPORT FRACTURED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,010.
DURING REGULAR COMMUTE, WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY ON THE WAY HOME, THE DRIVER SEAT LUMBAR COLLAPSED WITH A LOUD POP, LIKE A BALLOON POP. I AM A REGULAR SIZED GUY, 5'11", 160LBS. AND I WASN'T DOING ANYTHING SPECIAL. IT WAS JUST A REGULAR DAY DRIVING HOME AND THE LUMBER JUST POPPED AND NOW THERE'S A CAVITY INSIDE THE BACK OF THE DRIVER SEAT. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET. APPARENTLY IT'S A COMMON ISSUE, SOME DRIVERS HAD THEIR LUMBAR POPPED IN THE EXACT SAME WAY TWICE WITHIN SIX MONTH. APPARENTLY THERE WAS, AT SOME POINT A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, GM CANNOT FIND IT, AND WON'T REPAIR THE SEAT FOR ME. DESPITE ME GOOGLING AND SEARCHING AND CAME UP WITH THE FOLLOWING INFO ON MY OWN: "FROM GM... PI0246A 2010-2011 EQUINOX, TERRAIN - FRONT SEAT POWER LUMBAR SUPPORT INOPERATIVE REPLACE ONLY THE SCREWS. A REVISED SCREW HAS BEEN RELEASED DON'T REPLACE THE LUMBAR ASSEMBLY". THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND A DESIGN FLAW THAT GM REFUSES TO ADMIT, NOR ADDRESS. THEY JUST PLAN ON LETTING THE VEHICLE OWNERS DRIVE WITH A CAVITY ON THEIR BACK. *JS
