Your car displays pop-up advertisements from SiriusXM while you're driving, which can distract you from the road and interfere with using navigation and other safety features. These ads appear randomly every few months, and you can't disable them from the vehicle itself—you have to create an account on a computer and navigate to communication preferences to turn them off. The owner believes this poses a driver safety risk and may violate FCC regulations.

Your infotainment screen displays advertisements that pop up and block access to the X Mode safety feature (used for snow/ice driving). These ads won't disappear until you interact with them, which means you have to engage with an advertisement before you can use this safety feature—creating a distraction while driving in bad weather. You weren't told about these ads when you bought the vehicle, and both Subaru and SiriusXM say they can't remove them. Fixing this would likely require a software update or subscription change from SiriusXM to disable ad displays.

While driving, a SiriusXM radio advertisement unexpectedly pops up on your infotainment screen, blocking access to CarPlay, air conditioning controls, car settings, and driver assistance features. You can only dismiss the ad by clicking a small "X" button in the corner, which requires taking your eyes off the road and concentrating on the screen to tap accurately — making it dangerous and potentially illegal while driving. This has happened multiple times and creates a significant distraction that could cause a crash, especially in poor visibility conditions.

While driving, a full-screen Sirius-XM subscription ad appeared on your infotainment display, blocking your air conditioning controls and navigation. You were forced to interact with the touchscreen while the car was moving to dismiss the ad and regain access to these functions, creating a dangerous distraction. The ad system should not display promotional content that requires driver interaction while the vehicle is in motion.

While driving, your infotainment screen was completely taken over by a full-screen advertisement for Sirius XM radio service, covering your map and climate controls. You had to take your attention off the road to figure out what was happening and find a button to dismiss the ad, which created a significant distraction while driving. The fix would likely involve a software update to prevent ads from displaying while the vehicle is in motion, or adjustments to Subaru's infotainment system settings.

SiriusXM ads keep popping up and blocking your navigation screen, forcing you to take your hands off the wheel to dismiss them while driving. This is distracting and takes your attention away from the road. The fix would likely involve adjusting SiriusXM settings, updating the infotainment software, or contacting SiriusXM support to disable ad overlays.

On infotainment touchscreen, repeated Sirius XM ads are shown while the vehicle is in operation. This is distracting and dangerous as the ads obscure actual critical functions like climate control, navigation, and vehicle settings until I tap the X on the ad to close it. Running ads while the vehicle is driving is not safe - this puts myself and other drivers at risk by introducing an unnecessary distraction. I cannot stress enough that these ads only appear WHILE the vehicle is driving.
While driving, the infotainment system, which I was using for navigation, popped up an ad for SiriusXM radio. This distracted me, as the driver, while I was trying to use the navigation system to find my way. Thankfully, I was on a road with a speed limit of 30 mph, and an area that I am familiar with. However, there should be ZERO tolerance for advertisements on automotive infotainment systems.
Ad for Sirius XM popped up on infotainment center AS I WAS DRIVING. This caused an unexpected interruption in my ability to drive safely. Subaru gives you zero option to opt out and I have repeatedly had this pop up on my screen. I bought and paid for this vehicle and they should not be allowed to place ANY ADS on the infotainment center.
While driving in Alaska during icy conditions my entire display for my infotainment screen changed abruptly. I glanced over at this to see if this was important information as it doesn't usually do thing. Upon looking I realized this was an advertisement for Sirius XM radio free until December 1st. In order to get back to my normal navigation I had to click a small red X on the screen. This entire situation cause me to swerve and slide on the ice and almost go off into a ditch. This is extremely negligent behavior to display an advertisement while a car is in full motion and I, as the driver, am expected. To keep my eyes on the road.
Sirius XM ad shows up randomly on infotainment screen. It completely takes over the screen, distracting, and no way to disable it.
I had a frontal accident on March 6, 2025. When I turned to pull into the driveway of my rental apartment, I lost control of the vehicle. It surged forward, climbed a low retaining wall of about 14" and then hit a support post. I sat there stunned thinking "what just happened and how?" At first, I thought it was me, but thinking about it more, I'm wondering if this could be a potential safety problem. I have read several other similar instances on the internet, and someone I know had a similar accident which was attributed to her age. Collision repair for the Crosstrek was $10,358 done by a local facility, not Subaru. Repair of damage to the support post was $1,340. I reported this to Subaru, but after several follow-ups (last one on July 29, 2025), I still have not received a reply from Subaru. I can forward the email string to you if you want. I don't know how to attach it in one of the acceptable formats.
This is not a safety issue. But the paint on the car seems to be of poor quality that is easily chipped or stained by bird droppings. The hood of the car has a multiple chips in the paint. The car has been well taken care of and normal driving conditions. For only 18000 miles on the car, the paint seems very thin and poor durability to hold up to normal driving conditions.
I had purchased my car over a weekend and in less than 2 days, on my way to work, I noticed that the horn volume and reliability was severely diminished to the point where you can't hear it if you have the windows rolled up inside the vehicle, and/or doesnt work at all. I used my warranty to replace the horn and have the dealership take a look at it. they recognized that it was a problem but even after replacing the horn, the issue still persisted.
Random cracking of windshield while parked. Beginning from the very top of the windshield downward 6-7 inches. No chips, or cracks in the area. Was not hit by anything.
The windshield cracked during driving. Two linear cracks developed from the bottom of the windshield, one is extending across the whole bottom side of the windshield, the other is extending in the vertical direction. Picture of the cracks can be located in the attachment labeled in blue lines.
I received a notification on my Subaru app in January about the drive shaft recall that occurred in November 10th, just 2 days after I made the purchase of my car on November 8th. It took approximately 2 months after initial notice of recall for me to receive any notification. I have at this point managed to bring my car in for a check up to the dealership I purchased the car from. It was determined on January 31st that the driveshaft did have problems and I was given a car rental. Two weeks later there is still no news about the part replacement, despite the original recall notice having the date of November 10th, 2023 as I have attached. Please provide any update on the situation. This is not acceptable treatment of customer. Not only was I not notified of the recall that occurred just 2 days after my purchasing of the vehicle, now 3 months after the recall there are still no parts available for the repair. For 2 months I was driving a car that had a recall without knowing it. It was found that the drive shaft was damaged and I could have gotten into an accident. Looking on NHTSA the recall notice shows up with the date of November 9th just 1 day after my purchase.
I got my new crosstrek and only drive it for 2 months 2676 miles and got multiple chips on my windshield and cracking later on. I have been driving to Tahoe for snowboard with my previous Corolla and have never experienced this issue. But this car got chips and crack so easy…I called to dealer and they refused to fix this issue so I also called Subaru American and their response are so close. How can I drive this car without fixing the windshield issue? Very disappointing
Pulling out of the garage, when I applied the brakes, the car came to a stop, then started beeping, and the control panel started flashing that several systems were disabled, and I needed to check the manual. The car shifter would not move (it was in Drive at the time, but wouldn't move). After turning the car off, the screen flashed to place car in park. At this point, the car was approximately 2/3 out of the garage (and blocking the garage door), with the front bumper just overhanging the curb of the street. Subsequent attempts to start the car and put it in gear to move it back into the garage were unsuccessful. The car refused to go into gear, and the display continued to flash about disabled systems. After approximately 75 minutes, the car 'reset' enough to put it in gear. This allowed the roadside assisnance driver to get the car on the tow truck without having to use tow chains. The dealership has not yet determined the cause of this behavior.
Windshield crackers with no outside damage. Started on drivers side and is spreading across.
When I make a left turn from a stop and accelerate, there is a popping/hollow tocking sound, usually three pops in succession. I don't know what this noise is or what could be broken on the vehicle. No warming lamps. Unfortunately, the dealership can't look at my car until November 24th. Many other 2024 crosstrek owners on reddit and facebook are reporting this problem.
