Your car unexpectedly accelerated on its own in both reverse and drive without you pressing the gas pedal, and the brakes failed to stop it. The engine was unusually loud and continued revving even after the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at approximately 60 mph, with smoke coming from the rear of the car. The driver was injured and required emergency medical care. Diagnosing this issue may require inspection or replacement of the engine control sensors, throttle components, or brake system parts.

STARTED THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. AS TURNING THE CORNER VERY SLOWLY, THE REAR WHEEL WENT OVER THE CURB. AT THAT POINT CAR STARTED ACCELERATING RAPIDLY AND HITTING THE BRAKE DIDN'T HELP. CRASHED INTO THE WALL OF THE BUILDING, AT LEAST AT 30 MPH AND THE CAR GOT TOTALED. CONTACTED BMW AND THEY SAID THEY'LL SEND AN INSPECTION ENGINEER. HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM SINCE. *NM
