highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Jul 2019
Your fuel cap vented gasoline suddenly and violently, with fuel vapor and liquid spraying down the side of your vehicle. This happened at high elevation (11,000 feet) in warm weather with a half-full tank of premium gas. The fuel system appears to have become over-pressurized, possibly because the gasoline began to boil and needed to release pressure through the cap. The issue could be caused by a faulty evaporative emissions (EVAP) system, an overheated fuel system, or fuel composition problems.
