Your 2019 Tundra's built-in navigation system has outdated map data that cannot be updated wirelessly, and it recently gave you incorrect directions that routed you into a remote area with no cell service. This caused a potentially dangerous situation where you could have run out of fuel and been stranded. The navigation system needs updated maps to function safely and reliably.

Your truck is displaying three warning lights related to collision avoidance and back-over prevention systems, but the dealership couldn't find a problem when they checked it. This suggests a sensor or electrical issue with these safety features that may require further diagnostic testing to locate the root cause.

You purchased your truck in January 2019 with 210 miles on it, but the dealer listed only 10 miles on the purchase contract and window sticker. The dealer also removed the standard remote keyless entry system that should have come with the vehicle according to the window sticker. You believe these actions may constitute fraud or misrepresentation by the dealer. This issue involves potential dealer practices rather than a vehicle defect.

We were driving down an unpaved road at 8 mph in 4WDh in our 2019 Toyota Tundra when I heard a couple popping sounds from inside the car. Then it stopped. I opened the passenger side door to get out and check on the truck, and flames were pouring out under the engine. There were 3 of us in the car. We immediately got out and tried to pour water and throw sand on the fire. It grew very quickly, so we ran away. The car was immediately engulfed in flames like something out of a movie with black smoke going high into the air. Within 5-10 minutes, the truck was totally gone. There were no warning signs/lights other than the 2 pops and then fire/explosion. We are very lucky we did not die. We bought it brand new. It was the first new car we’ve ever owned. It was impeccably cared for. We always brought it to the Toyota dealership in Eugene, OR for service. It was there about a month prior to the explosion. During that visit, they replaced the battery as well as dealt with the halogen light recall. Other things were more routine maintenance. We are in shock and do not want this to happen to others. We also do not know what our next steps are, but we wanted your agency to be aware of this issue. The local dealership said it must have been a car defect or bad workmanship at our last service. Either way, it was terrifying.

A technical safety bulletin was issue for this issue (T-SB-0036-19). On a recent trip in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, my wife and I were pulling a travel trailer with LED lights and noticed that the trailer disconnected warning come on. We thought it was a loose cable and pulled over to check the plug. We started home after our trip and had this occur several times on step grades. The scary issue is the lights continue to work indicating that it’s still connected, however when I checked the manual brake controller there were no brakes! There were no areas to pull over. Once we were able to pullover safely, we checked the connection again and it was still secure. This occurred again on I-40 as we approached and accident scene with sudden braking. Then it disappeared again. We made it safely home and I started researching the issue and found the bulletin. I took it to Toyota to complete but it’s still an optional bulletin. This is an enormous safety issue considering a 5400 pound truck capable of towing a 9200 pound trailer at highway speeds with no braking or access to the first step to stop trailer sway.

I OWN A 2019 TOYOTA TUNDRA. MY HANDS FREE BLUETOOTH BEGAN DISCONNECTING AND RESTARTING MY RADIO. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY IPHONE 8 SO I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW PHONE IPHONE XR. STILL DISCONNECTING FROM HANDSFREE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME ITS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TO BUY AN ANDROID PHONE. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED TOYOTA'S 1-800-331-4331 CUSTOMER SERVICE (CASE NUMBERS [XXX] & [XXX]) THEY TOO TELL ME ITS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY ARE PUTTING IT OFF ON APPLE. I LIVE IN A HANDS FREE STATE AND CANNOT USE MY MY BLUETOOTH. TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX THIS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES AND TICKETING PURPOSES! I'VE FOUND MANY OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME THING ON TOYOTA FORUMS. MY TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE LEAST THEY NEED TO INSTALL AN UP TO DATE STEREO TO MAKE IT WORK ON MY BLUETOOTH. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

PCS SYSTEM ON 2019 TOYOTA DISPLAYS THAT THE SYSTEM IS "ON" BUT THE ICON ON THE DASH SHOWS "OFF". I HAVE PICS TO PROVIDE PROOF. BEEN HAPPENING BEFORE THE FIRST SRVC ON THE TRUCK. WHEN IN DURING SRVC TO EXPLAIN, DEALERSHIP DIDN'T FIND PROBLEM. LEFT AND IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. SINCE THE 5K SRVC THIS HAPPENS PRETTY MUCH DAILY, I'M NOT SURE IF THE PCS IS GOING TO WORK OR NOT AS I HAVE BECOME LEARY OF THIS FEATURE BEING A SAFETY FEATURE AND MORE OF AN ANNOYANCE WITH TOYOTA NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP IN CORRECTING IT. MULTIPLE FORUMS ON THIS SUBJECT HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED AND OTHER CASES HAVE BEEN STARTED AT NHTSA FOR THIS SAME CONTINUED PROBLEM. A SAFETY FEATURE THAT DOESN'T WORK ISN'T A SAFETY FEATURE; IT'S A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN.
