Your RAV4's oil filter housing is made of plastic and can crack when the oil filter is removed or installed during an oil change. If the crack goes unnoticed, oil can leak out from under pressure, potentially causing engine damage or failure. Getting the oil filter housing replaced or repaired carefully during service can prevent this issue.

This is concerning a recall. NHTSA recall No. 23V-734. Which can has a potential for vehicle fire. The remedy will not be available to mid 2024. This is a long time to drive a vehicle like this with such a high safety risk. I have reached out to Toyota and they have refused to do anything about it such as provide a loaner vehicle while they rectify the issue. My life and my families life is at risk driving this vehicle .

OUR 2015 RAV 4 IS EXPERIENCING A TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER AT ABOUT 40MPH. WE CAN FEEL THIS RATTLE OR AS TOYOTA HAS EXPLAINED IN A WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN # POL17-06 DATED 9-15-2017 AND REVISED IN 2021, A SHUDDER, AND HAVE CONCERNS FOR OUR SAFETY WHILE DRIVING. OUR MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE CAR AND FELT THE SHUDDER. HE THEN PROVIDED THE WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN WHICH WE THEN PRESENTED TO BALISE TOYOTA ON POST RD IN RHODE ISLAND. THEY ALSO DOCUMENTED AND EXPERIENCED THE SHUDDER CONFIRMING OUR CONCERNS AND THOSE OF OUR MECHANIC. BALISE TOYOTA TOLD US OUR vin # WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY COVERED PERIOD. TOYOTA IS COVERING VEHICLE TO NOV. 2014 AND OUR VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED FEB. 9, 2015. THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (ZH1) WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER ON CERTAIN 2013-2015 MY RAV4 OFFERING A SECONDARY COVERAGE FOR 8 YEARS FROM DATE OF FIRST USE OR 150,000 MILES. OUR VEHICLE FALLS WITHIN THIS COVERAGE ALLOWANCE, TOYOTA CORPORATE REFUSED OUR CLAIM FOR INCLUSION. HOWEVER, WE ARE SUSPICIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE INCLUSION DATE, EXPERIENCING THE VERY ISSUE, HAVE CONFIRMATION FROM A MECHANIC AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALSO CONFIRMED EXISTENCE OF PROBLEM UPON TEST DRIVE. WE NOTICED THE SHUDDER ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE HAVING IT CHECKED OUT. I WILL PERSUE TOYOTA FURTHER BUT WOULD LIKETO REPORT THIS ISSUE AS THEY ARE NOT COVERING ALL VEHICLES PRODUCED BETWEEN 2013-2015 AS I THINK THEY SHOULD. MY RAV4 IS BEHAVING EXACTLY AS THEY DESCRIBE A VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER WILL. PROBLEM THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE BUT WILL NOT CONSIDER MY CAR AS IT IS OUTSIDE THE DATE THEY HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE. THEY NEED TO EXTEND THAT DATE OUT TO COVER ALL VEHICLES EXPERIECING THE ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 SONS FROM JFK AIRPORT TO WOODSIDE, QUEENS IN NEW YORK. WE JUST GOT OFF THE VAN WYKE HIGHWAY AND WERE TRAVELING WEST ON QUEENS BOULEVARD. THE SPEED LIMIT ON QUEENS BOULEVARD IS 25. WE WERE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT WHEN WE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE UNDER THE HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, WHEN WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR WE NOTICED THERE WERE FLAMES STARTING TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WE IMMEDIATELY GRABBED OUR ITEMS, PURSE, PHONE, COATS AND GOT AWAY SAFELY FROM THE CAR. WE CALLED 911 AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE CAR. THE WHOLE FRONT OF OUR CAR AND DASH WERE BURNED AS WELL AS PART OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. OUR INSURANCE STATED THE CAR WAS TOTALED. OUR CAR WAS INSPECTED IN DECEMBER AND HAD LESS THAN 5,000 MILES. WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW FROM TOYOTA IN 2015 AND HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALER EVERY 6 MONTHS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID LEAVES HAD CAUGHT FIRE, BUT IT HAD RAINED THAT DAY AND THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT GET HOT ENOUGH TO LIGHT LEAVES ON FIRE. AN ENGINE FIRE ON A 2015 CAR WITH LESS THAN 5000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
TEMPORARY LOSS OF POWER. ON A TRIP FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO CYPRESS, CA ON THE I-5 FREEWAY CRUISING AT 70 MPH A SUDDEN TEMPORARY LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED AT LEAST 30 TIMES (THIS WITH ODOMETER IN 6,000 MILE RANGE). I HAD REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO MY TOYOTA DEALER AT APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES. THEY SAID THEIR TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. AROUND 1/3/2020 I TOOK IT TO DEALER AND SAID I WOULD LEAVE IT THERE UNTIL THEY REPAIRED IT. I PURCHASED AN 8 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY IN OCT., 2014. AFTER. 4 DAYS DEALER CALLED FOR ME TO PICK IT UP. WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, THEIR COMPUTER READ MY CAR COMPUTER AND FOUND THAT WHILE RIGHT FOOT WAS ON GAS AND LEFT FOOT EITHER NEAR OR ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN IT OCCURRED. SINCE MY LEFT FOOT WAS RESTING ON MAT WITHOUT ANY MOVEMENT WHY DIDN'T THE LOSS OF POWER HAPPEN CONSTANTLY! THEY SAID IT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE. I SAY IT IS A DANGER.. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN MAKING RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS & STARTING WHEN SIGNAL TURNS GREEN. ON LINE I HAVE SEEN SAME COMPLAINTS. ONE MECHANIC SUGGESTED IT COULD BE A MASS AIR FLOW CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. ANOTHER SAID IT COULD BE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR INTERMITTENTLY FAILING WHICH COULD TEST OK. NOTICE WE ONLY HAVE AROUND 6,000 MILES ON CAR WE BOUGHT IN OCT. 2014 BECAUSE PROBLEM CANNOT BE PREDICTED.
PINK COOLANT KEPT DISAPPEARING. HAVE TO REFILL ONCE EVERY 6 MONTHS. FILL TO FULL AND 6 MONTHS LATER COOLANT WILL BE AT LOW LEVEL. CAR ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. IT HAD HAPPENED SINCE DAY 1.
I HAVE BOUGHT RAV 4 AWD XLE 2015 IN JULY, 2015. IT STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS WITHIN 1 YEAR. I WENT TO TOYOTA DEALER 3 -4 TIMES TO FIX IT. HE EVEN REPLACED TRANSAXLE AND SOME BOLTS AND PUT SOME ENGINE OIL IN IT BUT AGAIN I GOT ALL THESE ENGINE LIGHTS ON MY CAR DISPLAY BOARD. EVERYTIME, NO. OF LIGHTS ARE INCREASING N THE DISPLAY BOARD. SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. SUDDENLY CAR BECAME SLUGGISH ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT PICKING UP THE SPEED. SO SCARED TO DRIVE A DEFECTIVE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY. SPECIALLY WHEN PROBLEM IS IN YOUR CAR ENGINE.(ENGINE LIGHT ON, TRACK OFF ON, A/T OIL TEMP ON, AWD ON ,) WHAT ELSE LEFT IN THE CAR. REALLY FUSTERATED AND DANGEROUS. EVERYTIME NEW LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,896.
