MY VEHICLE IS GOING THROUGH SEVERAL QUARTS OF OIL WITHIN THE 3,000 MILE RANGE. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.

MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 86,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE IS STARTING TO FAIL WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. IT STARTED AT AROUND 80,000 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE CHECKING THE OIL, SHE BECAME AWARE THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AN OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CLAREMONT TOYOTA LOCATED AT 601 AUTO CENTER DR, CLAREMONT, CA 91711, (909) 542-1828, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND REQUIRED 4 QUARTS OF OIL TO BE ADDED TO THE ENGINE WEEKLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
RATTLING NOISE FROM RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE AT START UP OR COLD STARTUPS.
MY CAR WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL RECENTLY, WHEN I HAD A FEW SERVICES DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP: BRAKE FLUID, TRANSMISSION DRAIN/FILL, OIL CHANGE, AND FUEL INJECTION SERVICE (THIS LAST ITEM I DID NOT ASK FOR OR APPROVE BEFOREHAND). A COUPLE DAYS LATER, MY CAR BEGAN STALLING WHEN I WAS DRIVING (WHILE COMING TO A STOP/ NOT PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR). NO CEL / OVERHEATING/ LOW OIL ISSUES- ALWAYS REGULAR MAINTENANCE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE ENGINE HAD LOW COMPRESSION AND THEY SUSPECTED A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK. THEY ALSO CHECKED TO SEE TO SEE IF MY ECM WAS UPDATED. THAT WAS ALL THEY SAID AFTER BEING THERE 5 HOURS. I HAD TO LEAVE FOR WORK, BROUGHT IT BACK A FEW DAYS LATER, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT IT WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT. A FEW DAYS LATER, MY CAR WOULDN'T START AT ALL. TOOK IT BACK IN, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY IT HAD LOW COMPRESSION/ STALLING/ NOT STARTING BECAUSE NO OIL OR COOLANT LEAKS OR MIXING, NO OVERHEATING, ETC. TOLD ME THE ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE ENGINE. (COST OF TEARING ENGINE APART TO FIND CRACK OR CRACKED GASKET NOT WORTH COST IN LABOR BECAUSE OF CAR'S AGE/ MILEAGE- 2009 COROLLA, AROUND 176K). HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? I SUSPECT THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY DURING A RECENT SERVICE, OR MAYBE THEY DID NOT UPDATE/FLASH MY ECM CORRECTLY. OF COURSE, THEY ARE NOT CLAIMING ANY RESPONSIBILITY. VERY FRUSTRATING. THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER DID OFFER ME A DISCOUNT ON THE USED ENGINE REPAIRS, BUT THIS SEEMS LIKE EITHER MANUFACTURER ERROR OR TECHNICIAN ERROR.
I DO BELIEVE THE ENGINE IS FAULTY, SINCE I'VE HAD MY COROLLA IT'S ALWAYS USED SOOO MUCH OIL AND IT'S NOT LEAKING A DRIP. I HAVE SEVERAL COWORKERS THAT HAVE A COROLLA S AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S GOTTEN WORSE TO WE'RE IT USED TO MUCH OIL IT WAS BELOW THE DIP STICK AND BEFORE I COULD CATCH IT, IT HAS MESSED MY MOTOR UP. I OWN A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA LE 1.8 THAT HAS DEFECTIVE PISTON RINGS WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE TO CONSUME EXCESSIVE OIL AND IT HAS CAUSED TWO OF THE ENGINE CYLINDERS TO MALFUNCTION. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS IN THE INTERNET OF TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS WHO OWN THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE AS MINE YEARS 2009-2011. THEY AS WELL AS MYSELF HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO TOYOTA U.S.A. WITHOUT GETTING ANY SATISFYING ANSWER FROM TOYOTA. A TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED ME TODAY AND TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT RECALL VEHICLES FOR REPAIRS UNLESS THEY RECEIVE AN ORDER FROM THE NHTSA. MY AUTO MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE HAS RECEIVED MANY 2009-2011 TOYOTA COROLLA CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE COME TO HIS SHOP TO HAVE THEIR ENGINES ON THEIR TOYOTA COROLLAS REPLACED OR REBUILT TO CORRECT THE FACTORY DEFECT OF THE PISTON RINGS ON THEIR TOYOTA COROLLAS 2009-2011. I RESEARCHED IN THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THAT THAT MANY TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR CARS' ENGINES DUE TO THE TOYOTA FACTORY DEFECT OF THE PISTON RINGS IN THEIR TOYOTA COROLLA MODELS 2009-2011 AND I EVEN READ SOME COMPLAINTS OF 2014, 2015 AND 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS. I WOULD LIKE FOR YOUR AGENCY TO PAY ATTENTION TO COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE OF OTHER TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS. I AM SURPRISED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ISSUED TO CORRECT THE FACTORY DEFECT OF THE PISTON RINGS OF TOYOTA COROLLAS OF YEARS 2009-2011 AND OTHER YEARS AFTER THOSE. MY CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN 137,250 MILES AND I HAD KEPT THE MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE BY YOUR AGENCY TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER.
MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL ON 2009 CAMRY. EXTREME USE OF OIL. WHEN THE TIME FOR MY 5000-MILE OIL CHANGE MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE WERE LESS THAN 2 QTS LEFT IN THE CRANKCASE. SINCE THAT OIL CHANGE, THE CAR HAS USED 1 QT IN 2000 MILES. I VISITED THE POWAY, CA. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON COROLLAS THEY WOULD NOT EVEN DISCUSS REPAIRS WITH NO CHARGES. HOW CAN IT BE FAIR THAT ONE VEHICLE THE CAMRY IS COVERED WITH A RECALL AND ANOTHER MODEL THE OWNERS MUST PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OF THE SAME PROBLEM THE CAMRY HAD BUT WITH A RECALL DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING.
ONE MONTH AFTER BUYING MY CAR FROM ANOTHER CONSUMER, I NOTICED THE OIL WAS LOW. I FILLED FULL THE FIRST DAY I GOT IT AND HAD NOT PUT ANY SERIOUS MILEAGE ON IT. TWO WEEKS LATER I START TO HEAR THIS TICKING NOISE AND REALIZED THE OIL FILTER NEEDED CHANGED THE PRIOR WEEK. CHANGED IT. NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS TICKING OCCURS ON START UP, GETS LOUDER WITH THE RPM, AND VIBRATES THE ENTIRE CAR AT STOPS. TOOK MY CAR TO TOYOTA THE NEXT MONTH THINKING IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR BELT OR THE CONNECTION ROD BEARING PLATE. THEY HAD ME PAY PAY 120$ TO TAKE OFF THE VALVE HOOD ONLY TO TELL ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I DID A BUNCH OF RESEARCH AFTER THIS AND HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE OVERCONSUMPTION OF OIL FROM THIS YEAR'S MODEL LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF MANY ENGINES. TOYOTA STILL HASN'T ADMITTED FAULT FOR THIS AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL WHEN THERE SHOULD BE. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN 'HONEST, RELIABLE' COMPANY BUT IF THEY EXPECT CONSUMERS TO PAY 2 TO 6 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A NEW ENGINE THAT WAS THEIR FAULT...I WILL NOT SUPPORT THEM THROUGH BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN. FRANKLY IT'S SICKENING TO READ THAT AFTER 10 YEARS THEY WON'T BE ON THE HOOK FOR THIS FAULTY PRODUCT'S DESIGN. WHILE I UNDERSTAND THOSE WERE TOUGH TIMES, WE ARE STILL FEELING THE 2008 RECESSION THROUGH THIS FAULTY PRODUCT AND A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT HOLD UP TO THEIR NAME.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE CAR HAS BEEN USING OIL LIKE CRAZY. I REPLACE ALL 5 QTS OF OIL AT LEAST 1.5 TIMES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT OTHER THAN AN ENGINE REBUILD I AM PRETTY MUCH OUT OF LUCK. THE CAR NOW HAS APPOX 185K MILES. THE USE OF OIL HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE AROUND 75K. I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND SAW A SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT BY THE TIME IT WAS ISSUED MY CAR WAS OUTSIDE OF THE MILEAGE RANGE IT COVERED.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT MY CAR IN NOVEMBER OF 2012 WITH ABOUT 70,000 MILES AND QUICKLY NOTICED IT BURNED A LOT OF OIL. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ADMITTING THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES BURNING OIL. THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE MY CAR TESTED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD THE CAR TESTED AND TO MY SURPRISE IT PASSED THE TEST. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO TAKE THE TEST AGAIN AFTER 1 YEAR. THE NEXT TIME I TESTED THE CAR IT FAILED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BY A LARGE MARGIN. TOYOTA REFUSED TO NOW REPAIR THE CAR BECAUSE I HAD REACHED 151,000 MILES AND THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 150,000 MILES. TOYOTA KNEW ALL ALONG THAT THE CAR HAD OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS AND NOW THEY REFUSE TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. EVERYWHERE I DRIVE THE CAR NOW I HAVE TO CARRY EXTRA OIL WITH AND ON LONG TRIPS ITS A REAL ISSUE. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT AND WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR THESE CARS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA FOR NOT STANDING BY THEIR PRODUCT.

I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH TOYOTA. MY VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF OIL. PERIOD BEFORE 3,000 MILES. NO "RED" OIL LIGHT. IT JUST RUNS OUT OF OIL. I TOOK IT FOR TOYOTA OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND IT PASSED. SO I GO FOR A SECOND TEST. NO. THE 10 YEAR 150,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. SO I AM NOW STUCK PUTTING OIL IN THIS VEHICLE WEEKLY UNTIL IT ULTIMATELY FAILS. IT RUNS ROUGH AND I EXPECT IT TO FAIL. SHAME ON NTSB AND TOYOTA FOR NOT RECALLING THIS MOTOR. I GET A 10 YEAR WARRANTY THAT STARTS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST USED - NOT WHEN I'M NOTIFIED. VERY SHADY AND UNETHICAL. I ALSO HAVE RESERVATIONS THAT THE TEST WAS PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED.
BACK IN JANUARY, 2018 MY ENGINE WOULD KNOCK WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. TOOK THE CAR FOR IT'S SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS ONLY A QUART OF OIL THAT DRAINED. MY OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO CONSUME OIL. TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY ENGINE NEEDED TO EITHER BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. I OPTED TO HAVE IT REBUILT. I PAID $4000 DOLLARS FOR THIS. GOT THE CAR BACK AND DROVE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND CHECKED MY OIL ONLY TO FIND IT WAS DOWN 1 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS OF DRIVING ON BASICALLY A BRAND NEW MOTOR. I'M STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON MY VEHICLE AND HAVE FALLEN BEHIND SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE REPAIRS TO MY VEHICLE. SO FAR IN THE TWO YEARS I'VE OWNED THIS CAR I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP/FILTER, WATER PUMP X2, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER, SPARK PLUGS X4. THIS IS GETTING REALLY EXPENSIVE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLE A WEEK LATER WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT MISFIRING.
MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS OVER HEAT PROBLEM SO I TAKE IT TO MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND WATER PUMP ISSUE, I REPLACE IT. PROBLEM STILL CONTINUE AND TAKE IT TO DEALER PLACE AND THEY DIAGNOSTIC VEHICLE AND CAME UP WITH FEW PROBLEM WHICH COST ME $1187, AFTER THEY FIXED THEY FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AND THEY ALSO SAID TRANSITION COULD FAILURE DOWN THE ROAD AND THEY ESTIMATE ME ANOTHER $4500 TO REPLACE ENGINE FROM DIFFERENT CAR WHICH IS HAS 75000 MILES ON IT.
I STARTED NOTICING A KNOCKING IN MY ENGINE. I REPORTED IT TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 9-9-14. I WAS TOLD BY THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT( THE ONE THAT HAS DONE ALL OF MY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE) " NO ABNORMAL SOUNDS HEARD AT THIS TIME." IN HIND SIGHT MAYBE THEY DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE BECAUSE SHE WAS LOW ON OIL AND ONLY LISTEND FOR THE NOISE AFTER THE OIL CHANGE. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I SHOULD CHECK MY OIL FOR LEAKAGE IN BETWEEN MY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE! I CHECKED MY OIL ONE DAY AT RANDOM AFTER I HEARD KNOCKING AGAIN AND SHE WAS VERY LOW ON OIL. I TOOK HER TO TOYOTA AND TOLD THEM SHE WAS CONSUMING OIL. THEY SUGGESTED A FUEL INDUCTION SERVICE FOR WHICH THEY DID ON 1-12-17, WHICH DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. ON 9-12-17 AT HER NEXT APPOINTMENT I REPORTED AGAIN THE OIL USAGE.OUTCOME; " PERFORMED INSPECTION, FOUND SLIGHT OIL SEEPAGE AT ENGINE OIL PAN. PCV SYSTEM IS WORKING. ENGINE MUST BE BURNING OIL. PISTONS AND RINGS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED." BIG SURPRISE THERE. I WAS SO NAIVE BUT I DID TAKE HER TO DIFFERENT TOYOTA SERVICE PLACE FOR A SECOND OPINION. AND YES YOU GUESSED IT ANOTHER ENGINE OIL CLEANER SERVICE. AND SUGGESTED PISTON AND RINGS REPLACED. IT WAS A MECHANIC FRIEND THAT WE TOOK HER TO THAT KINDLY DID SOME SEARCHING AND FOUND THAT TOYOTA HAD ISSUED A TSB ON AUGUST 11, 2011[1](# FN:1) TO DEALERSHIPS WHICH SAYS: " SOME 2006-2011 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 2AZ-FE ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE PISTON ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO MINIMIZE OIL CONSUMPTION." AND THAT PO3O# (CYLINDER # MISFIRE DETECTED) DTC MAY ALSO BE SET AS A RESULT OF OIL CONSUPTION" OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS THERE IS A DESIGN ERROR OF THE PISTONS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ERROR CODE P2103. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A COLD SOAK STARTUP MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA MAKES A VERY LOUD RATTLE NOISE WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOR APPROXIMATELY 1-2 SECONDS. IT WILL CONSISTENTLY DO THIS UPON COLD STARTUP, AND IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITHIN THE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR ASSEMBLY OF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTATION FOR MORE DETAILS, INCLUDING THE $896 REPAIR QUOTED FROM THE DEALER (PAGE 2). IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS ISSUE CAN EVENTUALLY LEAD TO MORE SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE, AND I THINK IT IS A SHAME THAT THE DEALER DID NOT CATCH THIS EARLIER/ IS NOW QUOTING SUCH A HIGH PRICE FOR REPAIR. IT IS MY HOPE THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO MAKE TOYOTA BETTER RESPECT IT'S CUSTOMER'S SATISFACTIONS/SAFETY, AND TAKE CARE OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE AT NO COST TO IT'S CUSTOMERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP EXPERIENCED A MALFUNCTION HOWEVER A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

(DEFECT WATERPUMP) MY WATERPUMP WENT HAD A HAIRLINE CRACK.. THE MACANIC SAYS THE OLD WATERPUMP MOLDING WAS OFF AND WAS TOO THIN AROUND WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE ENGINE.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2008 AND THE FOLLOWING JANUARY 2009 I NOTICED BURNING SMELL FROM ENGINE. MY DAD BEGAN CHECKING OIL AND NOTICED I WAS OUT OF OIL WELL BEFORE MY NEXT OIL CHANGE. WENT TO LIPTON TOYOTA ENDLESSLY OVER PERIOD OF 6 YEARS AND WOULD BE TOLD THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS NORMAL, NOT A PROBLEM. IN 2013 THEY SAID THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT. ALL SUBSEQUENT OIL LOSS WAS NORMAL. MY ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO GO ON ..COILS STARTED MISFIRING BUT WHEN I PUTIN THE OIL IT WOULD CLEAR OUT. TOYOTA SAID NOT CONNECTED. THEY BEGAN ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE FIXED. STILL SAYING IT'S NOT RELATED TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.

THIS IS THE SECOND TSB REFUSED BY TOYOTA FOR THIS VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF SAFETY RECALL AND LAWSUITS. MY FIRST SAFETY COMPLAINT WAS TO GET TBS FOR LOOSE COMPUTER ASSISTED STEERING. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WILL NOT DO ANYTHING, STILL STAYS ON 2000 RPM UNTIL ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, ONE SHOP SUGGESTED I REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY ($1400) DID AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO REPLACED THE GAS PEDAL ASSY. ($35.00 USED) STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. CAR MAY GO DAYS OR WEEKS BETWEEN EVENTS. WHEN IT HAPPENS ON A FREEWAY, IT IS VERY BAD, THE CAR SLOWS AND YOU CAN NOT ACCELERATE IN ANY WAY, YOU MUST PULL OVER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. VERY DANGEROUS! MY WIFE WAS TRAVELLING ON I-270 NEAR COLUMBUS, OH ON 6/19/2016 AFTERNOON (AROUND 2 PM) IN A TOYOTA COROLLA S 2009. SHE REGAINED CONTROL AFTER GREAT EFFORT AND PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE AT THE ROADSIDE. THE CAR DID NOT START IMMEDIATELY BUT STARTED AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS AND RAN PROPERLY AFTER THAT BUT WITH SOME MINOR VIBRATION POST 60 MPH SPEED.

I SINCE CONTINUED CHECKING AND TOPING THE ENGINE OIL UNTIL DECEMBER WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO STALL WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT. IT WOULD TRY TO IDLE AROUND 500-600 RPM BUT COULDNT AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD BRING IT UP TO 800 RPM. I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AND TURNED OUT MY PISTON RINGS ARE THE PROBLEM. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION ONLINE I SAW THAT THE PISTON AND PISTON RINGS ARE THE PROBLEM ON THE TOYOTA 2ZRFE ENGINE AND MAY OTHER ENGINES. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED A DAY TO HAVE THIS CHECKED WHEN I GOT THERE IN FEBURAY I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN DOESNT HAVE THIS ISSUE I EXPLAINED I AM HAVING THIS ISSUE AND WAS TURNED AWAY. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL CONSUMPTION, EACH TIME, WHICH I STILL DIDN'T BELIEVE AND RETURNED TO COMPLAIN AS A MATTER OF RECORD. THE CAR HAS 74,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS AT THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER EXHIBITING A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE. NOW, BECAUSE THERE IS A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST CANNOT BE DONE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA CENTER THREE PREVIOUS TIMES AND NO OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS OFFERED ANY TIME I RAISED THE ISSUE. NOW TOYOTA SAYS THEY CAN'T PERFORM THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, AND SINCE THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS A REQUIREMENT FOR AUTHORIZED REPAIR/REPLACEMENT TOYOTA WILL NOT HONOR THERE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION - ZE7 LETTER. HOW THIS HAPPENED, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM CITY DRIVING AND WITHIN 1 MILE OF MY HOME AND I HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I STOPPED THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT THE ENGINE AREA. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND NOTICED AN ENGINE NOISE. THE CAR WAS THEN PULLED TO THE DRIVEWAY AND HAULED TO THE SERVICE CENTER ON A FLATBED TOWING TRUCK. I AM NOW WAITING FOR THE TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER, WHO TOLD ME THE CAR CANNOT BE COVERED BY TOYOTA UNLESS I PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST. THIS IS AN ADMISSION OF THE PROBLEM (GUILT), AND IS NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LETTER I RECEIVED. THE LETTER CLEARLY STATES, CONDUCT AN ENGINE CONSUMPTION TEST TO BE CONSIDERED FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. HOW CAN THIS BE DONE, WHEN THE SERVICE CENTER FAILED TO SUBJECT THIS CAR TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION ON THREE OCCASIONS? I, ATTEMPTED ON THREE OCCASIONS TO OBTAIN SERVICE AND WAS DENIED, NOW I AM AT FAULT? IT IS MY OPINION TOYOTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR/ REPLACEMENT, AS THERE WAS TIME TO CONDUCT THE TEST AND TIME TO AVERT THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 395 IN CONNECTICUT THE ENGINE DIED. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER MULTIPLE TRIES THE CAR STATED. I DROVE A LITTLE FURTHER AND THE ENGINE DIED ONCE AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND GET IT TO MY MECHANIC. THE ENGINE ERROR CODE STATED THAT 2 OF THE 4 STARTER COILS FAILED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE 2 STARTER COILS AND THE CAR DROVE FINE. AFTER THE CAR SPENT THE NIGHT IN MY GARAGE IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. THE CAR AGAIN RAN FINE FOR 1 DAY THAN AFTER THE OVERNIGHT IN THE GARAGE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF MY MECHANIC I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO VALENTI TOYOTA IN WESTERLY. RI WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK FIRST STATING THAT THE COMPUTER WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I POINTED OUT THAT TOYOTA HAD A RECALL OF COMPUTERS IN 2008 COROLLA AND SINCE MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 2008 DID THEY USE THE SAME FAULTY COMPUTERS? THEY STATED NO AND WOULD ORDER A NEW COMPUTER AND HAVE IT THE NEXT DAY. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT RELEASE THE PART TO THEM AND THEY WOULD BE DEALING WITH THE REGIONAL PARTS ENGINEER. AFTER 4 DAYS AND STILL NO COMPUTER VALENTI TOYOTA CALLED ME BACK AND STATED THAT ALL 4 STARTER COILS NEEDED REPLACING AND THAT THE CAR IS RUNNING NOW. THE SERVICE INTAKE PERSON VERIFIED THE PRESENCE OF A WHINE NOISE BUT COULD NOT IDENTIFY ITS CAUSE, SUSPECTING THAT IT MIGHT BE THE ALTERNATOR. HE COULD NOT TAKE CAR IN UNTIL MONDAY, 8/20/12, DUE TO A STAFF SHORTAGE. SINCE I WAS NOT TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, I CONTINUED DRIVING IT. LATE THAT SAME DAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING. I PULLED TO THE CLOSEST AUTO SERVICE; THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND IMMEDIATELY REPLACED THE FAILED WATER PUMP. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I NEEDED AN OPERABLE VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED AT THAT TIME. OUR 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA HAS A FAILURE IN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. AFTER THE WINTER, THE A/C WAS TURNED ON AND IT WOULD NOT COOL. FREON WAS PUT INTO THE SYSTEM AND IT COOLED DOWN AGAIN. HOWEVER, A HISSING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE CAR AFTER PUTTING IN THE FREON. TURNS OUT THERE IS A LEAK IN THE AIR CONDITIONER'S CONDENSER. THE TSB ON THE 2003 - 3005 COROLLA INDICATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. SUPPOSEDLY, TOYOTA CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM ON FUTURE COROLLA'S, BUT EVIDENTLY THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH IT. WE ARE HAVING THE CONDENSER REPLACED. *TR
BOUGHT BRAND NEW (3MILES) COROLLA LE ON FRIDAY, JAN 2, 2009. ON JAN 5, WHILE MAKING A TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE CAR COMPLETELY "FROZE": NO STEERING, NO ACCELERATION, NO BRAKING POSSIBLE. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I CAME TO A STOP (LUCKILY, THE PARKING LOT WAS SEMI-EMPTY); TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, RESTARTED THE CAR. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE OFF- BUT THE "CHECK ENGINE" STAYED ON. CALLED THE DEALER WHO RECOMMENDED BRINGING THE CAR TO SERVICE FOR A CHECK. DROVE THERE (7 MILES)- THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT REMAINED ON THE WHOLE TIME. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT "THE ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON". WAS GIVEN THE CAR BACK (AFTER ROAD TEST BY THE MECHANIC AND, PRESUMABLY, A COMPUTERIZED CHECK) AND TOLD THAT "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR". FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE NOW. *TR
VEHICLE STALLING WHEN MAKING A QUICK DECELERATION FROM OVER 40MPH TO 15MPH OR TO A COMPLETE STOP. ENGINE DIES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND ELECTRICAL CONTINUES TO FUNCTION. CAR RESTARTS WITH NO PROBLEM. THIS HAS OCCURRED 2CE IN THE PAST 2 DAYS, ONCE THE ENGINE WAS COLD, WITHIN 2 MILES OF START, THE OTHER OCCURRED WHEN ENGINE WAS WARM AFTER DRIVING 10 MILES ON HIGHWAY, AND SLOWING DOWN QUICKLY TO PASS THROUGH ELECTRONIC TOLL BOOTH. TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED VEHICLE, COULD NOT DUPLICATE, NOR DID THE SYSTEM STORE ANY CODES OR EVENT CONDITIONS. *TR
