THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER IF THERE IS FUEL IN THE TANK, THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING ISSUE FOR MANY MONTHS, AND HAS GRADUALLY GOT WORSE TO THE POINT, THAT WHEN YOU START THE ENJOY IT ALWAYS STARTS AT ZERO. NISSAN HAD A RECALL ON A NUMBER OF OTHER MODELS AND MAKES WITH THE SAME ISSUE, THE ROUGE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL IN 2014. PER THE DIRECTION ON THE LAST RECALL WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK BEFORE IT GETS BELOW 50% FULL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS BELOW HALF A TANK. THE FUEL AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCOTT CLARK NISSAN IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED KEEPING THE FUEL TANK ABOVE HALF FULL TO AVOID THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON 10/8/17 AND THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED ONE BAR LESS THAN FULL. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THAT MY FUEL SENDING UNIT HAS BROKEN OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE 1ST TIME ON 6/26/10, THE 2ND TIME ON 3/30/11 (REPORTED 3/30/11, REPAIRED 4/13/11), THE 3RD TIME ON 6/6/12 (REPORTED 6/6/12, REPAIRED 6/12/12), THE 4TH TIME ON 6/3/13 (REPORTED 6/3/13, REPAIRED 6/17/13), AND NOW THE 5TH TIME ON 10/8/17. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE MALFUNCTIONING FUEL SENDING UNIT ON 10/13/17. BUT, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THEY HAD NO DISCRETION OR ABILITY TO MAKE A REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO CALL CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 10/13/17 AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO TWO INDIVIDUALS. BOTH WOMEN ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WASN'T ACCEPTABLE THAT I'M NOW DEALING WITH THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT A REGIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS SPECIALIST WOULD REVIEW THE CASE AND MY SERVICE RECORDS, AND THEN CONTACT ME WITH A DECISION. AFTER BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SPECIALIST AND HER SUPERVISOR, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE REJECTING MY CASE BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I QUESTIONED THAT AS A REASON, GIVEN I WAS DIRECTED TO THIS GROUP FOR AN 'OUT OF WARRANTY' REVIEW. I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM REPEATEDLY. THIS HAD RESULTED IN THE SAME PART BEING REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER WARRANTY. AND EACH OF THOSE TIMES, IT BROKE ' POINTING TO EITHER FAULTY PARTS BEING INSTALLED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE TAKING THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY. AND A BASIC GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. CAR: STATIONARY PART: FUEL SENDING UNIT
GAS GAUGE SHOW EMPTY SOMETIMES WHEN ITS ON HALF TANK THEN THE ENGINE LIGHTS TURN ON,WHEN GET FULL TANK AND RUN FOR 2 HRS THE ENGINE LIGHTS GOES OFF BUT WHEN GAS TANK GET TO HALF, SOMETIMES WHEN ENGINE STARTS THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY TANK AGAIN AND THEN IN SHORT TIME THE GAUGE START GOING UP AGAIN BUT NOT SURE IF ITS READING RIGHT FILL OF GAS. SOMEBODY SAID IT MIGHT A PROBLEM ON GAS VALVE THAT THE SPRING WON'T WORK GOOD. IT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME ANYWHERE ALL THE TIME, IN MOTION OR IN STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE EVEN AFTER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS FULLY DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR MORE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
GAS GUAGE STARTED BEING INACCURATE AT 36,000 MILES. I HAVE READ ON-LINE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM W NISSANS BUT TO DATE THE COMPANY DOES NOT SEEM TO BE DOING ANYTHING RESPONSIBLE ABOUT IT. SAFETY CONCERN IS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL IN AN AREA LIKE A CANYON ROAD AT NIGHT WHERE THERE IS NO SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER AND CELL PHONE COVERAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE. I TRAVEL WEEKLY IN SUCH AN AREA FOR 45 MILES AT NIGHT. I CAN'T TRUST WHATEVER THE GUAGE SHOWS NOW.
INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR READING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. REASON -FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT
GAS GAUGE QUIT WORKING. SENSOR NEEDLE GOES UP AND DOWN
MY CAR FAILED THE CAL SMOG CHECK ON 3/24/2016 PREVENTING ME FROM OBTAINING MY REGISTRATION TAGS. THE CAR PASSED EVERY TEST WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CODE P0463-FUEL LEVEL SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT HIGH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON ALSO. I TOOK THE CAR TO FIRST NISSAN IN SIMI VALLEY, CA AND THEY INDICATED IT WOULD COST $900 TO PULL THE ENGINE TO SEE IF THE FUEL SENSOR LEVEL EQUIPMENT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I ALSO CALLED NISSAN CORPORATION TO SEEK ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE COST. NISSAN CORP REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. I HAVE READ INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MY YEAR NISSAN AND THAT THEY HAVE RECALLED VEHICLES AND PAID FOR THEIR REPAIR.
IT RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. THE GAS GUAGE SAYS THERES STILL HALF TANK. ROAD SERVICE ADDED GAS AND IT STARTED. UNTIL NOW THE GAS GUAGE IS STILL NOT GOING DOWN AS I DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 50 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE IT COULD RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT DOES NOT WORK. I FILL UP THE TANK AND IT DOES NOT READ FULL, AND IT IS UNRELIABLE. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR IS NOT SUBJECT TO A RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION SO TOO BAD. THIS IS A 7 YEAR OLD CAR! THIS SHOULDN'T FAIL! ALSO, NISSAN HAS ISSUED RECALLS FOR THE SAME PART FOR THE NISSAN FRONTIER AND ALTIMA, BOTH FOR THE 2008 MODEL YEAR.
THE GAUGE ISN'T READING FULL. AND AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE THERES PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. BUT ACCORDING TO EVERYONE AND ACCORDING TO NISSAN THEIR NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT.,
OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 2 YEARS, I WOULD HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS BOTH WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, HILLS OR AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. AT FIRST IT WAS ANNOYING AND A FEW SECOND LONG PROBLEM BUT IT GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS. I HAD AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY WHERE I COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE EVEN TO PULL OFF TO A SAFE LOCATION. IT WAS LIKE A STALL HAPPENED. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC TO MAKE SIMPLE TURNS AS WELL AS LEAVING TRAFFIC LIGHTS. IN NOVEMBER, I REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION BUT I BELIEVE NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS AND ARE PUTTING CONSUMERS AT GREAT RISK. EVEN AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF MY TRANSMISSION (AFTER HEARING NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES) I STILL HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. NOW 6 MONTHS LATER I HAVE STARTED TO HAVE WHAT I CONSIDER DANGEROUS EFFECTS. THERE IS AS MUCH AS A 5 SECOND DELAY BETWEEN HITTING THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE ENGAGING TO MEET THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR TODAY AND BOTH ON THE STREET AND HIGHWAY I AM LOSING THE ABILITY TO PICK UP SPEED EVEN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WON'T ALLOW MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS TO DRIVE MY CAR AND PLANT OTAKE IT NISSAN THIS WEEK. I DO ASK THAT THE NTSB OR THE AGENCY ADDRESS THESE CONCERNS WITH NISSAN. I KNOW THEY ARE RAMPANT WITH THE CARS WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS. I BELIEVE I AM IN DANGER IN THIS VEHICLE AND I FULLY BELIEVE NISSAN IS AWARE OF IT. *TR
CAR LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING, ON HIGHWAY GOING 80, ALL OF SUDDEN TOTAL LOST OF POWER ON ANY INCLINE. DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHERS AROUND ME. COMING OFF HIGHWAY HESITATES , APPEARS TO NOT MOVE AT ALL. EVENTUALLY CAR IS MOVING APPROX. 20 MPH, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR HIGHWAY. I HAVE REPORTED TO NISSAN CORPORATE AND THEY ADVISED THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I FILLED ME VEHICLE UP ON MONDAY OF THIS WEEK, AND THE GAS GAUGE NEVER WENT ABOVE A 1/4 OF A TANK. WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK MY CAR RAN OUT OF GAS AND I HAD NO IDEA BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN SHOWING ON E ALL WEEK, BUT I KNEW IT HAD GAS. SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN OCTOBER, IT HAS NEVER ACTUALLY GONE ALL THE WAY TO FULL NO MATTER HOW MUCH I FILL IT UP. I LOOK ONLINE AND ALL I'M SEEING IS THIS IS A HUGELY KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN'S. PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS GAUGE READY 1/2 TO 1/4 EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE ARE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH A FAULTY FUEL SENDING MODULE OR MODULES OR PERHAPS THE FUEL PUMP. I SEE THIS PROBLEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE NISSAN ROGUE. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. TO MY UNDERSTANDING THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NISSAN FUEL PART IS THAT THE PATHFINDER PART NUMBER IS DIFFERENT THEN THE NISSAN BUT THE FAULTY PART IS THE SAME. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR PANEL LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN TIRE PRESSURE IS CORRECT. *TR
MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE HAS A TENDENCY TO LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AT A CONSTANT SPEED, USUALLY ABOUT 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR AT 75 MILES AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE WILL START MY MAKING A WEIRD WHISTLING OR WHINING NOISE THEN AFTER THAT YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE IT'LL BE STUCK AT WHATEVER SPEED YOUR GOING. WHEN I COME ACROSS A BRIDGE OR A HILL IT'LL SLOW DOWN A BIT THEN ACCELERATE ONCE I'M GOING DOWNHILL THEN STOP AT A SPECIFIC MPH, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESS ON THE GAS IT WILL NOT GO ANY FURTHER. WHEN I OFF THE HIGHWAY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRY TO TAKE OFF AGAIN IT WILL NOT RESPOND RIGHT AWAY THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF WITH ME AS I'M PRESSING THE GAS, ALMOST RESULTING IN ME RUNNING INTO OTHER VEHICLES SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN IT DOESN'T GIVE ANY ERROR CODES OR SHOW THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG. NISSAN CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT WILLING TO PAY SOMEONE TO GO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR OVER THAT LONG PERIOD OF TIME. I COMMUTE TO WORK AND CHURCH ON THE HIGHWAY FIVE TIMES A WEEK AND EXPERIENCE THIS JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE DAY. I DID HOWEVER TAKE THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE EXPERIENCE WHAT THE CAR IS DOING AND HE NOTICED NISSAN PUT TOO MUCH FLUID IN MY TRANSMISSION WHEN THEY REPLACED IT AFTER IT STOPPED ON ME PREVIOUSLY ON THE HIGHWAY, THAT DID SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BUT NOW IT'S DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE THEY INFORM ME THERE'S NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME STORY AND WAS EVEN COVERED BY THE NEWS STATION. ONE OTHER THING THEY ALL HAVE IN COMMON IS THAT NO ONE HAD THAT ISSUE FIX OR KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I RECENTLY RENT A VEHICLE BECAUSE I REFUSE TO LET MY WIFE AND ONE YEAR OLD IN THE CAR BY THEMSELVES. *TR
WHEN I GO TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK I WILL LET IT RUN UNTIL IT STOPS AT THE PUMP THEN PUMP IN A LITTLE MORE TO GET IT TO AN EVEN DOLLAR AMOUNT, I WILL THEN GET IN THE CAR AND THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW FULL. FOR SOME REASON THE FIRST "TICK" ON THE GAS GAUGE WILL NEVER COME ON NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS YOU PUT IN THE CAR. AS FOR THE WHETHER OR NOT THE REST OF IT IS ACCURATE I AM NOT QUITE SURE. I CALLED OUR MECHANIC AND HE HAD SAID THERE WAS A NOTICE THAT CAME UP ABOUT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NOT READING CORRECTLY ON ANOTHER YEAR ROGUE. I ASKED IF WE CAN BRING IT IN AND HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. I LOOKED ON THIS SITE AFTER READING SEVERAL NISSAN FORUMS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH ROGUES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM IF SO MANY ROGUES HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND SO MANY MECHANICS KNOW ABOUT IT. ESPECIALLY THE 2008. THIS PROBLEM STARTS AS SOON AS YOU START UP THE CAR. BEFORE IT WOULD START WORKING CORRECTLY BUT NOW THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND IT STAYS AT E OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE ALL THE TIME. *TR

THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION ONCE IT REACHES A CERTAIN HEAT WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING MY CAR TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY WITH NO OPTION TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF HARM'S WAY. IT HAS NOW OCCURRED TWICE, PUTTING MYSELF AND PASSENGERS IN IMMINENT DANGER. NISSAN HAS SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
THIS IS ONE OF SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP TO NYC, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 73 MPH. IN ALL INCIDENTS, I NOTICED THAT AFTER HAVING THE CRUISE ON FOR OVER AN HOUR, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CRUISE WOULD JUST "KICK OFF". IT WOULD STOP WORKING. AND MY CAR WOULD START TO DECELERATE. BEING ON A MAIN HIGHWAY, TRAVELING 73 MPH WITH EVERYONE AROUND ME GOING EQUALLY AS FAST, IF NOT FASTER, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DECELERATING WAS LIKE PUTTING ON THE BRAKES WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS. IT WAS POSITIVELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, AFTER IT GOT DOWN TO BETWEEN 60 AND 65, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I PUT MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. I GOT INTO THE RIGHT HAND LANE AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, AND PRAYED THE ENTIRE TIME TO NOT BE KILLED. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE UP TO 70. BUT THE CRUISE WOULD JUST KICK OFF AS SOON AS I SET IT AGAIN. MADDENING, DANGEROUS AND SCARY. AND IT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. EXACTLY THE SAME WAY EACH TIME. AND ONLY AFTER BEING IN THE CAR WITH CRUISE ON FOR OVER AN HOUR. *TR
FUEL SENDING UNIT IS FAULTY. CANNOT GET ANY IDEA OF FUEL LEVEL IN THE VEHICLE. ONLY 45000 MILES ON THE CAR. NISSAN HAS RECALLED THIS FOR THE FRONTIER AND PATHFINDER, SO IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES, BUT THE DEAL IS CHARGING ~$500 TO FIX IT. *JS
THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IS THAT IT IS SHOWING A QUARTER TANK OF GAS, BUT IN REALITY THERE IS NO GAS AT ALL. THE CAR STOPS ACCELARTING AND EVENTUALLY DIES. I FIRST HAD THIS PROBLEM CHRISTMAS EVE 2011. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADDED SOME GAS AFTER NOTING THE GAUGE AND THE CAR STARTED UP. THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE THAT THE GAUGE GETS STUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE CAN. WELL THIS HAS HAPPEN TWICE MORE IN 40 AND 50 DEGREE WEATHER. THE LAST INCIDENT HAD ME STRANDED AT 9 PM ON MARCH 10 ON THE SIDE OF I465 E. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC RECALL ON THE ROUGE, BUT NISSAN HAS A RECALL ON SEVERAL OTHER MODELS DISPLAYING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
GAS GAUGE FAILED TO READ ACCURATELY AFTER TURNING 16,000 MILES. MUST FILL TANK TO OVERFLOW LEVEL TO BE SURE IT IS FILLED. CURRENTLY AT 16,500 MILES. DEALER CONTACTED - HAD NOT HEARD OF PROBLEM. I PROVIDED TSB # AND SERVICE MANAGER QUOTED THE FOLLOWING COSTS TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR: $119-DIAGNOSIS/ $420 FOR SENDER AND SUB-SENDER UNITS (ROGUE IS AWD) / $263 LABOR. THIS PROBLEM IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT AND RATHER THAN FALL UNDER THE TSB CATEGORY A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. NISSAN SHOULD COVER THIS AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. *TR
EVERY TIME I GO TO FILL UP MY TANK, THE GAS GAUGE BARS NEVER REACH THE FULL TANK INDICATOR. IT ALWAYS SHOW THAT MY TANK IS 80% - 90% FULL. I ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL THE LOW GAS LIGHT COMES ON BEFORE I FILL UP, BUT BECAUSE THE GAUGE IS INACCURATE, I HAVE TO FILL UP MORE OFTEN FOR FEAR OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS AT NIGHT WITH MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. *TR
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING NORTH IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A SIX LANE INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE MADE IT THRU THE INTERSECTION AND SLOWED TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE STREET. THE FUEL GAGE READ A QUARTER OF A TANK AND THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ON. A GALLON WAS ADDED AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. IT WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE GAS STATION WHERE OVER 16 GALLONS WERE ADDED IMPLYING THE TANK WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. NISSAN SAID IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. SEVERAL OTHER NISSAN OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROUGE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY FUEL IN THE TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. UPDATED 05/04/11 *BF UPDATED 11/1811
