ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks manufactured March 27, 2009, to September 5, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the electrical connectors of the diesel fuel heater may overheat.
Fix: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the harness side connector with a silver plated beryllium copper terminal service kit, and inspect the fuel heater for leaks, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. Chrysler issued interim notification to owners on December 8, 2014. The recall began on April 27, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P65.

Your engine shuts off immediately whenever you move your keyless entry fob (push-button key) even slightly while the engine is running. This has been happening daily and has even caused the engine to cut out while you were driving on the highway, forcing you to safely pull over and restart the vehicle. The issue appears to be caused by a faulty wireless ignition module that likely needs to be replaced.

Your truck's engine stalled without warning while driving at low speed (5 mph). After restarting, it stalled again shortly after. A dealership diagnosed the problem and determined your engine needed to be replaced. This happened at approximately 178,000 miles.

Your 2011 Ram 2500 6.7 diesel has experienced two major engine problems over the last 6 months: an O2 sensor failure (costing around $1,500 to replace) and turbocharger variable flap issues (costing around $5,000). Both problems appear to be linked to carbon buildup from the emissions equipment, and mechanics have indicated that disabling the EGR/emissions system would fix the issues, but that's not a legal option. Even after having the O2 sensor repaired at a Chrysler dealer, the turbocharger fault code returned immediately, suggesting the underlying emissions-related carbon buildup is the root cause.

EXHAUST TICK TICK NOISE. THE MANIFOLD AND THE BOLT HAST RUSTED OUT. I CAN BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A RECALL.

DIESEL FUMES INVADE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WHEN IT IS UNDERGOING THE "REGENERATION" PHASE OF ITS EMISSIONS CYCLE. WE ARE LITERALLY CHOKING AND HOLDING OUR BREATH WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. 2011 RAM 2500 WITH 5.7 HEMI MOTOR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAK ALLOWING EXHAUST MANIFOLDS TO BECOME LOSE FROM ENGINE, ALLOWING HOT EXHAUST FUMES TO ESCAPE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND ENTER PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, WHILE BEING DRIVEN, CAUSING POSSIBLE CARBON MONOXIDE INHALATION AND DEATH. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK WILL ALSO CAUSE THE VERY REAL POTENTIAL OF A DEADLY FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2011 DODGE RAM 2500 DIESEL ON MAY 28TH 2015. I CALLED THE DODGE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THE EARLIEST I CLOUD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WAS JUNE 15TH. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN AS SCHEDULED AND UPON REVIEW THE EMISSION SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER MADE SOME REPAIRS THIS DAY - A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS I WAS TOLD AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. WHILE DRIVING HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REAPPEARED. THE DEALER REEXAMINED MY TRUCK THE NEXT DAY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM AGAIN WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM - THIS TIME THE CO2 SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER DAY OF AND SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE DEALER IN A WEEK - IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO MONTHS NOW AND MY CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS PROBLEM HAS STILL NOT BEEN RECTIFIED. I UNDERSTAND THAT CO2 SENSORS ARE BACK ORDERED AND NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD ABNORMALLY WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, AND THE CONTACT WAS THEN ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. FIRST INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WARNING LIGHT WENT ON AND THE ENGINE DIED. COULD NOT RESTART UNTIL VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, PUT IN PARK AND THE KEY WAS CYCLED FROM ON TO OFF AND BACK. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE ON 11/28/10 BASED ON THE PRESENCE OF DIAGNOSTIC CODE P2121, "ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR PERFORMANCE.". PART WAS ORDERED (IT WAS ON BACKORDER), REPAIR WAS SCHEDULED FOR 12/12/11 AND VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME. ON 12/5/11 THE FAILURE REPEATED ITSELF, ON 12/12/11 THE PART WAS REPLACED. ON 1/5/12 SAME FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN, ALTHOUGH THIS TIME I WAS TOWING AN 8000 POUND CAR TRAILER. WAS ABLE TO STOP AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, NARROWLY AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW AS A STALL CAUSES LOSS OF BOTH POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, NOT TO MENTION LOSS OF THE EXHAUST BRAKE. *TR
