Owner Complaints (10)
Your airbag warning light is flashing red on the dashboard. A dealer diagnostic found that the passenger seat airbag sensor is malfunctioning and the entire passenger seat needs to be replaced, but Nissan no longer makes this part and it's not available in stock. Replacing the seat could cost around $4,000, and you may not be able to find a replacement at all. The airbag system won't function properly until the seat is replaced, which may require locating a used OEM seat or waiting for a potential safety recall.

Your car's brakes jerk noticeably when you're driving under 15 mph, causing you and your passengers to lurch forward repeatedly, and the brakes feel overly sensitive which nearly caused an accident. Additionally, the front passenger airbag sensor has stopped working, and the dealership is refusing to repair it. The brake issue likely involves the regenerative braking system or brake calibration, while the airbag sensor will need diagnostic testing and replacement.

Your passenger airbag has turned off permanently because the occupancy sensor in the passenger seat has failed. Your dashboard is showing constant airbag and error warning lights. The dealer says the problem is with the seat mat sensor and cannot be repaired, leaving passengers without airbag protection.

Your airbag warning light continuously flashes when you start the car and keeps flashing while driving. A Nissan dealer diagnosed a failed seat occupant classification module (trouble code B1018), which prevents the airbag system from working properly. The fix requires replacing the entire passenger seat cushion assembly, which costs around $3,938. This appears to be a known issue covered under a recall.

Your passenger seat sensor has failed, which affects your airbag system. Nissan is refusing to cover the $3,900 replacement cost under their warranty, stating it's not included in their 10-year/100,000-mile coverage. The repair will involve replacing the entire passenger seat assembly to restore proper airbag function.

Your airbag warning light is on, and the dealer says the entire front passenger seat assembly needs to be replaced to fix it, which will cost around $4,000. This suggests there may be an electrical or mechanical issue with the passenger-side airbag system that can't be repaired separately. The repair will likely involve removing and installing a complete new seat assembly with an integrated airbag system.

Your car's passenger seat occupancy sensor has stopped working, which tells the airbag system whether someone is sitting there. Nissan's only repair option is to replace the entire seat assembly (including the side airbag and seat heater) for over $4,000—nearly the value of your used car. This same problem caused a mandatory recall on 2013-2016 model year Leafs, suggesting a design defect. The repair will require replacing the complete seat assembly with all integrated safety components.
