ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 SENTRA VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH MR20 ENGINES, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 11, 2010, TO MAY 22, 2010, AND JULY 8, 2010, TO OCTOBER 25, 2010. THE ZINC COATING APPLIED TO THE TERMINAL STUD BOLT WAS THICKER THAN SPECIFICATION. THIS CAN RESULT IN A VOLTAGE DROP THAT MAY CAUSE DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM).

Fix: NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL AND COVER, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALLBEGAN ON JANUARY 23, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 SENTRA VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 22, 2010, THROUGH JULY 8, 2010. DUE TO A MACHINING IRREGULARITY, THE BOLT/WASHER SURFACE ON THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CABLE END MAY ALLOW FOR A GAP TO OCCUR IN THE CONTACT AREA OF THE TERMINAL. THIS CAN RESULT IN A VOLTAGE DROP THAT MAY CAUSE DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE AND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE.

Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CABLE END WITH A NEW ONE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN PN NOVEMBER 29, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

I CANNOT PIN POINT WHERE THE WIRE IS BURNING AND NOW THE LIGHT IS VERY DIM AND HIGH BEAM IS NOT WORKING EITHER, BEFORE ONLY THE LOW BEAM WAS THE PROBLEM AND I'M AFRAID IT WILL CATCH FIRE. THE CAR DID NOT GET WET AS THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST FUSE REPLACEMENT. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING AS I WAS REPLACING THE FUSE.

ON 10/4/16 I WAS WAITING ON MY DAUGHTER TO GET OFF OF WORK. THE CAR STARTING TRYING TO DIE OUT. I TURNED OFF VEHICLE CHECKED ALL MY LUBRICANTS AND RADIATOR EVERYTHING WAS FINE. SHE GOT IN WAS IN PROCESS OF BACKING UP CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS(DASH LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS,AND ALL THE OTHER WARNING LIGHTS) STARTED FLASHING CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS HESITATING AND DIED OUT. COULD NOT GET TO CRANK. USED JUMPER BOX TO CHECK BATTERY WAS NOT COMPLETELY DEAD. WE PUSHED VEHICLE BACK INTO PARKING PLACE AND LET BATTERY CHARGE. CAR WOULD START BUT NOT CATCH. FEW DAYS LATER BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD. READ ABOUT RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE. LOOSE POSITIVE CABLE TERMINAL CAUSING DROP IN VOLTAGE ESSENTIALLY DAMAGING ECM. I HAVE A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA AND THE ECM HAS GONE OUT DUE TO A FACTORY DEFECT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON CERTAIN 2010 NISSAN SENTRAS, HOWEVER MY PARTICULAR VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED AND THEREFORE NISSAN WILL NOT MAKE THE REPAIRS. NOT LONG AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE BATTERY. IT WOULDN'T START AT TIMES. I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY, HOWEVER STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FEW MECHANICS AND THEY COULDN'T DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. EVENTUALLY THE CAR JUST STOPPED. I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE, BUT IT WAS AROUND 12.7.14. THANKFULLY, I WASN'T DRIVING AT THE MOMENT, HOWEVER LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES, THEIRS DID. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND THAT'S WHEN I WAS TOLD ABOUT THE ECM. AFTER DOING MY OWN RESEARCH, I SAW THE RECALL AND THE PEOPLE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING WITH MY CAR AND THEN THEIR ECM DIED. WITH MY COLLEAGUES AT WORK WE TRIED TO USE JUMPING CABLES TO START THE ENGINE. AFTER UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS CAR WAS TOWED TO KENDRICK'S NISSAN IN LAFAYETTE INDIANA. THE NEXT DAY DEALER'S TECHNICAL ADVISER TOLD ME THAT ECM IS BROKEN AND IT LOOKS THAT I BURNED IT DURING RE-START ENGINE ATTEMPT USING WRONGLY (REVERSING) CABLES.
