Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2014 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan and Wagon, and 2012-2014 Passat vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
Fix: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Fix: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available. Volkswagen owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Audi owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Volkswagen CC, and Passat, 2010-2013 Eos, 2011-2014 Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Tiguan, and 2012-2014 Jetta Sportwagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, debris may contaminate the air bag clock spring, a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the air bag powered while the steering wheel is being turned. This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal air bag.
Fix: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover over the steering wheel clock spring if the air bag light is off. If the airbag light is on and the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement, dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-822-8987.

My car has had previous airbag recalls and on 09/07/22 the airbag error is now populating on my dash and is tripping up other lights on dash. I believe the same airbag issue is reoccurring again and needs immediate attention to ensure drivers lives are safe and protected.

This car has had the clock spring recall fixed a few years ago. The replaced part has since failed (confirmed by the same dealership that replaced it). Dealership indicates this is a free warranty repair but Volkswagen has had this part on backorder for 3 months now since I've had it looked at. How are they getting away with a recall part on backorder for such an extended period of time?
-I was parking my car in 95 degrees a hot day and an error air bag light came on on my 2012 Passat my car has never involved in a car accident I bring my car to the mechanic and it said passenger occupant detection system control module. -This is very risky to others because if the air bags fail I could have an accident I have 2 small child I don’t want my air bags deploy. This is the first time it happen to me before. 2 year ago the dealer replace a harness but the car under warranty am very scare that the air bags can deploy and have an accident.
Car needs new clock spring. When parking vehicle and turning, hear a crack sound and airbag light came on, horn wouldn't work and none of the buttons on steering wheel work. Part is backordered and has been for a very long time. Don't know what to do as this is my son's car (age 19) and it's unsafe to drive. Also, don't want to pay a dealer $165 to run diagnostics when we are certain of the problem and know the part is not available ( was told there are over 8000 people ahead of me waiting for the part). It is unlikely we could sell the car with this problem. VW needs to do something (buy back the cars?).
Back in August of 2015, there has been a repair/recall for the clock spring for Volkswagen Passats. I have had it fixed and it has a warranty on it until 2027. The part has failed 4 times with the most recent failure occurring at the beginning of April. The Volkswagen dealership has had the car since 4/7/2022 and I have been driving a rental that the dealership has been paying for. I received a call earlier today from the dealership telling me that they were having to release the car back to me by EOD 6/10 because the ETA for them receiving the part is unknown. This is incredibly unsafe that Volkswagen is having the dealerships release the cars back when the issue still has not been fixed. I understand that it’s not cost effective for them to keep covering the cost of rentals, but they should not be releasing unsafe vehicles back to their owners. I spoke to the general manager of the Volkswagen location my vehicle is currently at and the only really solution I was given is to have them evaluate the condition of the car to give me a trade-in value to buy a new vehicle, which I can’t afford right now. I understand that the manufacturer has issues but this seems like a huge liability and that Volkswagen does not seem to care about the safety of those who drive their vehicles.

The Air Bag warning light turned on and i called the VW Queensboro dealership in Queens NYC. They told me they have the clock spring part to repair the open recall on my car. However, when i came in on August 31 2021 they inspected the car for 4 hours and then told me they don't have the part on hand. I returned to the VW Queensboro dealership on September 2nd 2021 to replace the clock spring. Within 6 weeks of the clock spring replacement, the airbag sensor turned on again. I scheduled an appointment at the VW Queensboro dealership on October 26 2021, and they replaced the clock spring again. In middle of March 2022 the air bag sensor turned on again, and i have an appointment at the VW Queensboro dealership on March 21 2022. In preparation for this appointment, the dealership told me that they do not have the clock spring in stock (appointment was scheduled over a week before the appointment itself) and they refuse to order the replacement clock spring until they do an inspection. This will lead to a 5th appointment to repair the clock spring, as well as forcing me to drive without an air bag for at least 2 weeks.
The clock spring that's located within the steering wheel with the airbag is defective. I just got it fixed in Nov 2021 and its broken again, and it now Jan 2022. Only 2 months it survived. Each time the dealership fixes the problem, its like they put a band aid on the issue and give it back. Its not fair that VM has these known issues with the airbag/ clock spring and the consumer has to PAY to fix the mechanical problem that was not caused by the owner.
My 2012 Passat was supposedly repaired under a recall action for the clock spring. However, same symptoms began to occur later in time and now it is apparent that the issue has not been solved and needs to be re-accomplished.
The airbag light came on, so I suspected the clock spring had gone bad. I looked up the information on the internet and it showed a recall for my model and year. after calling the dealer, they said i should have been notified, but now my car had too many miles for them to complete the repair as covered by the “recall”. My car has 140k miles and the "recall" has a limit of 120k. I decided to go ahead and purchase the part on my own to complete the repair, as this is my wife's car and her driving with no airbag isn't safe. Unfortunately, there are no replacement parts available, which begs the question... how many of these things are faulty? Apparently quite a few. I called VW customer service and noticed that their website touts how dedicated they are to customer safety and satisfaction. Top priority they say. This was disproven in short order. the customer service person, a nice young lady to begin with informed me that although all Passats use the same clock spring, my vehicles VIN doesn’t' fall under the actual recall, my vehicle was given an extended warranty up to 120k miles. It doesn’t' make sense to me, so i explained to her how i felt that was ridiculous and unfair, considering they know the part is faulty, however the pressing issue is my wife is driving a vehicle with no airbag and i cannot get a new part to replace it, to which she said VW is unable (i surmise unwilling), to help. If the part is so faulty that not a single dealer that i can find has one available to sell to me, how can the recall not include all vehicles with that part? I take great care of all my vehicles, which is likely why the part lasted longer than most. I just need a part to make my vehicle safe again. Any help getting VW to increase proproduction would be appreciated and with a faulty part, potentially discount the absurdly high price for those of us unfairly left out of the recall.
While driving at unknown speed airbag error light illuminated and horn and steering radio controls became inoperative. Diagnosed as clock spring broken which was replaced under previous recall. Estimated repair costs now estimated at $600 and not covered under warranty.
I purchased my Passat in Pasadena California. I now reside in Nevada. The closest dealer to me is Lithia Volkswagen of Reno 1050 E Plumb Ln #110, Reno, NV 89502. This is an hours drive for me. I have called and explained to this deal that I need my airbag recall fixed. Each attempt, I am advised that they will have to check on the parts and get back to me. They never do. How can I take car of my dangerous recall? I also have questions as to the logistics. Do I make a day of this? Would I be required to leave the car for long etc.

NOW I'M DRIVING WITH A POSSIBLE FAULTY AIRBAG THAT WAS NOT REALLY FIXED, MY HORN DOES NOT WORK, NOR ANY CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL. IN MY OPINION I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR SUCH REPAIR DUE TO THE LACK OF VW. VW ARE PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT STAKE. I'VE HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES NOW THIS. NOT RELIABLE VEHICLES AT ALL. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED SEPTEMBER 2015 FOR RECALL REGARDING DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING/ POOR CLOCK SPRING DESIGN. IT APPEARS THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A CLOCK SPRING COVER INSTALLED TO PREVENT DAMAGE. IT APPEARS THE CLOCK SPRING IS NOW FAULTY. VW DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAD SAID SERVICES DONE NOTICED THE CLOCK SPRING MAINTENANCE PERFORMED IMPROPERLY, LEADING TO FURTHER DAMAGE. DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP. IT HAS BEEN A WEEK AND VW KEEPS DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON GIVING US INFORMATION ON WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO DO. WE HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INCONVENIENCED DUE TO THE FACT WE ARE DOWN TO ONE CAR. IF WE CHOOSE TO FIX THE VEHICLE NOW, VW WILL REFUSE TO REIMBURSE US. WE HAVE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER AND WAIT FOR THEM TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO BEFORE WE CAN DO ANYTHING.
TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO VW IN 3/2016 FOR THE RECALL. AT THAT TIME NONE OF THE CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL WERE WORKING AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS ADVISED THEY PUT A COVER OVER THE CLOCK SPRING AND ALSO REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING. FAST FORWARD TO 2018 AND THERES AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE DRIVER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON AGAON, STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DONT WORKING AND TO ADD TO THAT NOW A CLICKING SOUND WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. VVW SAYS IM OUTSIDE WARRANTY ON RECALLED PARTS AND I'M THE ONE THAT WILL BE OUT OF POCKET ON THE $700 REPAIR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE DAMAGES HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,298.
WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE TAKATA RECALL, SERVICE DEPT. TOLD US THE CLOCKSPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER BEING CHARGED MORE THAN $400, WE LOOKED INTO IT TO DISCOVER THAT IT HAD BEEN REPLACED UNDER A DIFFERENT RECALL IN 2016. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, WE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER VW OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. WE'D LIKE TO BE ADDED TO THE LIST OF CUSTOMERS WHO DIDN'T RECEIVE ADEQUATE REPAIRS UNDER SAFETY RECALL #69L2, AND TO FIND OUT WHAT THE STATUS IS ON THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER.
CLOCKSPRING FAILED 6 MONTHS AFTER I GOT IT FIXED UNDER RECALL. LITTLE NOISE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL, AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, HORN AND ALL STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DO NOT WORK.
STEERING WHEEL, UPON PARKING, MADE A STRANGE NOISE AND THEN WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A BREAK OF A PLASTIC CLIP. NOISE CONTINUED AS I TURNED WHEEL THE OTHER WAY. ERROR ON DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG APPEARED ON DISPLAY AS WELL AIR BAG ICON APPEARING ON CONSOLE. IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IF CAR SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WAS ONLY 2 MILES AWAY SO I DID AND THEY WERE NICE ENOUGH TO LOOK AT CAR RIGHT THEN. TURNED OUT TO BE CLOCKSPRING WHICH HAD BEEN REPLACED IN FEBRUARY OF 2016, AN INITIAL RECALL OF CLOCK SPRING. SO NOW THE RECALL WORKAROUND NEEDS A WORKAROUND.
THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING WAS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2017 BUT FAILED AGAIN IN MAY OF 2018. FROM WHAT I AM SEEING ON THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON RECALL FAILURE WITH THIS VEHICLE. VW CUSTOMER CARE AND ITS WARRANTY DEPT WILL COVER THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT PART BUT NOT LABOR.
MY VEHCILE WAS RECALLED FOR A DEFECTIVE CLOCKSPRING. THE REMEDY WAS TO REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND INSTALL A SHIELD IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS OFF. MY VEHCILE DID NOT HAVE A LIGHT SO A SHIELD WAS INSTALLED OVER THE DEFECTIVE (BUT NOT YET FAILED) CLOCKSPRING. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE CLOCKSPRING HAS FAILED AND VOLKSWAGEN REFUSED TO REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING PER THE RECALL. VW STATED THAT ONCE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, EITHER WAY, THAT IS IT COMPLETED AND THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. THE RECALL DOES NOT STATE THAT ONCE A SHIELD IS INSTALLED THAT YOU CAN NEVER AGAIN BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. I THINK THIS PRACTICE OF "SHIELDING" AGAINST THE FUTURE FAILURE OF A DEFECTIVE PART IS NOT SAFE OR FAIR. I THINK THAT A RECALL THAT HAS MORE THAN ONE REMEDY SHOULD REMAIN OPEN TO THE OTHER REMEDY IF THOSE CONDITIONS ARE MET.
TAKATA INFLATORS WERE CHANGED DUE TO RECALL IN JAN 2018. IN APRIL 2018 I HEARD A STRANGE NOISE & THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THEN I REALIZED THAT ONLY INFO SHOWING ON MY PANEL WAS THE PHONE HOOKUP, ALONG WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I CHECKED THE HORN & THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER. AFTER CHECKING FUSES WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & MADE AN APPT TO HAVE IT CHECKED. WE ARE TOLD IT IS THE CLOCKSPRING THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. COST IS OVER $500. WE CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE & THEY STAYED WE HAD THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACED IN 2016 UNDER A RECALL. HOWEVER WE HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF THIS BEING DONE. THIS NOISE & THEN THE CLICKING & OTHER ISSUES CONNECTED TO THE CLOCK SPRING HAPPENED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT IN A SHOPPING AREA. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS BEING THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF & WHEN NEEDED. ALSO I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A VEHICLE THAT DECIDED TO BACKUP WITHOUT LOOKING & I COULDN'T USE MY HORN TO WARN THE OTHER DRIVER. THANK GOD HE REALIZED WHAT HE WAS DOING. AS FOR THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THEY REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING IN MAY OF 2016, MY QUESTION IS WHY WAS THAT REPLACED THEN & NOT THE AIRBAGS? ALSO, BEING THERE WAS RECALL ON THE AIRBAG & IT WAS BEING DONE, WHY DIDN'T THEY REDO THE CLOCK SPRING. I LOVE THE PASSAT BUT I DON'T WANT TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF SHODDY WORKMANSHIP! CLOCK SPRING WAS CHANGED IN 2016 AND TAKATA RECALL AIRBAG WAS CHANGED IN MARCH. AFTER THE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED I HEARD CLICKING NOISES WHEN TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL AND NOW MY AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT IS ON. MY HORN DOESNT WORK AND MY BUTTONS TO CONTROL RADIO DO NOT WORK. I BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TAKATA RECALL WAS DONE AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH OPEN BROKEN CLOCK SPRING AND POWER STEERING GEAR BROKEN. THEY DO NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONISBILITY FOR THE CLOCK SPRING SINCE IT WAS CHANGED IN 2016. I HAVE MADE A CASE WITH VOLKSWAGEN AGAINST THIS PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP.
STEERING WHEELING CLOCK SPRING HAS FAILED FOLLOWING RECALL REPAIR, VOLKSWAGEN REFUSES TO COVER, QUOTED ME $1,500.00
WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I HEARD A LOUD POP COME FROM THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, AN ALARM CAME UP FOR "AIRBAG ERROR". ALSO, ALL OTHER FUNCTIONALITY ON MY STEERING WHEEL WAS DISABLED, INCLUDING THE BLUETOOTH ACCESS, RADIO BUTTONS, ETC. I CONTACTED MY VW DEALERSHIP (BOUCHER VW IN RACINE, WI) AND THEY STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING AND THAT THE AIR BAG IS NOT FUNCTIONAL IF THIS ALARM IS ACTIVE. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COVERED AS A PART OF THE RECALL (I BELIEVE THE RECALL NUMBER IS 15V-483) AND THEY STATED IT WAS NOT AND THAT THE ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $550. I ASKED WHY THIS WAS NOT COVERED AS A PART OF THE RECALL BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED AN EXPLANATION. I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THIS QUESTION WHEN I TAKE THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2012 PASSAT ON 8/4/15 FOR THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING, WHICH PROVIDES POWER TO THE AIRBAG. THE RECALLED PART WAS REPLACED ON OUR VEHICLE IN JAN. 2016, IT WENT OUT AGAIN IN DEC. 2017 AND NOW THE MANUFACTURER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED AS THE PART IS ONLY WARRANTIED FOR 1 YEAR. REALLY?? YOU REPLACED ONE JUNK PART WITH ANOTHER ONE AND NOW WON'T STAND BEHIND IT. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG DOESN'T DEPLOY WHILE MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THE CAR. REALLY SAD WAY OF DOING BUSINESS, THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL OR WARRANTY FOR THE CLOCK SPRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,300.

I DID CONTACT VW DIRECTLY AS DID THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID THE REPAIR...WE WERE BOTH TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED.

I REPORTED TO GOSSETT VW SERVICE AGENT JEFF WHO SAID MY RECALL DATE WAS 09/30/2017. 08/25/2017 AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHED THIS ONE TIME. THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR CAME ON 09/13/2017 SO I DROVE TO GOSSETT TO HAVE MY TIRES INFLATED. THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT RE-SET THE INDICATOR IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT PER JENNIFER OSBOURN/SERVIDE AGENT AS IT WAS LOCKED. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AGAIN ON 09/16/17 THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, SEAT BELT PRETENSIOR & LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. GOT APPOINTMENT ON 09/22/17 TO HAVE THEIR WORK INSPECTED. I ALSO ASKED FOR AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR THE TAKATA AIRBAG. ON 09/22/17 GOSSETT REFUSED TO TOUCH THE CAR UNLESS I PAID THEM $140.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. FOLLOWING THE DIAGNOSTIC I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ANOTHER $140.00 TO CLEAN DIRT FROM THE SHORT TO THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. NO PROBLEMS EXISTED PRIOR TO THE 09/13/ VISIT TO INFLATE THE TIRES. TOTAL PAID WAS $340.41. FOLLOWING THIS VISIT THE RE-SET IS INOPERABLE, THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR, SEAT BELT, AIRBAG AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND FLASH IN AND OUT DURING DRIVING. I PHONED VW CUSTOMER CARE, VERIFIED MY ADDRESS AND REQUESTED A LETTER FROM THEM AFTER RENEWING MY REGISTRATION BUT NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER TO THIS DAY. AUGUST 25, 2017 THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. SEPTEMBER 13, 2017 THE LOW TIRE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO GOSSETT VW, HAD THE TIRES INFLATED AND WHEN I DROVE THE VEHICLE TWO DAYS LATER THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL/TIRE PRESSURE/ AND SEATBELT LIGHTS WERE CONTINUALLY FLASHING. I SPOKE TO AN ADVOCATE VIA CHAT ON VW'S SEB SITE. SHE AUTHORIZED THE AIRBAG REPAIR ON 09/22/2017. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $341.00 TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS BUT TO DATE, 09/27/2017 THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT AND THE FILE WAS CLOSED ON 09/25/2017. I PHONED CUSTOMER CARE EARLIER TODAY, WEDNESDAY, 09/27/2017 AND REOPENED THE CASE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 38,415 MILES ON IT. THE REPAIR REPORT ACCORDING TO SERVICE AGENT J.O. CLAIMED THEY FOUND A SHORT TO THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT SENSOR CAUSING THE ABS LIGHT, TIRE LIGHT, AND TRACTION LIGHT. CORRECTION: REPAIRED SHORT AND CLEANED RIGHT REAR SPEED SENSOR AND BEARING. ON 09/22, THE BOTTOM DRIVER TAKATA AIRBAG WAS PERFORMED. NOT ONLY ARE THE SAME LIGHTS ALARMING EACH TIME I TURN ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS MORNING THE ESP ERROR LIGHT FLASHED. VW CUSTOMER CARE WAS ADVISED AND REOPENED THE COMPLAINT. FOLLOWING THE SERVICE VISIT I DISCOVERED A BROKEN PART WITH VW # 8E0.881.348.E ON THE RIGHT FLOOR MAT OF THE CAR. THIS IS ALARMING. I WAS ADVISED AN ADVOCATE FROM VW CORPORATE SHOULD BE CALLING ME IN RESPONSE TO THIS HORRIFIC ORDEAL. THESE INCIDENCES OCCURRED 2 WEEKS AFTER THE CERTIFIED PRE- OWNED WARRANTY EXPIRED. NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE BEFORE THIS. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN WHO IS EXTREMELY ALARMED WITH THIS MATTER.

I RECEIVED THE FIRST NOTICE THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE UNDER RECALL, BUT NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I ASKED FOR A LOANER CAR AND I WAS REJECTED. I ALSO ASKED FOR VW TO BUY BACK MY VEHICLE AND I WAS ALSO REJECTED. IN MARCH 2017, I RECEIVED AN ANOTHER NOTICE ASKING ME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED ASAP. I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AND I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS IN STOCK AND THEY CANNOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME. I CALLED VW BACK AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY CONCERN, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR AND I CANNOT SELL IT BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO PURCHASE IT DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERNS ABOUT THE VEHICLE. VW TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP. NO LOANER CAR AND NO REPURCHASE. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR CHOOSING THIS VENDOR AND THAT EVERYONE DRIVING VW VEHICLE BE REIMBURSED FOR MONEY BEING SPENT ON A FINANCED VEHICLE OR VEHICLE THEY HAVE PURCHASED THAT'S BEING AFFECTED. WE BUY CARS THAT FIT OUR PERSONAL NEEDS. FAMILY SIZE, GAS SAVER ETC. WE ALREADY TAKE A RISK IN DRIVING ANYWAY SO WHY SHOULD WE BE TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL THE THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED KNOWING WHAT THE POTENTIAL OUTCOME COULD BE. IF THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE WERE AS HIGH AS THEY INTEND US TO BELIEVE THEN THIS ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED BY NOW REGARDLESS HOW MANY AFFECTED. IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO MONEY WITH THE PEOPLE BEING SECOND. A SECOND DEALER TOLD ME 5 A MONTH ARE BEING ALLOTTED. MY HUSBAND & I BOTH CALLED VW 248-754-5000. TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS TO CUSTOMER SERVICE WE WERE TOLD THAT NHTSA WAS CONTROLLING THE DISTRIBUTION NUMBER AKA ALLOTMENT NUMBER OF REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS PER DEALER. I WAS DENIED THE RIGHT TO SPEAK TO UPPER LEVEL LEADERSHIP AT VW. WE SPOKE TO LIBBY AND CORY. WE ARE IN HOUSTON AREA 3 MILLION PLUS POPULATION. WE WERE ALSO INSTRUCTED BY DEALER THAT WE NEEDED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING OUR CAR IN FOR AIRBAG INSPECTION AND PART VERIFICATION WHICH INVOLVED DISMANTLING OUR VEHICLE TO CHECK IF REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY AND IF SO WE WOULD BE PLACED ON A LIST WHICH WE MAY OR MAY NOT BE CALLED THAT AIRBAGS SHOWING STRESS WOULD BE REPLACED. THE OTHER DEALER TOLD MY HUSBAND NO AIRBAGS IN HOUSE AND ONLY 3-4 A MONTH WERE BEING ALLOTTED. VW STATES ONLY VIN, MAKE AND MODEL NUMBER ARE NECESSARY FOR REPLACEMENT. IN OUR CASE 2012 PASSAT IS IN QUESTION. VW HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE DISMANTLING AND SELECTIVE, PRIORITY REPLACEMENT OF AIRBAGS. IS IT TRUE THAT DEALERS IN HOUSTON AREA ARE BEING DISTRIBUTED A VERY LIMITED NUMBER (SINGLE DIGIT) OF REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AT THE DIRECTION OF NHTSA IN THE HOUSTON 3 MILLION PLUS POPULATION METROPLEX? THEY ALSO STATED THAT GIVEN THE MAGNITUDE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HOW MANY VEHICLES NEED AIRBAGS REPLACED, THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHEN I WILL BE ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED. THEY INDICATED THAT THEY ARE FIXING VEHICLES IN HIGH PRIORITY ZONES FIRST. HOWEVER, JUST LAST MONTH GOT AROUND TO SENDING OUT LETTERS TO ALLOW VEHICLES TO BE REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH THIS PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED A YEAR AGO. I CALLED CUSTOMER CARE AND ASKED FOR A TIME-FRAME FOR THE FIX AND RECEIVED NONE. I ASKED FOR A LOANER AND WAS TOLD TO REQUEST ONE FROM THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. A WEEK AFTER LEAVING A MESSAGE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THEY DON'T HAVE LOANER CARS THAT DON'T HAVE AIRBAGS IN THEM THAT ARE NOT IMPACTED, SO IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I WAITED A MONTH AND CHECKED VW'S WEBSITE AND THERE IS ZERO INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE PARTS OR WHEN THIS WILL BE FIXED. I OPENED A CHAT WITH VW CUSTOMER CARE ON 4/15 AND RECEIVED A COPY AND PASTE RESPONSE TO MY CONCERNS, WHICH STATED NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE. I WAS ALSO AGAIN DENIED A LOANER CAR WHICH WAS SAFE IN THE INTERIM. I FEEL THAT VW AND TAKATA ARE NOT TAKING THE MATTER SERIOUSLY OR MOVING IN A FAST ENOUGH MANNER. I UNDERSTAND THE SCOPE OF THIS, BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE URGENCY IN THAT PEOPLE ARE DYING AND OTHER ARE DRIVING UNSAFE CARS. VW SHOULD HAVE LOANER CARS AVAILABLE ALONG WITH A TIMELINE OF THEFIX IN PLACE AT THIS POINT AS THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED LAST YEAR. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THEIR HANDLING. I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS NOT AT FAULT, BUT I WAS T-BONED WITH ALMOST OVER $11,000 IN DAMAGE. THE CASE WAS SETTLED BUT THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF IN THE ACCIDENT AND I JUST RECEIVED A RECALL FOR A STEERING WHEEL ELECTRONIC CLOCK ISSUE THAT COULD PREVENT THE AIR BAGS FROM GOING OFF. DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CAN NOT LOOK AT IT FOR FOUR DAYS, UNTIL MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2015. NO LOANER CAR WAS PROVIDED AFTER REQUEST OF SUCH.

I HEARD A CLICK WHEN I WAS TRURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THE AIRBAG MESSAGE APPEARED .

BEING MECHANICAL IN NATURE I ASSUMED THE CLOCKSPRING BUT NEVER IMAGINED THAT IT WOULD FAIL WITH SO LITTLE MILES OR AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER. I CALLED VW AND TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND THE CLOCKSPRING WAS THE ISSUE.

THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH FROZE SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN THIS YEAR AFTER DOING IT THREE TIMES LAST YEAR. THE LATCH FROZE EVERY TIME THERE WAS MOISTURE (FOG, SNOW ,RAIN, ETC.) PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, I FELT A CLICK VIBRATION ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND THEN A MESSAGE FLASHED ON THE DASH SCREEN: AIRBAG: ERROR NONE OF THE ELECTRONIC SWITCHES ON THE STEERING COLUMN FUNCTION, NO AIRBAG AVAILABILITY, NO HORN. I TOOK IT TO THE ONION CREEK DEALERSHIP IN AUSTIN, TX AND THEY QUICKLY FOUND WHAT WAS A QUICK, BUT EXPENSIVE FIX CAN BE DONE. $700 TO FIX. WHEN I INQUIRED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND REQUESTED THEY COVER THE COST, THEY BALKED. I CONTACTED VW USA, THEY EVENTUALLY AGREED TO COVER 75% OF THE COST, THEN LATER RESCINDED THE OFFER BECAUSE THE LADY AT VW USA DECIDED SHE DIDN'T WANT TO COVER IT AND I HAD NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER. WHEN THEY DID OFFER TO PAY THE 75%, I HAD AGREED TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO NEGOTIATE FOR GREATER COVERAGE, I SUPPOSE SHE DID NOT LIKE THAT. *TR
