SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, DUE TO A MANUFACTURING ISSUE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE SURFACE OF THE BALL OF THE JOINT MAY HAVE BEEN SCRATCHED. THE BALL JOINT MAY EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE WEAR AND LOOSENESS, RESULTING IN INCREASED STEERING EFFORT.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 5, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

Your 2003 Sequoia's frame is experiencing severe rust and rot, which could compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle and pose a safety risk to you and your family. Toyota issued a warranty program in the U.S. for 2001-2004 Sequoias to replace rusted frames, but you're located in Canada and want NHTSA to investigate whether this program can be extended to Canadian vehicles. Your hatchback latch hook has failed repeatedly — it won't unlock when you press the button, trapping you from opening the rear hatch. This has happened multiple times despite three replacements by Toyota dealerships, each citing a manufacturing defect. During a recent trip, the latch failed without warning, forcing you to spend over an hour cutting open a pet carrier to retrieve your dog. Additionally, your fuel gauge drops below empty and stays there even when you have gas in the tank. Fixing these issues will likely require replacing the hatchback latch assembly and having the fuel gauge sensor or cluster repaired.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING A TIRE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY CORRODED. THE TECHNICIAN DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NO DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 235,000.*DT*DT

TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DUE TO STEERING ISSUE - WHEN I WOULD HIT A BUMP I WOULD LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. INSPECTION SHOWED THE VEHICLE UNDER BODY AND FRAME HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED, THERE ARE SEVER HOLES AND THE TRAILING ARM HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, BUT TOYOTA HAD A RECALL ON THE FRAME DURING THE PRIOR OWNERSHIP AND THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DURING THE RECALL AND THE PROBLEM WAS NOT ADDRESSED. TOYOTA REFUSES TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AT THIS TIME.
THE FRAME ON THE CAR IS RUSTING AWAY WITH ONLY 40K MILES ON IT. IT WAS GARAGE KEPT.
2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED 4X4 FAILED MASSACHUSETTS INSPECTION THIS MONTH FOR A SEVERELY RUSTED FRAME WITH SEVERE PERFORATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE REAR SUSPENSION AND TRAILING ARMS MAY BREAK OFF AT ANY TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND HAD A COATING APPLIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO - THIS ONLY MASKED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS GARAGED. THE ENGINE AND BODY OF THE VEHICLE ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE VEHICLE HAS 300,000 MILES AND RUNS WELL. THE TOYOTA DEALER DEEMED THE VEHICLE "NOT REPAIRABLE." THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO DEEMED UNSAFE AND ADVISED TO TAKE OFF THE ROAD.

HAVE OWNED VEHICLE SINCE 2007 AND HAVE SERVICED AT WOBURN TOYOTA IN WOBURN,MA. I HAVE NEVER GOT AN EMAIL OR MAIL FROM TOYOTA PERTAINING ANY ISSUE. WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT SAID BEEN OUT FOR A WHILE!!!

I PURCHASE THIS 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA IN 2003 BRAND NEW AND AT THE MOMENT THE FRAME IS RUSTING AT AN ALARMING RATE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE MANUFACTURER (TOYOTA) IS MAKING ANY PLANS TO RECTIFYING THIS PROBLEM?
THE 2003 SEQUIOA FRAME IS RUST IS EATING AWAY THE FRAME. WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VECHICLE. WOULD TOYOTA STANDBY THERE VECHICLE AND REPLACE THIS FRAME OR WE HAVE PAY FOR REPLACEMENT .
THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING NOISES WHILE DRIVING THAT WE COULD NOT IDENTIFY. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT TO PICK UP A FRIEND AND WHEN SHE TURNED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE RIGHT REAR AXLE DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRAME. THE OVERALL FRAME IS ENTIRELY RUSTED OUT. PRETTY BIG SAFETY ISSUE. THANKFULLY, SHE WAS NOT DRIVING FASTER WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
GOING AROUND A TURN IN THE MOUNTAINS AT A SLOW SPEED, MY TRACTION CONTROL KICKS IN AND THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE, I LOOSE THE USE OF THE BRAKES COMPLETELY UNTIL THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME MY SPRINGS AND SHOCKS WERE BAD. I REPLACED ALL 4 OF THE SPRINGS AND SHOCKS AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED RUST SPOTS ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. OVER TIME, HE WOULD HEAR A LOUD BANGING NOISE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE STABILIZER BAR HAD BECOME COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE WEIGHT, THE FRAME COULD NOT HANDLE THE STRESS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PARK AND NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL THAT PERTAINED TO THE FAILURE THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000.
PROBLEM ONE: "BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AT RANDOM BUT THEN DOESN'T COME BACK ON AT NEXT RESTART OF CAR. BRAKE FLUID AND ALL MECHANICS ARE OK. BRAKING DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AFFECTED BUT I AM WORRIED THAT THERE WILL BE AN ABS FAILURE THAT I'LL IGNORE BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY WARNING LIGHT. SOMETIMES THE STABILITY CONTROL ACTIVATES FOR NO REASON AT LOW SPEED. PROBLEM TWO: FRAME IS NEARLY RUSTED OUT. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SIMILAR TUNDRA, AND SUPPOSEDLY A RECALL FOR THESE PARTICULAR SEQUOIAS IN SOME STATES, BUT NOTHING COMES UP FOR MY VEHICLE IN INDIANA. VEHICLE, PURCHASED FROM TOYOTA DEALER OXMOOR TOYOTA A YEAR AGO, IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
THERE IS AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE FRAME OF MY WIFE'S 2003 SEQUOIA. THE RUST IS JUST FLAKING OFF IN HUGE CHUNKS WHICH IS MORE THAN JUST THE UNDER COAT OF PAINT, ITS ACTUAL CHUNKS OF DISINTEGRATED/CORRODED METAL. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE TUNDRA FRAMES WHICH WERE PRODUCED ON THE SAME MANUFACTURING LINE AND USED THE SAME METAL AS THE SEQUOIA WERE RECALLED BUT THE SEQUOIA'S ARE NOT. MOST OF THE FRAME DAMAGE SEEMS TO BE ISOLATED TO THE REAR OF THE CAR. *TR
THE FRAME ON MY VEHICLE CRACKED, AND THIS CAUSED THE TOP OF THE STRUT TO COME UP THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD. THE TOYOTA DEALER, BODY SHOP, AND INDEPENDENT INSURANCE APPRAISER SAY THAT THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER IMPACT. THEY SAID THE FRAME HAD METAL FATIGUE AND SIMPLY FAILED. THIS POSES A SERIOUS HAZARD IF A LIGHTLY DRIVEN VEHICLE SUCH AS MINE, WELL-CARED FOR AND DRIVEN IN A SUBURBAN SETTING, THE FRAME WOULD CRACK IN 8 YEARS. I SAW ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A FRAME RECALL FOR 2001-2003 TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS (WHICH SHARE THE SAME FRAME). THE RECALL WAS FOR ONLY 18 STATES WHERE THERE IS HEAVY SNOW, CAUSING THE FRAMES TO RUST THROUGH. TOYOTA WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRAME. I BELIEVE THAT THE FRAMES WERE FAULTY FROM A MANUFACTURING DEFECT FOR THIS TO OCCUR. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THIS INFORMATION AS IT MAY BE PART OF A MORE WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA IS NOT TELLING ANYONE ABOUT. *TR
ANTI SWAY BAR CANNOT BE CONNECTED BACK TO FRAME SINCE THE FRAME IS RUSTED. I WAS TOLD THAT IN ORDER TO FIX IT, I WOULD NEED MY ENTIRE FRAME REPLACED AND THAT NONE OF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY OR RECALL. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE AT LEAST $13,000. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. SINCE THE SEQUOIA HAS THE SAME FRAME AS A TUNDRA, WHY ISN'T THE SEQUOIA FRAME RUST PROBLEM ALSO BEING RECALLED LIKE THE TUNDRA? *TR
I NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM REAR AXLE HOUSING. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE I WAS TOLD THAT THE AXLE HOUSING IS LEAKING DUE TO DEFECTIVE WELDS AND MUST BE REPLACED, IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED. AT THE SAME TIME I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE FRAME HAS ROTTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT DUE TO DEFECTIVE OR INADEQUATE FACTORY RUSTPROOFING. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM IS PERVASIVE IN TOYOTA SEQUOIAS WHICH HAVE THE SAME FRAME AS TOYOTA TUNDRAS. TOYOTA HAS RECALLED THE TUNDRAS AND REPLACED THE FRAMES BUT TO DATE REFUSES TO DO THE SAME FOR SEQUOIAS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS TIME. ASIDE FROM THE DEFECTS STATED ABOVE THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. *KB

HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE FRONT SUSPENSION RECALL, BUT HE BELIEVES THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AS THERE IS AN EXTREME SHAKING AND VIBRATION COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR THE TRACTION CONTROL RECALL, BUT THE TRAC OFF, VSC TRAC AND ABS LIGHTS ARE STILL ON, THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD IT COULD BE A MYRIAD OF THINGS WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED THE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA FROM COLORADO SPRINGS TOYOTA. IN NOVEMBER 2008 I NOTICED A SEVERE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND AND REPLACED A LEFT FRONT SWAY BAR STABILIZER LINK WHICH HAD BROKEN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ITEM AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY TOYOTA. ON APRIL 10TH, 2010 I WAS ON A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP WHEN THE TOYOTA DEVELOPED A VERY STRONG VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO NOT RESPOND SAFELY TO A NEED FOR QUICK MANEUVERING. I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY TOYOTA UPON MY RETURN HOME AND THE RIGHT SIDE SWAY BAR LINK WAS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND TREATED IT LIKE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA BEFORE SOME ONE ELSE IS KILLED. *TR
THE RUST RECALL FOR THE 2000-2003 TOYOTA TUNDRAS SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE THE TOYOTA SEQUOIA'S FOR THEY ARE BUILT ON THE SAME CHASIS. MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS OF IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR. THE FRONT END SUSPENSION MAKES NOISES WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 40 - 60 MPH. ALSO SHOWING ARE SIGNS OF IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR ON THE FRONT TWO TIRES EQUALLY, THE INSIDE TREADS ARE WEARING CAUSING ME TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED EARLY. SINCE I HAVE NOTICE THE TIRE WEAR, MY SEQUOIA HAS HAD AN ALIGNMENT, BUT THERE ARE STILL SIGNS OF TIRE WEAR. WHAT CAN I DO TO RESOLVE THE FRONT END AND TIRE WEAR PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. *TR
THE VSC/TRAC ERROR LIGHT ON MY 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 80,000MI IS ILLUMINATED AND THE TRAC SYSTEMS IS ENGAGING RANDOMLY CAUSING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE COMPUTER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1800. I SPOKE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 4 DIFF OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT IT WAS NEVER CORRECTED. AT THE TIME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER CONDUCTING SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB I HAVE FOUND 250+ PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR SEQUOIAS (MOST OF THEM WERE MODELS FROM 2001-2003). I FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN AND A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THE FIRST INCIDENCES ARE OCCURRING AT LESS THAN 13,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND THE COMPUTER SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THAT. I VALUE TOYOTA AND THE QUALITY OF VEHICLES THEY PRODUCE AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY CUSTOMERS ARE BEING REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTERS AFTER SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM AND TOYOTA SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF IT. *TR

HE IS CURRENTLY OVERSEAS AND CANNOT GET HIS VEHICLE SERVICED AT THIS TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I HAVE A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA THAT JUST HAD A MAJOR COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILURE WITH THE SKID CONTROL SYSTEMS. THERE WAS NO WARNING, THE VSC LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND A LOUD SOUND CAME FROM THE ENGINE, LIKE BENDING METAL. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 28K IN 3 1/2 YEARS, AND THAT MEANS I'M 6 MONTHS PAST BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY BECAUSE I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITHIN MONTHS OF BUYING THE CAR, BUT THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AS I RESEARCH ON-LINE AT WWW.TUNDRASOLUTIONS.COM/FORUMS/SEQUOIA, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA WAS NOT WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA AND THEY REPLACED 2 COMPUTERS RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS AT A COST OF $2,300. THEY REPLACED: TRANSLATE COMPUTER ASSEMBLY & SKID CONTROL COMPUTER ASSEMBLY. I'M UPSET BECAUSE TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND OBVIOUS EXPENSIVE REPAIR, AND WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. MOREOVER, MY CASE IS ONLY ONE OF MANY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER SVC MGR MIKE LATHAM, MAITA TOYOTA OF SACRAMENTO, INSISTS NOTHING IS WRONG WITH VEHICLE ALTHOUGH HE ADMITS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH TIRES; INSISTS THAT RECALL SVC CORRECTLY PERFORMED AND ALIGNMENT WITHIN SPECS. DEALER REFUSES ATTEMPT TO CORRECT PROBLEM. DEALER OFFERS TO SELL ME NEW TIRES; EFFECTIVELY ATTEMPTING TO RELEASE HAZARDOUS AND UNSAFE VEHICLE TO ME. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, A RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, #05V225000, REGARDING THE SUSPENSION. THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM SUNNYVALE TOYOTA IN OCT OF 2002. IT IS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. FROM THE TIME I REACHED HOME FOUND MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. START WITH HUB CAPS NOT SEATED CORRECTLY, DEFECTIVE ROOF RACKS, ENTRY DOOR MOLDING WITH INKED PRINT ON THEM. WENT ON TO A DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR, PUNGENT AWFUL SMELL FROM THE AC, DEFECTIVE RADIO/ CD CHANGER. BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND DON'T RESPOND WELL. IF YOU PUMP IT ONCE IT WORKS WELL. THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY VEERS TO THE RIGHT. THEY HAVE CHECKED IT AT LEAST 15 TIMES. THERE IS HAIR IN THE PAINT. I WENT THROUGH THE NCDS PROCESS AND ENDED UP WITH A JUDGMENT TO HAVE THEM REPAIR THE VEERING PROBLEM AND AIR CONDITIONING. TOYOTA NEVER COMPLIED AND NCDS CLOSED THE CASE WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I WORKED WITH TOYOTA AND THEY FINALLY WORKED ON THE TROUBLE. I GOT A NEW SET OF TIRES BUT THE VEERING RETURNED. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE TIRES WEAR MORE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE. AS YOU ROTATE THE TROUBLE GOES AWAY UNTIL THE TIRE WEARS AND THE PROBLEM BECOMES MORE PRONOUNCES. NOW THE TIRES ARE BALD AND NCDS IS GIVING ME TROUBLE TO REOPEN THE CASE OR STAND BEHIND THE ARBITRATORS JUDGMENT. NOW EVEN THE DOOR MOLDING ARE COMING OFF EVEN WITH NO DAMAGE. *JB
DT: 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONSUMER STATED RECALL 05V225000 REPAIRS CONCERNING LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE DONE. THERE HAS BEEN EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE OUTER PART OF THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE LOWER BALL JOINT PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT SURE WHETHER OR NOT THE TIRES WERE STILL WEARING OUT SINCE THE REPAIRS. AFTER CONTACTING TOYOTA, THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE TIRES. THESE TIRES CAME WITH THE VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO THE CONSUMER.*AK *MR *JB
DT: THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN AUGUST 2005 REGARDING FRONT SUSPENSION: LOWER BALL JOINTS ON 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. SHE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD SHE WOULD BE CONTACTED IN 2-4 WEEKS. SHE CALLED ON 9-20-05, AND WAS TOLD SHE WOULD BE CONTACTED WITHIN ONE WEEK. THE CONTACT CALLED AGAIN ON 10-6-05, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH HER ON 10-10-05 BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE NOT IN YET. THE CONTACT FELT THIS WAS NOT BEING TAKEN CARE OFF IN A TIMELY MANNER. SHE WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SHE HAS YET TO BE CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINTS. RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. BUT THE CONTACT FELT THAT THIS RECALL PROBLEM CAUSED THE TIRES TO WEAR OUT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TREAD. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE CAUSED FROM THE RECALL, BUT THE CONSUMER FELT THAT IT WAS. IF IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL, THEN THE CONSUMER FELT THAT IT MAY BE DUE TO A DEFECT WITHIN THE TIRE OR ANOTHER DEFECT WITHIN THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THE TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 5,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONSUMER TO ARBITRATION, BUT THIS COULD TAKE UP TO 60 DAYS. *AK
WE PURCHASED A 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA 2WD, IN MAY OF 2003. AT FIRST THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THE ROTTEN EGG SMELL, NOW IT'S TIRE PROBLEMS. STARTING IN FEBRUARY 2004 MY HUSBAND HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE TRUCK BACK EVERY TWO WEEKS. AT FIRST THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE NEXT TIME THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE TIRES, SO THEY REPLACE ALL OF THE TIRES.WE HAD TO PAY ABOUT $150.00 FOR THE TIRES.THE DEALERSHIP CHANGE FROM DUNLOP TIRE TO BF GOODRICH WHICH IS A HARDER TIRE, NOW THEY WE ARE BACK WITH THE DUNLOP TIRES WHICH IS A SOFTER TIRE. ALL THEY ARE DOING IS COVERING UP THE PROBLEM. AFTER CHANGING THE TIRES 3 TIMES, THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE DRIVE SHIFT. THEY CLAIM THEY ORDERED THE PART IT TOOK THREE WEEKS TO GET IT IN. AFTER GETTING IT IN THE SERVICE MANAGER AT REINHARDT HERE IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA, TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THE SHOP MANAGER DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK, BUT WHEN YOU ARE GOING 60 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE THE TRUCK START TO SHAKES.NOW WERE ARE ON THE 4TH SET OF TIRES WHAT IS THAT. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS FOR THE PAPER TO HAVE THE TRUCK INSPECTED AGAIN. IT TOOK ABOUT A MONTH TO GET THEM.YOU CAN CALL THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. WHEN THE BACK WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN AND VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THERE IS A VIOLENT WIND TUNNEL THAT BENDS THE ROOF AND MAKES A HORRENDOUS SOUND. VEHICLE SOUNDS AS IF IT IS AIRBORNE. *AK
