2015 Subaru Forester Other Problems

In the parking lot of my condo/home I was slowly approaching and driving in to my regular assigned parking space. As I applied the brakes preparing to stop, the car suddenly and without warning quickly accelerated and crashed into the building causing extensive damage to the building and the vehicle. The air bag did not react.

Vehicle was in a front end collision, vehicle was able to safely pull over to the shoulder and be shut down. Impact did not result in airbag deployment and damage to vehicle appeared to be moderate.

After 4hrs of driving with 2 pit stops in between, I was in 3 lane traffic and down to 1 bar on fuel gauge stating I had 50mi left of driving remaining in tank.. Low fuel light hadn't even turned on yet, only to find that the car had lost power and reduced speed and wouldn't accelerate when I used has pedal. However the interior lights and power windows still worked.

My car losses power while I am driving. I merged into traffic on a two lane highway, and while my vehicle was across the north & south lanes, I lost power. Luckily all traffic slowed or stopped until I was able to move my car.

Today is 6/5/2019. The earliest I can schedule my urgent important safety recall with fox subaru in grand rapids, mi is november 6th, 2019------five months from now! So if I die....before then...in an accident as a result of them not being able to do the recall does my family get to sue fox subaru as well as subaru of america, inc for compensation from my life?

My 2015 forester stalled while driving in the middle lane on the nj parkway (going about 65-70mph.) there were no warning lights or any indications that this would happen. I had about 3/4 of a tank of gas left. When the car stalled, it felt like it downshifted and then completely stopped - almost as if we ran out of gas (but we didn't).

Sudden unintended acceleration: I was traveling at approx 10 MPH through a campground. I applied the brakes to slow down to turn right into my parking spot. My right foot was on the brake pedal when the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward.

When the transmission is put into drive or reverse from park, or from drive to reverse or vice versa there is a delay of approximately three seconds before the transmission engages. On a hill, the car starts to roll if the foot is removed from the brake before the transmission engages.

2015 subaru forester. Consumer writes in regards to steering wheel issues. *smd the consumer stated her jacket with a zipper had a tendency to get caught on the steering wheel and on several occasions, she almost caused an accident, as she was unable to move her arm, to steer the vehicle.

Loss of engine power/acceleration. Traveling home in our 2015 forester, VIN [xxx], 93k miles, when we encountered a problem. On the interstate, traveling approximately 70mph, our forester seemed to come out of gear, all the dash lights illuminated & the gas pedal would not work as far as actually accelerating the car (the gas pedal would ?rev up?

Periodically in the middle of a turn the car seems to loose power and acts like it is going to stall. It is inconsistent when it happens. Car can be cold or have been driven for over an hour.

Eyesight driving assist cameras failed, intermittently at first then complete failure. This failure also takes out the rear backup camera and cruise control and brake assist functions.

Occasionally stalls when accelerating (usually to get on freeway or speed up drastically while on freeway). Doesnt completely lose power, only occurs for about 1-4 seconds but during that time car does not speed up even when pressing gas (actually acts as if foot was taken off gas), and makes a clicking noise.

The ignition key kept getting stuck in the ignition. Subaru acknowledged a defect in the shifter plate and parking range switch. They replaced it on 8/30/25 under service bulletin 16-12-18R but the dealer charged me $584.94 and Subaru North America refused to reimburse, stating that they had extended the warranty period to 2022, and therefore I was not covered for repair. However, they acknowledged that the original parts had failed for certain customers and that they had better parts available IF the original parts failed before the extended warranty period lapsed in 2022. They should have issued a recall and replaced the original parts. I was unable to remove the keys and could not secure and lock my car. I was also concerned that the steering wheel would lock up while driving.

After replacing the valve body (part of CVT transmission). The car was released to me. Immediately upon leaving the dealership, the car kept jolting and shuddering, but no maintenance lights were lit on the dashboard.

A/C continue not to work. Blowing out warm air followed by bad odor. AC compressor assembly replaced 5/2022 now having the same problem after new repair AC clutch and repair/ placed the A/C pressure switch on 8/25/2023.

The transmission triggered a warning light suggesting a problem. After taking it to the dealership, it was determined that the valve body solenoid had failed and the entire valve body needed to be replaced. This was a very expensive job for a very inexpensive part.

Our steering wheel clock spring is malfunctioning causing the vehicles horn not to work in certain positions (intermittently). more of a preventative to warn others, as we first noticed when we tried using it to help warn a car to stop for the light while we were making a left turn the car nearly ran through the red light which would of hit us.

Check engine light keeps coming on for an O2 sensor that has been recently replaced.

Car does not respond when accelerating/attempting to accelerate. Takes 3-5 seconds to engage when press on gas from stopped/brake position, also very slow to accelerate when changing speeds. Took car in for service and was told not transmission, but still having issue.

My wife and I were looking specifically for the 2014-2018 subaru forester. We looked over 25 of the same car and most of them had this noise coming from the AC compressor.

Windshield crack appeared in my 2015 subaru forester does not appear to be from a stone or object striking the glass. Not driving much due to covid. This is the second windshield that has to be replaced in the five years I've owned this car.

Loss of power. It feels like there is simply no throttle response. It has happened after turning into traffic from a stop sign or red light at low speed (< 40 MPH) and merging onto a highway at high speed (> 60 MPH).

Recall notification followup --- this vehicle has a brake lamp switch recall. I called the dealer --bob baker subaru in carlsbad ca -- and they require an appointment to change the switch. Today is july 9, 2019, and they cannot schedule an appointment until november, 2019.

My AC has been giving me problems since I bought it. It never really cooled to its full potential. It has gotten worse over the years.

The tire low pressure indicator came on the dash board. The air pressure was low, so that was what was supposed to happen. The problem is that I can't reset the tire low pressure indicator unless I pay the dealer $50.

Dashboard warning lights lit up "like a christmas tree"! Safety features are disabled. No eye sight, traction control, lane deviation.

Evaporator core failure, during use of vehicle in motion, leaking refrigerant into the vehicle leading to a/c not working.

Our subaru forester shuts down as we drive on the expressway. It has happened 4 times now on 10/24/2016, 3/28/2017, 5/31/2017, and 12/31/2018. It happens only on the expressway during long road trips.

ENGINE STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS OCCURRED TO ME ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON. A/C ON.

WHEN NEEDED FOR THE VENTILATION TO CLEAR THE FOG, WHICH FORMS ON THE WINDSHIELD OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS HUMID OR VERY HOT OR TOO COLD, HAVE TO KEEP IT ON. THEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF VAPOR FORMS ON THE WINDSHIELD.

There is an odd hesitation as if it does not want to go forward at idle after braking. If I press the gas, there is a delayed reaction and a lurch. This is scary!

Car shuts off while driving on the expressway, approx 70mph. All of the lights on the dash turn on as car dies. These incidents have happened multiple times, and the dealer cannot locate the issue to resolve the matter.

Within 1 week of purchasing the vehicle, small, unknown road debris hit the windshield causing a divot the size of a pencil eraser. This was repaired. Over the next several months, the same thing happened 5-6 times.

I purchased my car from colonial subaru in danbury ct. Its a 2015 subaru forrester xt with only 11 miles. Unfortunately, I was dissatisfied for the following reason(s): I just purchased the vehicle in jan 2015 but the exhaust on the vehicle has a lot of rust building up on the pipe.

An off market part from API snapped after just 10 months and 7000 miles of driving on gentle paved roads. It was the lower control arm bolt. (2703-535960) Would have caused a very dangerous situation if happened at speed!

The horn stopped working. I have yet to determine exact fix. Subaru forums suggest that it may be the clock spring, a relay, the horn itself, or a fuse.

When pulling up to park behind another car in the street, the car had a burst of acceleration about 5 ft from behind the next car. I slammed on my brakes and stopped the car inches from the next car. I was not gunning the gas at that point.

I have experienced on occasion to what I believe to be spontaneous acceleration. I will be driving down hill, my foot is already on the brake the whole way but before my vehicle reaches the stop sign, it will stop braking and go. My foot never left the brake pedal.

My horn is not working unless my steering wheel is turned all the way to the left/right. I was told it was a clock spring in the steering wheel.. The internet said this was a common problem.

When driving after some time the AC goes warm. This happened while highway driving, when stopped in traffic and on city rds. It seems to happen after the system had been on for a bit.

Horn does not work when sterring wheel in straight ahead position. Horn works in all other positions.

The car was parked on a city street, not running. When I approached to enter the car in the morning, after clicking the unlock button but before touching the car, the rear windshield spontaneously shattered into hundreds of pieces. Nothing hit or fell on the car, no one was touching it nor in it.

The eye sight system will turn off while driving down the road which in turn turns off the cruise control. And the automatic brake then doesn't work, which becomes very dangerous in traffic.

Oil consumption!! I purchased the vehicle in june 2017 with 67,000 miles with in month I was burning 1-2 quarts of oil. Now there is a class action lawsuit out there but only thru 2014 not on mine apparently.

Twice the forester surge forward --once it stopped before hitting a tree and the second time it hit a building. Both times pulling in to a parking space from a road and from a parking area.

When stopped on a hill, with engine running, shift placed securely in park, with road ice on one side of vehicle, the car started to slide down the hill, but both rear wheels and driver side front wheel were turning while car was sliding down hill. In testing this, it was repeated two times, once on the same hill, again on a different hill. This is dangerous!
