Your minivan's electric sliding door has two serious safety problems. First, the door requires significant force to reverse when it hits an object—including children—which has caused bruises and could cause broken bones or crushing injuries to smaller children. Second, the keychain remote can accidentally open or close the door if bumped, dropped, or pressed in a pocket, often when people are in the doorway, and this has already caused crush injuries. A fix would likely involve redesigning the door's safety sensors and remote control to require deliberate activation and reverse more easily on contact.
